The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Gen. Discussion & Info
How long have you been using the sword? What kind of sword is it? What level is your blade skill? The Blades base north of Bruma has an armory you can take stuff from, as well as the imperial arena.
Go to Chorrol. Then go south to a small house called Weatherleah. Then travel east to a place called Redguard Something Something. Its a cave filled with Ogres and (for me) there were two goblins outside it. Go into the cave killing all the ogres until you get to a big room with a sizable hole in the middle. Jump in the hole and take the tunnel to the east where you should find the Ogre captain. Kill him and he has the 'Honor of Chorrol' sword. Its a quest item that (for me) did 21 damage 1handed. It may not be there if you haven't started the quest line, but its worth a look. It has 0 weight too. You can later turn it in for a really nice sheild.

Is it odd that my two highest skills are minor skills? Sneak and stealth are both in the high 70s but I picked a warrior type skill set. Sneaking in this game is just so much fun. *creep*creep*creep* 6X critical! *mage goes flying across the room limply*

You have to go to Chorrol or Cheyndal (cant remember) and ask around. People will say they know a guy from the other village that doesn't remember them. Then you have to go to the other C town and theres a bar to right from the main entrance. Theres a guy in green talked to him. He tells you to find whos imitating him. Then you have to go back to the other C place to find him. After that they want you to find their old house. Thats south of Chorrol. Then a dark elf starts asking around and you have to find him. He tells you the green guy's dad stole something for him but decided to keep it. Its in the ogre cave to the east of their house. Its a pretty nice sword and I was going to keep it, except for the fact that you cant enchant it.

I have a nord named Chuck norris with.

Strength
Willpower

Combat

Sneak
Hand To Hand
Marksman
Block
Restoration
Athletics
Light Armor

He kicks so much butt with hand-to-hand, I never needed any weaponry.

I currently have two saves, one is a Good Version, and One is evil (with over 200k of bounty on him so far) and I can state something..

..Leveling makes npcs drop better loot :)

Ah, but can he roundhouse?
Leveling gives enemies better weapons and such but rare and enchanted loot I believe is governed by Luck.
Part of it is luck/random, part of it is that certain things are set to give you certain levels of loot, like how some containers have crap in them, some have midlevel loot, and some have high level rare stuff. The enchanted loot starts appearing two levels after the non-enchanted versions of that loot appears.

Well I started the Main Story line today. It was harder then I thought. Once In Kavatch(sp?) there were like 6-8 enemies at once. I can take 3 by myself but 6-8???? Man that was hard. Hopefully it gets easier from here.

 That quest sucked. I tried to do it at level 8 and came upon the first group of 2. The soldiers ran past them to the group of 4 behind them. The first two came at me along with a third from the soldiers train. One of the soldiers died against their 3 while I was getting reamed 3 on 1. Managed to fight my way out of that. Then the soldiers ran head on into a daedra, two scamps and two clannfears. The captain died, I ran around spamming skeleton summons and slashing wildly trying not to die. The other guard died leaving me with a crippled archer. So I just made sure I kept agro on the mobs and ran around while the archer shot at the train on my ass and I tried to heal myself.

I just had to fight 4 trolls and two ogres at once. It took me twenty-five minutes to beat them.

Before that, I had to fight two trolls at once, followed by an ogre on his own.

Then, after that twenty-five minute battle, I had to fight two more trolls and two more ogres, seperately.

The ogres would kill me in two hits, so I had to run in circles around this giant put, summoning ghosts and zombies and randomly hitting them. Took me a decade.

THEN I had to fight a minitar, who is way easier than ogres.

Shitty loot, to boot.

Worst. fucking. Cave. Ever.
Ahh you know what? I did the majority of that quest! Then I got sidetracked with the fighters guild...sweet.
haha same here I didnt finish as I had a feeling I would need more powerful magic and be past level 20 or something thanks kayden for the help again.
I found a bug in the game too...

**Spoilers**

During the Dark Brotherhood quests, you can take a sidequest from one of the other members. Later on you end up having to kill this guy BUT the quest never says "cant complete" or anything and the green marker still leads you to where the guy you killed SHOULD be . Now I have an active/current quest that I have no way of completing, it should just say failed or something .. but oh well not a big deal.
There is a quest like that in Anvil. I had a bad NPC kill this good NPC and whats funny is not I need her. She is dead in the back of a shop. haha. Whats really funny is she is dead cus of me. I was to weak to kill these ghost so like usual I ran them into town and had all the good guys team up on them. Well she got all gung-ho and got her self dead. >

o_O. What level are you? Trolls are weak to fire, so use an enchanted sword/spell. I killed level 20 ogres in 4-5 hits. I sneak attack them and then take a few swipes inbetween dodging their massive swings.

