I bought it this week in the buy 2 get 1 free thing, but I'm wondering if it's a mistake or not. I was originally excited by this as I love Rouge-like games, and the idea of a turn based Rogue-like with cute characters appeals to me, but then this has gotten mostly horrible reviews.
Is there really much to the game? Can you really build up your character, add new powers or whatever like in a normal game of this type? I mean does this tap into the same vibe that Nethack, Diablo, Champions of Norath, etc. all tap into?
And what's happens after you beat the game? It sounds like it takes 15-20 hours...but tons of basic features aren't available until after that? So does that mean the story continues, or are you stuck just playing the same areas again with no story? I need SOMETHING compelling me forward-exploration or story or something. I don't care about finding all the Pokemon or anything, I'm more interested in building up characters I DO have.
While I'm at it-are Clubhouse Games and Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 worth it? I'll mostly play Clubhouse Games single player so I'm not sure. I'm *still* looking for games to get my mom into gaming though-tried to my whole life...seems like this could be a gateway game.
Oh, and since people were listing it, I'm 29, and haven't played a "real" Pokemon game since the first one. I wasn't a *huge* fan as I don't like the "gotta catch them all" thing, and the whole thing of capturing animals to have them fight kind of creeps me out.
I like that "SOS" idea! That's really cool. If I get into this game, I can see rescuing other people from CAG. Could be kind of fun!
