The workaround is Sony taking the loss, which is something they won't do.
Obviously it isn't that simple. As I mentioned before, other merchants do it without the minimum and I doubt they're eating those costs. I buy so frequently from store that I normally don't mind having leftover funds, but it doesn't need to be that way. $5 for a .49 Soundshapes DLC? I'm sure some people just don't bother.

I don't understand why people say stuff like this. Are you never going to buy anything from the PSN store again? Is $5 so much that you can't have it tied up in PSN credit?

Other merchants hold and bundle small transactions to try to limit processing losses. That's why you, for example, get a receipt from Apple that'll include several days worth of small dollar iTunes Store purchases.

I'm not defending Sony's $5 minimum--it should probably be $2-2.50--but it's not irrational. And it's in line with industry norms. Steam is also a $5 minimum fund.

Not that your question is germane to the point at hand, but I've already said it doesn't matter to me. I perpetually have odd amounts of credit left over. It shouldn't have to be that way.

It isn't so much irrational as it is impractical. If what you say is true of Apple, then Sony should employ a similar practice. Or, at least work out an arrangement with CC companies/paypal. In this regard, the PSN store seems to be just the opposite of the "industry norm", actually. Also, I've bought several things from Steam and was never forced to have a minimum.

Everyone does realize that a huge merchant like BBY that has millions of Visa and Mastercard transactions a year and has deals worked out with those companies still pays like $1.20 minimum on a credit purchase and this was around three years ago before the fees started going up.  That's why disgruntled employees will use their CC's to purchase a bottle of pop that costs them under a dollar on their break.

I've never really had a real issue with my 8 GB card either. I am able to have at least 2 vita games at any time then have a group of minis. If you can concentrate on one game then it isn't that big of a deal. I was able to power through Uncharted in a week to open up space for Persona. Just have to wait to play other games.

Yeah but you know that 95% of us have game ADD.

I didn't think it was too repetitive but having played through it and sold it off I don't really feel the need to play it again. It's a beautiful game for sure. Looks great on the Vita. I'll wait for Legends to get another fix. I'll probably wait until it drops in price though after it's release.
If I was going to have a complaint about Rayman Origins on the Vita it would be that it's single player only and the game just begs to be played with multiple players.

Question about sound shapes DLC.  Is it worthwhile for someone who just enjoys playing though the single player levels?  Or is it only for people creating levels? (not me)  Thanks.

You play 60 games at a time? Delete the ones you're done with.
c'mon. are you being intentionally difficult? i want easy access to all the games i bought. is that really a hard concept? if i beat a game and am looking for something to play, i want to be able to go to, say, my 'psp rpg' screen and see everything. same for ps1, etc.

i want to see my entire Final Fantasy collection. not just the one i know i'll play next.

do you have 1000+ items in your download list (i don't know that i have 1000... but it feels endless)? because if you do, you'd understand why i never want to venture into it to 'find' something i bought (though honestly, i've probably forgotten about it if it's not a bubble, anyway).

and yes, i know about the CMA. I use it begrudgingly, because it's a slight improvement.

you're the one that asked about people with full 30gig cards. Ultimately, here's the thing -- managing a full card is -always- difficult. it doesn't matter if it's 8 or 16 or 32 or 128... once you're full, you need to spend time figuring out what to move/delete/download.

that's why i want grey'd out bubbles for things i own but don't have on my system. that would solve my issues, because then i won't forget i own something and can properly organize my collection without relegating stuff to deletion or the abyss that is CMA.

just bought rayman origin and the original rayman, and hitman from PS+ is a bonus, if my backlog keep going like this i might cancel my ps4 pre order and just buy it some time later, i still need tales of xillia, last of us, kingdom hearts,  and a lot of other ps3 games.

i hate not to have free time :|

As someone who has to delete crap off their 32 gig Vita card too, I'd like DL list sorting/filtering at a minimum.  It would be nice if I could filter by Vita, PSP, PSOne, PS3, ect.

The PSP games are first to go whenever I have to delete stuff (only have 2-3 left, and they are all less than 300 MB).  Pursuit force got deleted last night in favor of Rayman Origins.  PsOne games are probably next to go.  I could delete some Vita games I've beaten, but I keep telling myself I might go back at sometime and finish up trophies or re-play them.

Glad I have a 1 TB HD in my main PS3 so this isn't an issue (yet).

I'm sure gettinmoney was voted "Most Intentionally Difficult" in high school.

It's the principle of the thing. $5 is not a lot, but if you have a tight monthly budget and you just missed having enough credit to buy a game by 40 cents, it's frustrating. I wouldn't mind putting a dollar extra down to cover the cost, but $5 is too much, especially if you're not planning on buying another PSN game this month. That's money wasted in PSN credit that could have been budgeted elsewhere for the month.

If any of these 3 things interest you then it should be worth it:

1) Create levels

2) Play Beat School levels

3) Like a lot of easy silver trophies

Otherwise, it is probably not for you.

Yes, that is the biggest tradeoff and something I try to mention anytime someone asks which version is better. The co-op is crazy good and gives legs to portions that otherwise might seem a little repetitive. If I could only choose one, that'd be the deciding factor for me. Seems a lot of people just buy both versions, though, lol.

i had no idea a game like Rayman Origins had coop. I don't even know how they'd implement something like that in a platformer. I mean... yea, i just don't get it. I love the game, but man, if someone else messed up my perfect run i'd throttle them.

