Welcome to the Steam deals thread V12, where we talk about just about everything except what games are on sale.
Please wipe your feet on the way in...

Summer Sale PSA: If you're new to Steam sales, be sure to check out both Enhanced Steam and Spoony's Official Guide to Steam Sales before you ask a question and/or spend more money than you'd care to say.

Before you ask, if a game is already a featured deal (daily/flash/community) that's the lowest it will go this sale. Feel free to buy without the worry it will get a better discount later on.

In case anyone doesn't have enough copies of Gearcrack Arena, the Lazy Guys Blurred Shapes bundle is ending soon.

$2.49 for:

Dark Shadows: Army of Evil (Steam)

Metal Planet (Steam)

Gearcrack Arena (Steam)

Memories of a Vagabond (Desura/Greenlit; Steam soon-ish)

Power Up (Desura/"Almost Greenlit")

Don’t Move (Desura/Greenlight)

IDRQ (Desura/Greenlight)

Yurminsul (Desura/Greenlight)

Koyarift (Desura/Greenlight)

Sickbrick (Desura/Greenlight)

Data Hacker: Corruption (Desura/Greenlight)

Let There Be Life (Desura/Greenlight)

TheTankers (Desura)

I would add links but I'm being, ahem, lazy.

I'm kind of on the fence myself. Lot of repeats/bleh stuff but I kind of want Let There Be Life. However it's pretty cheap regular price and likely to go on a cheap sale and/or be bundled again. meh

Eh... eff it. *buys*

I'm a sucker for Greenlight bundles. I can spare a few bucks for them especially with all the GMG credit I have handy.

I will only play the Single player version, is the Gold version worth it? Already read about the different DLC pieces, foil conversions, etc. But I don't know if all those DLC included in the Gold version are worth if I'll only play Single Player...
I would definitely say it's worth it (for the $5, I'd feel differently if it was full price) if you're enjoying the game. All the extra decks add a lot to the game and you might find you enjoy blue "control" decks more than black "regen" decks or whatever. For the low price, I'd say the extra flexibility will add a lot to the game for you.

Just realized Dead Man's Draw is a Stardock game and on sale for $2.50... Demigod has been in a few bundles so maybe this will wind up in one, too.  Decisions, decisions.

I usually keep a throwaway helm with a slot and put a yellow gem in it when I'm running something that's not at a level where I can just barely handle it, ie I don't necessarily need all pieces to be tip top stats but just running for items/gold etc.

A Flawless Royale Topaz has +41% Magic Find. So running around with one of these in a spare helm increases your Legendary drop rate by +4.1%. If you feel that's worth it, great.

For nobobby in particular :bouncy:

Knowing_is_half_the_battle_by_Olympic_Dames.jpg

It depends. If I am doing T1 or lower and I'm just sort of doing runs for items and money and not really sweating it then sure I'll take the extra 3.5% - 4% (depending on what gem I have handy). But at higher difficulties where every piece and stat counts then I swap it out for a helm with better stats. *shrug*

Thanks for the info Motoki and Ashes. And that last image has to be a GIF of the year finalist, or JPG as the case may be.

Eh... eff it. *buys*

I'm a sucker for Greenlight bundles. I can spare a few bucks for them especially with all the GMG credit I have handy.
I'm the opposite, I'm completely done with early access/hope to be greenlite/indie game stand maybe will end up Steam stuff. You guys should still post it for others, you should post any deal. I just no longer feel as if those alpha/support us and we stab you in the back games are a deal anymore, and with the recent announcement by Steam that they aren't going to police early access anymore (assuming they ever did to begin with) the "quality" of those "games" will surely go down fast.

I don't disagree with you, and yet the hoarder in me gets annoyed when Steam keys are handed out for some game that was in a bundle that other people got and I didn't.  :whistle2:x

Whenever I back one of these bundles I only expect to get two or three games tops - the stuff that I actually want. And I try to buy stuff that's already finished. I don't do early access anymore since the string of dev desertions that we've had these past few months.

I'm not interested -at all- in some of the games in that bundle.

I think that goes for any bundle though, even ones with non-Early Access Steam keys. There's going to be a certain amount of games you don't really care about, some (hopefully) you do and then maybe some you are on the fence about.

