I have no clue what retarded monkey is pushing the buttons over at GMG but after voting in the Joystick awards and getting jipped out of a code for Enemy Unknown, they have now sent me a THIRD code to get Enemy Within at 80% off.

If anybody wants it, apply it after EW is already in your cart:

IACDB5-LGBSBR-DP0PE2
I've got three of those.. and two of the borderlands TPS season pass 25% off coupons >.>

I find it weird that SteamDB is showing so much activity for Paranautical Activity 4 hours ago.

Is it coming back or is this Gabe Newell just adding insult to injury for the guy who threatened his life?

The pricing of steam cards will always be a mystery. Like why are the anime looking cards worth a lot ?
In my opinion, games with a lot of cards like Awesomenauts or Pixel Piracy, should cost less per card because there's many to collect and vice versa.

But what bothers me the most is that a game like CSGO with 5 cards, goes for 5-6 cents per card. And a game like Bastion, with the same amount of cards, goes for triple.
Anime fans are in general more used to paying a premium to get collectables; Japanese niche sells for higher prices (in or out of Japan) than most westerners are used to paying for similar, more popular domestic products.

It's also a generational thing. I'm guessing Steam trading cards are in general more popular with the 22 and under crowd than they are with people who have been out in the workforce, meaning they don't have as much of an appreciation for the value of money or what it can buy; this generation has also been raised on more blatantly Japanese imports than their predecessors (which localized the everloving fuck out of their Japanese imports), meaning animu is a (relatively) hot commodity for them.

Ultimately, supply and demand isn't so neat and tidy. There are lots of variables all contributing to what price people will choose to buy something for. To take your Bastion vs. CSGO example, the face of it ends up looking somewhat similar to the animu thing—Bastion is beloved by indie hipsters (don't get me wrong, it's a good game). CSGO is mostly played by modern FPS fans and people who were into PC gaming 20 damn years ago. I'd be willing to bet there are a lot more played copies of CSGO out there than there are of Bastion, meaning the card market is more saturated; in addition, indie hipsters love paying too much for crap they don't need and will never be able to use, meaning the Bastion card market probably has higher demand.

There are a lot more cards of CSGO because the stream of them is neverending. No matter if you have completed the badge to level 5 (25 cards) you still generate new cards every time you spend $10 in the store, be it from buying keys or stuff like name tags. It's just like TF2 in this respect. There are people who spend hundreds of dollars in CSGO opening crates and that sort of thing, so theres always going to be lots of cards for it. You get a card drop if you spend that amount no matter what. There are less for a game like Bastion simply because the drops cease at some point, so theres immediately less cards. Bastion also hasnt been bundled in a while now so its not inundated with new users and the card prices rise. Bastion card drops are related to how many users have the game but CSGO cards are more related to how much a user spends on it.

Can someone help me understand why people undercut card prices so much? I see cards with histories at $.40 or $0.50, but once it drops in a bundle people sell for $0.10 or less.
Because I don't want them nor do I want to sit on them, yet I feel compelled to idle them. I sell them for the highest asking price someone has set as a buyer so I'm rid of them immediately.

Has anybody heard/seen anything on Dying Light? I picked it up on a whim because it was only 12 keys but I'm not sure if I should hold onto it. At a glance, it just seems like Dead Island with parkour, but I'm hoping there's more than that.

Because once it drops into a bundle many more people are going to own that particular game. And there are many people who just dont care enough or have the patience to wait to make more $. Its general economics. Once an item becomes widely more available the price drops. I have a buddy who doesnt give a damn about any card and will sell them all for 0.15 regardless of how much they're worth at the time. He plays his games then after he amasses an amount of cards knocks them all up there at that price lol.

I agree with your reasoning for asking as I find how regularly card markets get destroyed by severe undercutters frustrating, but at the same time its not a surprise. On an even other hand, higher card prices should exist for those who adopt a game early and I look at that as a "reward" for adopting before it was bundled.

Have you looked on the Google? Basically thats the only place you're going to find anything as the majority of us plebians havent had the opportunity to play it. There's not going to be a whole lot of info for a game that's still 3 months away. If you're not going to hold on to it, trade it ASAP or activate it ASAP. With the new 4 pack option the trade market could become inundated and region locking could occur sooner.

