Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

I forget. Medal Of Honor is one of the EA games you need the online pass shit for to play online, right?

I had a copy of it from AWD a while back and I was tempted to play online when I heard you could be the 'enemy combatants'(aka Taliban). I fully intended to play as a suicide bomber against other players.;)

But I never bothered with the multiplayer(or even single player) and I ended up trading it in for almost 2x what I paid.:)

Enslaved

Fable III $19.99
I got two of them. One I just received yesterday from BB.com(16gb) and it's likely going to a friend of mine as a belated b-day present. The other one I picked up(32gb) from a local BB last night when I was shocked they still had them in stock.
A sucker for marketing right there.

Not really. I just wanted one cuz my PC is acting up and it's cheaper to buy a $100-150 tablet than muck around trying to fix up my PC at this point.

Nah. I just have to set back up my wireless internet on my DSL modem. But if I start going back outta town for work again I'll definitely take full advantage of the wifi at the places I was going to.;)

As for being on CAG 24/7 I always leave my browser open to CAG, so it looks like I'm on here all day already.

Price drops effective 8/29 also the start of the b1g1 free sale.

:ps3:
Crysis 2 $29.99
Dead space 2 $19.99
FIFA 11 $19.99
Fight night champion $29.99
L.A. Noire $29.99

:360:
Crysis $29.99
Dead space 2 $19.99
L.A. Noire $29.99
NBA jam $9.99

Wish I had better news but that's it.
No blu ray drops either.

Just a FYI. Starting 9/1 game rentals will be $1.99 a day for new releases and $.99 a day for older titles. Also anyone with blockbuster online will be able to exchange the mailers for any $.99 game free with no return date like when u swap it out for a movie. Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone actually still rents from bbv

That's badass. I recently resigned up for Blockbuster online, so this is great news. I didn't think I'd rent much since games are scarcely available online. But I will definitely rent some now. What determines an older game? Will it specify it on the case or something?

Thanks, HB. Take care.

So glad they changed the game rental policy. Redbox is never stocked with games.

If I can find a complete Fifa 11 that would also be awesome.

Probably gonna pick up l.a. Noire but idk what other game I would want. Is metro 2033 $14.99?

Unfortunately metro is $19.99

Yeah the case boxes will have the price on them just like the movies are priced.

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS Thank you

Thank for the update HB and that's good news about the game rentals. Definitely plan to take advantage of this in the Fall, if my local store stays open.

Thanks for the updated list Hawaiiboy. Nothing on there for me that I haven't either owned already or just plain old don't want. So I guess maybe I'll sit out this BOGO like I did the last one.

Is this b1g1 for game $14.99 under? Dead Space 2 is $19.99 which is not qualified for b1g1? thanks.

When you've been on CAG as long as some of us, you tend to buy more games than you can ever possibly PLAY. As of now I have at least 40 games in my backlog that I could be playing rather than worrying about what to buy at a BOGO sale. Besides which, the only games I would consider for this sale are :ps3:Homefront(if it were $19.99) and :ps3:Enslaved(though I already had this soon after it came out).

Otherwise I have most of the games I've want to play in my backlog already. Between Amazon's Warehouse Deals site, Sears/Target clearance and the BOGO's in the past I've got enough to play till the PS4 is out at least.:booty:

I believe Hawaiiboy said it's supposed to be like the last time, where you can buy ANY priced game for the one you buy but the 'free' one has to be $14.99 and under.:whistle2:# Personally I wish they would allow you to buy games of any price and get any priced game free, as that would have me double thinking my plan of sitting this one out.
So the b1g1 starting Monday is the same as last time. Buy ANY priced game and get a game $14.99 or under free. Lower priced game is free.
That what you're looking for?

Nah I hear you, just bustin ur balls. Im going light this time too I guess. I dont really expect anything to be left that after cleaning it out last time. Like I said, might grab a copy of Spiderman to keep and Dead Space 2.

You know the sick part is, you could've bought Dead Space 2(LE no less in many cases) for $19.99 NEW from Sears last month around this time. They had it on sale the one week.

I'm looking at my backlog and considering dumping some of it to Best Buy while they have these 40-50% promos going on right now. At least then I won't feel so annoyed with myself for buying so many titles and not even completing 1/5th of them.

Well that list is no good. Still though I might buy Shattered Dimensions or something else. I'll check it out regardless since I just got 50 bucks handed to me for some reason (belated present) so why not spend it haha.

Assuming of course the storm doesn't kill me on my way to the store.

When does blockbuster put new games on the shelf before a sale ? The day before ? Mine has a much smaller selection than last time as they haven't put many new games in the used section since the last sale. Shattered demensions isn't there anymore either :( hope another copy is placed on the shelf soon. Oh and Thanks hb for the update as always :)

Will there be a 5 games per month limit on instore game swapping just like with the movie rentals?

Whatever your plan your on is how many exchanges you have. They upgraded most if not everyone to unlimited I thought.

When does blockbuster put new games on the shelf

There is a game transfer every Sunday. Our store averages 20-30 pieces each week. Most stores do them and put them right out but some may wait til Monday if they're busy or lazy.

HB, this is awesome, awesome news. I really am glad I stuck around with Blockbuster and hope that they do not close the store across the street from me. Is there any kind of deal for bringing in a mailer and exchanging it for a $1.99 game?

I might be picking up NBA Jam in this B1G1 sale. I know the On Fire edition is coming out but it seems like it's going to be stripped down version of the same game for more than what I could get it for here. Plus $5 for nostalgia is totally worth it. LA Noire for $29.99 is sort of temping but I'm still holding out that it'll be $25 or less on Black Friday. If I could get two $29.99 games for the price of one, I'd bite in a heartbeat.

You should've bit on that messed up TRU promo a while back where they were offering 2 games for $50 cuz L.A. Noire was one of them.;)

Either that, or he lives in my area where there are only like 2 BB left in driving distance, and their PS3 selection is always like 5 games or less. Not worth the gas.

No deals for the $1.99 games as they will still be $1.99 for the first day and $.99 each additional day with or without an exchange.

In for bulletstorm and whatever games, maybe uncharted 2 if I can find them. Im going light this sale also since I pretty much raided out the only blockbuster around. Strange thing they always let me convert rentals into sales...making it so easy to get everything I wanted. They know me as the asian guy who comes at 10am and buys up all the good game lol. Tried asking other bbvs if they would convert rentals for me, but they say its not even allowed. So whatever I love the bbv I go to and no I will not tell where it is. Lol

Believe me, I wanted to but I couldn't find a second game to pair with it. I tried to get a friend of mine to go in on two copies of L.A. Noire with me but by the time he decided if he wanted to do it, the deal was over.

I'm going to resist the urge to go to Blockbuster tomorrow after work to give them some time to update some of the prices. Most of the used games they have haven't been updated since the last sale and I hate asking them to ring up everything to double-check the price. SWFU2 is still marked at 19.99 and there's a ton of them.
