Actually I don't even know if Sega would be willing to discount such an already-discounted pack by so much,
I hate to be a killjoy for others, but i really hope you're right.

NOTE: I tried to delete this post so I could merge it with the one above. But I can't figure out how to delete a post on CAG 3.0.

AFAIK Amazon has no wishlist feature. I've been wanting one forever, and it'd be a hell of a good idea, but they just don't have it. =[
You can actually add DVG stuff to your wishlist if you use Amazon's universal wishlist feature, and, IIRC, it actually keeps up-to-date on the price.

Actually I don't even know if Sega would be willing to discount such an already-discounted pack by so much, but then again they have been pretty generous in the past.

And yes I already own all the Genesis games and Adventure 1 & 2 on their original consoles, and I've played most of the others at various points, but I want 'em on Steam dangit.
That is an awesome bundle at $40 (for someone not owning much sonic on PC). I seriously doubt it would discounted to even 50% on the summer sale, given the nice $26 Sonic Action Pack Tony ran around Xmas. I could see them totally not discounting that pack (or giving it a small discount (no more than 33%) to highlight it.

Honestly we should point out that new pack to Tony so Amazon can carry (and discount) it... hopefully with individual keys.

Sonic Action Pack:

  • Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles
  • Sonic 3D Blast
  • Sonic Adventure DX
  • Sonic CD
  • Sonic Generations Casino Night DLC
  • Sonic Generations
  • Sonic Spinball
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 2
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1
  • Sonic the Hedgehog

Said Sonic Action pack was actually down to $10 just recently, and I held off on buying due to its incompleteness. I even mentioned as much in the Amazon thread... but you know how that place is.

That said, 75% off is a total pipe dream, even for Sega, I don't really know what I was thinking.

RE: Cards Going Public

Core gamers (and thus people on CAG) have a wide range of gaming interests. This results in a situation where our appetite for collection and consumption outpaces our wallet. Steam cards represented a stop-gap measure to us. The general public is not like this.

Recall discussions on the philosophy behind F2P games and think of it this way: the "free" users are the one who are in beta now. Valve hasn't invited the premium people in yet.

It could be that when they do? Prices will be going up, up, and up with one important caveat.

Only in games they care about.

I.E. Skyrim cards are gonna be fucking crazy expensive.

And Magicka values will probably continue to suck.

My computer can finally run AAA games and what do I do- fire up Shadow of the Colossus on my PS3. Which is really weird because that machine hasn't seen any action in over a year. The reason why I will never be able to fully commit to being solely a PC gamer is because of games like this and RDR.

On a side note, Bethesda games make me nauseous. I can't play Dishonored for more than an hour without my stomach hurting and breaking out in a cold sweat. Sucks because I actually like the game. The reason I could handle the Fallout games is the ability to switch to 3rd person every once in awhile.

Please feel free to share, because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. There is absolutely no indication of adding something to any sort of wishlist on a DVG item's page.

You can either install the add-on or use the bookmark method mentioned a little lower on the page, both should work. Just use that when you're on the page of whatever game/bundle you want to add, and a confirmation box with the product's name and price should pop up. Just tell it to add it to your wishlist, and there you go.

You still can't add DVG games to your cart from the wishlist, though.

Thank you both, I wasn't aware of the addon. No matter how functional is may not be, as long as I can keep track of a wishlist, that's a hell of a lot better than before.

I could be wrong, true, but with the market already flopping, and a massive new influx of cards going to be coming into the market, I severely doubt prices are going to go up or even stay the same. Even if badges get more useful somehow, you're still likely better off selling now and then buying cards later with the money you make from selling now.

Call it wild speculation, but I could see all cards losing another 50% in value within the week.
Honestly I think this conversation is too narrow, and focused on the needs of "free money" junkies like yourselves.

You are missing the bigger picture... Steam TCG leaving beta just before the Summer Sale. The professed love of the 2011 activity-oriented Steam Summer Camp. The recent expansion of Steam badges and levels.

My inner illuminati says these events are connected.

Think back to the Winter 2011 sale. Remember crafting coal? Steam's idea was an interesting one; play games, get achievements, earn coal, craft that coal into a chance for a free-game coupon. The only reason the system broke is because Steam didn't realize that one of the games was concurrently available in an indie bundle. Users created tons of duplicate accounts, bought the games for a penny, and ran Steam out of the good coupons before the sale was half over.

Fast-forward to summer 2013. Steam is just about to launch a game-based crafting system. But this time, instead of the crafting being free, there's a cost attached. Users can't get all the cards necessary for a badge on their own; they have to acquire more cards from somewhere. That extra limitation will make it a lot harder for users to game the system; pretty much everyone who wants to craft a badge will have to use Steam Wallet in some form or fashion.

I would not be surprised at all if Steam decides to add Summer Seal coupons to the badge-crafting process. And depending on the quality of the coupons (free games? 90% off? includes Skyrim and Metro LL and BS: Infinite?), I could definitely see an upswing in the demand for cards.

