Legit, maybe, but it's gaming the system and if it works, Sony will stop us from doing it in the future by stopping the whole Cross Buy promotion.
I'm usually on my moral high horse when it comes to things like this, but I don't see anything wrong with doing this. It's not like GameFly can do anything with the digital Vita copy. I'm sure Sony is aware that the first people renting the game will be getting the digital Vita copy.
I don't understand how this is possible. Every PS3 game is pressed from the same master and doesn't have unique data anywhere on the disc as far as I'm aware. How the hell are they doing this?
It's a good question, but check out this link:

http://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3823/~/ps-vita-cross-platform-play

Q: What does it mean if I get the message "The disc has already been added to another account" when trying to access Disc Benefits?
A: If you receive this message, this means the Cross-buy item has already been redeemed by another PSN account. Cross-buy content can only be used once and by one PSN account. Once redeemed, the content cannot be accessed again.

It would seem Sony has figured out a system for each disc to have something to it that uniquely identifies it, I assume it's a voucher code that functions much like a serial number.

You're right, though - it's typically the exact same software on every disc. Whatever they've figured out, I could imagine this same thing being used for full console titles much like PC games with serial numbers. Not just online features, but having to do something for the system to associate the disc with your user account and thus have access to the game.

I suppose it's possible that the PS3 laser can read the barcode at the center of the disc, I think those are unique - that's got to be the only explanation.
Just Googled this. I don't know anything about it, being a noob and all.:baby:

By synchronizing your trophy information with PlayStation®Network servers, you can:

Continue to have the trophies you earned on your old PS Vita system, if you dispose of or transfer ownership of your PS Vita system and then later get a new PS Vita system

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psvita/trophies/about.html

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psvita/settings/restore_system.html
So if I synchronize my trophy information with PSN, remove the 8GB memory card currently in my Vita, then restore the Vita, I should be good to go with the new Vita (I can retrieve my account information on the new one)?

Make sure you backup your saved games to the cloud, a ps3 or a pc first though.
Make sure you backup your saved games to the cloud, a ps3 or a pc first though.
This is probably a noobish follow-up question, but doesn't the 8GB memory card contain all the data?

Yes, but I'm 98% sure that its locked to the Vita it was originally formatted on. If you want to use it in a different vita I'm pretty sure you have to format it again. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.
Has Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection (PSP) ever been on sale?
Since you're in the PSN weekly deals thread, I assume you're interested in digital format, but the physical format is currently $9.99 at Amazon, though you'll have to wait for it to come back in stock.

yeah, lookin for a copy for my vita...but $20 is steep for an old FF game
yeah, lookin for a copy for my vita...but $20 is steep for an old FF game
Yeah but you're getting the direct sequel also, which costs $30 plus by itself on WiiWare. Plus a small 2-hour game that bridges the story between both games.
Thanks--CC rocks as well. What I wouldn't give for a true console continuation of the series...
Same here. 12-13 years and still nothing, ugh.

Hmmm...there doesn't appear to be a toggle for the bit rate quality. I let the no-cache option for my phone slide, but this might be it for me. It's a big fucking deal, honestly, and I wouldn't even consider myself an audiophile. Shame, too, because the service is otherwise stellar. Still have time to decide...maybe I'll get over it.
Can anyone recommend a good case and screen protector? I heard the Vita screen scratches easily.
Heard from who? I just have the Sony brand screen protector, and ive never had an issue. I combo this with the soft travel pouch that comes with the starter kit and it's all good. The only problem I had was when my dog knocked it off a table onto the hardwood floor. Cracked the screen and paid Sony to fix it.

Unless you treat your electronics like you're an animal, the basic screen protector should be fine.

Havent kept up with this thread in a while much

lol smh

any word on the next free game? lol *sorry, cant stop laughing at gettinmoney*

No not mad. I thought your comment was from earlier in the day. I just realize you just posted it.

Bullion Blitz was released last Tuesday under the Playstation Mobile section of the Vita Playstation Store and is free to download. One section, Quick Play, is free to play, while the other 2 sections Quest and Puzzle cost $1.29 to unlock.

It's a touchscreen puzzle game where you touch bullion bricks to destroy them and get money. Combining bullion bricks with the same width or height and the same material will create bigger and more valuable bricks. Here is a link about the game and some pictures of it. Even though the link is for the European region, the game is also available in the North American region.
Can anyone recommend a good case and screen protector? I heard the Vita screen scratches easily.
Official Sony one is amazing, and easiest one I ever applied. Though atm I'm trying to decide whether or not to replace it with the full front covering Persona 4 one.

i don't know if its been posted but up on the store under featured deals it says:

"Spend $60 or more GET $10 BACK!* offer ends nov 27, 2012"

If only they would have had it end Dec. 4th instead.

