I
n news today, Disney has issued their Toy Story 3 press release, which confirms that the film will bow in multiple versions: a single-disc DVD (SRP $29.99), a 2-disc Blu-ray (SRP $39.99) and a 4-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo (SRP $45.99). You'll also be able to buy a new Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection (SRP $100) which will include Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy versions of all three Toy Story films. Once again, the Toy Story 3 DVD will include the Day & Night animated short, 5 featurettes (Toys!, Paths to Pixar: Editorial, The Gang's All Here, Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: The Science of Adventure and A Toy's Eye View: Creating a Whole New Land) and 3 Studio Stories shorts (Where's Gordon?, Cereal Bar and Clean Start). To this, the Blu-ray will add a Cine-Explore commentary/viewing mode (with director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson), a Beyond the Toybox alternate commentary track (with story supervisor Jason Katz, supervising technical director Guido Quaroni, production designer Bob Pauley and supervising animators Bobby Podesta and Michael Venturini), the Toy Story Trivia Dash game and 7 more featurettes (Beginnings: Setting a Story in Motion, Bonnie's Playtime: A Story Roundtable, Roundin' Up a Western Opening, Life of a Shot, Goodbye Andy, Accidental Toymakers and The Making of Day & Night). Audio on the Blu-ray will be 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Here's a look at the packaging for the Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection..

I'm trying hard not to look at a post 4 or 5 posts above mine. It seems like it needs a SPOILER ALERT. Is that correct? Like I said, I thought I saw something. Maybe some kind soul could give that fella a helpful hand.
Is this set the same as buying all three individual copies?
Basically it is the same...Disc and content wise you get everything that comes in the original released combo packs of each film. Additionally TS 1 and 2 in this set comes with Digital copies of those 2 films, the original combo release did not.

Combo of TS1 (2 Discs = Bluray + DVD) + Digital Copy
Combo of TS2 (2 Discs = Bluray + DVD) + Digital Copy
4 Disc Combo of TS3 (4 Discs = 2 Bluray + DVD + Digital Copy)

Total 10 Discs

Also note, In this set you DON'T get individual packaged cases for the 3 films. Just the big "Andy's toy box" with the 10 discs sitting sideways in black foam slits.
(Depending on how well their taken care of, while taking discs out and putting them back this can be a big issue on finger prints and scratches. See image)

Wow. Glad I went with the standalone copies.

Though, speaking of that, the BestBuy steelbook is a 3-disc steelbook, and the combo release is a 4-disc set. :whistle2:s

Yeh I don't get that either, but I assume like most people the steelbookers agree that majority don't really care much for digital copy since their usually one time use?? Perhaps they just missed it all together haha...
I mean, If I wanted a digital copy for on the go I'd rip my own DVD. So I'd just put the main discs in the steelbook.

Isn't the"Best Buy exclusive" steelbook/steelcase/ironpack really just the exact same case as the UK/Spanish exclusive ironpack? I think that one is 3 disc as well, so Best Buy basically struck a deal to get the exact same cases, just empty and with their preorder cards/UPC added.

I still can't believe I got the 10 disc toybox collection for $9.xx out the door thanks to the Target UPC sticker screw up (one of the toyboxes somehow ended up with a UPC sticker for the regular single disc DVD version of TS3 on it and it rang up at $15.99 -$8 for the manufacturer's coupon).

Somehow? ;)

Ed_... yeah "somehow". You should go read his original posting. The way he wrote it, I believe him. It was a manufacturer/target mistake it seemed.
