What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

After visiting many stores my consensus is that there are aloooot of Bioshock 2 and God of War 3's laying around.

My haul is:
3xGod of War III
2xKane and Lynch(PS3)
2xKane and Lynch(360)
2xUFC 2010(360)
1xSingularity
3xRatchet and Clank: A Crack in time
1xMass Effect 2(360)

I want to get rid of one of the god of war iii and exchange it for singularity but singularity is sooo hard to find.

Wow you should be happy .. ha ha the few stores left around here have been picked clean since the beginning..

did one last look and bit on:

dead to rights (360)
tatsunoko vs capcom

been playing dead to rights and i'm having a good time. well worth it i think. there were tons of god of war III left.

Dead to Rights was a lot of fun for me. Easily one of the best games of this sale.

I was tempted to try Dead to Rights since I enjoyed the PS2 game .. but alas, I went with Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 as my second game -- only to get home and notice that I deleted all my game saves when I traded it to Gamestop back in September. Oops.

I'm also still looking for a copy of Crackdown 2 -- if anyone has an extra one, let me know. I can possibly pick up a UFC 2010, Bad Company 2 (with VIP), Splinter Cell Conviction, Dante's Inferno or Bioshock 2 in return.

Friend and I went up and each got GOW3 and Bioshock 2. Called ahead and they had 11 GOWIII's so considering heading up and ebaying a few.

wow my bbv's were totally cleared out today! I already got most of the stuff i really wanted when the b1g1 first started but im amazed even the stores near me that usually get no business were barren, It must be because of christmas

My store had Ratchet and Clank but one of the employees was telling me how he just got a PS3 and bought that copy. Arrggh. Should have grabbed.

Also, when I was at GS to trade some games in after my last run, there was a lady with a kid probably 4-5 years old wanting The Clone Wars DS game for 17.99 used at Gamestop. I overheard her as I was looking at DS games, and let her know that I saw a copy at BBV right down the street for 9.99 and it was B1G1 free.
wow my bbv's were totally cleared out today! I already got most of the stuff i really wanted when the b1g1 first started but im amazed even the stores near me that usually get no business were barren, It must be because of christmas
I just checked my closest BBV and it too was cleared out of anything good from this sale.

Oh well. It's looking like this sale is gonna go out with a whimper and not a bang due to no further price drops to make newer games qualify and the total lack of stock around here.
yeah i hope so, its been a while since we've seen them. i wonder if the person that bought them was legit as not one peep from anyone else about seeing them so makes me think he was FOS(not friend of sonic) although the part numbers and everything else were legit so i dunno.
I didn't find a pog, but in the games bin at one of my BBVs, i actually scored a sealed copy of LBP. The woman working at the register was nice enough to honor the B1G1 on it, even though it wasn't a used game. I think this is the first time i've ever seen a brand new game out in the open.

My closest BBV had about 8 GOWIII last week that are now all gone. Only items I found that qualified were about 5 copies of Bioshock 2, a Lost Planet 2 and a Wolverine prepack (all PS3). Again there is still a ton of 360 titles. Didn't really look to see if there was anything decent as I don't have a 360. Was thinking of picking up some flips since the sale is almost over, but I'm not sure those titles are worth messing with.

The big thing I noticed during this sale is that BBV ordered a crap-load of Bioshock 2 for the Xbox 360. There were probably a dozen copies at every store I visited.
Not trying to, just want to flip it and get it over with. Anyway, I have done the trade in of the first two games. But got another question, they asked for ID and phone number, as like other stores' trade ins, did they used that to like create a trade account or use that to keep track of your trades? I want to send a family member to flip that extra one, but did not want to risk getting anyone in trouble or anything.

Sorry, this is my first time trading in with f.y.e.

Thanks for all the hard work!!:applause:
Nope, you're good to go. FYE doesn't keep a database of what you did or didn't trade in

Just checked FYE: GOW III is trading at $18 cash, Bad Company 2 (360): $13, and Army of Two 40th Day (360): $4.38. (Thought I'd check that last one as I've seen quite a few of them)

I just called the one in Burnsville, MN, so it's possible that the prices vary between stores.

For my last hurrah, I picked up :360: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and :ps3: Bioshock 2. Thanks to hawaiiboy and everyone who gave the advice of asking a store to search for a particular game. Was able to find MUA 2 at a nearby store even though it was in a drawer.

Was very happy to pick up God of War 3, Bayonetta (360), Splinter Cell Conviction, and Zelda: Spirit Tracks for $30. Zelda and Bayonetta were complete, and original cases. GoW3 was a generic case with wrinkled manual, same with SCC. Overall I'm very pleased! Thanks for those keeping track of these sales. I never check the local Blockbuster otherwise.

Hopefully at least there will be some more rental conversions so more stuff is available for sale the last few days.

no rental coversions this week either. last 2 weeks of this sale has been crap.

Too easy pass up. Especially since even the guy keying cars is making fun of him now.

So, this runs THROUGH Monday, correct? I may try to get a few more games tomorrow by the BBV by my work. They had the best selection thus far.

Hey Hawaiiboy, thanks for your update! Your help has been really appreciated here. I managed to pick up quite the haul this week. I have one question for you, I called a local store and they had Singularity in-stock, I went there and they had a generic case but the game was not in there. Do you think they have the game in-stock or is the system messed up? I want to exchange my 3rd copy of GOW3 for Singularity.TIA!

did you bring it up and try to exhange it? most stores dont keep the games in the cases on the floor unless its a clear case prepack.

