SaySwap Game Trading Community - General Discussion
i dont think goozex gives commisions

got to say Goozex is the best out there .. im up around 5,000 pts just trading off games in my house i will never play. Hell just today i racked up 1200 pts trading 3 games ( 200, 400 and 600)
SaySwap appears to be a pretty decent trading website, but I say go with Goozex because just about all of us are already members, and the guy who runs the site is a frequent CAGer and has listened to many of our suggestions for the website.

LOL

i want my 2.50 back , its been a week i got 5 games picked where there are showing as other people having yet i never got matched

That's really odd. I was signed up for less than 3 hours and I got a confirmation that a game had shipped for me! Not bad for 2.50, but I don't think I can justify $5.00 per trade...

I have joined SaySwap.com I have been a member for a week now. I bought "trading tokens" and selected about over 20 different games that I wanted. I have not heard anything yet. Has anyone else tried this with any luck???? Let me know.

I signed up last night, and got an e-mail within 2 hours telling me that, not only had I matched, but also that the sender agreed to ship. I only bought the one 1/2 price token, cause I can't justify $5 per trade. I guess you just have to get lucky, basically, and get matched with people that are actually willing to send.

The shipping and some other factors make me very reluctant to sign up for this or any othe similar service.

I'll admit I'm concerned with the shipping, but I'm willing to take a cart-only GBA game with the free points I got for signing up. If it gets effed up in the mail, I'm only out $2.50. If it gets here in great condition, sweet, I just got Harmony of Dissonance for $2.50 :) But yeah, I would definitely be worried if I had sunk any more money into this. So far, my preference for trading is with GameTZ and Goozex, but we'll see how this works out.

good luck?
Yeah I think I wasted $2.95
ahh........
how did you managed to lose $2.95??
you brought 1.0929 of a token?

I got my complete copy of Kingdom Hearts 2, but I think I lucked out. Others on GameTZ have reported success with choosing 10 pt games with no instructions & no case, but my 30 point game with everything must've been the exception.

I got my Pokemon XD in the mail with manual and insert. Bought a Gamecube case from nintendo.com and got a complete copy of Pokemon XD for around $5 total spent. I consider myself lucky though.

Goozex is a much better way to trade games like this.

so far I've got Capcom vs. Snk 2 for the PS2.

I have Gradius V, Kingdom Hearts 2 & Driver Parallel Lines in waiting...I might just give up on GamerShare.

I just got an email saying Metal Gear Acid has shipped.

I have a few old games available there, but I'm thinking about dropping them because I don't want to worry about the hassle of shipping them out and potentially not using the points. There's no clause I missed in the terms of service saying you need to participate, is there?

I've been on SaySwap for a few weeks now. Every few days, I go and add a few more games to my list. I'm at around 20. So far, nothing.

Goozex hasn't been much better. I did get a match and a game sent to me, but it broke en route. To their credit, they credited my account with no hassle. But I have yet to see my first game come through there. Like SaySwap, I've been adding games every few days.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone was a member or planning on joining? It seems like a good site so far but needs a lot of improvement yet, which I was contacted by one of the owners and he said that they are coming in with a lot of improvements within the next week. I was contacted because I was looking for graphic design work.

Anyways anyone members and spread your opinion about the site!

Also it's a great site for anyone that doesn't live in USA because goozex hasn't allowed anyone out of USA in their site yet but they would be a good site to use once that is allowed.

Join at www.sayswap.com or if you wanna be really nice ask me to send you a invite so I get a free trading token. (Don't have to, just making this thread for opinions)

Hey guys,

I have Medal of Honor: Rising Sun and Jak coming by two different people and both should be arriving today or Monday. I have shipped out one so far which was Dead or Alive Ultimate. If anyone wants to add me as a friend look up Scruffy and add me.

I was contacted by one of the owners and he said there is going to be major changes in the site soon. So keep looking at it and I might be helping them with graphic designing so if you guys have any opinions and ideas let me know and I will contact take him directly on the phone and tell them what you want. If you make a list that would be best. Thanks!

Ok guys, I wrote SaySwap.com a letter about what they need to change and what is good about the site. If you have anymore suggestions or comments please lay them to me and I will get them to the guy that is working on the site. I can talk to him on the phone and through e-mail so he'll get all your guys points across if needed to, this way you get a site you want. Here is what I sent him:

Disadvantages / Suggestions:

1. The price for a trading tokens is way to high compared to any other site for a trading token. $4.95 isn't something everyone will pay to trade a game because they might as well go to ebgames.com and buy a bunch of crappy ones for $5. The price should not be more then $2 for a trading token, where as most are only $1 per token.

2. A search engine for find members with games that they want or games that they have and other people want should be created. People are being really stressed on finding gamers to trade with and talk too.

