Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.

Zon i found some stuff you left out (probably because you didn't know what it was)

PS2
Gundam Battle Assault 3 $39.99
Capcom Fighting Evolution $39.99
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (Price is YMMV)

Oh and does anyone know which console has the best version of these games?

Ribbit King
Pacman World 2
Mega Man X: Command Mission
Crash Nitro Kart

I would never consider getting any of those games until they are 70% off at the earliest. Terrible list IMO, except for Black 9, which is very rare.

Mega Man X is best on gamecube because of GBA hookup for treasure hunting, no slowdown, cleaner gfx. PS2 version has demo of MMX8 though.

TRU prices are insane. At 30% off the only game I'm interested in would be SMT: Nocturne but I think my store has been sold out for quite a while now. I hate the damn ticket system, you never know if people just took all of them or if the store is really out of stock.

Is it really? Now I got something to look for :D

therealdeal: Someone is listing it on ebay as we speak.

tinman: Thanks a lot.

Quick question. Is this the way that the markdowns go? 30% 50% 90%? Someone said 70% so I was just curious.
Thanks for posting the list..

Terminator 3 Redemption $39.99 (even though this dropped to $19.99 at EB a long time ago)

Gonna wait until it hits 90% off for those ^^ I think they'll be hanging around then..
man... i gave in and bought t3 redemption for $20 about a month ago... i coulda had it for 40 - 90% =/ oh well. game is pretty good even though i cant get past this one part just because i have no idea what is killing me...

Black9
Publisher: Majesco Games Developer: Taldren Genre: Action Release Date: Canceled

Cancelled, it was never released. I'd be very interested in what is actually shipped from that auction.

SMT, the two Dot Hacks, Bomberman Jetters, and the three Megamans are definates. River City Ransom too if i can find it
I'm pretty sure Black 9 got cancelled.
And that is why it is very, very rare.
For some reason this is much more exciting to me than the CC sale
Agree'd. I didn't get ONE thing from CC, and I got all excited when I saw Baten on the list for TRU, but it's without the soundtrack. :bomb: Mine is overflowing with those.

PS2 Megaman X8 isn't green tagged at my store...I specifically scanned it when I saw that our 1 remaining copy of X7 was. GBA FF Tactics Advance isn't green tagged at my store either. Can't check on most of those because my store only has about 1/3 of the green tag games listed :(. I'd kill for a 90% off SMT Nocturne though.

VGM, if you want Command Mission, try some Target's... it's been clearance there for awhile, and it shouldn't be more than 6 - 9 bucks.
My bad I was wrong when I posted that. I realized that someone cancelled my print job at work and I was missing 40 items from my list.

Both Tactics Advanced and Mario Golf Advanced are green tagged. Again apologies for the misunderstanding.
NP I though that maybe your store didn't get a full list at once or that maybe something else went wrong (as did in this case)

Thanks to you and the OP for the time and effort typing up the full list of Green Tagged games :)

Is this going to be the same as last year's where some stores had stuff green tagged while others don't? I remember buying quite a few things where a manager came and they had to manually add the discount. Does that mean it was mistakenly green tagged or just a YMMV type of deal?

didn't this sale start on the 3rd? I went today, tried to get a game, it rang regular price but said "PROMO", and the guy seemed to have no idea about a sale. I asked him and he's like "I don't know when it is"

alright I'll try that. Thanks.

TRU is a bit slow.

I think I'll wait til these games hit 50% off and are actually worth picking up, but as I said before the list looks promising

wow... the list is awsome... probably the best stuff for this are the GBA deals... actually I take that back... the whole list looks good. I'll wait till it hit's 50%, even if i do miss out on a few titles... anyone figure out the date for 90% if ti will ever happen again?

only 1 thing want Gallop racer 2004 49.99 Hell i take the 30% off but nothing is green tag here. They are saying July 24 the green tag sale starts

If you don't wanna wait/risk it, if you have a Fred Meyer near you, I know almost all of the stores in my area have at least one copy of 2004 on clearance, for I think it was $39.99. I dunno if that's too much for you or if there's a FM near you, but just a thought. ^_^

Found SHIN MEG NOCTURNE at my TRU. It rang up about $34. Demon Stone for the xbox rang up about $20. None of these games were green tagged. Part of me wants to buy SHIN MEG NOCTURNE, but a part of me wants to wait 4 weeks for the 50% off.

Something not on the list, and not green tag but falls under the same category.

I scanned our SIS today and found 3 GC controllers in stock, pricing at $.01/each. They're Intec G-force 2, sku# 80492605017. There are similar/newer controllers to these, but the new ones have new barcodes slapped on the outer packaging and scanned at $14.99.

I don't know how other TRU's are handling these pieces, if they even have any at all. Just something for you guys to keep an eye out for while green-tag game shopping .

