Nope, there are a handful of slots for weapons to attach to the ship with a turret on top that can be set for manual or autofire and some bigger weapons on the sides that you can aim like the cannons in ACIV Black Flag.
Well then, maybe I will need to take a second look at it. Definitely has a following on PC.

The web store is up if you've been waiting for it to return.
I'm getting sign-in failures when I'm trying to access anything on the site that needs me logged into the site. Logged me out as well when it came back.

Tried another browser, showing as down again.

Can anyone give me any solid pros and cons or comparisons for Rainbow Moon... FFT is my favorite game of all time and I grew up with that genre. Still crank out the good ones (FFT, Fire Emblem, Shiming Force) all the time.

Ive never even heard of it until today

I found it slow and grindy for the sake of the grind. It also felt repetitive in a hurry and that didn't show any sign of changing. I didn't find the story interesting enough to keep me going either.

That's very disappointing. I couldn't get into Disgaea at all because of the required grinding.
If you're only doing the plot of Disgaea, which is like 10% of the game, there is very little grinding. If you want to get into the meat of the game, it's basically grinding designed by people that love to perfect massive grinding systems. Which is a good thing, if you're into that.

Plot -- goofy. western take on cheesy jrpg tropes. For example, iirc to get one warrior to join you, you have to find his comic book collection.

Combat - solid. It's srpg-ish style combat [disgaea, sort of, with grid based movement, patterned aoe spells/attacks (for example, a fancy attack move might require the space in front of you to be open, as you run up to attack enemy, and you end up behind enemy after attack.. this is all shown in an easy to understand way as you're deciding what to do.

other nice stuff -- you can skip any random battles. some hallways/etc in dungeons might have a permanent monster group you need to beat to pass, but most combat is skippable if you so desire. but the combat system is cool, so fighting isn't an issue.

Grinding -- I've put a lot of hours into it. I don't think much grinding is necessary at all, unless you're a completionist. basically, when you level up the 'potential' max of all your stats raise, but you need to invest pearls to raise them. you earn pearls by killing enemies. If you insist on maxing every stat for every character, you will grind a ton. But if you just max relevant stats (warriors = strength, speed, etc) then you really don't have much of a grind at all. And if even that bothers you, a couple pieces of cheap dlc will remove even that (though it's not necessary).

the only complaint i had was that you need the killing blow to earn pearls; i bought dlc for a couple bucks so I'd never need to plan out the killing move while playing since I found that annoying, others may not mind.

Is space flight still limited only to the x axis (single horizontal plane) ?

was interested in it til I read a review awhile back that mentioned this. Maybe it's been updated since the review or they hit the wrong buttons. Can't view videos atm.

It's not really a space flight sim. You're a space trucker that hauls stuff across the galaxy and occasionally gets into fights, so it sticks to the one plane. You'll have to wait for No Man's Sky if that's the thing that kills it for you.

Personally, I don't like games that you have to grind to one-turn a boss, or your party wipes. Grind to level 1000 and one-turn Laharl! Or he'll do 10000000000000 damage to each of your party members!

Oh Sony... Sony, sony, sony. You made it through Christmas AND New Years, I was so ready to be a smug bastard about PSN sh!t talk.

Bollocks.... Simply bollocks.

I knew that crash bandicoot t-shirt would be there undoing.

Hello Games is already killing me with the coming "Soon" = "Juoon".
Was hoping to be halfway to a decent ship by now :( at least they put a June date out there to quell the fervor.

The space trucking was great in freelancer and galaxy on fire 2 and was hoping for a bit more of that style on ps4.
S.p.a.z. was good with similar limits but different viewpoint unless the 4x looking screen shots are selection screens and not market data.

Thx for the info more mulling it over for me unless there's some beefy launch discount to do the thinking for me ^_^

Eh, Disgaea isn't made for everyone. No game is. But Disgaea grinding isn't 'grinding' in the traditional sense. For example, spinning in circles forever in Rogue Galaxy in one section of the map trying to get rare creatures to spawn for hunter licenses, or killing the same mobs over and over in [jrpg] to level up for a boss.

In disgaea, the entire game is -built- around grind mechanics, and they turned it into the meat of the game via randomized item dungeons, endless exploration, etc. It's a puzzle, if anything, trying to maximize time spent in item dungeons, upgrading weapons, etc... a min/maxers paradise.

Now, that's not totally for me (though i do appreciate a touch of disgaea now and then) but i'd hardly criticize disgaea for being 'grindy' when it's done intentionally and interestingly. there are plenty of truly 'grindy' times in many other rpgs that are just boring, mindless, put a rubberband around the controller and hope for random hit-x-to-win fights. That's not disgaea.

My complaint is less about the grind, and more about grinding because it's the only real mechanic to beat something. It's why I hated Terranigma, and why I didn't like Class of Heroes.

In the former, you had to be a certain level to do more than 1 dmg to a boss, because your damage falls off a cliff being underleveled one single level. I gave up then because even when I went back to grind, there wasn't any enemies to grind on.

In the latter, it's another instance of if your below a certain level, your hit ratio will be close to 0%, and your party will wipe first turn cause you missed your OHKO attack.

Disgaea is the same with end game big bosses.

Against better judgement, I bought the Cabela game. If you ever wondered what it's like to virtually gun down 20 hyenas in 4 minutes, now you can find out.

I hate myself.

Yea, I really liked it. At least they're back on the right track. I wouldn't mind them taking a year off to develop the next one though.
Well looks like they're skipping 2016 and the next one is coming in 2017. Empire which is going to be set in Egypt. I'm glad they're doing this, Syndicate was pretty good so now they can take some time and build off of that.

Plus, I just got :ps3: AC Rogue which I've never played so I'll get my 2016 AC fix by playing that.

Hopefully this isn't just going to be a one time thing and they're going to give each game more time in development.  Not like it's bad for the series since the games should come out more polished and allow more time for people to get interested playing an AC game again.  Though maybe they'll stop racing to the $9.99 price point on their titles if they don't have to maximize the sales of the game in 3 months before they start the hype train for the next one.

Was reading an article and sadly, it looks to be a one time thing. They're going to use 2016 to push the movie which comes out in December so that's most likely the reason to move the game to 2017. At least for the next AC game we can expect a pretty polished game then it's back to yearly glitch filled games at launch.

Statement from them on 2017 Empire rumors

"We can’t comment on rumor or speculation. We’re always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin’s Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!"

With the 2 side scrolling AC games and the movie coming out this year, makes sense to not make people entirely sick of the series. edit - posted this without seeing the response above me...

You would think as Ubisoft you would want the movie to push a new game.. but with no games out, this won't happen.  By the way, I thought Rogue was real good, but sadly with no next gen console release it feels like an inferior game even though it's actually a highly polished version of Black Flag.  For me I have Unity and Syndicate Gold Edition sitting unopened on my shelf so they will be my AC fix for the year.

Rebel Galaxy, the space capital ship combat game from the developers of Torchlight, is out on PS4 this week.
Oh thanks for the heads up. Ive been keeping an eye on a decent sale for this on STEAM and wasn't aware it was coming to consoles. Screw PC i'll snag it on the PS4 later when its on sale or something

I wasn't even aware of this game until this thread.. the game looks great from the giant bomb video Frisky posted. May have to get it if it comes out at a promotional price.

Was finally able to get in the webstore today.  I decided to just go ahead and get Breach & Clear while it's cheap so I don't have to open my retail copy.   Anyway, the store is working again... so if you had something you wanted to get before it updates now is a good time.
