The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Gen. Discussion & Info
Apparently the dupe trick doesn't work after the patch. Damn. I have no money, I'm stuck in Oblivion and I'm low on gas.
just play the game regularly then... by the time you complete one or 2 dungeons, you'll realize you've made a bundle of cash.

Very true. I never did any tricks for money, nor even went out of my way to make any and I'm loaded. The best money maker is the arena. Get to grand champion and you can make over 3K a week in fights.

I don't care about cash, I just need a new sword. And it completely doesn't work.

I stumbled on the "dupe" trick entirely by accident, and I use it to great comic effect. I like duping 20 or so of those "Mother's Head" s that are from
the traitor of the Dark Brotherhood's hideout
and just kicking them around. Dungeon crawling gets boring, so you gotta make your own fun sometimes.
OK, I assume since I can't get the two guys in Imperial Corruption over 70 I need to go influence more people?
A charm spell should work.
A charm spell should work.
Suppose so. I wonder how I got the lady over 70 the first time, and them I can't get past 65 (maxed). I must be a ladies man. :)
What is the easiest way to get the 100% Chameleon? I already have access to the Arcane University since I'm the top mage now.
I've never done it, but I believe that you give 5 different pieces of armor you wear 20% chameleon each.

I'm a bit stuck on my game. I am tring to finish up on the Theives Guild. I just got a new fence and a new chick lizard person to report to. She said I need to fence atleast 200 gold worth of stuff and I did about 3K maybe even more. Everytime I talk to her I get the same reply. She doesn't give me a new mission or anything. Could I have an old existing mission I'm not seeing? I pop the Theives Mission up and the red arrows lead me right to the Lizard lady and my lizard fence.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They come to you when you have to fence so much for a mission don't they? I just fenced a bunch of crap in the beginning and enough for each mission person and they came to me each time.

I found the mission I was missing. Thanks.
Oh SWEET!

How much is it gonna be?
2400 pointsfor 360 (so $30 retail). Forever. It's XBLA only so it will never drop in price. That really sucks. Maybe it will be bundled with Oblivion retail some day, but the 360 version isn't planned as a retail release.

Whoa whoa whoa!!!!

$30 for an expansion like this? Does it double the size of the fucking game? I was expecting $20, 1600 points.

Has that been confirmed? I was hoping it would be 1600 pts. a.k.a. $20.

That's about the normal price of an expansion. Not to mention it supposedly having 30+ hours of play. That's more than I get out of most $60 games.

Ah fuck! It's true!

This is the same amount I payed for the game itself six months ago!

Goddamnit I fucking hate digital distribution.

I want this so much! I was expecting to spend $20 on it, but $30 is just so much. Oh god, I hate this.

If this is truly 30 hours I may bite, but for $30 it better damn well come close to doubling the land area of the original game. I don't necessarily want 30 hours of the same dungeon, I had enough of that my first play through. I'd rather more interesting missions like the Thieves and Dark Brotherhood Guild quests.

Keep in mind though, there will probably be a GOTY Edition for Oblivion that includes all the expansions and what not further down the line. They did it for Morrowind so I'm sure they'll figure something out for Oblivion.

it's not XBL only... it's been confirmed now that it will be available via retail for people without live... also confirmed is a GOTY version with all the downloadable stuff as well as shivering.

It's been confirmed as being part of a bundle with Oblivion and past DLC -- not as an individual disc.

I might just wait for that.
this is what I've seen so you could be right or wrong:

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/03/08/shivering-isles-to-be-released-at-retail/
When asked how Oblivion fans who don't have Xbox Live could get the Shivering Isles expansion pack, Nesmith admitted that they were working on a retail version.

Segway into admitted retail version:

According to Nesmith, there will be a new special edition of Oblivion available at retail that will include all of the previously released content including the new Shivering Isles expansion. He also went on to say that there will be more downloadable content for Oblivion in the near future.
Then the blog, who interprets the same way I do, gives the reader two choices:
So, does this sway your decision to download Shivering Isles by just selling your current copy of Oblivion and purchasing the new special edition when it releases? Or are you happy with downloading the expansion and having it stored on your hard drive?

I missed out on half the old content, so I wouldn't mind getting the new edition since it will have all the downloadable content on the disk.

Well if that's the case then I'm going to sell my current copy and just wait until that GOTY edition with all of the expansion packs comes out.

So is this retail disk Oblivion plus the content, or is it like the Halo 2 map pack disk that just copied the maps to your hard drive?
I thought it was like the Halo 2 disk, but after reading some of the comments from other CAGs I'm not so sure.

Man, I really want that combo pack with the d/l content. I'm sure it'll be upwards of $100, but that's saving a fair amount off of the d/l price and CAG should help to make it even cheaper. Glad I haven't picked it up yet!

I really doubt it will be 100.00 retail.

With the latest expansion, they're closing in on $60 of additional content having been added to the game:

Shivering Isles: 2400 Pts
Knights of the Nine: 800 Pts
Spell Tome Treasures: 80 Pts
Vile Lair: 150 Pts
Mehrune's Razor: 250 Pts
Thieves Den: 150 Pts
Wizard's Tower: 150 Pts
Orrery: 150 Pts
Horse Armor: 200 Pts

4330 total MS Points

If they bundle all that in plus another expansion that's sure to come out before the end of the years for $100, it'll kinda look like a bargain to people like me who've been holding off on a purchase, and will also be at a pricepoint that won't offend the tens of thousands of current players who've already sunk their money down for the d/l's.

Load times are almost twice what they were before the patch, anyone having this problem? the outdoor areas look real nice, but load times between indoor areas are unbearable.

Maybe my roomate's copy of the game is just too scratched or something...

Have you tried that "hold A" trick or whatever it was to clear the games cache? I noticed my load times went up bigtime after playing many other games inbetween oblivion sessions. I am going to try it out later, but maybe it will work.

Load times are the same for me. Must be his copy.

And the casual fan will think...why the hell is a game 100.00

I barely noticed much from the update, but I did realize that the loading times weren't as choppy when gong from one area to the next... actually, everything seemed to load better.

lol, funny they still havent fixed my bug with the Thieves guild quest at the very end so I can never get that achievment hah. Basically the dood talks to the lady and then he walks off but my char is stuck there forever and the strangest part is that the lady goes back to her chair and sits backwards. Oh well............
