Anyone know why some of my free Vita games (Disgaea, Ninja Gaiden, Pinball Arcade and Knytt Underground) have expiration dates of 1/2015 and others (Jet Set Radio, Wipeout, RetroCity Rampage, Gravity Rush) have dates of 10/2013?

I know I'm paid to PS+ until 1/2015

Was your previous expiration date 10/2013? The dates are set when they are first downloaded, so older PS+ games can be out of date in that regards.

That makes sense Frisky. I bought the 12 month, get 3 free whenever that deal was and the new date is 15 months later. But I hope it gets updated and the old games continue to work until 2015. I need to finish a whole bunch of stuff on the Vita and PS3.

They'll still work. I believe when that date comes, the games will just ask to check online that you still have a PS+ sub and adjust the date accordingly.

anyone have any feedback on Class of Heroes vs. Class of Heroes 2?   As in, should i play the first one first?  Or is it such that improvments in 2 are more important than playing through 1?

I played DK64 since I loved the DKC games, but the focus on shooting was a turn-off since I liked the potential of that world a lot. Not liking that turned me off of Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and pretty much anything else Rare did from then on. It wasn't until I could get BK Nuts & Bolts and Kameo for dirt cheap on XBL that I gave them a good shot and found them to be enjoyable. Nothing amazing, but enjoyable for a good price.
I find to DK64 to be the worst of Rare's platformers(the shooting that you mentioned also it had too much collecting, I really didn't like having to revisit the levels with different Kongs). I still recommend Banjo Kazooie if you get a chance, if you like the first J&D I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it.

I'm still deciding if I really want the Rayman games from the sale or not.(2 and 3, have Origins on Vita)

I'm slightly confused about the price of the Ratchet and Clank collection. Isn't the normal price 19.99? I checked the store and it said 29.99. I know the sale price for PSN Summer Blast was 14.99 and 7.50 for plus. Weird.

If you like the platformers of that era, like Banjo Kazooie, I would probably grab Rayman 2 Revolution. Personally that was my favorite platformer of that generation.

I picked up the first one, Rayman 2 Revolution (the non-vita version), and Origins (couch co-op for the wife). The game I'm most excited to play is Revolutions because I neglected to get it when it was originally released. There also seems to be a lot praise for the game so it was a no brainer for me. Couldn't pull the trigger on Rayman 3 because the guilt-log weighed me down once again.

In hindsight, I think I would have been better off getting 3 after playing Rayman 1 for a little while... platforming feels really stilted and awkward. Haven't tried it on Vita yet so hopefully this will improve.

Class of Heroes 1 uses a system where you can only have a certain number of spells each (completely like Wizardry or any D&D spellbook).

Class of Heroes 2 fixes a lot of the flaws and annoyances the first game had, but allows mages to have an MP pool which allows casters to have far more magic. Also, some of the spells in CoH2 are super broken.

If you want to play a lot of dungeon crawlers, you can get CoH1 first but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it since the stories barely connect and you won't miss anything of importance.

i cant download hitman for some reason. it keeps saying there's no space left but i have 23gb left and hitman is only 16. anyone know why i cant download it?

thanks for that! i'm in psp rpg overload/overwhelm mode, have too many to play, and worst of all, want to buy z.h.p. unlosing ranger, cladun, and chronotrigger instead of playing the ones i have. meanwhile, whenever i do go to play one, i end up playing pjm vita because it's so 'pick up and play'.

i would welcome a huge psp/ps1 mega-sale on psn. make everything on psp in the $2.50 to $5 range for a week and my money would leap out of my pocket.

I want Payday 2 but I feel like it's a game that you need to play with friends to get the full enjoyment out of and I don't believe any of my friends will ever buy it. :(

All this talk of pjm makes me want to try it out, but with no demo and above $10 price tag, I just can't justify it. I liked ninjatown for a little bit on the ds, but got bored of it after a while. Is that how pjm is? I won't be doing any coop, just single player.

If it's like the first one it will be not fun without friends.

