Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V7! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

Since the V6 thread, we've decided to leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Summer sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 5/20

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

That made me :)

However for all the analog TV/VCR effects they mimicked, I really have to criticize missing a critical one when it comes to animation. VHS had miserable color stability, large single color areas would somewhat flicker over frames. Also those VHS tracking errors were way too small... even for late model VCRs (as indicated by the clear presence of a flying erase head).

The sequel to Oiron: Dino Beatdown, Orion: Dino Horde, is coming to Steam next week for $15 and will be free to owners of the original. The original is $9.99 so I'm not sure why anyone would spend $15 next week if they hear about this promotion. Of course based on reviews of the first one, I'm not sure how many people will be interested.

I recommend staying far away from it until you hear it doesn't suck horse dick and even then only even think about touching it at $2.50 or less. First one was absolutely abysmal in every single way.
If you've got (or are planning to get) a new AMD video card any time soon, a Steam key for this game has been added to their current promotion!

Those of us that already got a new card should be getting keys (maybe Steam, probably uPLay).
If there was a way to rate people up, you'd be getting rated up right now. I almost bought the pre-order and you just saved me the cash (or hassle of a refund).

No problem! I almost pre-ordered it myself until I saw that promo, so I figured it was worth sharing. :)
Anyone who's bought the latest humble weekly, how many tracks is the Air Forte soundtrack?
Only 4 tracks - just a little over 9 minutes of audio.
Complex is no synonym for good.
I don't know that anyone said it was, but thanks.

Not that it really needed confirmation, but the latest Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara trailer confirms it will indeed be on Steam.

More beat-em-ups please. All of them.
I really hope you can... pan out the screen a little bit with a higher resolution for four player co-op on that. I've never been a big beat em up fan, but that screen is going to get awfully cramped with four people playing at once.

lol... I feel like someone could have said "DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS" and then played Golden Axe gameplay footage and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon looks like the most amazing thing ever.
I'm most definitely looking forward to that game and the soundtrack by Power Glove.
I still need to play Far Cry 3 (original), though.

EDIT:
We need a Far Cry 3: Complete Pack [with Far Cry 3 game + FC3: Blood Dragon game + BD Original Soundtrack]
Until I see footage of the players riding mounts, it's not quite the awesomeness that is Golden Axe. ;)
Golden Axe ain't shit when it comes to the SUPREME POWER OF SHADOW OVER MYSTARA
Golden Axe ain't shit when it comes to the SUPREME POWER OF SHADOW OVER MYSTARA
Even as someone who grew up with Golden Axe I have to agree. Although the arcade-only Revenge of Death Adder is easily on par with the D&D games. How about a port of that one, Sega?

Oh, awesome, I can hardly wait for Double Dragon Streets of Rage Final Fight Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X-Men Golden Axe Guardian Heroes Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. Maybe I can finally push the limits of my dual Radeon HD 1GB GDDR5 6750s with its 16-bit graphics in 2013.

By the way, if anyone wants to make a CAG-based beat 'em up, I hear OpenBOR is fuckin' free.

Ok, if I were to have time to do this, would I have permission to use CAG's avatars?

I love beat-em-ups in the grotesque anal way and I will pay lods of emone for ports of classic beat-em-ups like this but I've never really enjoyed OpenBOR in any of its forms.

But would you love a OpenBOR beat-em-up themed around grotesque anal?

And more importantly, would you pay loads of money for that?

Because I sort of have some time on my hands.
Why, of course. Except that it would be an indie game.
I'll go for an anime art-style and add bootlegged Ikaruga levels as bonus stages.

Thanks, and you predicted my backup question. Now to determine whether I would play the game, demo was fun but very short.

Daily Deal is Ravaged, 66% off $9.99 $3.39

Also, an entire day has gone by with no mention of the current Indie Royale because it's just that unexciting. The average has been steadily decreasing over the past 15 hours, but I don't think there's enough there to get me to bite even at the initial four bucks.

I feel it's one of the strongest they've had recently, but mainly for the nonsteam games of Knytt and Real Texas.

Weird, Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall is up for pre-order on GMG (steam key) but not pre-orderable on the steam page. It isn't even listed yet as DLC on the Dishonored page (though I'm unsure if that's standard practice for unreleased DLC).

Speaking of Dishonored DLC... Does anyone have thoughts on the Dunwall City Trials DLC (now that its finally on sale, only 50% though)?

Yeah, rather disappointing reception in the IR thread. IR has been going downhill lately. The only one there that interests me is Satazius, but the demo disappointed me (it's not bad, it's just got no personality). The rest don't interest me enough to overcome the price.

It's actually one of the better and better selling ones in recent memories, but as mentioned above, the lack of Steam keys is what's keeping it from getting discussed too much.

I picked it up for the very high possibility that Knytt Underground will get Greenlit since it's doing so well on PSN, but the $7.50 price tag there was more than I was willing to pay. It's a strong bundle whose best games aren't on Steam (yet).

I see the real Texas being greenlit as well

If I had more faith in Greenlight to get Knytt and Real Texas up and around in a timely manner I probably would have picked it up, but as it is I think I can wait.

100% This!

...honestly I doubt I'd give TRT a go, but Knytt I might. I feel that Steam has been too bottleneck-y about greenlight. ...it's not like Steam is a curated collection of gems to start with.

I have grown to really like desura, so not having these games on steam isn't a huge deal, it's an added bonus. It took me awhile to get away from the no steam no deal mentality....now it's more like no client, no deal

I don't really have too much issue with the way they've handled Greenlight. They are a bottleneck, but that was supposed to be the purpose of it so that not every crappy game makes it.

They've been consistently adding approved games 10 at a time and I think so far the only hold ups after a game is greenlit is the devs themselves. Sang Froid was greenlit and debuted with Steam Keys and ready to go.

Dunwall City Trials is quite good. The levels there are more engaging than the main campaign levels on average.

Trials was available for preorder on GMG before it came out on PC. It was touch and go as to when GMG would cough up my code so if yer excited about Knife (like I am) you may just want to cough up a dollar or so more to not have uncertainty

Gamersgate has it for pre order too right now. So I don't think there should be an issue pre ordering from either.

Exactly. I think some people have unrealistic expectations for Indie Royale. The Real Texas got a lot of praise, and I'm loving Knytt Underground right now (been waiting for it to get bundled ever since it got released). I was more impressed by the new IR than the previous Indie Gala, and Retro Groupee, which only had one game I was interested in that I didn't already have.

Both The Real Texas and Knytt Underground have a very good chance of getting greenlit, and Knytt Underground is a recent release.. came out in January for PC..
