Think about it for a second. Before now, any independently published game released for a major console could be printed out without an ESRB rating. In the case of LRG, this was the norm. It was essentially the normal scenario for anyone looking to go this route. Under those circumstances, an officially released physical copy of a game without an ESRB rating was nothing special. It was the de-facto option for a developer too small to warrant the extra expense of getting a physical ESRB rating.

But with this shift in policy from the major console platform holders, that door is now closed. And there will never again be officially-sanctioned physical game releases that don't have ESRB ratings. Before, LRG and their lack of ESRB ratings were little more than a curiosity. Their rarity was based only on their low print numbers. With this change, they are now going to be THE ONLY PS4 and Vita physical titles that have no ESRB ratings, and yet are still official releases. And they will hold that distinction forever.

For game collecting, that is going to be a big deal. Whether or not these games get reprinted is irrelevant. Just the distinction of not having an ESRB rating is now a point of scarcity in and of itself. If they do get reprinted with an ESRB rating, whether through LRG or through a different publisher, it won't diminish the scarcity and value of the initial print runs. All of these early LRG releases now have a unique selling point that sets them apart from all other potentially collectible game titles, as well as their inherent scarcity from small print runs.
You forgot about the two releases from FanGamer. You know, Retro City Rampage DX and Shovel Knight.

Thanks for the info. I'm not to concerned with modding it. I bought this vita from my local Disk Replay's broken bin for $15. I had to open it to replace one of the boards inside. It was easier to open than some the other devices I've worked on.

I'm going to pick up that SD reader and throw in a 64 GB Lexar SD card I just picked up on clearance from target for $15.98.
I apologize if this was stated earlier, but how do you mod a ps vita to use an sd card?

I just recently got a used ps vita with 5 games and 2 memory cards for like $50. It’s kinda beat up though. Is it fairly easy to replace the shell on a vita? I reverently got a new shell for the GBA and that was fairly easy but I haven’t looked too deep into taking the vita apart. Any mod sites or shops you recommend for something like this?

I'm not sure on the hardware side, as that adapter is only for the 3G model. So it neither plugs in directly to that slot, or you have to remove it, and place the adapter where it was before.

Either way, your Vita has to be running CFW, and that requires a past FW number, so without either of these things, modding the system for more memory is moot.

I don't know if this is of any use here, but gamestop lowered their prices for a lot of games. I don't have a vita YET, but these markdowns, combined with GS elite and CAG16 online, make for some cheap games.

I forgot Retro City Rampage. But as you can see from the image you posted, Shovel Knight did in fact have an ESRB rating printed on it. This is actually not that surprising. Shovel Knight had already had a commercial physical copy release on several platforms before the fan-gamer release on the Vita. So they likely didn't have to get it re-rated.

But you are right about Retro City Rampage. Of course, RCR has only ever gotten very small print runs, so it is already one of the most scarce PS4 and Vita games in existence. I was able to get one of the reprints with the alternate cover for the PS4, but never got the original for the PS4 or the Vita. This change in physical rating policy will affect those releases as well.

how much is the elite discount? is it 20% compared to the 10%?

It is not hard to open up the vita, check out ifixit. That adapter requires removing the 3G modem. Only non slim 3G vita models can use this adapter.

If your vita is the right firmware to mod, there is also a sd adapter that fits in the game card slot. I'm going with the 3G adapter since I still want to be able to use the game slot.

It would be great if not for Gamestop cases.
Exactly^

They have tons of games I would like to buy at the current prices, but without actual pictures of the games in question, no thank you. I'd be lucky to get one game out of ten that actually came complete, and maybe not even that. LOL

I stopped a couple Gamestops this afternoon, ones that are known for having larger than normal vita collections, and I couldn't find much of anything worth buying from the Vita sale.

You can't order online from them because its probably going to come in a blank case.

Yeah, nothing for me yet, and I just ordered the standard Vita version.
The email stated:

We’re preparing to ship the first wave of UNDERTALE standard and collector’s editions! They’ll be going out—starting tomorrow*—over the next few weeks. We'll be shipping as fast as we can, however it may take us into October to finish shipping out all of the first wave orders. Also please take a moment to make sure we have the right address for your order. (In particular, make sure we have your apartment or suite number, if applicable.)

*today
So over the next few weeks you'll get your emails I guess. I ordered the Vita Locket edition.

I may get Akiba's Beat for Vita....pretty bad game?
I can't speak for how it runs on the Vita, since I played/reviewed the PS4 version. Other than that, it's basically an ok story (there were several parts I thought were dumb, and it went on a bit too long) with the Tales Of combat system. Might be worth it at that price, but I could easily see it going lower.