(note - i'm now officially used to playing PJM solo. As much as i miss the fun my wife and i had playing coop, it's really nice being the tower defense pro w/o telling someone else where to dance.) Playing off an on, first island almost rainbowed. Great game, still one of my top three tower defense games ever.

Speaking of dancing I think that's one of the best things about PJM in my opinion. It creates this great dichotomy where time is every bit as valuable as gold and gems and if you don't use it wisely you can get yourself into a bit of trouble. That also solves the problem a lot of tower defense games have where you get to a certain point and you just sit and fast forward until it's over because there's nothing left for you to worry about.

Remove PJM and this sounds like an analogy to backlogs ;)

Um..what? Co-op platformers go back to SNES days. Donkey Kong Country? Mario? Nintendo is the king of co-op platformers. Are you just intentionally being difficult?

Well, if you're going for the timed runs or doing those god-forsaken treasure chest chases, then co-op play obviously isn't ideal. You'll probably end up strangling one another. Playing with a partner in this instance is mostly about enjoying the ride (while collecting as many lums as possible). The controls are simple and responsive enough that even little kids can play, and more importantly you're not penalized for dying. In some ways it feels like this game was partially designed for co-op, and with Legends, we see ubi really pushing that notion. I'd say its co-op is second only to donkey kong country returns, though that game is arguably less accessible.

As for having to explain to your wife the mechanics of TD, I can understand how the initial hump could be painful, but after a few rounds shouldn't she be up to speed, lol? Becomes more about logic and resource management after you get the swing of how to play. To me, co-op is about the only redeeming quality of TD. Maybe I'll give Monster another go (only played it once).

Welllll, to be fair (haha, sound like @affa), the sort of simultaneous co-op we see in Origins, DKCR, Kirby or NSMB wasn't used very often before. Understandably so since platformers require a good amount of precision and timing. Rayman and Donkey Kong get it right, but I think NSMB has terrible co-op that amounts to nothing more than annoying the shit out of your partner. Wii U version might be better, though.

Smart-assery aside, it's a beat-em-up, so it's a fairly simple game, but it has some modern components like unlocking combos and the like that help give it a lot more depth than the Double Dragons and Streets of Rage of yore. It has a fun sense of humor, and is a great game for some couch co-op.

the only games i think i played on snes were chronotrigger and shadowrun. i'm not really a fan of platformers in general. as for nintendo, i've only really played rpgs even on the wii/gamecube. and nes was all about duckhunt. i thought mario was 'take turns', but maybe my memory is bad.

i only play to rainbow, and rainbowing some of the hard levels requires precise timing / build order. my wife is fun to play with because i like doing things with my wife, but she has a habit of running into enemies (losing gold) or building the wrong thing. she also likes to run and get gold the second it drops, rather than using the time wisely to dance until the last second. i love my wife dearly, but she plays games to have fun. i play games to master them. very, very different way of looking at things. i have to pretend not to care when gold gets wasted, lol.

some people like games where you roll the dice and move whatever it says, with no strategy. other people like to play games like risk. tower defense in particular is all about optimization, something i love and my wife couldn't give two shits about.

Anyone here have an opinion on Castle Crashers?
It's great and even better with friends online. Beat it thrice and bought it on 360 when it came out and then again on Steam when it came out for PC.

Sure she just loved when you bossed her around or told her she was doing it wrong. ;)

Is this the lowest Sound Shapes has been? I swear I saw it for less recently. Thinking of snagging some of the DLCs and waiting for a bigger drop on the core game(s).

any chance of seeing a deal or free for Ps+ on dead island goty any time soon

So I'm about halfway through Tomb Raider now and while many elements of the presentation are still annoying and hard on my eyes they haven't given me anymore headaches at least.  The problem I'm running into now is that I just feel zero motivation to actually play the second half.  It's like I've seen everything I need to and I'm full sort of... full.  Which isn't to say that I dislike the game but something's just not clicking.  Maybe it's that it's too Ass Raider's Creed or these big open areas that my OCD forces me to wander through picking up every little thing I can before moving on or just the story.

Maybe it's just the weight of the hype; I went into Last of Us expecting to be underwhelmed but expecting TR to be the pinnacle of the series.  If I wasn't around eight hours in I would just trade it to break even while I can and come back to it when it hits $10 but I'm not going to want to just up and replay that much or be lost half way through.  If I force myself to keep with it is it going to be worth it?

those are a lot of silver trophies, thanks for the quick response guys. I just started sound shapes on the vita and I really liked it so I think I'm going to grab all the dlc packs.

I don't think Plus has ever done a GOTY edition. If that's what you want, your best bet is to look for a sale somewhere else.
thks i just said F****K it and bought it,now i wish 1 thing dont happened it goes on sale for 5 or Free

I really enjoyed my time playing Tomb Raider. I also felt this compulsion to try to find every collectible before I moved on, but I finally said fuck it. After you beat the game you can go back and find anything you missed. They only add a little XP anyway. But yeah, I'd say its worth playing to the end.