The only enemies I really can't kill are zombies. My magic does no damage (course, I have like level 12 destruction :dunce: ), arrows don't even phaze them, silver does dick and it takes almost every charge out of my fire sword. Silver doesn't seem to do that much damage to undead for me. =\ I even enchanted it with fire.

I went into Chorrol just to cause trouble. I laid down my summon, had a death hand follower and mage follower. I started killing guards and townspeople. I ressurected a guard and he tried to arrest me too. Then he started attacking me again. Its weird because all the townspeople fought for me.

There was another mission where I had to assassinate someone in the middle of town. I shot him with an arrow from the other side of town. None of the guards saw me hit him so when he tried to hit me back they all raped him.

Haha, I love the reactions of the NPCs sometimes. I did one of the beginning Dark Brotherhood quests involving a staged death. The guy's thug must've seen me in the attic through the slit-hole and came charging at me upstairs. I ran my ass out of there and he followed me around town swinging his axe. Guards then congregated and beat on his ass for me. Must've thought I was an innocent victim of a barbarian gone wild.

Yea werid shit happens all the time in this game for me. I was just about to enter a cave when I heard someone shooting arrows. So I went tocheck it out and 2 Imperial Legion Archers are going at it with arrows just shooting each other while a bunch of deer are running around them. I'm guessing they were shooting at deer and one of them accidentally missed and shot the other guard and he got upset and returned the favor with his own arrows. It was a site to see. Good Stuff.

I saw two guys bust out into a fist fight after I had talked to one of them. The guy I talked to bad mouthed the guy standing next to him, so they started going at it.
Ah, but can he roundhouse?
He doesn't need to! He beat guards down in 3-4 or sneak behind them and instantly kill them with his fist!

I think I'm level 16 or 17, or something...

Kayden, I brought the brothers back to the house, and the quest was complete...sooo I went to the cave myself, searched the entire thing, but no master ogre or anything. Do I have to go back in town and talk to the dark elf guy? I hope I can still get this sword...me being the master of the fighters guild shouldn't have any effect right?

I guess they don't spawn until you talk to him...

I can't remember his name, but hes a dark elf in chorrol. He actually ran into me when I walked out of a door.
I wish something off-the-wall would happen in my game. I haven't seen anything of interest yet :/
Have you been to Skingrad yet?

When the little elf dude (Glarthir) asks for your help to spy on people, say no, then watch what happens.

Then you'll see something off-the-wall!

I agreed to help him and then read the strategy guide on the mission. I really wish I had said no just to see that.

I just did that quest last night and saved over the file. Now I'm really curious as to what happens.
I agreed to help him and then read the strategy guide on the mission. I really wish I had said no just to see that.
Wait I did say no. To all of his questions on the people. Was it wrong to say no? OR were the people actually out to get him?

Me too. Glarthir was fucking insane.
Wait I did say no. To all of his questions on the people. Was it wrong to say no? OR were the people actually out to get him?
You have to refuse to help him at all. That means no spying.

I've been, but damn I guess I missed that.

*Goes to turn on Oblivion*

PM please and tell me what happens. :)

I did the Glathar quest, but I thought he was a fag so I hit him with my Hot Peppery, No? (custom glass fire sword +25 damage) and he flew about 15 ft.

I saved after killing him so I would like to know what happens. Spoiler box it or something.

I actually did the spying for Glarthir and reported to him that no one was spying on him. I took him out quick after he attacked me.
Zewone How did you make a custom sword?
With those sigils you get from closing Oblivion gates.

I think you can also make them once you are Arch-Mage in your Arch-Mage room, but I haven't tried it yet.
Spoiler box it or something.
All right, here goes.

Upon your refusal to assist him, Glathir goes on a MUDEROUS fuckING KILLING SPREE RAMPAGE. You can watch him run from house to house chopping people up. The guards will attempt to silence him after the first victim, but you can provide interference.

I love the way the spoiler box leaves the smilies intact.

Or
You can accept, then say no, that no one was spying on him, and then he will think you are on there side, and attack you, kill him. Or say some of them are spying on him, and hell give you 1000gold if you do (or so it says). After each person, he gives you ~200 gold.

You can sneak into the archmages tower with charged soul gems (and knowledge of a spell) or you can run all over the map to the mage guilds to do all their quests to unlock the university.

I'm having a tough time finding Ectoplasm to get past this quest for the Fighter's Guild. Anyone know a specific cave where a bunch of ghosts are hanging out?

Go into any elven ruins.

There's that one guy's house in Skingrad I think it is that has some ghosts and skeletons in it that respawn every couple of game days as well. Not the best description ever, but I have a hard time remembering exactly what is in each city.

Damn. I just got a spell that does 90 damage to anything in a 9 foot radius.

I don't have enough magicka to use it, yet.

There's a haunted ship in Anvil filled with ghosts. There's 5 easy ectoplasms right there.
