Now I'm confused, I thought the company who did Legacy 1 was bad, so them being gone is good... unless it's dotemu
I thought I'd replied...

Legacy 1 had issues because Capcom did not allow Digital Eclipse, the company that made it, to release bugfix patches for one reason or another for a long time. Once that got fixed up, the game became playable. This is basically the same problem DuckTales had, Capcom wouldn't allow the devs to release bugfixes. Capcom gonna Capcom.

I've had my share of issues with Digital Eclipse's ports in the past, but it seems they're now doing well since they have a more than competent team leader (Frank Cifaldi.) I've known him for over twelve years and the dude is perfect for that job.

Try playing as Horatio on your next game if you enjoy population management.
I'll have to here at some point. They were one of my favorite races in ES1. Also want to do a Sophons game again (tried them first) as I like their backstory and the bit of their story I got through. Been doing the Lumeris since science and money are the two things I go a bit nuts on in 4x (well, and expansion) =p.

Ok, I'm in the market for a new wireless keyboard and mouse (or at least a keyboard). What do you all suggest? Not looking for anything fancy at all, just needs an ok range with the ability to deal with some interference as it will have to transmit through my tv to the couch which my current one is having issues with. I tried the top rated Logitech on Amazon but the keyboard can't transmit through the tv well enough, keeps ghosting on me. I think it was $20 - $25 or so.

Was that the K400? The MK530 set is $25 at Best Buy this week.

I like the Logitech anywhere mice because you can use them on the couch cushions and stuff, but a keyboard with a built in trackpad (like the K400) would be good too.

In other comic book junk news, Amazon has all of Marvel's back catalog of graphic novels available for the Kindle on sale for like 80-90% off the vast majority of them.
Yeah, I picked up some Ms. Marvel trades the other day and God Loves, Human Kills and the Death of Ms. Marvel. I was going to buy even more, but Marvel just added some stuff to Comixology Unlimited and I figure binge reading for 1 month of Marvel Unlimited will be cheaper than buying a ton of trades.

Wasn't there also a stuttering problem in the music or something?

I only played MM1+2 and didn't really notice anything bad, except for the music I think. It was also really subtle, I think only headphones users would do it.

Talk to everyone. Walk back to Olvia and start hitting up all the NPCs and their quests. Then go to, uh, the next "city" to the east (starts with a V... Viedal?) and talk to everyone. Then head down to Heidal and talk to everyone.

The game does you a disservice by having you chase the stupid black cloud guy around and pouring xp on you like water (encouraging you to move to tougher places). Between those three places, you'll get a quest to learn about housing, a quest to give you a donkey, a quest for a free laborer and how nodes work, a quest to learn the marketplace, a quest to learn how horse taming works, a quest to learn how the crafting UI works, a quest for hunting and gathering meat, etc. I blew past 90% of this my first time through. Even if any mobs are trivial for combat xp, you'll also get a bunch of contribution points that you'll use to rent housing, connect nodes, employ your workers, etc. Plus some free tools, a musket, scrolls and other stuff. Also, all those NPCs you speak to "unlock" themselves for the conversation minigame you use to build up Amity (approval) with NPCs to unlock other quests or store items. So it's always worth it to speak to any named NPC you meet (you can usually skip the "Villager", "Farmer" or "Traveler" types)

The explanations aren't fantastic but the game does do a better job than I initially gave it credit for. But it also seems hellbent on making sure you never actually get to make use of them.
At least when I played, there was a way to ask the black sprite about various skills and he'll point you towards quests and tutorial quests pertaining to those skills. I used that before and it was pretty useful, so if anyone ever gets lost or skips over things by mistake, try that.

The Secret World re-launchs as Free To Play at the end of June.. with new combat revamp (read. less WOW style and more action RPG style)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgMWQ1tAJ_g
Very strange commentary there, lol. The TPS style reticule combat has always existed in TSW. I'm honestly stumped why they even said that was new. The combat overall and that entire video looks completely identical to the original game, graphically and otherwise.

That said, they definitely have tweaked the mechanics of each weapon greatly from what they said there. Swords building up chi, a heat meter for elemental casters, ammunition for firearms, chaos magic random effects, etc, all totally new from what I saw.