3. A message forum or message board should be created for all users to post at and talk to each other. It's to hard talking on Hot Chick's message board because some users actually think that's a girl that trades with them and just hit on her. For a good example of what a message board should look like check out: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/

4. Don't allow people to post links to other sites for cheats, reviews or anything such as that. It drives people away from your site and then you don't get any business and possibly lose traders. Tell them they have to write out the codes and cheats or copy and paste them. This way they get more Swap Points and become a more dedicated member.

5. Come up with a chat room and show what users are online at the moment so people and chat and make trades faster and more convenient.

6. Once the site get's going and you get most of the major problems fix. Graphics and banners for games need to be made so users think it looks cool and want to play the games. A good example is http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/gta4/index.html?q=Grand Theft Auto see how it says: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas well behind it, it has characters and game members of what the game is like. Make up banners like that for the games listed members enjoy that. It's not very hard to do.

7. Have deals of the month, or competitions. I realise you do that now but come up with new ones and be creative. Like best review for a game, or best cheat, or most trades this month. Stuff like that really get's users to work on helping the site.

8. Need a clear explanation on what games are available for trade at the moment and which ones are most popular for trading and wanted.

9. When mailing out games they should be sent in bubble wrap or cardboard protection envelopes. This protects them from getting wet more and from bending and scratching. No gamer wants to receive a game that is wrecked and no gamer wants to send a game the way they were told and get blamed for it being wrecked when they did what was said. They have bubble mailers for really cheap at Dollarama in Canada 3 for a $1 and I've seen them at other Dollar Stores also so suggest people to go there for them. Also you could create a spot where you could sell bubble mailers cheap to users so they don't have to worry about finding them.

10. Instead of free shipping because I'm sure some or most users don't use it anyways, lower the price of trading games. It's better all around. Members would rather pay $2 shipping and $2 for a trading token then. $5 for a trading token and free shipping.

11. Allow the option of cases/boxes with the game. Some users want the case and some don't and it's up to the person sending the game if they want to send the case also. So just let it be an option it's up them on how badly they want a game or not.

12. Lower the free purchase tokens to 10 and add one 1 trading token instead. This will make more trades happen instead of people getting their free game and then pissing off. If they get any game it won't be worth a lot so it's better that way.

13. Add a section in member's profiles so they can add their collection of games not games that are available for trade or wants. Just games they have, this will get rid of people putting games in the available section of their profile and people will ask less if they can have that game.

14. Base the value of the games on user ratings for reviews, MSRP and release dates. Not just MSRP because that is sometimes over rated or underrated make it fair for the users trading and the ones that want games.

15. Add more stuff to the profile so users and can tell more about themselves.

16. Add a section for Strategy Guides. Lots of gamers like strategy guides to beat games completely and gamers would like to get rid of them if they don't have the game anymore. They usually sell for $20 to $25 CAD but sold used for only $3. So 2 or 3 Purchase tokens would be great for those.

17. Make the section of games related to the game they are reviewing actually make a game that is related. That section never seems to change on sayswap it needs to improve on that.

Advantages of the site:

1. You allow CANADIANS to be members. This is uncommon on most trading sites and is really comforting for Canadians to have place to trade. Great job on that!

2. Free tokens for signing up is always a bonus just got to be more careful on how much you trade but yes a bonus.

3. Profile is kind of like Myspace.com which is nice so users can share their thoughts and talk with people on their on profile.

1) Finding available games is too difficult. I have no idea if the games I selected have any chance of being traded, ever. I have no idea what is going on.

That's my list -- one item. I agree with many of the things in your list, but this is the most important. Yeah, the cost of tokens is high, but if the site actually worked, I might feel differently. I feel like I should have gotten something by now.

I've got 20 games in my list, and recently swapped out a bunch that I went out and bought. None of them are bargain basement titles, but they're almost all 20 point titles. I don't think I'm shooting for the moon here.

This tells me the site has no good games, or at least I'm not getting any of them, which is the same result for me. Why would I invest any time, effort, or money into this when I can't get anything out?

Hi blandstalker,

what is your name on SaySwap? I might be able to help you out. The people on sayswap right now are people who will basically only swap if you have a game they want. Which is not how sayswap is suppost to work. Though hopefully that will change soon. Let me know so I can help. Thanks!

This is what I have go so far. I sent out Dead or Alive Ultimate and right I have Jak and Daxter, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun and Breath of Fire coming to me. So the trade does work just depending on what you want I guess.

Yes this is annoying.

Also, either I'm doing something wrong or people are being idiots with posting their "games I have" list. Aren't those games that are up for trade? I'm getting users saying that they're not done with games they've listed! Why are they listed then?

RC

I think I've lucked out. I already received Wipeout Pure(psp) for 10 points, and now I have Super Dragonball z(ps2) on the way for 20 points.

