I'm not even implying old guys are good at games just cause they're old, I'm simply saying they should recognize that 'dark souls hard' was fairly normal back in the day. most of my 8/16 bit era friends sucked at games then too(i was the guy who got called when they couldn't beat a game). so yeah I'm sorta saying if you sucked then you probably suck now and yeah sure, dark souls ain't for everybody :)

SONY STORE Glitch Alert - God of War: Ascension Ultimate Edition (PS3) - FREE

Some report it still works, others say it's fixed and now $8 at checkout. Might be worth trying. Just passing along the info in case anyone here swings both ways in gaming.  :whistle2:

EDIT: Looks like it's fixed. Damn.

I think this thread in general skews a little older. Buying a ton of games just for the hell of it with no intent of playing them is a sport for financially established people. If you're backlogging bundle fodder while staving off scurvy from your Ramen noodles diet, you should probably prioritize your spending better.
A kid in college got scurvy eating nothing but ramen and drinking nothing but coke. And this was a rich kid, he was just too lazy to leave his room to go to the food hall or even class. Was that you? You seem familiar with the topic.

It doesn't work now, but there may be some morans that don't realize they're getting charged after adding it to their cart. It got fixed a little over 10 minutes ago, I believe.

Even though Rogue-lite and Rogue-like are technically different, I usually boil them down to even the more basic ideas of random permadeath type stuff. Regardless, the use of either doesn't bother me.

Shows up as $8 at checkout for me. Had to check, I forgot I own it retail (standard, not ultimate).

Well Damn. :whistle2:(

Alright, ignore this and let's just go back to the Dark Souls, rogue -lite -like, authentic/fake food and shoe fetish topics...

No one took it that way. I'm saying that (many) older people don't have (as much) time for that nonsense. And the trend for easier games, so much as there is one, probably reflects the fact that the people who used to have that sort of time are still playing video games... just not for 18 hours a day in their parents' basement.

But then every third Greenlight title these days is all "Games these days are SOOO easy but not us because we're SOOO HARDCORE" so even if you think the mainstream games are going soft, you should still have plenty of reasons to throw your controller at the wall in frustration. A little somethin' for everyone.

Yeah, if you don't like challenging games, you probably won't like dark souls. Although I will say it's "fair" 95% of the time (in DS1 there are a few instances I think are a bit of bullshit, but it's few and far between), and it's more "unforgiving" than it is blatantly hard for the sake of being hard. And yeah you're right in that it's definitely not a rogue like, not sure how that got thrown in there.

Also, this is a really good bundle if you don't own any of the games. I'm not sure if it got mentioned here or not, and if you're a regular you probably won't find more than one or two games, at most, you don't own already. If you're a newbie though it's fantastic.

I actually didn't suck then. I also don't have the time effort inclination desire backlog etc. Plus back then I got one damned cartridge at a time and if I didn't like it tough shit so I was bored with too much damned time on my hands.

These days I'm all Sweet Brown.

Sifu brought to my attention that I tweeted this a couple years ago. Woops. I think it was for a contest or something.. that has to be it.

This whole hardcore gaming thing is really just for anti-social video game nerds who suck at shooters.  Back in the day if you were a real hardcore gamer you'd go to the arcade and challenge the neighborhood toughs in some Street Fighter.  Then consoles came along and they realized they had to keep a single person entertained long enough to justify charging a ton of money for games so they started making them super hard.  Then online MP has come to consoles in the last decade and so they don't have to make single player games super hard because people who really want a challenge or consider themselves hardcore will play CoD or BF online with other people.  These other superhard games are for the losers who suck at FPS MP but still want to inflate their e-peen by saying they made mario sprint and jump the fastest across a stage or they slayed the horned peen demon on their first try.

I suck at all games so I thank god for games like KF where I can be carried by teams of talented people as find places to hide each stage.

Really slaying your horned peen dragon is nothing to brag about

If anyone cares, Resident Evil 5 GFWL keys activate on Steam.

Looks like GFWL keys from Steam does NOT activate on Steam for extra copy this time. Maybe they fix this later, like they did with Dead Rising 2.

Wonder if this works for K&L, which worked on GFWL for games like RE5. Although, how would they know what game you were redeeming? =\

I tried my G4WL key from retail for Kane & Lynch 1 recently - didn't work then.

That was back when K&L Collection popped-up in the Early 2015 Square Enix Humble Bundle.

I should try it again, soon.

Would be nice if Square Enix, Eidos, and IO Interactive do one day add it to activate on Steam, drop G4WL support, and add Steamworks to it.

No chance of that happening. Kane & Lynch is a dead franchise. It cost io a lot of money and I doubt they'll even work on a third installment of the game.

How do you like it, so far?
Don't know. I'm still in the midst of my Skyrim re-re-re-re-re-re-re-∞-playthrough. But, now that I know my install is stable, I think I may jump back into DA:I. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to start a new character or just go through the DLC with my existing one.

The 50% off FS2015 is very tempting.... I know it won't be long before it'll be cheaper, but with semester start around the corner for me I won't have any time to play at all so it won't do me any good to save more money on something I won't be able to play by the time it goes on sale again...

I also noticed that Amazon matched the steam price, but it doesn't look like it activates on steam like the 2013 edition.

Anyways, looks like I have another day or so to make up my mind.

Yeah, I bought it...

BioWare game worlds always seem so hopeless. Every time shit bursts out of the pot and hits the fan, all you can do is put it back in to the pot and clean off the fan until the shit boils over again. Taking the pot off the stove doesn't ever seem to be a real possibility.

Just use the existing one otherwise you'll have to go through that damned Orlesian Ball all over again.

But you get to (sort of) pick the next female pope! :p

Not to nitpick, but arcades have always been the home of the hard-as-nails games. Some of the pre-NES era consoles were home to a few notoriously infuriating games because, at the time, games were very simple and consisted mainly of a few screens that got incrementally more difficult with each stage.

Once Mario emerged in the arcade and (more importantly) on the NES, Nintendo showed everyone how to properly roll out difficulty through the course of a game. Still, many NES games could be considered tough. By the 16-Bit era, many games came complete with an Easy mode and more storage allowed them to make longer games -- negating the need for extreme difficulty. At some point, developers began to spend more and more time crafting graphically beautiful games and it is almost as though it became more important for them to allow you to see the entire game and experience the full story.

Very few hardcore-difficulty console games remained, and those were mostly shooters. Since then, here and there you have seen eyeball-gougingly difficult games (still, predominantly shooters, but platformers have come back in vogue).

I understand that it is fun for some. They derive enjoyment from executing moves perfectly or from memorizing complex levels. Not for me though. I guess I fall into that "too old to be bothered" group. I like to experience the mechanics of the game, see the levels, enjoy the story, and then I'm mostly done with it. Additional difficulty levels are not for me.

Woah... I sure MysterD'd that one, didn't I?