That literally is what it is. The actual Dead Island 2 (developed by Yager [Spec Ops: The Line]) looks way more fun, go figure.
From what I seen in previews + whatnot - I expect Techland's to be a more true-blue Dead Island sequel. Dying Light is going to have more parkour, day/night cycles, & is going to be way more serious in tone than what Yager is doing w/ what was once Techland's franchise (Dead Island).

It's very interesting to see Yager doing something so different, after the ever-so-serious, story-heavy, and character-driven Spec Ops: The Line. Dead Island 2 looks like it's going to be a blast, if all turns out well.

I hope both games turn out great.

I thought War in the North was pretty awful. A very bland and generic level-based arpg.
WitN is a by-the-numbers ARPG, but it's not a horrible game, particuarly if you're a fan of the genre and/or a fan of LotR. I happen to love both and found it to be completely okay. A game doesn't have to be at the top of its genre to be enjoyable.

Thinking about kickin' it ol' skool with a 1st/3rd person RPG. Think I've got it down to:

  • Gothic 1
  • Risen 1
  • Fable: Lost Chapters
  • Witcher 1
  • Dark Messiah of Might & Magic

Bueller? Bueller? What do I go wit?
Speaking of which... Dark Messiah of Might & Magic!

anyone played  Close Combat?  The new one just came out called Panther in the Fog.  I love strategy game and never play this series before.. is it like Company of Heroes?

I feel the same way about Lego Marvel I thought I would love it with all the comic book characters but I'm just bored to tears. I think I will complete it eventually but will not be picking up any other Lego games until my boy is old enough to play them if he likes them.

I have a rule that I can only play 1 lego game every 6 months. Every time I break that rule, I don't finish the 2nd game and remember why I have that rule.

I found you on stormy winternight
you stayed on my side since

We had your up & downs
but you still stayed

You said you're going away
I didn't believe you

It wasn't until you didn't come at Freddy's,
I realized you weren't lying.

Goodbye my friend

Goodbye IGN Prime

Not sure if an actual poem/song or bad MysterD formatting. ;)

Lego games are all the same. They are good, don't get me wrong; it's that they all have the same style, game play, basic story, etc. And they are all grindfests, with the exception of ones where you can input all the passwords and not have to play the game for achievements. Please remember that Indiana Jones is decent, but the sequel is awful.

Lego City Undercover is a bit different than the others, and arguably the best Lego game, but sadly that's not on PC =(

There's something so satisfying about coming home to see a bunch of anime cards in your steam inventory. I can almost smell the Gaben bucks.

How did I miss that: GOTHIC 1, DUDEBRO.  If you have not played it yet you owe it to yourself!  Save Witcher and Fable for when you are drunk/high.

^ and use the default control scheme or you're a filthy casual.

I never finished the last LEGO game (Harry Potter 1-3) I played but that's because my daughter only wanted to go to the neighborhood sandbox, park a double decker bus on my guy and laugh at me until I ragequit.

If those specs are real, Ubisoft are idiots. And that is coming from somebody with a computer that can handle it.
Yeah, that 2GB VRAM GeForce 680 minimum + Radeon HD 7970 is ridiculous for a minimum.

They're not even called for middle of the road cards on a series (i.e. like a GF 660), but high-end cards for a card's series!

Oh - and the recommended specs on the vid-cards are downright hilarious.

There are rumours. You know like the one that says you and Bobby and ME are a triple AAA (train) team :)

I would wait for official news to not enter in panic. I admit if these are the min, is just insane.

DO NOT buy the Bundlestar b/c of War of the North. It is a piece of crap. Generic, plain and just boring. Try Shadow of mordor instead

Rest of Risen 1 is a really good amalgamation of Gothic 1 and 2. Shame it ended so horribly.

War In The North is incredibly shallow and wholly unfulfilling. Great world, dreary gameplay.

Risen 1 is awful; War in the North is great. That is all.

Right, still rumored.

Not official yet.

But if it's anywhere remotely near that ballpark for the minimums - I think many are going to be in a situation to:

1. Have to upgrade (eventually)

2. Or just want until later when they buy/build a new PC.

3. Or go the other route and just buy the console-versions.

Thank God that I normally don't buy games ASAP at higher-prices.

Likely, I think I'm probably going to eventually fall into option #1.