I have no idea what Ninjatown is. PJM is tower defense and one of the best takes on it I've played and much more hardcore than it looks on the surface. Since it dropped it's been the thing I've played most across all systems and after entirely expecting to regret splurging the $12 it's one of the best gaming purchases I've made in a long time.

pixel junk monsters is well worth the money, especially if you haven't played it before. i've already played many of the levels on the ps3 and it's still worth it.

it's basically an original/interesting take on tower defense.

you are a little tiki dude protecting your young. there are trees set up on each level in various patterns, and you can turn any tree into a weapon (from arrows, to cannons, to flamethrowers, etc).

where pjm is different from most tower defense is that in most, you 'point and click' wherever you want to build/upgrade. in pjm, your dude needs to be on a tree to build there, which means you're always running around doing stuff. even if you don't want to build something, if you stand on an existing tower you 'dance' which gives the tower upgrade experience. towers upgrade either with kill experience, dancing, or spending gems that drop from some enemies.

since you're effectively -always- doing something, either running around or dancing, or upgrading in some way it (generally) avoids all of the drudgery of some tower defense games where you just hit 'speed up' and watch it play itself.

rainbowing a level (perfecting it, normally you can let 19 through) can be quite difficult on harder levels, and as such it's a great challenge.

it's definitely in the 'best of genre' short list for td games.

Ninjatown is also a tower defence game. All tower defence games seem the same to me, so maybe I'll wait for another price drop or even better, ps+ freebie.

Thank you for that detailed synopsis. I think that's what bored me eventually with ninjatown, you set everything up ahead of time and then watched it play out and hoped for the best. Active involvement may keep me interested.

ill be your friend :whee:
No one wants to be my friend. :joystick:

Anyway, I've been giving Tomb Raider another chance and this game shows just how much of a broken human being I am. Was about 2/3's of the way through
shantytown
then and resolved that I would just get through the game and collectibles be damned. Went OK through the next few sections where there were few to no shiny things to collect, soon as I got to the next big area though I started picking up every damnable yellow thing in sight while telling myself it was the last one. Now I'm on the
beach
still collecting every yellow thing in sight and worst of all talking to the people for an achievement that I can't even get because I missed parts of it earlier in the game! Talk about issues.

It's in the OP. Always got to check there first because Frisky will have that updated within a couple hours and he feeds on the souls of those who don't.

I'll be jumping on Rayman 2 and Origins for Vita. Bummed Rayman Revolution isn't available on the handheld, but I think these will be good entry points into the franchise for me.

Yeah, I really wanted to play Rayman 2 on Vita but with all that's missing from the PS1 version compared to the N64 version I remember I don't think I can get it so Revolution it is for me. Maybe they'll have dropped an update once the PS4 is out to make PS2 classics work on or stream to Vita and I'll be almost to it in my backlog (five years from now).

Oh, that's the dream. Being able to play Rogue Galaxy, DQ Vlll, RE 4, Dark Cloud 2-- all on the go? Man, I'd gladly rebuy my whole friggin' PS2 library for that.

Oh yeah, I know I like the game(use to have it on N64). I'm just not sure if I'll give it another go or not. My memory of it is kinda hazy since that was the last time I played so I'm leaning towards grabbing it. Not I'm waiting until Monday to make sure a better sale for other games isn't announced with the Plus update.

Now if those games would just release on PSN already. Though I have a feeling a remake or enhanced port for DQ VIII is being considered if not planned already.

That right there. I am completely bored with tower defense games as a whole but PJM is one of the best. The micro-managing is where it shines but its still basically down to trial and error until you find the pattern just like all the rest though.

Having a weird issue here with my friends list. For some reason its only showing the last sign in status of like 7 people, and for everyone else (Like 70+ people), they are all offline with no last sign in date. (I know SOME of them are online).