Looks nice, but it also looks almost identical to the original game barring some weapon mechanic tweaks. We shall see.

I loved the Secret World's ambience, writing, the world and the voice acting.  The combat was just ho-hum, WoW-archaic and boring style.  If the revamp was substaintial and fun, I would definitely come back.  It's free to play anyway

Another recently bought, Played some Mainlining tonight. Only on case 4 of 13, but that's with just an hour of play. Interface is cool, made to look like a desktop, gameplay is really really simple it's mostly clue hunting and using one or two commands. Game is good about not giving you much in the way of hints, which is good as it isn't too difficult (at least yet). Most of my getting stuck was just missing an obvious clue and a bit of confusion on how to use a site.

Fun, simple, adventure game so far. Probably nothing to really go out of your way for unless really fall in love with it (it does have a demo,  which is the first case). Been on sale as low as $5, which is a good price for what you get (imo).

What weapons did you use? Did you ever realize there was a key that switched your combat to TPS style with a target reticule?

From what was shown in that preview video, the combat mechanics are identical besides tweaks (like the heat bar, ammo, etc). Besides the fact that TSW doesn't use hitboxes (the TPS reticule basically just switches the movement/aim while it highlights and targets enemies), it's always been as close to an ARPG like Tera or BDO than pretty much anything else.

I'll second what Idiotekque said. Once you open up TPS it really has a completely different feel and is nothing like WOW. Now I used a char focused on shotgun so maybe if you use a melee or magic char the difference isn't as apparent, but I felt the combat did enough to differentiate itself from your typical MMO.

It was the MK270 which seems to be the lowest tier for Logitech. I would require a mouse just because I do do some light gaming from the couch and I hate touch pads. I'll have to look into the MK530, though I'm worried it would have the same wireless strength/issues even if it's a better keyboard and mouse.

Exactly, I've used pretty much all the weapons, so I will say that certain ones do make the TPS mode a lot more dynamic while others feel a little less so. Generally I think melee weapons like swords, claws, etc, don't really feel as exciting as others, while firearms, ranged magic (elemental especially), etc wind up feeling very fast paced and frantic in TPS mode. Much more like a ranged ARPG.

So my Razer Wildcat controller showed up from Newegg yesterday so I took it for a spin this morning and here are some quick thoughts about it.

It comes with its own carrying case with foam padding.  Pointless but cool.

The green stuff you see in the pictures is all stickers so you can either apply them yourself or not use them...  Not sure what i think about that.  Stickers suggest it might come lose at some point but it does give you an option.

Buttons: Those on controller's face all have very short paths (It takes longer to register a push on the XBone/360 controllers) and are quite responsive.

Sticks: They're good, I didn't feel they where much different than the sticks I'm use too.  (They aren't as concave on top but it didn't seem upset my hands.)

Triggers: They have locks that allow you to limit how far you can push them down (This in theory means you can fire a semi automatic weapon faster) but with them off it felt like a normal enough controller while driving in Forza Horizon 3.

I didn't use any of the new buttons...  (I did notice Razer Synapse didn't notice the controller so I'm not sure how configurable they are) and the controller does seem like its not cordless but I didn't open up the instructions, just plugged everything in and went, it did want to reboot my PC and did register at its own device (instead of just a 360 controller/etc when it setup so its quite possible it has more functions I missed.)

Oh, the cord is detachable but its way better designed than the plug in slot on the xbone controller...  So thats good.

It doesn't feel cheap and feels like I Xbone controller.

I had zero issues swapping from an Xbone to this...

Anyhow, I'll play around with it some more when I get more free time.

Is anyone else having a problem with connect not tracking some games?

I own Downwell and Renowned Explorers but connect will not let me have them.
I had that issue with Renowned Explorers earlier. I installed the game and it connected properly, but that's obviously not ideal when you own many of the games.

Neither installing the games or hitting refresh is helping.

I even tried hitting refresh with the games running. Nothing has worked so far.

I bought some old AD&D Gold Box games from GOG but that's it.  Once I thought about buying the old Starflight game but realized that I'd likely never try to play it and, if I did play it, the nostalgic novelty would likely wear off pretty quickly.  Plus you get the whole "Play in a tiny window on a modern monitor" thing these days if you don't want distorted blur-o-vision..