BTW - I pick up all three controllers from my store. :D
SHADOW HEART $19.95

Is that Covenant?
Yea, but good luck finding it.

Not one TRU in a 50 mile radius had a copy, and this was a few months ago when everyone else still had it at $30.

Three cube controllers for a penny+TRU associate=Unemployment line

Those controllers were a part of the last green tag sale and they were to be destroyed...now corporate is going through all transactions, especially employee sales, looking for penny sales-Everyone was told the consequences and you can not just play dumb-only chance you have is to return them and tell them you made a mistake-don't wait for them to find you....and...you had better not be one of my guys!

My store has at least a dozen copies that I green-tagged on Saturday-Are you anywhere near Michigan?

I think Demon Stone had a universal drop to 20 a couple weeks ago.

My TRU has several copies left. Also, I saw they had multiple Sony PSOne screens for just under $16. There was also a stand for green tagged Xbox games, but there weren't any GC or PS2 games tagged. I'm assuming they just got pulled for re-tagging.

Went by the three local TRUs today to check out their stock. I went with a list of five games I would get if they had them:

PS2 Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - No stores had this. At one, the woman looked it up in the computer and told me no stores west of the Mississippi still have it.

PS2 Gradius V - No stores had this. The above woman told me there were two stores that were 40 minutes away (opposite directions) that might have it.

GBA Broken Sword - Given the number of copies I saw, I figure I can wait until 50% off.

GBA Iridion II - Ditto above.

GBA Rayman 3 - Only saw one copy of this among the three stores, so I picked it up.

Once the 50% hits, there will be at least 3 more games I'll try to get.

After looking over the list more carefully, I have two questions:
PS2 AV SELECTOR $19.99 - What is this?

GBA PHANTASY STAR 1 AND 2 $29.99 - Is this Phantasy Star Collection or Final Fantasy I & II?

This is news to me. Not once has this been mentioned to me by anyone at the store. Sure, I've been there just a short time, but this is the first time I've heard of this policy. I'll get to the bottom of things tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads-up.

is there a set starting date for this sale or is it just whenever the store feels like it?
i know the OP said 7/3, but the guy at the store today seemed like he didn't get the memo about any sale.

I have Gradius V at my store, 2 Copies left.

Rayman 3, like 4 copies left.

Mines kind of a hard luck story. The guy at the store told me that all the sale items were set by a supervisor of sorts (he showed me a list of games at this particular store). SMT was not on it, Megaman X7,8 were not on it nor were any of the dot hacks or Shadow Hearts. I asked him to check the price on X8 and it still rang up at regular price. Only game I did walk away with was Command Mission. He told me to check back in 2 weeks. Im going to try another store tommorow.

Wait a sec... I didn't see Gradius V on the master list in the OP. Is it green tagged? If so, I'd really love to get it, and I live very close to Zon's store.

Very promising list. Some of the ones on the list that I'm going to try and get for 30% (good enough deal for me, though the CAG in me is screaming wait for 50% off)

PS2
RTYPEFINAL $9.99
SHIN MEG NOCTURNE $49.99 (already have one, but another couldn't hurt)
WAY OF SAMURAI 2 $39.99

Xbox
GALLEON $19.95 (definitely. guaranteed.)

GBA
CONTRA $14.99
FINAL FANTASY TACTICS $34.99 (most definitely if I can find one)
PHANTASY STAR 1 AND 2 $29.99 (if I find, then it's mine)
IRIDION 2 $14.99 (think I'll wait on this one though since if I remeber or correctly, my TRU has a ton of these in-stock so nothing to worry about till the 50% off.)
METROID 0 MISSION $29.99 (might wait though)

Really, the majority of the games on this list I'll be waiting for at least 50% off. They don't relaly seem worth it otherwise.

But man, what a list. This sale is going to rock for GBA games once it gets 50%. At 30% off a good number of those are still worth it, but sadly I'm not very optimistic that my TRU has them.

Thanks for the post tubtub and keep up the great work all of CAGs TRU Crew.

Nice list, but Galleon is only on Xbox.

I just went to my ToysRUs today and they had several bins of games for the 30% off sale. Picked up Metal Slug 3 XBOX and Sudeki XBOX. I had already picked up Baten Kaitos at CC, however, My store had 2 Baten Kaitos that were green tagged AND they had the soundtrack in them. YMMV is what I'm guessing though.

The 2 that I saw had the soundtrack inside of the security case, it was covering up the backside's cover art for the game so you couldn't read about the story of the game or see gameplay pictures. It was just in a cardboard slip cover.

Saw quite a few of the green tagged games. A couple of the YMMV games were at the St. Charles, IL store, including Van Helsing (Xbox: $10.99) and Powerpuff Girls (GC: $8.48)

Also hit a Gamestop and there was a huge bin of miscellaneous stuff @ 50% off.
