Superstar Billy Graham's wrestling topic
Anyhow, I'm curious about some people's favorite matches. I know it's tough to pick one but please try.
Guerraro Vs Angle at WM20 -- yeah, it wasn't the greatest match ever, but I loved Eddie as WWE champ and liked the story heading into the match (even if it couldve been done better). It also featured easily my fav finish ever.

RIP Eddie.

I was surprised that iMPACT! was good, booking-wise.

The wrestling was on par, as usual.

I'm thinking CM Punk will be in the MITB match at 'Mania. Don't see him winning, but I think that's where they let him shine.
First of all, you're doing a nice job of helping me tighten up my posts lately. ;)

Yes, some of the actual wrestling was good. The Young Bucks vs. Cobra II and Black Tiger IV was well-paced and had a few nice high-flying spots.
There's actually a press release for this show floating around on a few SoCal wrestling boards (namely, http://www.socaluncensored.com). ColoursTV is owned by Dish Network (random as that may be), but there's also a webcast at the NWA's site.

I'm not sure where to post this... so higher ups, feel free to move this where it should be.

But I thought you might all be interested in checking out the NWA Wrestling Showcase that aired on Dish Network's CoLours TV. Its available on the NWA Wrestling website. The 1st Episode aired last night. And some of the matches featured are; TJ Perkins vs. Zero One's Jr. Heavyweight Champion Ikuto Hidaka. The second match was the Flag Match; Real American Heroes (Joey Ryan and Karl Anderson) vs. Los Luchas. Ricky Vega vs. Cassidy O'Brien was the 3rd match. And the final is El Hijo Del Santo & Rey Mysterio, Sr. vs. Blue Demon, Jr. & Nicho el Millonario.

Next week available around 10:00pm PST next Wednesday will be:
Young Bucks vs. Cobra II & Black Tiger IV
"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Sean Denny
Adam Pearce (c) vs. Sean "X-Pac" Waltman for the NWA Heritage Title

Just thought some of you would like to check this out.
Some of you may remember TJ Perkins as TNA and AAA's Puma, and Joey Ryan as perennial WWE jobber (he of the "Arizona's Greatest Athlete" with Morrison), and Los Luchas as jobbers from an old ECW episode. Go SoCal!

RUMBLE PREDICTIONS

Rumble Itself: Final Four, Batista, Taker, Punk, and Triple H with Taker winning.

Y2J v. JBL - JBL

Mysterio v. Edge - Edge

Hardy v. Orton - I hate to say this but Orton, I'd like to see Hardy with the strap even if he dropped it to Trips at WM just kinda a culmination from his build up to complete SuperStardom and then how they all end, being butchered by Triple H.

Flair v. MVP - Flair clean win
Having won the Royal Rumble, ending UT's streak, and unifying the titles, HHH says no one can stop him. Cena's music hits. You know where this is going.
I can see that happening..especially since Cena said he'd no show Wrestlemania this year

Would be crazy if you called it straight out though WWE likes to throw alotta nonsense out there

I can't believe HHH will go over Orton. Orton/HHH will be the first title match and Orton will win, giving him the main rub he's needed from Hunter. The crowd will be unhappy and then the Undertaker/Edge main event will go on and when Taker wins, everyone will be happy.

phew. didn't read it.

I know that ROH is running in Dayton ($10 tix FTW!) tonight, but forgot TNA is running a show in Troy, OH tonight as well. Leave it up to my Ohio-incapable mind (I live in Kentucky, you know - not Ohio - so I think I'm intentionally Ohio-defiicient) to not realize that Troy is only 20-25 miles from Dayton. Wow. I'm very curious to see what kind of impact one crowd will have on another. Is this the first time they've competed so directly against each other?

If nothing else, it has to be viewed as an aggressive move by TNA, since they've never been in OH before this weekend, and ROH has been running in Dayton since 2003. Wow. 2003. Back when their merch table was all VHS.

ummm

remember last year i thought they would do that.. but instead they ended the night with cena winning and put the taker match earlier in the card
wtf.. did you move? i thought you were always in ohio
Nope. Always lived in Kentucky. I currently live about 1/2 mile from Great American Ballpark (where the Reds play) and Paul Brown stadium (where the Bengals fuck everything up year after year), so I'm far closer to downtown Cincinnati than most people who live in Ohio.

