Wouldn't a Masterpiece Rodimus Prime w/o trailer really just be a Masterpiece Hot Rod? (not that I have an issue with that, that is how I prefer the character)
Actually one of the gimmicks of the figure is that it can turn into both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime by rearranging the legs/waist and flipping the face. Unless Hasbro decides to remove this feature from the US release.

Thing is, in vehicle form it's only Hot Rod.

I don't even really care for trailers that become battlestations or fold out to be weapons platforms, but for certain figures it feels incomplete without them.

I go back and forth with this one. I would rather have the figure with no trailer than no figure at all or a ridiculously overpriced figure. That said, it's underwhelming not to be able to get MP Rodimus.

I'm seriously thinking of the Fansproject Protector. The trailer isn't as sleek as MP Rodimus, but it integrates with the figure, which I like.

I don't think I can justify both figures, though.

Yeah, I would love pretty much all of Fansproject's items, but they're so (understandably) damned expensive I just can't justify it! I wonder if I can figure out a way to jury rig G1 Rodimus' trailer onto the MP release (idk even know how the size comparison is though)

Then dont think of it as MP Rodimus, think of it as MP Hot Rod. :D

You wouldnt be able to. The MP Rodimus is about twice the size of the original Rodimus base figure.

Ah, didn't know that. That's kinda nice though, that's it's so big. I prefer Hot Rod anyway, lol.

Damn, I can't believe some of you are finding Wave 2 and 3 of Generations already.

The stores here are just now getting Wave 1 it seems =/ I've only heard of isolated Target's in my area getting Wave 2, but Wal-Mart and K-Mart seem to be stuck on Wave 1.

I check K-Mart every Tuesday when I go in for new figures, and all they've had is the Ironhide wave of movie figures and the wave 1 combiners for over a month now... they never had Generations to start with!

Hasbro really needs to fix their distribution.

And is anyone else disappointed the War for Cybertron figs are pretty much over? I was *really* hoping they would roll out some kick ass figures for Ratchet, Ironhide, Warpath, Starscream, or Slipstream.
Yeah I was hoping for Ratchet and Starscream for sure.

I've only found Optimus and Bumblebee in stores for WfC figures. Been putting off picking them up as was hoping to get both, Megs, and Soundwave all at the same time.

WFC isn't over yet. The Generations line still has a lot of figures coming out in the coming year. The reason for the initial 4 pieces was due to Hasbro not knowing how the line would be received (hence the reason WFC didnt get it's own separate line). At the Hasbro panel at Botcon, they asked about our reaction to the figures and needless to say it was well received and they stated that there were plans to release other figures from the game in the future.
I picked up Red Alert and Megatron wfc today from Target.
Damn my stores are a piece of shit.

I had to settle on a Power Combiner Huffer and ROTF Deluxe Ironhide this morning, because my K-Mart had nothing else.

Well, except tons of Mudflap and Skids. Still.

its good when stores are slow to receive items. (sometimes)

what's the price range we talking for the fansproject stuff?
what's the price range we talking for the fansproject stuff?
Expensive. The Hot Rod trailer I linked to above runs in the $80 neighborhood. Their Warbot Defender (Springer) was $80, and the City Commander set -- a trailer for Classics Ultra Magnus -- was $90.

I just picked up their Bruticus addons -- replacement figures for Swindle and Blast-Off, along with a set of accessories to make a better, badder Bruticus -- and each figure was $45. I never imagined I would ever spend so much on single figures.

That said, everything they make is pure awesome. City Commander is incredible, and is what got me hooked on Fansproject crack. It's up there in the top three of my favorite TFs ever. It's Ultra Magnus done right in a way Hasbro has never given us but is completely and totallly authentic.

It's why I'm having a tough time deciding between MP Rodimus and the Fansproject take on it. Both have the same fundamental idea at heart, but they're different takes on it, and unfortunately both are expensive.

Do you guys think I'll be able to find some Japanese exclusives in South Korea cheaper than I would from import sites? I'm going there tomorrow and I don't know if their toy market is based on carrying the Japanese lines or if it is imports from the US.

Transformer toys in Korea are sold by a company named Sonokong. They're usually a few years behind Takara, but are usually cheaper than their Japanese counterparts.
What figure is that?
A deluxe class rendition of G2 Laser Rod Prime. I may stick to strictly Masterpiece figures now but I could really use a good TF for keeping on the desk and fiddling with.

Explain? Because I'm awful tired of looking at the same stuff on their shelves week in and week out--nothing new's coming in if the pegs are still full.

Although the other day I picked up that little scout version of Hound for $5 at Target--surprisingly good leg articulation, and the arms can swing up and down, and to the sides a little if you flex his shoulder joint back.