Once in blue moon I even find I end up liking some game I didn't think I would so you never know. I think at the low bundle prices there's a low risk. That's why I don't mind so much even with the Greenlight and (not Electronic Arts) EA stuff etc.

For me to buy an Early Access game at or near full price or a Kickstarter though I would have to really have a lot of faith in the developer AND really want the game and be willing to bump it to the top of the pile. That almost never happens.

Since we're on the topic of Early Access...

While there's plenty of Early Access crap to poke with a bushel of sticks...

The Super Toy Cars devs have impressed me with their professionalism... although I beat the game a few months back, I poked into it a little while back and saw how much they've improved it, fixing bugs and improving the graphics.

Carmageddon Reincarnation has also been progressing nicely and professionally.  But I expected that from the SCi guys, and was happy to kickstart them.  I was tracking it pre-Kickstarter.  I loved Carmageddon 1 & 2 back in the day.

You saw that they have a Mac version now too, right?

Believe me I research things before buying outside of a bundle and those guys seemed to have a quality product by all accounts from other users. They've also been very transparent and communicative on the forum, even to the point of arranging multiplayer sessions with themselves so players had someone to play with. The price, I thought, was set reasonable at regular price. One of the few games I FAKECAG'ed (multiple times even!) and I don't regret doing it.

So definitely not all Early Access is bad by any means. I guess the bad eggs just have a way of stinking up the room for everyone else.

I know I've been doing a lot of replies one after another lately, but they're about completely different stuff and the thread is moving somewhat slow so sue me.

Anyhow, the console peasants are going nuts over this, but apparently it applies as well to that rare endangered species, the boxed retail PC game.

For those FAKECAGing it Solid Snake Eyes-style, you can apparently get $15 off any game that retails for $39.99 or higher at Target by paying $1 to reserve a pre-order game. http://weeklyad.target.com/birmingham-al-35226/pages?code=Target-140608&viewType=zoomView#3

Presumably you aren't bound to buy the pre-order game other than the dollar reserve fee being non-refundable. The ad mentions PC versions for a couple of the games like Watch Dogs and Titanfall and I know Target carries a few other PC games here and there. (Don't ask me why the hell Donkey Kong Country is in there)

There's also a $20 Steam wallet card on sale for $18. :p It's not grouchy bald headed dude PSST I gots a deal for ya' in my overcoat cheap but it's something.

Yeah, I got diablo 3: reaper of souls for $26. I think that's the lowest price its been based on a Slickdeals thread when Bestbuy and Amazon had it for 29.99 just a week ago along with the 19.99 diablo 3 I got. Its also the only real PC deal at Target, most PC games are $60 (Wolfenstein) and some (like Skyrim) are $40.

Edit: Keeping it.

Just played my first round of Rust. After a few initial deaths to get my foot in the door I managed to get together some starter supplies together but quickly found my lack of food to be my biggest threat. After trying, and failing, to find food I eventually chased down and managed to convince someone to take my supplies and then bash my head in with a rock in the dark. We embraced and looked at the moon while I patted his bald head and complimented him on his green pants. Then I entered my eternal sleep as a rock entered my skull.

I love you MexicanTaco98.

Played Nekro a few hours... a lot more simplified than I thought.  It's essentially a single player MOBA (although you don't have to defend anything).  Not awful at $4 but I feel sorry for anyone who kickstarted it for $20+

Was Damned in a bundle or just super cheap somewhere? A lot of people on my friends list have it even though it's early access.
Enhanced Steam is telling me the 4-pack was $8 on April 30th this year at GreenMan Gaming. That is a vast difference from the $60 the 4-pack is currently going for on Steam. I'm sure people loaded up while they could.

Blizzard titles or bust on that... I'm not seeing anything that screams deal outside of Diablo and whatnot. (Maybe Wildstar could be a deal at that price.)

I'm not sure if it got mentioned, I know I didn't have time to mention it, but newegg had a 20% coupon and some games on sale this weekend. I snagged the last headhunter for Borderlands 2 (Son of Crawmerax) for real cheap and just grabbed a couple of extras in case anyone missed out on it. (Its not in the complete edition.)

They still have them on sale, is the coupon still available?

Edit: Coupon is expired, Borderlands 2 Headhunter DLC is still $1 each. Thinking about it.

