Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

Here's the list, prices are before discount(NOW COMPLETE!):

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.

I saw Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission green tagged, gonna wait for a 50% drop.

Snagged MMX8 and Bombastic

My TRU had 1080 Avalanche for $15 (not green tagged), so I picked that up along with a $20 copy of Toadstool Tour (GCN Non-PH)

TRU near me had the games in all in a cart with signs denoting the 30% off. I picked up
Sword of Mana GBA $15.98
SMT Nocturne PS2 $49.99
Chaos Legion PS2 $9.48
Powerpuff Girls GC $8.98
Bloodrayne PS2 $5.48

Prices before greentag, and then I found a PS2 Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance GH for only $.98 non green tag.
Nice list, but Galleon is only on Xbox.
Thanks and oops, made a little mistake on that one. I'll fix it right up.

Just came back from my second stop, no MMX7 or 8, no dot hack, no SMT Nocturne. This sale is turning into a big bust for me

Does anyone know which Golden Sun is green tagged? There are about 5 copies of Lost Age at the TRU I just went to for $20. I might just even pick it up without the green tag discount.

I drove 30 mins down to TRU pickup Sabre wulf (GBA) $10.46, Shadow Heart: Convant (PS2) $13.96 and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocture (PS2) $34.99 =Total= $63.85 on my credit card but when i pickup my game they don't have Shin Megami Instock (The employee hand me 2 game and Shin Megami Ticket back).

What can I do with the ticket ?? Should TRU call me when Shin Megami back instock or can i take a ticket to another TRU and pickup the game ?? Also, the fine print on the back Shin megami Ticket "Sale 49.99T (07/06/05 ..... 07:24 PM) but the receipt say "Green Tag $49.99-$15 = $34.99.

Hit the South Bend TRU tonight. Very little, if anything, for the big three consoles. Not much on GBA either. Just Mario Golf, the Metroids, Wing Commander, and a few of the less tempting titles (Quad Desert Fury and such). I got the last copy of Sabre Wulf and that's it.

When it comes to hardware, I got a few 16MB memory expanders (PS2) for roughly $2 each, and a Digital Blue QX3 Computer Microscope for the PC for $8.39 (green tagged at $11.48). Killer deal on the microscope. I can't believe the employees didn't snap it up. It was the last one.

Slim pickins, but I'm happy with my finds.

The first Golden Sun is Green tagged. Lost Age is not (Lost Age is $19.95)
Wait a sec... I didn't see Gradius V on the master list in the OP. Is it green tagged? If so, I'd really love to get it, and I live very close to Zon's store.
I'll put it aside tomorrow, there are two copies left (I want one as well so it works out cool).
I just went to my ToysRUs today and they had several bins of games for the 30% off sale. Picked up Metal Slug 3 XBOX and Sudeki XBOX. I had already picked up Baten Kaitos at CC, however, My store had 2 Baten Kaitos that were green tagged AND they had the soundtrack in them. YMMV is what I'm guessing though.
If the copies of Baten Kaitos were green tagged with the bonus soundtrack, it's because someone pulled the barcode sticker off the back. I tried that with one of the games at my store, and it's the original barcode underneath that rings up green tagged. I'm going to wait until it's at least 50% off before I buy one though. And if it's still on the list when it hits 90% off, I'll probably get a few more...

I'm gonna have to snag a couple of copies of Power puff girls on the cube if it's green tagged at my local TRU. For whatever reason, that damn thing was pulling $17 in credit at EB a couple of weeks ago.

Wheee! Half off for Rivieria!

It would be great if you could update us (me, heh) if EBs are still taking copies of power puff girls for 17.

I know I saw a couple at my TRU store.

TIA =)

GC BUNDLE PAK $39.99
GC PLATINUM PRO GAMER YMMV
LINK $9.99

The GC Bundle Pak is from Intec, it comes with a bunch of accessories - a controller, 16mb memory card, extension cable, game cases, and the gba/gc link.

The GC Platinum Pro Gamer kit is the huge aluminum case and comes with a controller, game cases, 4mb memory card, extension cable, and controller. This can be found as cheap as $7.98 before the 30% off which isn't a bad deal even if you won't use most of the stuff.

The Link is the GBA to GC link.

I'll have the list updated tonight with Zon's much easier to read list and all the accessories and details.

So you left the store without the game, and without getting a refund? Whenever that's happened to me, they send me back to a cashier to get my money back--I'd suggest calling them immediately and then going back to the store. You'll probably have to scream at them, and they'll probably call you a liar, but good luck.

Went to TRU....didn't see any green tags or clearance signs like before...but there were a bunch of sale signs. Nothing as has been reported here.

so you paid for it all instore and they didn't have it? why didnt you immediately just go to customer service and tell them your situation. they would've quickly refunded you back the amount back on the card you used. Either that or void the transaction, then re-ring up only the stuff they had in stock that you wanted.

I went to my TRU yesterday and found no video games with green tags on them - though the scanner told me otherwise. So hopefully they stay lazy and/or oblivious and leave things as is until everything goes 50%. ^_~

I did almost hit a gold mine of MGS 2: Substances for PS2, but knowing it was too good to be true, I took the tag up front and asked them if I could see the actual game. It was really non-GH SoL ones. Ah well, I couldn't NOT check, hehe.

Since its my birthday, I guess I'll go down to TRU and pick up one of the last two copies of SMT: Nocturne.

