Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

A-Train 8 is now on steam, a train simulation game that was released back in 2008 now selling for $29.99, even with 30% discount, the price is still too much for a old game.

I'm still annoyed the Plants vs. Zombies table isn't on Steam. That and the Ms. Splosion Man table isn't on sale -__-
Oh man, I'd buy a PvZ table for sure!

I agree with you on Epic Quest - great table. I enjoyed Paranormal, the Marvel Original, and the Star Wars packs as well.

I'm really bummed about the Core and Classics packs. Each has a really good table bundled in with some stinkers.

Which tables are the good ones?

Does anyone NOT think of Garry's Mod when they read the title to this game? And what a horribly boring name it is! Incident does not scream action. The trailer is horrible. Just horrible. so bad that now I want to wishlist.
I'm still trying to figure out where fish-stroking comes into the game play elements:

"I am injured, I must pleasure 10 fish to heal myself"

Yeah, what he said.

This looks like a pretty terrible list--and I can't believe they actually greenlit Mount Your Friends. That's the most ridiculous thing I've seen this side of Surgeon Simulator 2013.
It's pretty popular on Xbox and is surprisingly fun. PC version is getting more features.

I love the genre. Through years I looked for some MoM kind-of heir, and this one is the closest one. It even surpasses my XCOM:EU playing time... And I'm an XCOM fan
Long-time fan of these games as well. Loved MoM, original X-com, Master of Orion, etc. My schedule just doesn't allow me the time to really get into games with steep learning curves, and those all night "just one more turn" until the sun is coming up sessions are behind me.

I play it 1 hour per day (more on weekends), before going to sleep, and expend the rest of the next day anxious to continue playing it xD

How does the pinball game play with a control? Looking at the paranormal table.

There are two good things about this.

1. If you ask 10 people their favorite table, you might come up with 10 different answers. It speaks to the fact that table balance is pretty good overall. Almost universally people dislike V12.

2. The base game is F2P and all the tables can be demoed. You get one ball and none of your scores are saved. It still gives you a decent feel for them. (for those squeemish about the words F2P - I with you. But this isn't your standard annoying F2P model. The only thing you'll ever pay for are more tables)

"I am injured, I must pleasure 10 fish to heal myself"
lol!

I have all the Marvel packs, the Core pack, Star Wars pack, the PvZ table, and the Paranormal table on Xbox 360. I was planning on just keeping all my Pinball FX2 purchases there, but I can't resist $1 tables. With that being said, are there any $1 tables I should flat-out avoid?

Works fine with my 360 controller. Some people have input lag issues, but I have never seen it. PC version feels more responsive than the PS3 ones, but that just might be couch latency.

Re: Best Table? I highly recommend the Marvel Avengers Chronicles Pack. 3 out of 4 of those tables are in my Top 5. Infinity Gauntlet is indescribably awesome with it's mind-bending physics and effects. World War Hulk is a great table for long sessions...massive combo potential. Fear Itself is extremely challenging, I suck hard at it, but watching the ball whip around that table is a blast. 90% of my FX2 time is spent on those three tables plus Epic Quest and Clone Wars. Honorable Mention goes to Fantastic Four.

Thanks for the heads-up! It wasn't marked down earlier and I simply wishlisted it. Bought!

It's actually a pretty easy and fun table as it turns out.

All the $1 are pretty decent.

Seconded on the 360 controller and the Avenger Chronicles Pack.

Well Steam has me double dipping on all my 360 Pinball FX2 tables, but I just figure if I saw any of these as real life tables I'd happily drop a buck for just 2-4 plays let alone ownership and I'm for anything (within cheapass limits) to encourage more tables being made.  Looking forward to the next set of Star Wars tables.

Just put a damn complete pack up for Pinball FX and make it 75% off.  I can't be arsed to pick individual tables and click multiple times.  Force my hand, damn you!

Yeah, I think I am coming to the hard realization that some of my genre preferences are just not feasible anymore. Games like Civ are not designed for people like me. It's sad, but pick-up-and-play, and preferably not too addictive, are all I can manage now.

I don't want to do this - I have an obsessive personality, and hate thinking about getting back to my game all day. Actually playing the game is never as fun as that desire makes it out to be. Or it is, and then I play for too long, neglect important things, and regret it.

Also, on one hour a day, how am I ever going to get through my backlog? :D :D :D

CAG's are never supposed to finish their (ever-growing) backlog!

I am prone to sitting there for 5 minutes trying to decide what game I want to play, and end up playing TF2 or SW:TOR because they don't require me fidgeting with the settings to run right (Looking at you, Duke Nukem 3D) I did accidentally loaded Metro: Last Light trying to read the book that came with it XD