They won't make that mistake again this year.

TNA is doing the same thing in Long Island later next month. They're basically going head to head against RoH since they have television time and from what I understand, have been advertising decently.

It's pretty much the reason Dayton is looking to get a pretty good show and I expect all the wrestlers to work extra hard.

A good show? This is the second worst card I've seen for an ROH show - but I'm also out of the loop. "Ruckus" and "Jigsaw" mean nothing to me, for instance.

I think those fans drawn to names will go see TNA. Booker, Angle, Joe, Christian, etc. Die-hards (smarks) and cheapos (me) will go to ROH. And I already bought my ticket anyway.

speaking of tna in ohio, a friend called me just a little bit ago and said the youngstown show is tomorrow

he told me cheap seats run $15 and go up to $50...don't know if its worth an hour long drive though

Oh, we're doing Royal Rumble predictions now are we?

Well...

Trips wins the rumble, and I can live with that so long as it's not fucking Hornswoggle winning.

Edge over Mysterio, maybe Chavo gets involved? Seems like you can't have an Edge match without some interference.

Orton cheats to beat Jeff. Maybe Jeff via DQ, but I just can't see Jeff Hardy as WWE champion going into this year's WM.

Flair wins of course.

Leading up to the No Way Out Elimination Chamber match, that sees Taker win to go on to face Edge.

MITB... oh let's say Jeff Hardy, Kennedy, Mysterio, CM Punk, MVP, Matt Hardy if he's healthy, and just because there's no where else to put him... Batista? Either that or Batista faces Big Daddy V in this year's WM main event.

I hope I'm wrong on everything though!

The Nigel/Hero feud has been really good in my opinion and I think it's worth catching up on.

Ruckus and Jigsaw are like the super-flippy team vs. The Briscoes so that ought to see a lot of high flying craziness there. The last time they were in Dayton, Evans pinned one of the Briscoes and this was going to be a rematch. However Evans injured himself in Japan and so they replaced him with Jigsaw (who is part of the same faction - The Vulture Squad).

Then there is the slow burn Aries heel turn going on. Where Aries was first the leader of the Resistance, Stevens is the one now winning belts and Aries is on a losing streak since his defeat to Nigel in NYC.

i enjoyed tna last night.. the tomko stuff was gold.. theyve been doing a good job with him lately..

also i ended up selling my tumble ticket on ebay for 250 (before fees). had to cancel my trip

haha, in my swerviest prediction ever...

Hornswoggle wins the Royal Rumble with the help of Finlay. It comes down to Umaga, Khali, and Mark Henry, Finlay and Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle and Finlay eliminate the big men and then tricks Finlay into getting out of the ring somehow.

Orton retains due to interference by Matt Hardy, leading to a Jeff vs. Matt feud.

Rey over Edge due to interference by CM Punk, but the title goes back to Edge next friday in a rematch.

Flair wins. Duh.

JBL over Jericho because HHH won't let him fued with anyone important.

It's beyond passe to gripe about Triple H's "pull" in the WWE, but between RVD's claims that Triple H said RVD doesn't "connect with the crowd" enough to be champ, and Y2J's decline into irrelevance since his return after -what, 3 or 4 years?-, I think the paranoid writing is on the wall.

Moreover, Rey Mysterio couldn't even beat one tag team single-handedly on SD!, while Triple H can beat the entire Raw tag division by himself with nary a scratch. I'm kidding about that...except I'm not.

Good news: Apparently I signed up for a giveaway on the ROH website and won tickets to a local show.

Bad news: The tickets arrived today, and are for tonight's show in Dayton... on the opposite side of the state (not so much on the local). A shame they didn't arrive sooner as I'd have at least been able to send them to someone who might be able to use em. As it is I've got plans and honestly wouldn't consider a 3+ hour drive the day of anyways.

You win some, you lose some I suppose.