I really need to use this to extend my PS+ membership another year but I've spent stupid money over the past month. FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuu

I tried the demo for Space Channel 5 Part 2 on Xbox 360 because (as is often the case) PSN doesn't have a demo for it. I liked it and found it fairly easy to do the right moves on the Xbox 360. Since it was 400 points on XBLA vs. $2.99 for PSN+ here, I bought the PS3 version off PSN. As Arnie might say that might have been a "big mistake".

Why? Because most of the time when I repeat the moves correctly with what I think is the right timing, the PS3 buzzes at me and I soon lose. On the Xbox 360 it rarely ever buzzed at me. After repeatedly failing on the PS3 I went back to the Xbox 360 demo version and once again I rarely missed a move. So I'm thinking something is wrong with the PS3 version or there's a trick to it.

So I read the few full reviews that exist and then Googled to see if anyone mentioned timing issues on the PS3 anywhere or in the game's FAQ. I couldn't find a single word about it.

Someone familiar with the PS3 game, please help me... is the PS3 version messed up or more difficult or is there a trick or some cue to know when to start my moves? I'd rather not have to buy it again on the Xbox 360 just because the PS3 version is unplayable for me. Unfortunately I don't see a tutorial or practice area in the game. I have to go through all of the introduction to try again.

Looks like that discount on Sleeping Dogs by buying Hitman: Absolution drops it to $24.99, which is mentioned in the description for Absolution.
Though atm I'm trying to decide whether or not to replace it with the full front covering Persona 4 one.
The documentation with the Persona 4 skin explicitly says its screen cover is not meant to protect the screen.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/11/25/the-drop-week-of-november-26th-2012-new-releases/

The Drop for this week:
PS3

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault - (Also on PSN/PS Vita: Jan 2013) – Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault returns to the series’ classic feel, camera, controls and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play. Even better, the addition of online features means you can experience the fun with your friends.

PSN

Ace Combat Assault Horizon – Ace Combat Assault Horizon intensifies the franchise, escalating combat to the next level with aircraft that are literally torn apart, spewing oil and debris across the sky. Players will engage in combat across the globe, dodging skyscrapers, and turning their enemies into fiery supersonic debris in both single player and online multiplayer. Never before has combat been so fast and in-your-face!

Men in Black: Alien Crisis – Join the Men in Black as Peter Delacoeur, a MIB Agent in training assigned to unearth enemy aliens who are planning to destroy planet Earth. With hidden surveillance and stealthy guards on the prowl, players must ambush confidential alien intelligence and stop all alien attacks. Men In Black: Alien Crisis brings exciting, realistic MIB Agent movements as players shoot, and dodge their way through action-packed levels to escape fierce alien assaults. Play through the game in two-player split-screen action or test your MIB skills against your friends in four-person “hot-seat” competitive action.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension (PS Vita/PSP) – Fans will have the ability to play as one of eight characters including Phineas, Ferb or Agent P and overcome obstacles, use wacky gadgets unique to each character to defeat enemies. In addition, players can collect items, upgrade gadgets and unlock new playable characters while navigating through 24 thrilling levels in a quest to battle the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz and his robot army to save the world.

Fighting Vipers – Fighting Vipers brings fast-paced, brutal street-fighting action to the PS3.

Sonic the Fighters – A port of the Sega arcade game, featuring favorite Sonic characters fighting each other with unique special moves.

Virtua Fighter 2 – The first true 3D polygonal fighting game, Virtua Fighter brought to the table life-like animations and a fighting system that favored realism over fireballs and dragon punches. With Virtua Fighter 2, the series hit full stride with improved animations, a significant increase in the moves arsenal, fully texture-mapped graphics and a much speedier pace. While other 3D fighters may have implemented differing fighting systems, the influence and impact that Virtua Fighter 2 made is undeniable. The rest, as they say, is history.

Demos

LEGO Lord of the Rings
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal

I jumped on that Music Unlimited 1 year plan for $12.. Got it on my Galaxy S3 also, haven't found an album yet that's not available.

I just put my P4 skin directly ontop of my normal screen protector.

Little thick around the PS button edges, but it's really not bad.

If it covers it, wouldn't that be considered protection lol?

That depends on the protection. Your baseball cap covers your head, but I wouldn't wear it riding a motorcycle