... sonofabitch.

I missed out on the additional 15% off code, though, so pass. The less money Gearbox gets for these DLCs, the better.

I need those Headhunter DLCs but I'm waiting to use my steam funds on it. I got that Moxxi one for free from that Mac store.

I pre-ordered the new game already but I don't think I can play any more Blands for a while. Might have to cancel that or wait for a complete edition.

Quoting myself but TL;DR check your emails going back about a week or so. You may have a 20% Newegg coupon buried in there. Mine expires 11:59 PM PST on 6/8, so it's good for about another hour. :p

If this has already been posted then mea culpa, but Newegg has the Borderlands headhunter pack DLCs for 99 cents. The latest one #5 is included.

*Edit: I was able to get another 20% off of them with a code for digital games I got in an email from Newegg on June 2nd titled "Here’s Your Exclusive Component Coupons – Don’t Let Them Go to Waste!" so if you subscribe to emails from Newegg you can try checking for that. It does say that the codes are specifically tied to the account with the email address they are sending it to and non-transferable so I guess everyone gets their own code. *shrug*
*Edit: This is what the email looked like. It arrived for me on Monday 6/2/14 around noon-ish.

The codes are said to be non-transferable, single use tied to the account it was sent to. I already used mine so most likely it won't work for someone else but I guess you can try it. *shrug*

So Steam decided that I have 1000 games today, even though I haven't even been around and haven't added a game since two days ago (when I added up to 999 and stopped). Account details don't show anything new coming up so... that's pretty anti-climactic.

My 1000th Steam game is... who knows.

If you go to your account details, the first one on the list should be the 1000th :whistle2:k

Its off topic (sorta, it does with the internet in the US, which we all need for steam so it could be argued... but heh) but its probably worth viewing... and its damn funny.  (Even as its, sadly, very true.)

Oh and all the sale suck right now so what else do we got to talk about?

The whole show was great last week. Hopefully the trend continues, as the first one I saw was rather mediocre.

Also apparently this happened.

Totally forgot that this show existed. I was already watching HBOGo to finish up Veep (yeah yeah, I like it, fuck off), so I guess I'll watch this too. :p

re: Net (not so) Neutrality

This has been an ongoing thing for a while now and it has been in the news but like the gaming industry it seems these days it takes a sarcastic British commentator making funny sound bites on Youtube for people to notice something.

Well, Flowette and the rest of our former tyrannical overseers can relax because there's finally a proper(?) cricket game on Steam.

Also it appears that companies are out to cash in on not only old RTS games that I played many years ago (Age of Empires II) but also old RTS games that I've had backlogged for over 10 years (Rise of Nations) by releasing new versions and attempting to get me to double-dip. What's next, Empires of the Modern World HD? Celtic Kings: Rage of War Enhanced? Kohan Redux? Total Annihilation Dubstep Edition?

I like it a lot. It's not necessarily anything Stewart or Colbert don't do already, but there's the whole premium cable/no censors thing and also the British perspective, which is even less filtered than Stewart or Colbert.

M:tG DotP 2014 campaign was making me rage last night.  It was the Roiling Lands bit in Zendicar where the computer just nukes your lands and either direct damages or Earthquakes your creatures.  It also highlighted my criticism of the campaign:

During the campaign matches, the AI plays the same cards in the same order every time.  The rationale is that you'll learn its strategy and come up with a plan to defeat it.  Understandable, but you have a random hand each time so you can get thrown hands that are just plain unwinnable.  I could get a hand with three nice cards but I know the AI will be nuking my lands on Turn Four before I can cast them so, despite normal appearances, my hand is garbage.  So I just wind up restarting matches and cycling cards until I get a hand that can get a toehold.  But that's not how the game is actually played and in any real match you'd both have a chance of getting mana-screwed or all enchantments in your hand or something.  Or at least you're not basing your play around a predetermined sequence.  It just doesn't feel like it's teaching you anything besides how to cheat the system by repeatedly taking mulligans via the Restart feature.  Playing random matches against the Planewalkers is a better teacher on how the game is supposed to go.

Anyway, grumble grumble and all that.  Still like the game, just don't like how they set up the campaign.

Wow the Mumbai Mirror calls it the best cricket game they've ever played. Must be good stuff.