Contact the ROH people and see if they'd be willing to trade those seats for seats at the next show.
No, no, a thousand times, no. Matt needs to stay face and win the US title from MVP at Mania or else the whole angle was for nothing.
I said swerviest. Do you really think I actually believe that Hornswoggle will win the rumble? The only one I was serious about was the Flair one, because we all know he can't loose this match yet.

I just watched ECW in HD... seeing Colin Delaney's expression when Khali entered the ring in HD has to be one of my favorite WWE moment of the past 2 years.

That was a start-to-finish great SmackDown. Rey vs. the Edgeheads was the first time the ex-Majors have done anything that impressed me in the least, Rey ruled in it, and his new HD entrance videos are awesome (especially the mask/619 on the big pole). Yang-Greaser was effective, showcased Yang very well, while the Palumbo angle got over HUGE and might just be the thing that makes him a major singles star.

MVP-Flair's build continued well, but the "Photoshop opponent's picture" method of storyline progression is old hat. Luckily, Flair no-sold that, and cut an excellent promo, as did MVP. Finlay-Khali was very good, and incredibly intense when Finlay just unloaded fists and stick shots onto him. The non-finish irks me a bit, but it does help keep Khali from looking too weak going into both Rumble and possibly a match against Hogan at 'Mania.

Taker-BDV was pretty decent, and I was surprised by the ending, which was good, kept BDV strong, and got over a new finisher (modified gogoplata), while solidifying the alliance between Mark Henry and BDV.

The main event was very good, but like TNA, was hurt by commercials interrupting the pace. Fortunately, it was a good match otherwise, had some big surprises (like Punk teasing a GTS off the top), and I like how both the wrestlers in the ring and Rey played off Punk slipping on the ropes, as it added another layer to what was going on in the ring.

Quotes -
Jesse - This is my partner Festus, and this is my partner Festus - you’ve all been wondering why we haven’t been on SmackDown recently, but he has a problem, so we decided to go to the doctor’s because he needs some professional help, and I hope he gets it. Because this, and this, is the face of my best friend!
Cole - Deuce has his hands full with SmackDown’s resident redneck.
Cole - You see that dance Yang does? It’s called the whino. He learned it from his partner, a breakdancer. Remember break dancing?
Coach - Yes.
Cole - Domino has one speed - FULL THROTTLE!
Cole - Domino going up top… WHAT’S HE DOING!?
Cole - There’s Cherry, Domino’s girlfriend, Deuce’s sister… girlfriend.
Coach - Boy, that’d be weird.
Cole - WHAT’S CHERRY DOING!?
Coach - She’s on the apron…
Cole - I get that, Coach…
Coach - John Morrison is the ultimate in cool!
(Palumbo pushes Noble into Michelle, who falls to the floor)Noble - GET A MEDIC, GET HIM OUT HERE NOW! NOW! MICHELLE, YOU ALL RIGHT!? (Palumbo demolishes Noble)
Crowd (to Palumbo) - YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!
Michelle - GET OFF HIM! (Palumbo elbows her in the head)
Crowd - BOOOOO! BOOOO! BOOOO! (Palumbo goes back to beating up Noble)
Announcers - silence
(later)Coach - The push was clearly an accident, but I hope the elbow was as well.
MVP - Last week, I invited my opponent at the Royal Rumble, Ric Flair, to the VIP Lounge, and he hit me with a cheap shot. I know why he did that though, because he couldn’t face the fact at the Royal Rumble, it’s all over. Let’s fast forward to the future - I’ll be world champion, while you’ll be champion of… shuffleboard. I’ll be inducted to the hall of fame, while you’ll be in a nursing home!
Flair - Like I said last week, that’s pretty cool. As a matter of fact, you’re actually very entertaining. And the reality is that I couldn’t think of a more grandiose stage than Madison Square Garden to retire. The problem is that this shuffle board playing nursing home patient is not ready to go home. I will beat you, I repeat, I WILL BEAT YOU AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE! WOOO!
Coach - If Finlay is taken out tonight, there will be no one to watch out for Hornswoggle at the Royal Rumble. Perhaps that’s part of his deal with Mr. McMahon.
Cole - Finlay, THE GREAT PROTECTOR, HAS DONE IT AGAIN!
Vince - You can’t trust anyone, not even Finlay. Your last name isn’t Finlay, it’s McMahon - don’t ever forget that!
Batista - YEAH! Can you tell I’m a little fired up!? WWE’s going HD and we’re two days away from the Rumble! You bet your ass I’m fired up! I want to wish Rey Mysterio good luck in his match against Edge - he’s one of my best friends, and deserves to be world heavyweight champion. Make no mistake about it, I live, breathe, and sleep to be world heavyweight champion! It’s my identity! I’m putting every competitor in the Rumble on notice - I won my first world title by way of the 2005 Rumble - 2008, history’s gonna repeat itself when I do it again!
Cole - The last 7 winners have gone onto win the title at ‘Mania, can Batista make it 8!?
Noble - Michelle! Is she all right?! I’M SORRY I LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! I’M SORRY! I’m gonna get Palumbo for this!
Cole - Only two superstars have won two Royal Rumble matches - Hogan, Austin, and Michaels - can the Undertaker make it four?
Coach - Big Daddy V doesn’t care about the awe-inspiring entrance - he only cares about now…and Sunday.
Cole- Undertaker is the WWE version of Darwin’s theory of evolution!
Cole - He smothers you - I don’t mean that in a funny way - BIG DADDY V SMOTHERS YOU!
Coach - You’re watching the most complete fighter of yesterday, today, or tomorrow!
Coach - Undertaker, 10 years ago, might’ve rolled through a guy like Big Daddy V, but he’s had to learn how to evolutionize his offense!
Coach - Jeff Hardy’s career is at its climax, and it might climax at the Royal Rumble.
Rey - CM Punk delivers kicks like no one else here!
Cole - If Punk can pin Edge tonight, Edge will have NO MOMENTUM GOING INTO HIS TITLE MATCH ON SUNDAY!
Rey - I’ve been in Punk’s position - I’ve slipped off the rope many times - sometimes it’s fatigue, wear down, or my knee brace…