Anyone ever had this happen before? Signing out did nothing, and nothing seems to be wrong with my net. (I could even get online in Dragons Crown)

Yoshida has confirmed we don't need a PS4 to get the free PS+ titles offered on the system. Most of us probably know the answer to this but a confirmation is nice.
That's great that it will continue to work as it does now. Anyone with PS+ will want to grab those games even if they aren't getting a PS4 at launch. The better the games offered, the more likely people will pick up a PS4 sooner rather than later. Hopefully some of the PS4+ games like Outlast, Secret Ponchos, Don't Starve etc are actually good.

Don't Starve has reviews out for PC and is very well received. Based on the reviews I've read, it would have been a day one buy for me. From what I've read, it's a survival style game, sort of an action rogue-like with a hint of minecraft via a complex crafting system, etc. Probably not for everyone, but definitely for me.

Secret Ponchos - gameplay looks rad, but i'm a sucker for dual stick shooters.

Outlast -- iirc, they released a significant amount of gameplay footage. i didn't watch it, because i didn't want to be spoiled, but people who did said it looked very good. survival horror.

AND...

nothing to do with PS+, but everyone should check out the new trailers for Galak-Z (another of the indies shown during e3), a anime-infused space shooter with Macross style missle spam and absolutely beautiful explosions. it's not a true dual stick shooter, because it looks to have thrust and momentum... but that trailer just blew me away. The missle lock-on/spam is just picture perfect... it's like watching Star Blazers as a kid just got real.

It even got dinged in most reviews for some launch issues that the developer has fixed since and I believe there's a hefty content update in the works. Speaking of which there's actually on the main menu a common language thing that says when the game last received an update as well as a countdown to when the game will receive it's next update which is just a great touch for those that aren't rabid enough to stalk the developers.

Great game though, sort of a Diablo-ish controlling, rouge-like-ish, game of survival with that sort of pen and ink illustrated art style that makes me think of Poe. Somehow it manages to be alive and vibrant while being drab and hopeless.

yeah this has been happening to me too. I can't figure out what is causing it, but it just randomly won't show some people as online when they are and does what you are describing (no last sign in date or anything). Very odd, but I just shrug it off and usually it fixes itself in a bit.

All I have to say about Tomb Raider is that beating the game just now was not worth the $7.50 TIV loss I took by not trading it in yesterday like my gut told me.

Frisky or anyone else that knows,

Just got a Vita and curious when the last time was Square Enix and XSeed put their PSP library on sale. Got all the Persona downloads on sale and am selling my PSP disk for more than the download costs on Amazon, but am hoping for a sale on the Square Enix/XSeed libraries so I can get downloads of all of those games as well.

Thanks in advance.

i'm pretty sure xseed occasionally does price drops, but rarely does sales.

and square enix... definitely does sales like the huge final fantasy one, but still needs to get their act together and get all of their psp games on the store.

I've had that happen to me before with people who have Vitas. When they signed on through a Vita, they would disappear off my friend list, never on that scale though.

So waiting for it to drop to $10 is not a bad idea then. I've been itching to but this game, but have somehow managed to keep my money

it will probably be $10 come black Friday. My feelings on TR are very mixed at the moment, especially because I did enjoy myself, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is that I really wasn't overly fond of. Other than the GPS caches and challenges; those can go die in a fire.

Whats Disgaeas normal price? Ive been debating getting it for the hell of it since its by far my favorite one in the series. I have it on ps2 of course but might be nice to play it on ps3 as well. Its just that with all the ps1 classics i want to get im not sure if i want to throw out 5 bucks for something i cant take mobile

I really wish ps2 classics could play on the vita or something. It would be a no brainer taking it on the go with the vita.

I had the same reaction. If i had to think about it i would say it was the story.. it sucked. You go from 'oh no i have to kill this deer how sad' to slaughtering scores of men in horrible ways in like 2 hours. If they were gonna try to go the emotional route they should have done a better job than that. Other little things like her just shrugging off getting impailed near the start just felt way off

other than that, the story itself was pretty dam uninteresting and the characters kinda all sucked. I only liked the old sea captain guy. Gameplay wasn't bad overall though