I could see it going around $10ish myself....but just wondering about it. I actually bought Akiba's Beat PS4 from Gamefly, but it got lost in the mail aka they sent it to an old deleted address that got stuck in my order somehow.....

I interpreted that e-mail to say that shipping of all orders will take a couple weeks, not that e-mail notification. It makes no sense that they would slowly send that e-mail out to people over the next few weeks. If the e-mail was an actual notice of shipping, that would make sense, but it's just giving an update.

perhaps you need an account with them? I don't have one and I also didn't receive an email

That's what I get for posting this late at night. Completely did not notice Shovel Knight was ESRB rated.

Count yourselves lucky, mine won't ship until December since I ordered during the second round.

I don't know the quality of these at all, but monoprice has a handful of clamshell cases for a Vita for $0.13 - $0.24 (depending on color).  Even with shipping out to me on the east coast it's

If you don't have a while-you-play-case, you could do worse I guess. I think I'll give it a shot just to have different colors.

I actually have the black tpu case from them and love it. Ordered 6 things for $3 shipped for backups thanks.

Akibas beat continues to be lucky. Was just in a GameStop and shockingly found a used copy with cover art. Got it in the b2g1

I rarely see any newer vita games used there

Found Toukiden 2, Utawaremono Mask of Decpetion, and Xblaze. Found a copy of God Wars at another store so I'll probably do a return and rebuy in a bit

Sweet! I just ordered fifteen Vita games to gift to the niece and three oldest nephews at Christmas from this GameStop sale. Grand total after discounts: $100.07

They're not collectors, so if the games arrive with no case or a replacement case it won't matter to them. Really though, what a deal.

I'm more shocked people still walk into stores in this day and age.

What is this? 2015?
I like seeing people haha....which is why I do go to BestBuy now and then....usually to see something released on the PS4 to see if I'm tempted. Going into Gamestop is a little different though......not as great.

Alright I have a question if it's alright. Looking to take advantage of the B2G1 at GS and have 1 game picked out but having trouble picking out 2 Vita games between 3. They are Muramasa, Dandanronpa Ultra Despair Girls, or Superdimensional Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls. Not sure which ones to grab any thoughts?

I'd say Muramasa and Neptune vs Sega. Those play well on the Vita while I've heard the PS4 version of Ultra Despair Girls plays a bit better, but I haven't played it myself.

Wish I wasn't a collector. Shopping for games would be so much easier.

I don't know about how Danganronpa plays on Vita vs. PS4, but Muramasa is easily the best of the three, followed by Dangan. The gap between those and SDNvSHG is pretty significant.

I really didn't like Ultra Despair Girls. The actual Danganronpa is great, but not the 3rd person shooter spinoff. Yuck.

Stick with Muramasa and Nep.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I ended up getting Muramasa and Sega. I really liked the 1st 2 Danganronpa but heard way too many mixed reviews on Ultra Girls so I will hold off for a bit. Thanks again.

Yeah, it's not that it's taking a while, just that I recently platted Collar x Malice after playing it for the past 1-2 weeks and am now getting back into Celceta.

12 hours? I'm at that playtime and I think I'm only halfway through. I'm not exactly playing slowly, but I'm trying to get everything. :whistle2:k
12 hours for Celceta? Man I just checked and I'm 65 hours into it. Level 52 but I don't think I'm ready for the main boss. Maybe I did something wrong but I still think I'm at least 20 hours away. This has got to be 100 hour Plat if I wanted to go for it.

I replied later that it was my typo, I was meaning to say 21 hours, according to HLTB.

Your 65 hour play time is really making me not want to start the game... Are you playing on a harder difficulty or something?

I believe that I'm playing a regular difficulty.  It's a great game, I just needed to take a break from it because I spent so much time on it.  I have been aiming for the majority of the trophies but I definitely won't go for the plat.  Part of the reason my play time is long is because I'm making sure that I master all the special attacks.

Nicalis. Inc tweeted this out, with the text, "What if Issac Rebirth on Vita?"
Damn, took em long enough! This better not be them BSing, and trying to gauge interest. At this point, your pretty much doing this for the fan/collector's crowd, as this is the old game, as the Vita is the only system to not have the "Afterbirth" version(and the 3DS). I would love to have this version anyways, as I never bought it, as I hoped a proper physical version would be offered. So here's to them making it happen(fingers crossed anyways).
