Two of my bids are stuck. I don't have any gems, I don't have the games, but it still shows me as the highest bidder so I can't cancel the bids.
I'm in the same boat. Missed out on several last minute bids and all of those gems are lost 1s and 0s right now. Not the best decision to end all of those auctions right when the Winter sale went live.

Holiday card prices halved. Yipee.
Not a surprise really.

They're giving everyone 1 for each vote + you get em for every $10 spent, and I think the biggest thing against them this year is the fact that crafting the badge doesnt get you an item drop like last year which kills the desire for a lot of people to bother with the badge. There's no incentive to do it multiple times.

So the auctions finally ended, no games in my inventory, and I didn't get any of my gems back...

Looks like the better deals were to be had (on some games) via gem auctions.  Half dozen or so things I would have considered picking up but didn't want to run the risk of buying thousands of gems that would halve in value after the auctions ended.

Yeah I bought a couple for 60ish cents at the start of the auction (after the reset).  Had I bought like... 15,000 there's were a couple of good games like Worlds of Magic or Hand of Fate I could have snagged at a 75% off discount but... bleh.  Ended up selling the gems for $1ish a sack.

Well I'm pretty bummed there is no real gimmick this sale. I didn't participate in the auction and was really looking forward to crafting the seasonal badge for some possibility of an uber reward.  I guess I'll have to settle with spending my card money on badly discounted games.

Not sure if serious, but five bucks.

Four bucks and change based on XE.com but Paypal shows me paying $5 after their version of conversion rates.
Serious. I put off buying it because of the VPN/proxy requirement, then Gilby'd it in the end.

But oh well: at $6 gabenbux vs ~$5 almost-real money, cost is pretty much the same (if not slightly better, since I'm rolling in gabenbux after selling my keys) so I'll pick it up here.

Looks like Gems can still be used to create booster packs.  I see my remaining 200 gems there.   Not that it is enough to do anything with.

I know it's said every sale, but damn... This sale really is every kind of disappointing. Valve neutered everything fun about the last few sales, and without the help of our Russian brothers, these 50% off discounts really aren't gonna fly anymore. I can't believe my wasting all my funds during the auction actually paid off.

Here's to Winter glitches!

Salut!

Uggh, was tempted on that rocksmith funstock deal until I realized they made you buy a magical dongle that is really just a drm/money solution. Plenty of people already have real audio interfaces with instrument/guitar input but they wont let you use them.  Also seems their dongle has ridiculous latency since they are just using the normal windows sound drivers instead of using ASIO like a real interface and audio app would

Weird.  16 games on my wishlist and every single one of them has a discount right now.

I might bite on Reveneange finally.

I wonder if Steam will have a sale on Inquisition during this shindig.

I might get Euro Truck Sim 2 - Going East for $1.94 (85% off) since I bought the Simulator Humble Bundle that included just the base game.  I think the rest of the DLC is cosmetic so I don't care about full bundle pricing.

Real World Racing Miami DLC is 29 cents (81% off) and that is the only one I don't have and it is making me feel incomplete.

I'm not sure how it's possible but I still don't own 99 Levels to Hell.  There's a hidden message in that 99 cents (80% off) purchase price and the soundtrack is 9 cents.

The How To Survive stuff which I keep passing up is all 80% off.

The two Puzzler games are 49 cents each (90% off).

Hmmmm.  Looking at the sales list so far I can see that I will be filling out some collections with missing DLC.

My bid failure gems just showed up in my inventory, only an hour later than I'd have liked. So you might want to check and sell them ASAP.

Booster pack creating seems pointless and I'm tired so I sold them all. Lost $0.21 per sack, oh shucks. I thought the auction was awesome to be honest. I picked up 8 wishlist games and 6 others that looked interesting. [customspoiler="Auction Winnings"]

10 Second Ninja
Back to Bed
Concursion
Cubic
Dead Man's Draw
Light
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
Munin
Qbeh-1

Shadow Blade: Reload
Tango Fiesta

I'm not sure I'll even buy that much during this sale. There's not very many reasons for multiple daily visits with only one community vote and "New Deals" every 12 hours. Meaning less chances for glitches and mockery. Damn.

That's the problem. We are focusing on them and there aren't really any!
I think that was Steam's plan all along. Have people liquidate their inventories through gems (either selling them or spending them on winning auctions). People who sold their gems have extra Gaben bucks, and Valve counts on those people spending their funds on less enticing deals since those people aren't spending "real money".

House Valve always wins. They're basically a casino.

old game, probably not supported at all, dev may be dead
Replay Studios was an independent video game developer that created games for the seventh generation of gameconsoles and PC, targeted for the international market. Located in Hamburg, Germany, it was founded in 2002 by Marc Moehring and Sascha Jungnickel. Rumours circulating since 3 August 2009 have suggested that the company would be closing down after having filed for insolvency. [1

On 25 August 2009, Atari announced in an email to a Crashday Hardcore Dedicate that Replay Studios have filed for insolvency. This resulted in the shutting down of their game servers.

By December 2009, a small group of dedicated players obtained the software, hardware and domain to create a New Master Server. This Server is now in full function, allowing Crashday to be played online once again.

Of the two games I had highest bid for at the end, one of them finally showed up in my inventory. The other is nowhere to be seen and neither are my remaining gems.

Look on the bright side, everyone. Amazon will probably match or beat most of Steam's deals. Then there will be the January deals and $5 coupons. :)

Oh...wait.

fuck

Whoops, yeah sorry about that. I had the cord from back when I bought the PS3 version of 2013.

What IS going to happen on Amazon's end, anyway?

And here I was hoping Steam would give me a reason to procrastinate at work.

I've done nothing but crafted badges for the past hour instead of perusing the sales.

Sadly there is no points contest like the one during the Summer.
