Finally beat Thief, it took me 18 hrs on master difficulty. I did alot of sidequests in the beginning. The later parts of the game kinda suck, Thief is pretty weak but its an alright stealth game. 7/10

I wanted this to be good so bad.

The stream is on a Saturday 3pm-1am GMT. Is the game really that bad in terms of nudity?
Not that I can tell. I mean there's like 1 or 2 screenshots but I'm pretty sure those people had to zoom in to highlight what they did. I think if you are just playing without looking for it, you should be fine. Plus, it is the weekend so most people should be at home.

Truthfully, it's probably really quick near subliminal level flashes that you have to go to a great deal of effort to catch at just the right frame.

Who knew all the slow mo hunting for shots of Chun-Li's pixel panties would lead to a whole genre of games?

*Edited to add: Also from what I understand, the naughty aspects don't really come into play unless you add the free DLC. Not sure if there's any way to undo it once you get it so if you think you might not want to look at Anime butt and crotch flashes probably best to skip the DLC.

I blame Jessica Rabbit.

You should play Sureon Simulator 2013 and let us know whether it gives you Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

:whee:

(Hope it was nothing serious)

I just finished Penny Arcade's Rain Slick Precipice Ep. 1 and played a bit of Saturday Morning RPG, both of which used the same "turn-based RPG combat with QTE mixed in" as the South Park game, and while they were mildly entertaining, I can't imagine paying anything more than $5 for a game like that, even with the South Park name brand.

Those games are not even CLOSE to being in the same class. This is a big AAA production that has been in development for years, not some weekend warrior indie game made by 2 guys in pork pie hats.

I hope you're not talking about SM RPG... if you are, I'm sure the author would like to hear why you think that about his game. :p

I've played many "AAA titles that have been in development for years" that were complete and utter shit, and I've played many "weekend warrior indie games" that turned out to be a lot of fun, so this whole "AAA iz better than indie gamez lol" argument is invalid.

Have you played South Park?

Have you played South Park?
Nope, just watched gameplay videos of it and from what I saw the combat was exactly the same as the games I mentioned. Again, I'm just commenting on the similarities between the combat mechanics, can't say much about the rest of the game since I'm not really a South Park fan.

I dunno. Just seems if we're talking about valid arguments you should at least play something before commenting on it. I didn't particularly find the combat in SMRPG great, wasn't bad either. I just think something put out by Obsidian is going to have a little more polish than that.

Today's Daily:
Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams - Rise of the Owlverlord - $1.24 (75% off)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/246960/
Just wanted to put in a recommendation for those thinking of picking this up. I played through it a few weeks ago (so I wouldn't feel bad if it was added to the HIB11), and personally feel it's even stronger than the main game. It's short, but the levels have better variety, are more interestingly designed, and the music is even more freaking awesome than before (how is that even possible?). Well worth the dollar and change if you enjoyed the first game (wouldn't recommend playing Owlverlord first, since it's definitely more challenging).

But Charity South Park...

If we're talking valid arguments, saying "AAA is better than indie" is a matter of opinion and therefore invalid.

Saying "the combat mechanics are the same" is an objective statement therefore valid. I don't actually need to play the new CoD: Ghosts to know that it plays like an FPS; while all game in a certain genre will have it's quirks and nuances, the core game-play mechanic will stay the same. If I already know that I only mildly enjoy FPS games and would only pay upwards of $5 for them, I probably wouldn't change my mind even if it was made by God Almighty himself and featured the casts of all my favorite TV shows combined.

COD: Ghosts = Stalker = Darkness II = Bioshock = MoH: Warfighter = Far Cry 3 = Crysis = Borderlands = Team Fortress 2 = Half Life

But, all FPS don't play the same. Even within the genre some are miles better than others. So if you just hate the concept of an FPS, then yes, you don't need to play an FPS to assume you dislike it. That said, you can't say the combat mechanics of a game are the same without playing it. You can only assume and watching a video doesn't substitute. My point is, if you want to say you don't like certain combat mechanics of games you played, then sure, your opinion.

Just don't see the point of then trying to extend that to a game you haven't even played unless you just wanted a reason to chime in about a new game people are talking about with no basis.

That's an invalid opinion. One with with no basis.

Saying AAA is better than Indie is not invalid. Misinformed, maybe. Not always true, maybe. But if someone has actually played AAA games and indie games and that is their opinion, it is not invalid. It's also a logical conclusion just based on the time, energy and resources that go into AAA compared to indie games. It also depends on what you define as better. Some people think the prettier game is better despite gameplay flaws.

I like some indie games too. That's not the point. South Park is far more polished and has far more content than either of those games. It would be like comparing VVVVVV to DKC: tropical freeze, which would be a dumb thing to do because they're entirely different games on different scales.

I'm not even saying South Park is worth your $60, just saying it's strange to play those 2 games and draw conclusions on a completely different game. They're not the same.

It's more of a political action group, really. Always talkin' about politics and government 'n stuff.
Really? I thought it was a Colorado-based orphanage.

Don't disagree with much except this. If South Park: The Video Game looks anything like South Park: The Television Show, it deliberately looks terrible. I've seen a number of indies that look better than South Park and some other AAA titles. I think this also depends on how you define "pretty"; for me, anything that looks like Diehard Dungeon or EvilQuest fails to qualify.

Shit, you mean I've unfairly disregarded all those games after playing Quake?

That's an invalid opinion. One with with no basis.
Not in 'MURICA*. [religious slur][LGBT slur][racial slur] are causing the downfall of steam sales.

Yeah, I was just using it as an extreme general example and not with South Park. Give SP some credit though. Watch an episode from the 90s compared to one today and they've improved a little. Maybe not pretty, but they put a little lipstick on the pig.

I feel so dirty...but Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of all time, so I've been looking forward to Dark Souls 2 ever since it was announced. I just can't stand to wait a month and a half for the PC version, which would undoubtedly by cheaper...at least buying it for 60 gets the automatic upgrade to the "Black Armor Edition," which comes w/the metal box and soundtrack and stuff.
I'm assuming you're going to do the right thing and leave these forums of your own accord? :shame:
