double check your southpaw steels

some of the best buy steelbooks have a defect on the front cover. It has been covered on the bluray forums.

The printing line just below the title southpaw

My copy from Target actually has two lines in it, one that touches up against Jake's bottom lip and the other that goes through his nostril. Time for a trip to the store I guess.

Called target.com and there the worst it was a  Indian lady I didn't know target.com was in India

Looks like Target.com is back to their old tricks of sending the standard version when a steelbook is ordered.  You would think they would have learned by now that they are two different products.

And there CS is the worst it's like that automated system but with a real live person from India

Anyone else besides Target.com would learn that yes, though they're still running around like they still have Amazon doing their online service and it's someone else's fault.

I think target is the only place that does this

Returned the unexpected Amaray copy of Southpaw back to Target.  CS reps were looking at me like I was insane for explaining the reason for the return.   Store still didn't have any, so I chalked it up to more Target incompetence.

Tried to replace my BB steelbook copy with one that didn't have any lines and the ones at the store were worse than the one that I have.  I think I might just keep what I have and not try to find another one, since that might be an exercise in futility.

I found a copy that may not have any lines in it at all, after having gone through all of them (6 or so) that my closest store had to offer.

I also had a hard time I called before I went to the store and had them hold a steelbook copy so I went to pick up the steelbook I had on hold that called so I take it to the CS desk and she rings out and I do a return so I'm all set to leave and she started to open the case and do u know it's still the regular ver not the steelbook so I had to go back to the movies and pick up the steelbook ver and do the check out again my target had alot of this ones

Punctuation (at minimum) is your friend

Whenever I see a post of yours that's been edited I just imagine the absolute drivel that came before it

Back on topic - I guess I'm one of the rare steelbook collectors that doesn't collect everything. I just pick up movies I've seen, liked or wanted to see.
At this point I'm actually trying to get ones that I've missed, mainly Disney, Pixar, US/Best Buy releases. If anyone has any extra of those or looking to sell or trade them, let me know

I'm the same way. I let my personal taste factor in what I'm going to buy. That's why I didn't rush out to buy 50 Shades or Southpaw. If you buy everything under the sun, it's hardly a collection. You're basically a hoarder.

oh man I remember seeing all those Pixar steelbooks on the shelves at Best Buy a couple Christmas' ago. Never saw them again..

So, a decent amount of US steelbooks releasing this week.  I'm looking forward to Black Sails Season 2 at Target (and hoping for an additional Cartwheel discount).  There are also those 4 BBE new Pop Art steelbooks for Zombieland, The Equalizer, Lawrence of Arabia and The Bridge Over the River Kwai.  Also, there is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, which may or may not be Best Buy exclusive (I heard conflicting reports).  Finally, the Game of Thrones 1st and 2nd season steelbooks get released among various retailers.

Did I miss anything for this upcoming week?

Yeah I remember seeing them in the ads when they came out but back then I wasn't into collecting steel like I am now. Hopefully they do another promotion/release one day. There is a rumor that Snow White is being re-released in February, so hopefully there is some kind of collectors edition for it.

Random thought: Does anyone think Disney dropped the ball on not releasing an steelbook for Inside Out US version?
Disney really doesn't do a lot of steels. The ones we are referring to are from back in 2010 I believe. Steels seem to be Marvel's thing, which I am at least happy for. As far as Inside Out, the only exclusive we have in the US is the Best Buy collectors cards which I don't really care about. I would've at least liked a lenticular slipcover or something.

Christmas Vacation is a timed exclusive. Best Buy will have it tomorrow, everywhere else Dec 1

There is a Best Buy-specific version of the 2D Inside Out:

Looks like a lenticular cover.

So let's say I have the G2 size Steelbook for Borderlands 2 from the original B2 Loot Chest Edition; what might that be worth?

I see one on EBay for $35 but is that high or low?

There's a cartweel app coupon for this steelbook
Said coupon (10% off) for the Black Sails steelbook says the following:

"Black Sails - SSN 1 & 2 Steelbooks"

So, it looks like there's a S1 steelbook coming out with the S2 steelbook. Picture shows both seasons' artwork and shows them both looking like steelbooks.

Coupon also expires on 11/14/15. There is also a separate coupon for the Amaray version, so make sure you clip the right one when adding it to Cartwheel.

I saw the Black Sails Steelbook in the Toy Ad released this week in the newspaper.
Same here, though I saw the same item in last week's newspaper ad for Southpaw and my local store was useless in finding any, if they even had them in any fashion.

Once again, I'll be at Target early Tuesday morning and see if this time around, they have their heads out of their asses at my local store and actually have both steelbooks for Black Sails.

I'm a bit surprised Target is releasing a steelbook of Black Sails Season 1 after the fact considering they have had at least 3 chances to do the same with The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 and haven't bothered.  Since I already have the Target exclusive version of season 1 (with the bandana and lenticular slip) I will hold off on the steelbook unless it is significantly less money (under $20).

Do people still need Southpaw? I was at a Target yesterday that had 5 or so. No line through the 4 I checked, but two of them had loose discs.

How many different "special Target exclusive character lenticular covers" are there for Pixels?  I saw Pac-man, Space Invaders, and Donkey Kong...just those three?  I have no interest in the movie whatsoever, but I do like the covers.

Also, for Inside Out, isn't there some sort of Target exclusive version?  Or just some bonus material?

Maybe by the time we have S6 of TWD, we get S1 and S2 of TWD on steelbook, if Black Sails S1 and S2 steelbook sales do well enough?

Inside Out:

Target = bonus material

Best Buy = lenticular cover (2D only) + 5 character cards (regular 2D, lenticular 2D, regular 3D)

Pixels has three different lenitcular covers, the ones you mentioned above.

The Expendables 1-3 Metalpaks at best buy this week also

Picked up the two Black Sails steelbooks this morning.  My Target had 2 of the S1 and 3 of the S2 before I picked up mine, so it may be low stock on it.   I think the DPCI # for each one are 058-39-0588 (S2) and 058-39-0596 (S1).   Oddly enough, there was a "Saved $5 off $29.99" showing on my receipt, so I don't know if there was a "Buy both, save $5" on the purchase, though I didn't check the shelf hanger to be sure.  Has to be, since those two SBs were the only ones that were $29.99 on my receipt.  One was $22.49 and the other one was $26.99 from the Cartwheel coupon.

Fyndly is showing most stores in my area having 0-2 SBs for S1 (my store is one that now has 0) and 1-5 for S2 (my store shows 2).   So, I suggest not waiting on this one.

I also picked up the two Game Of Thrones SBs since there was a deal that you had $10 off the purchase if you bought both of them at the same time.  GOT S1 DPCI # is 058-39-0581 and S2 is 058-39-0582.  Fyndly is showing stores in my area having 0-3 copies of S1 (my store now has 0) and 0-3 copies of S2 (my store now has 0).

So, if you're thinking about getting them, $34.99 each seems like about as good as it's going to get for the GOT SBs.

The stores that have S1 here have 2 copies max, judging by an employee PDA. I found 2 copies of S2, but one was spider wrapped and the other was slightly bent (it makes a cracking noise). Bought the bent one, but will probably return it since I can't find S1 anyways.

The DPCI for S1 is correct. I used that one to ask the employees, cause it doesn't come up on search.

Yeah, took me two Target trips to get both Black Sails seasons.  First store had one S2 zero S1, second store had two S1s and eight S2.  The one BB I went to didn't have any of the GoT steelbooks out.

Went to 2 Targets this morning and both had 2 of each of the Black Sails Season 1 and 2 steelbooks.  Unless there is a restock this will be really limited.

Just giving everyone a heads up that I saw the Christmas Vacation steelbook at Best Buy, along with steelbooks for Scrooged, Elf, and A Christmas Story.  All were priced $14.99.  If they will just go down in price a few more dollars I will likely pick all of them up.

Not sure how you got the $10 off GoT S1 and S2 steelbooks at target, as the tags and ad indicate it's $10 off if you buy either of them with a bobble head, not each other. They rang up $39.99 each for me on the same receipt, no $10 off. Might just buy them with the $8.99 bobbleheads then turn around and return the bobbleheads, since bundle deals at target have always been prorated (hopefully that hadn't changed)

I didn't so self-check, so I didn't see what the transaction was until I had my receipt in-hand. This is what's listed on the receipt:

058390581 BLU-RAY $39.99

058390582 BLU-RAY $39.99

058390588 BLU-RAY $26.99

Saved $10 off $39.99

Cartwheel 10% off $29.99

058390596 BLU-RAY $22.49

Saved $5 off $29.99

Cartwheel 10% off $24.99

So, from that, I guess Black Sails S2 is "$10 off" a $39.99 price, down to $29.99, which is why it's on the Black Sails line and not the GOT lines on the receipt. I would guess that if you bought them with a bobble head, they would be a $8.99 off the bobble head and $1.01 off the GOT price, so you can't get the $10 off the steelbook and return the bobble head.

Sorry, my bad. :wall:

No worries, just thought I had missed out. I just purchased a bundle of GoT S1 and S2 steelbooks along with two of the GoT $8.99 Funko Pop bobbleheads or whatever they are. They were $8.99 but receipt says free along with a very interesting prorating on the bundles. Since the purchase value is $39.99 on the SBs and $8.99 on the bobbleheads, each bundle indicates $32.xx return value on the SBs and $7.xx on the bobbleheads, so definitely worth buying the bundle and returning the bobbleheads (unless someone actually wants these super deformed things). $32.xx each plus tax less redcard is a bit more palatable for what amounts for many a double if not triple/quadruple dip. There is also some toy discount coupon in the toy catalog that was in Sunday's paper (they are also piled up in target stores but the ones in store don't have coupon upcs you have to text codes to receive the coupon)...not sure what that coupon would do to the bundle but might try later.

EDIT: Just tried the 25% off toy coupon in conjunction with the GoT S1 and S2 combo purchase with 2 Funko Pop GoT figs..."no items found in transaction" that worked with the coupon, because the Funko Pop figs ring up at $0.00 once the corresponding GoT steelbook(s) are found (didn't see that in my original combo purchase because the guy rang up the Funko Pop figs first in that one, where it showed them at $8.99).  Not surprising, just wanted to see what would happen.

Guess I may go back and repurchase the SBs and bobble heads, then see about returning the bobble heads at another day. $32.xx - 5% discount is certainly about as good as they're going to get for a while.

Was tempted to blind buy Black Sails SBs (even the regular blu editions with the lenticular "faux-lographic" covers look very cool), but it would be a blind buy on the series.  Quick synopsis/review indicates it's a prequel to Treasure Island, but also that it's produced by Michael Bay.

EDIT: BTW there is a promo on Target.com for Starz shows...odd that it would substitute a straight $10 discount instead of the $10 giftcard when purchased in store...but might be a possible pricematch opportunity for an additional $10 giftcard(?):

Target Anchor Bay, & Sony Pictures Home E Free Gift Card Promotion

There also appears to be another promo for Terminator Genesys (including the Target exclusive steelbook) and some other upcoming releases (Maze Runner series, Minions, and Hotel Transylvania 2 including various Target exclusive versions and variants), though I assume this is an online only preorder promo as it expires in 6 days (November 9th - the day before the official drop date for these titles):

A lot of people are canceling the Inside Out 3D Steelbooks from Zavvi, because it doesn't have the title anywhere on the Steelbook. So if you're still interested, they'll definitely come back in stock.

Interesting. That Minions one has a better spine than the normal Metalpaks. Looks like that modified Viva Metal Box that came out for Spaceballs and Mad Max over the summer at BB.