On a side note, Bethesda games make me nauseous. I can't play Dishonored for more than an hour without my stomach hurting and breaking out in a cold sweat. Sucks because I actually like the game. Try increasing the field of view. It can typically be changed via an ini file or via the console while in the game. I think most of them default to 75 degrees because that is what the consoles use. I run mine at 90 degrees and can pretty much play non-stop without issue. At 75 I had a headache within five minutes.

The only problem i could see with that plan is for people to actually have used the beta to craft cards and unless the update on weds does not have alot of games they have on it. Beta people could end up being left behind.

Yes, it does.
Damn you! I'll never get those four minutes of my life back. Why would you post that when I'm just waking up in the morning?!

Nice Amazon Sonic deals, but for those (like me) who have managed to avoid buying any Sonic games - you might be better off hoping for a 75% off on this: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/26498/

Unlike any of Amazon's bundles, it's a truly complete Steam Sonic pack and the price is pretty incredible. Actually even with Amazon's current discounts they're still only $10 less than this bundle at its normal price.
If you get it from me, I can get u that bundle for $27 right now. So, if it goes on sale for even 50% off, I can get a pretty good price on it.

Ever tried any Anti-nausea or motion sick bracelets? Such as the ones that people wear for sea sickness. I have a friend who would get serious motion sickness while playing FPS games. They don't completely eliminate the problem, but they do severely reduce it.

RE: Cards Going Public

I.E. Skyrim cards are gonna be fucking crazy expensive.

And Magicka values will probably continue to suck.
From what I've seen in the marketplace, cheap and popular games have the lowest prices because a lot of people have them. So Skyrim cards probably won't be worth much unless they are some special shiny ones.

This. I couldn't play most Valve games for the longest time. Two levels of Portal would make me have to go lie down for an hour. Then I increased the FOV to 90, I think thanks to MysterD mentioning it, and the problem completely went away. I was ecstatic.

So the Company of Heroes 2 DLC hit the storefront this morning.  I played a few rounds of the beta, not having played the first game but being familiar with the RTS genre.

The DLC just pisses me off.  The majority of it is purely cosmetic - and expensive!  Color my tanks differently?  For $1.99?!?!?!?!!

To add insult to injury, they sell the same "skin" separately for your small, medium, and large units.  So if you want your entire army to match, it's $5.97?  Seems ludicrous.

i like it when games have dlc like that cuz that way i know which ones not to get

it's $10 for the steam key if you order it on their website in the next 45 mins

it's lauching at $15

good enough for me
Ugh, I saw this game months ago and was super excited for it. Missed that they were doing a pre-order deal. 1/3 off for a brand new game is pretty great. Binding of Isaac is my all-time favorite game and this seems somewhat similar so hopefully I can wait until it goes on sale again.

That's weird; is it an F2P sequel? If not I can't understand why Relic would do that. And each unit size having its own skin pack? That's ballsy.

Far from F2P - it's $59.99!

they haven't put up the post, but so far:

Oh wait.. starting to see some new deals.

Defender's Quest is one of them, I see. I've been loving that one for the past week or two

Last edited by a moderator:
Defender's Quest has cards and currently has a beta for Steam workshop support that you can opt into, though it seems like it's close to being released.

Defender's Quest has 5 cards, so what's that, 3 drops? Assuming you get at least 75 cents for each card, that'll make the game come out to about $2.50, give or take.

Picked up Defender's Quest, currently idling for cards.  Tower defense + RPG + retro graphics + CARDDDDZ + on sale = sold.  Paid for with GabeNbux I got from selling other cards.

Also - I'm one game away from having 1,000 games on Steam and getting the 1k+ collector's badge.  I feel like I should buy something cool to celebrate.

I wanna do the same thing, primarily because it has cards so that'll bring the price down a bit, but I can't help but feel like it'll be bundled by the time I get around to it.

Ugh, I saw this game months ago and was super excited for it. Missed that they were doing a pre-order deal. 1/3 off for a brand new game is pretty great. Binding of Isaac is my all-time favorite game and this seems somewhat similar so hopefully I can wait until it goes on sale again.
i've been playing the demo you get with the preorder for a couple hours

i would say it plays like a cross between

- binding of isaac

- early castlevania games

- ghosts n goblins

and has a very unique upgrading system and really tight controls. the trait system is hilarious. id pay 15 for the full game NP. idk if the demo is available on steam but its massive and will give you a good idea of how it plays. i like the demo better than binding of isaac lol.

edit - just saw that giant bomb gave it a quick look. check it out.

It looks like Defender's Quest ($4.95) cards are somewhere ~ $1 --  some a little higher, some a bit lower,  although they're not exactly selling like Tickle Me Furbies right now -- and 3 drops are included with it. Ponder the prospect of a foil-find and that's pretty tantalizing.

Incidentally, you can play it on your computer.