I might pick up Metal Slug 3. Anyone have this one? Is it pretty good? Or should I wait for the 50% off.

Was there anything of interest there at all? I was thinking of driving up there as I haven't been there in a while.

I went to TRU today to see if they had baten kaitos. They had copies with the soundtrack. I took it up and said it was part of the green tag sale and the guy wasn't sure about it, so he took it to a price scanner outside the game area. It rang up $30. I was hoping to pick it up with the soundtrack. Is the soundtrack only at TRU?

It looks like I could price match it at sears. I want the game since it's done by the same people who did xenosasga. I just wonder if it would be worth it to see if they will include the copy with soundtrack in the sale later on. Is the soundtrack really worth it?

Well, my trip wasn't a complete waste. I picked up a Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask strategy guide for $2 from GS.

yeah the soundtrack is TRU exclusive

how early do TRUs open? I plan on getting up early enough when stuff goes down to 50%... then do the same when it hits 90% (anyone get a date for this happening or if anyone has a decent idea of when this will happen?)

They guy I talked to today said he didn't know if they would do that again. If they did it, it would likely be a month or more before the 50% sale. I'm wondering if I should wait on Baten Kaitos to pick it up at the 50%. By that time, they might include it.

so are the chances of a 90% sale prety slim?

Reality's Fringe]Is Sabre Wulf any good? My tRU has a copy of it said:
I got it ages ago for $15. It's fun; a platformer with really short stages meant to be replayed for speed, with animals that can be used as tools (trampolines, weapons, etc).

Seriously, why not just "download the demo" to decide if you like it? That's one of the GBA's best features.

Picked up Drake for the XBox for a whopping $3.84. If it's as bad as the reviews, I paid $4 for a coaster and a green DVD case. What a bargain!

By the time most of this stuff reaches 90% off, it'll likely become YMMV like the penny guides as far as whether or not the employees will actually sell the stuff to you.

It's in the OP. Most TRU's open at 9, 9:30, or 10...depends on their location and whether they own their property or are renting it.

went and picked up the gc carrying case and smt nocturne today. my local tru just started the sale today. went in yesterday and saw the people tagging everything in the back. also found starfox assault guide which i thought was a penny, checked it on the price scanner which gave no price in system, took it to the counter and it rang up 15 bucks. so i left it there. other wise my tru has almost nothing worth while.

edit:
my intec gc case was marked at 11.98 on a green sticker and the employee gave me 30% off that so i paid somewhere around 8 bucks for it. not the 19.99 posted on the op list. so the price might be ymmv.
Yea, but good luck finding it.

Not one TRU in a 50 mile radius had a copy, and this was a few months ago when everyone else still had it at $30.
My Toys R Us has quite a few copies. I'm going to go snag one right away, I've always wanted that game.

30% off of a $20 game isn't bad. But oh, how hard it is for me to spend money when I can wait and get it cheaper! :(

They changed it for this year, TRUs open at 10 am and all close at 9 pm. It used to be 9:30-9:30 for most stores(some were always 10-9 or 930-9), but this year they said it would save thousands of dollars since they claim most people don't shop early or late. Sundays are completely different though as stores can open 10, 11, or even 12, but most close at 6, some at 5.

Ok, I picked up Shadow Hearts 2. One of the copies didn't have a green sticker, but one did. The funny thing is, the cashier refused to take of the 30% (which is understandable), but when I showed her the one with the green tag, she didn't know what to say.

I have a quick question for a TRU employee (or anyone else that knows the answer):

If I go to a TRU and see some green tagged Dreamcast games, will they scan as 1 cent (because they were part of last year's green tag clearance) or have the prices been adjusted to match the current year green tag clearance of 30% off?
Honestly, I can't wait until we go to 75%-90% off again, that was a great time last year!
Waiting for this as well. My TRU has tons of the GBA games I want to get but I'll wait a bit longer since 30% off $35 isn't that great.

50% is good enough for me if we get another coupon this year. Everyone was scoring stacks of free games and making out like bandits. I had one receipt with like 30 games and the total was under $10. By the time 90% came around, everything around here was cleaned out and all I got was a couple copies of Primal and some e-Reader cards.

They should be a penny. Those were suppose to be destroyed. So you might be able to score some perfectly good WSB 2K and some other DC titles.

I noticed today when I went to the back of the store there were stacks of boxes marked "$.01 merchandise NOT FOR SALE" So it appears they weren't destroyed yet. So who knows that the hell is happening with that.

I hope you are going to peek inside and see what is there! Most stores just toss it in the dumpster when they say its supposed ot be destroyed (i.e. Blockbuster)

Pretty slim picking at mine...nothing was tagged yet and I dont think they marked anything down yet either. Some of the stuff I may take back if no one wants it.

Metal Slug 3 $28
Gallop racer 2004 $35 (there is another one in the store also)
Galleon $14 (x2)
Ultra Bust a Move $20 (not green tagged)

I didnt see SMT Nocturne on the board (with all the white slips) so it must be gone. Oh, and Baten Kaitos /w soundtrack was marked $29.95 and wasnt included with the green tag items.

If anyone wants to get me a Digital Blue QX3 Computer Microscope, that would be awesome and I can pay you back or trade!!

As I think about it now, I think it's going into the compactor.

I dont know if it means anything to you, but that Ultra Bust a Move is at regular price. It came out as a budget title. I have it, and it is very good, worth the money, IMO.
