There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

I really don't understand this...as long as the pictures being posted aren't offensive I don't get the big deal.

With that out of the way, hello everybody. Not really feeling it here. Had a chat with some people, silence orders came down from the top. Whether that was a case of "Yeah, whatever, silence them I guess." or a calculated decision, I don't know. All I know is that community rules have never stated posting pictures now and then and some "off-topic" posts as silenceable offenses. I'm not trying to rustle any feathers, I just think those should be added to that page so there's no further confusion.

Not here to argue rules or against the mods (and Cheapy), in any case. I ain't the boss, I'm just cog in the machine. Just wanted to say my spirit is a little bit crushed. I love this place and respect the fuckoutta Cheapy for creating this awesome community, but I'd rather not be paranoid about everything I say or do. That's why I come out of the real world to the internet. I probably won't be very active here at this point.

Makes me wonder if Bathesda has a new DLC/expansion in the works and Dawnguard assets are a requirement, so they just decided to give it away.

As cool as it is, it has to be a glitch. It seems...unordinary for Bethesda to give away such a sizeable DLC. Or maybe it's just a little something-something for people who bought Skyrim before the Legendary Edition came out it hopes that it'll get them to buy Hearthstone/Dragonborn.

Hopefully, Hearthfire & Dragonborn have a 75% off or better sale SOON...

...hopefully BETTER. ;)

Better yet - if those 2 were ALSO given away for FREE, I'd probably fall out of my chair.

Dragonborn's apparently the shizz, semi-comparable to Shivering Isles in size and scope. I played Dawnguard already on Xbox. It's nothing amazing, but it's no slouch itself. The werewolf tree and ability to become a Vampire Overlord or whatever was pretty cool. If you did everything in it, probably 10-12 hours, I guess.

 
HEADS UP: Lots of people are reporting Skyrim Dawnguard DLC is being added to their account for free.

Which it seems got some people silenced for a few days.

I reached out to cheapy after the post from the mod to let him know that this kind of banter is just part of the thread culture we've built here. He agreed that this kind of chatter is healthy for our community and that we shouldn't try to squelch it. Please feel free to continue having fun with one another in thread, respectfully of course, but we don't want to turn this thread into a digital circular. We have a fun crew here, and we want to keep it so.

The mod team has been informed of this decision so, as long as we keep things fun and light we're good to go.

Lastly, I'd like to make sure I'm clear in stating that, in this case, the mod team was doing their job as they saw fit, and I definitely don't have any negative feelings towards those actions. We have a unique setting here so there will likely continue to be grey areas like this where we need to work through how this particular thread operates.

I didn't log into Steam until around 8pm or so Central time and it downloaded the Dawnguard files.  The DLC entry was on my library page for a bit but is now gone.  That said, the Dawnguard files remained on my system and I may or may not have copied them...  Anyhooo I thought Skyrim was okay but I eventually got bored without fully exploring the vanilla map.  By all accounts Dawnguard just adds a few new locations, a faction, some OP weapons, and the vampire and werewolf stuff which I don't find particularly appealing.

Beat the first 2 bosses in Rogue Legacy, but getting my ass handed to me in the tower. I think I'll shelve the game for a bit.

Ended up grabbing this over the weekend (and then promptly went into the Civ void for some 14 hours the last couple days) but was surprised to find today that it apparently qualified me for a freebie Mafia 2, so that's neat.

edit: no idea why the quote got all fubar'd when posting but too much civ and too little sleep means I'm not fixing it..