I went to see an NWS show in South River, NJ tonight. It's probably still going on. It was my first live show, and I'm upset that that one in particular was my first. I wasn't expecting a five star show, but I guess I still expected way too much because I walked out halfway through the show.

It started off with a load of bull when I got there an hour and a half early, got the best seats I could with general admission (second row at the 45 yard line!), and then got asked by the asshole ring announcer to move because they messed up the reserved seating and needed more of it. He got an earful, and I kept my seats. Then the show started late, but that's to be expected, I guess.

I didn't even know it was J-Cup tag team tournament night. I was excited when I found that out because it was going to be a tournament tag team series, and that should bring out fierce kayfabe competition. Instead, most of the wrestlers spent way too much time trying to get themselves over, get heat, and bitch on the microphone.

I liked the first match a lot because there was actually some decent wrestling. I'm not even going to pretend I know who these guys were, but I liked them. I especially liked this scrawny crazy guy. He was entertaining. The match wasn't deep in ring psychology, but it was a rather fast-paced back and forth display that was fun to watch. There was even a little bit of mat wrestling which impressed me.

The second match had these guys called the Gemini Trojan (I think) and a couple of wigger guys. The wiggers even came out to that "play that funky music white boy" music. As if that wasn't embarrassing enough, the Chip and Dale left me wondering who was the powertop. There was a bit less wrestling in this match, but it was all right.

The third match was boring. One team literally spent four minutes taking advantage of the ring-out 10 count by poking in and out of the ring. They spent so much time trying to catch heat, and it was a mess of a match.

The fourth match had Blue Meanie and The Patriot taking on... some guys. They were touting The Patriot as a WWE superstar, but I've never seen him. There was this other Patriot in the mid 90s if I'm not mistaken, but that was somebody else. Anyway, for those of you who haven't seen him, here's a brief description. You know that guy in Virtua Fighter 5 who looks like Rey Mysterio? The Patriot is like a taller and more muscular version of that guy who does less lucha stuff and has an American gimmick. The Blue Meanie... didn't do much in that match. I wasn't expecting genius wrestling from Meanie, but I guess I should've expected him to goof around a lot. He was a disappointment. The other guys were managed by this goofball whose real name escapes me but his derogatory nickname was Pineapple Head. I wanted to shove a pineapple up his ass. All he did was try to catch heat. That's it.