I think I'd trade some games on this site but I'm going to wait a bit and see what changes they make over the next few weeks. As it is, even with the new changes the system sucks. After you receive a trade that game is automatically added to your "have" list, so this may be why you see so many games available that people won't trade. It seems like a way to artificially pad the available games on the site, and make it look like there is more than is actually there.

I personally think sayswap needs to make some major changes to be really successful... especially those $5 trades. OUCH.

I joined sayswap a couple days ago and still do not understand how you get a game. Does the sender pick from a list of people that want them game or does the system randomly match two people up. Or is their a waiting list or queue and you are in line behind the others that first requested it? I haven't listed any of my games on this site yet cuz i'm worried i'll rack up a bunch of points but never get any games.

Btw, you can look me up under Zodemere at sayswap.com and yes it is true i'm a full fleged girl gamer for many years now!

Hey Zodemere,

Didn't know you were a Cheapass Member, lol. It's me Scruffy from Sayswap. I think the system is random on selecting 2 people for a matchup. I've heard that might be changing though so the sender can choose who they want to send too.

You can always just lock the games for a while until you recieve some games back. It's also best to have a large want list so you have a better chance at getting games, but only if you know of games you want.

I'm locking all my games on SaySwap and Goozex. I've sent out about 6 or 7 games in the past week and have only had 2 mailed to me. Each wants list has some 40 + games on it. You should be able to pluck games from have lists. I really feel like I'm throwing away these games. Goozex at least tells you where you are in line.

RC

Well I've had the "have" list locked for a few days and have bumped up my "wants" list to 80 games. I really don't want half of these games but they hold good trade value. I still haven't had any hits on the "want" list where as my "have" list got many requests. Something doesn't seem right with this operation to me. I suspect it's loaded with young kids who think they're being funny screwing around with people. I have some chips I probably will never be able to cash in. Looks like I need to stick with Goozex and CAG .

Some new SaySwap promtions/news:

Well the floodgates opened for me on Monday and all sorts games are headed my way. I unlocked my stuff. I wish I could understand how this works because I had no deals for days then 3 or 4 within a couple of hours.

Site's down now...

I just registered but I'm a little confused about how the site works..

Added games to my Have list and games to my Want list. Since I don't want to ship anything out of my own until I'm certain this site will work, what do I do? It says I can get my first game without sending anything..

Along with the 30 purchase points you get for registering, I need to buy one trading token myself, wait until one of the games on my Want list is available and I get it? Then, how long do you normally have to wait, or is there a way to see how many people have said game?

When I first signed up, I had a game matched to me within hours. Since then, I haven't had a single thing, despite having a token and points. I've even tried messaging users for a trade, either for points or even game for game, and I've been blown off each time. Sorry, but I've had far more success with Goozex.
i want my 2.50 back
I want my $2.50 back, and I also want the time I wasted on their site, building up a list of games I'll never see.

I have had several games on my want list -- I purchased tokens as soon as I signed up and I have the 30 points . I signed up in august and have yet to see any games my way.
I have had several games on my want list -- I purchased tokens as soon as I signed up and I have the 30 points . I signed up in august and have yet to see any games my way.
I had to add over 70 games to my want list before I got a match.
The match I got was Eternal Darkness for the gamecube.
Not a bad game, but it cost me 30 points (a value reserved for games that have a msrp above $40.. yea... right.. who assign these values?).
Did I forgot to mention that I didn't get a case even though I stated that the Case Jacket & instruction are mandatory. It wasn't the other user's fault. Seems like SaySwap mailing instructions explicitly states that the case shouldn't be send since the free shipping they provide is only worth $0.80 which is only enough for a mailer made of paper etc but not the case.

I'm having mixed success with the site. I have gotten stuff back but the majority of users just like to screw with you. They list lots of games (unlocked) but won't release them unless you have a match for them. This isn't how the site is meant to work. Yes this is ok to do if you lock a game but unlocked should be available to anyone with points and tokens to give up. There's a couple of users who "have" the entire Wii and PS3 catalog available and unlocked! There's also some really immature users who just spout off crap all the time in some language that I can't understand. Boy has texting and IM'ing made some kids really have some problems with writing! Oh, and you can't see the last time someone checked their account so your offer could sit there for weeks (biggest annoyance).

RC

Another issue I'm having with the site is that you can only direct request a game from one user at a time. I would much rather a system like on GameTZ where you can make offers to as many people as you want, and then when one person accepts, the system automatically declines all of the other pending offers for it. As RC said, you have no clue when each person last logged in, so I might have sent a request to a guy that hasn't been to the site in months, and it's the only request I can make for that particular game until I decide to cancel it and move onto the next guy. It's too much of a guessing game.