No. I just showed up and said I called about the game. She looked thru the drawer in the singularity case, looked thru the discs and it wasnt there. She then said if it shows available it should be there. She then said hold on, but I didn't bother. Maybe I'll call tomorrow and ask if they found it cause their system says its available so it should be there(according to what I overheard one of the associates say).

Could be just mis-filed and they didn't want to look hard enough or it could just be an inventory issue. My bet would be mis-filed but you never know. If u go in the morning they should have time to look thru all the games to find it.
Too easy pass up. Especially since even the guy keying cars is making fun of him now.
Never said I was gonna flip....just asked. I aint missing the Broncos game to make 87 cents
Nope, you're good to go. FYE doesn't keep a database of what you did or didn't trade in
Thanks for replying. I was hoping someone would answer it. Well then, on to FYE and just going to get it over with.

Mario & Sonic at the SUMMER Olympic Games Wii $9.99FREE

If anyone can get Zelda Spirit Tracks or Mario Party for DS, let send me a PM. I can pretty much get any clearance game. Thanks!

Were those on the same transaction? If so, you got a dick employee

Why not? Their season's been over for about six months now.

Unfortunately yeah, but the guy is totally not a dick employee. In fact he has converted many games over from rental versions just so I could buy them for the sale. I just actually noticed that, and if I asked to ring them up seperately he probably would have, I didnt even notice they rang up like that until I left the store and I didnt wanna go back and seem like a greedy prick over $5 since he didnt have to convert any of the rentals over for me.

Wow, really, I'd pay 87 cents to not have to watch a Broncos game ;).

I had a little bit of credit left over from the $25 + $5 gift card deal. I sure as hell didn't want to be stuck with that going into the new year. So I went to 3 BBV stores yesterday. For the most part they were wiped clean despite 2 of them having no signage whatsoever for the B1G1 deal. At the last store (which did have signage up) they said they got hit hard over Christmas. I hadn't really been in since before that. There wasn't a single God of War III at any of them and I couldn't even find 2 games to go together at the first two stores. Each one had like one thing (Endless Ocean Blue World at one, for example) but nothing to pair it with.

Finally, at the third store I got Tatsunoko vs. Capcom since it was mislabelled at $20. I had actually seen this before it dropped and went to this store after the last drop and couldn't find it. I had just assumed it got snapped up but I guess it was just never put out with the sale games and since they had gotten every other title right I didn't bother looking at the normal racks (though I usually do so anyway).

I paired that up with a GTA IV which was sort of an odd find. It has actually been sitting at this store in the B1G1 bin for weeks. I guess no one wanted it. So I got rid of my last $11 in gift card credit. I'll probably put this thread to rest after tomorrow and start a new one for the dead period we'll have here for a while.
For my last hurrah, I picked up :360: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and :ps2: Bioshock 2. Thanks to hawaiiboy and everyone who gave the advice of asking a store to search for a particular game. Was able to find MUA 2 at a nearby store even though it was in a drawer.
Bioshock on PS2? How does that run? : D

me 2, I live by 3 block busters and all of them had 1 or 2 copys each, well the case but not the game. Not sure if on list, but got dirt 2 for ps3 and wii, and god of war collection. They where 14.99 each also. And sometimes they mess up. I brought a princess and the frog game 9.99 and when i got home my niece was mad cause it was mario galaxy 2 inside lol.

Went to 4 Blockbusters today and the selection has been slim pickings at each of them. Finally got Crackdown 2 and it still had the helicopter avatar code intact. I couldn't find anything else to pair it with except AvP (PS3) since I pretty much bought all the big 14.99 games.

Time to go back into hibernation, hopefully BBV will be around for another B1G1. Another one near my house closed down.

Thanks goes to hawaiiboy, to Blockbuster for not only the sale, but the gift card sale, and also FYE for giving me $26.40 for each copy of Kane and Lynch 2, effectively giving me a lot of games for free.

Maybe I'll make one last trip tomorrow, b/c who knows what 2011 will do to Blockbuster.
Never said I was gonna flip....just asked. I would say buy the cheap ds games, singularity if u can find it, dirt 2, and the marios. Or do like me and just sell on amazon.

Clearly another mistake in your favor (in addition to getting the SMG 2 disc in your Princess and the Frog). This was probably a mistag from God of War III. GoW Collection is still $19.99 unless Hawaiiboy and the stores around here both missed a recent drop.

If a game trades in for $2, but you paid $5-7.50 for it, then HOW are you making money on it if you trade it into Gamestop for the 5/$20 deal?

$20/5=$4

So let's say each game from BBV you buy gets $2.25(just barely enough to qualify) there. That's $6.48 per game after promo bump and PowerUpRewards 10% for:)lol:$.23) a net loss of $1.02 per game.

It's not very smart to go into BBV hoping to make bank at GS by trading in the sale games unless you check JP's Gamestop trade value thread beforehand and only buy the games with $6+ values to trade in there.

Otherwise you're giving them games at a loss.:booty:

Don't know if this was a mistag or an unreported drop, but I saw X360 Alan Wake with a $14.99 sticker on it. I didn't try to buy it because it didn't have the manual or the signal DLC. But might be worth price checking if you've been waiting for this one to drop.