After the fourth match, a big brawl started, ad nauseum. Then Rikishi came out to help Meanie and Patriot and break the brawl up. Then there was an intermission. It was at this point that I had enough and got up and left. (The show's probably still going on right now as I type this.) Why? Well, I already explained how there wasn't enough wrestling, but holy crap, there wasn't enough damn wrestling! 3/4 of the wrestling alone made the entirety of TNA look like an Oscar-winning production. I go to a wrestling show for wrestling, and all I get is heat and cheap attempts at getting over. I couldn't even start a "you can't wrestle!" chant because there wasn't enough wrestling to justify it! And the thing that irked me the most was that the crowd ate it all up! A total of 45 minutes must've been spent on guys standing on the second turnbuckle facing the crowd either trying to get cheers or boos. It was stupid! Everybody was stupid! I only felt like a part of the crowd during the first match. I felt like I was a straight guy who walked into a gay bar for the rest of it (no offense to gay people). It was an embarrassing display of wrestling. The best part of the show was this 8 year old kid who was sitting behind me. He was like my own personal JBL. He was awesome. WWE should give him a job when JR retires.

Then I went home and watched the last half hour of Smackdown.

I should've gone to that ROH show in Edison a few weeks ago instead.
That sounds like the same Patriot that was in the WWE back in 1996ish.
Ths needs to happen but I doubt it will, as I have a feeling they'll want Matt and MVP in the Money in the Bank match. Jeff too, so I'm betting no IC/US title defenses unless the belts change hands before.

So I just caught part of Smackdown and man since when has Taker been so damn fit. He looked to be in the greatest shape ever. He also looked to have gone overboard with the tanning bed as he was insanely red all over. And his MMA love is showing since apparently he uses a triangle choke as a finisher now.

That was a very, very good match, w/ Black reversing the Cattle Mutilation not once, but twice. I was very impressed. Lots and lots of very convincing false finishes. I'd be amazed if neither dude had cauliflower ear after that match.

The Whitmer/Albright vs. Delirious/El Generico match was an excellent, excellent brawl. My favorite match on the card.

Matthews and Jacobs versus Strong and Romero was pretty good. I look forward to Matthews' character development if he sticks with ROH and AOTF. His very personal, very believable promo certainly seems to suggest he's not just a one shot.

The main event wasn't so hot (cage match b/w Nigel and Chris Hero). Boring, repetitive, and worst of all, the comedy match of the night (in an ROH title cage match...geez). Bobby Dempsey screwed up and led to the finish. Nigel's about 15-20 pounds skinnier than I saw him last time. Probably off the gas is my best guess. People don't lose that kind of weight just by rehabbing a nagging injury.

Ruckus wasn't there, as far as I could tell, as Matt Cross tagged w/ Jigsaw against the Briscoes. A good, hot opener, and everyone loves the Briscoes.

The three way w/ Aries taking on Davey Richards and Arick Stevens (it is spelled "Arick," right?) was okay. Some "tower of doom" spots, which I always find a bit too unbelievable to enjoy, as well as a double TKO performed by Stevens on Aries and Richards. Impressive, but silly. Richards was the whipping boy in that match. Ow.

A damned good show for $10. I'll be back in late June to see them again. The crowd was maybe 10% smaller than usual, no doubt as a result of folks wanting to see TNA. Not to say that they had a big crowd (I've no idea), but a tiny portion of folks seemed to choose them over ROH.

G'night. I'm tired. I hope ROH YouTubes part or all of Matthews promo, as it really sets the stage for a very intriguing character looking forward.

Speaking of Bobby Lashley, fans and visitors of his official website did not entirely believe that it was really him posting on his website that he was leaving WWE. After hearing this, Lashley then offered to personally call these fans and actually did so.

Oh I wish I posted on his message board, a call from Bobbly Lashley would be hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

I doubt it, I don't think Bobby Lashley is capable of being angry. In fact I'm now about 75% sure that he was really just a robot all along. Something went wrong with the wiring, and now they're coming up with this bogus he's leaving for personal reasons crap.