Its good because when stores get things late it may give you a chance to pick up a figure you may have missed, or passed up on earlier (at another store). For instance I passed up on thrust while I was at another store, and I thought that I wasn't going to find him again, as that wave completed. the store that was close to me was slow w/ their shipments and so they finally got in their load of thrusts and it gave me an opportunity to buy one. (second chance opportunity).

If you find something PLEASE let me know, because my niece was working in South Korea and she may be going back soon.... so I can come up on some stuff too!

I wish they could make custom figures... I'd really love to have a dodge Charger transformer.

Example: If I just blew 50 bucks on new figures, I'd be pissed if a new wave showed up tomorrow and I couldn't afford it.

They do make custom figures. Warbot Defender (Springer), Knight Commander (HoS Prime), Swindle and Blastoff from the Bruticus upgrade sets to name a few.

Does anybody know where I can get replacement parts? I found a Voyager Class Starscream in a Lego lot I bought and it's missing a couple of the wings. I checked the Hasbro website, but they don't have it listed under missing parts.

It's a cool plane, but the robot mode is kinda meh. Though I guess it looks like the movie Starscream.

Thanks.

one of the best places to go for parts.
You can also go to any of the message boards on the main TF sites out there and post that you are wanting them. The fandom has always been pretty decent about helping out whenever possible.

here are my favorites:

I agree with N10. The TF communities are good about helping others out. Thats the only way I was able to get the Walmart exclusive Masterpiece Starscream.
They are supposed to have a new cartoon called Transformers Prime, anybody know about this.
It's like a combination of the bastardized Baybots and the Animated series--for example Bulkhead's in it, but with a multi-polygonal look about him.
300px-Bulkhead-Prime.jpg

Frankly, I think it's going to be a mixed bag--you get the good with the bad in this series.

I've noticed that comments about acquiring Ironhide and Rodimus animateds haven't been happening in the thread here as of late--has there been success and I'm the only one failing at acquiring them?

No Watchman, I've completely struck out so far too. Will be checking on Friday when I'm near a TRU, but I'm not hopeful :(

And I'm actually cautiously optimistic for Prime. Animated was fantastic, and if even a hint of it comes through in Prime, it should pretty decent. Also can't wait for a toy line announcement.

Check Kmart for WFC Megatron and Soundwave. I found a Magatron, Red Alert, and Dark Mount there. I think they order fewer cases so they put out the newer waves faster than Walmart and Target which have a shitload of the NEST figures still clogging the pegs.

Animated Rodimus and Ironhide have been easy to come by here in Canada, as is MP Grimlock.

I've seen them both, and while they do go out of stock, they also come back in quantity. Apparently TRU can get their act together up here.

Thanks, are they they same price as TRU? If so I will go look at my Kmart but if they are more $ I will wait.
Target is the cheapest at $9.99. TRU and Kmart are about the same in the $11.99 -12.99 range.
thanks!-hopefully I will get it for him for the holidays.

My local K-Mart put out the first wave of the new movie figures (the Ironhide / Ratchet) wave and Power Combiners and that's it.

No Generations ever hit the pegs and I go to K-Mart at least twice a week.

It's definitely YMMV. You are right though that they have a shitload of NEST figures there still, and the K-Mart I go to shrink it's Transformers section down.

The Rockville, MD, TRU bumped the price of Masterpiece Grimlock to $76.99. Didn't see any, just noticed the tag on the shelf. The web site still lists the $69.99 price.

Picked up Generations Darkmount, didn't see anything else from that line beyond the first wave. No Animated Rodimus or Ironhide.

Oh ToysRUs...

Well lo and behold kids, I walked into my local TRU Express tonight and on the pegs 5 Ironhide and Rodimus Animated--I snatched up four. A set for me, and for my CAGs-in-Arms a pair as well.

So, since this time I'm extra poor and couldn't afford to buy the 5th, I decided to offer one figure to a CAG--you just need to tell me which one you want. This way at least two people end up with one of them.

I suspect though that the price--much like those of the Grimlock Masterpiece--have been marked up. They each cost $15 this time, and I know I've never paid that much.
Anyways, as before I will do a lottery using dice to determine the recipient. Interested parties will have until midnight Friday PST (that's Pacific time) to let me know via PM.

I prefer if the winners would send a cashier's check, easily obtained from any U.S. Post Office. Cost is $16.50 ($15+ 10% CA tax) total plus shipping cost (depends on where you live--I usually do priority, but we can always just to first class).

Good luck gang! Remember--you have to pick ONE.

HAPPY DAY! Also found Rodimus and Ironhide today. Last of each (along with a full peg of Ratchets, lol). Wasn't even going to get Ironhide (I have a rule about no repaints) but I couldn't resist with it right in front of me :D

Good luck in ur hunt all!

Hit up another Wal-Mart today, and no Wave 2 or 3 of Generations in sight.

This is getting discouraging. Nothing but Generations Bumblebee and Sea Attack Ravage. I really don't feel like ordering online and paying shipping for things that should be in every store and not this difficult to find.
