Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.

Yea I was flipping from store to store as mentioned above and with the buy two get one free offer that is going on in my district I am making a killing in credit. I got 4 new 360 games in 2 days by doing this. A manager at one store went from on store to the other after lunch i guess and I saw her twice today and she realized that I had already traded in a couple of the games that I had traded in to the other store she was working at earlier. She said something about it, but the guy working with me didn't do anything and continued with the trade in. I know which employees to go to now though to stop from getting the refurbish fee (even though I just picked up the game from another GS and it should've been in good condition).
I wonder how long I can do this for before the managers catch on and i'm banned.....

Lame question, but does GS really not care if we don't include cases and manuals with the games? Main reason is I think I want to keep all the cases just in case I need a "mint" case. You know how if sometimes you buy a game and the case is messed up? I usually just switch them then with an empty case.

I've traded in plenty of disc only games.....but for this deal i just peeled off the stickers and traded them in.....no use in potentially aggrevating them when you don't need to.

I dont think they care. They take in enough games as disc only evidenced by how many generic GS cases are on the shelves at any one time I am at GS/EB. I say sometimes it seems a third of the used games dont have the original cases.
lol...i can still remember the days when 12 games were big
Well, for me that is still on the large side - I usually bring 3 or 6 in most times I go in. Partly that's because I have alot of copies of the same games, so I need to spread them out :D.

Anyway, here's what I got that is new or changed (or has old dates in the Wiki) from before for the 12:

PS2
* Pac-Man World 2: $6 (still, much higher than GC or Xbox versions, and I passed up a ton of these at Kmart thinking the $4 cost wasn't worth it - for some reason I bought more Xbox copies :bomb:)
* Midway Arcade Treasures 2: $4 (same as July price in Wiki)

PSP
* Hot Shots Golf Open Tee: $5 (down $1 from the 10/3 price in the wiki, damn )
* MediEvil Ressurection: $6 (down $1 also!)

DS
Rayman: $4 (down $2 from the 9/28 wiki price, double damn )
Ridge Racer: $2 (down from $2.50)

Wow, I didn't realize till right now how many drops just happened. That's what I get for waiting a week to trade these in. But it's OK, because I got the 20% boost for a Zelda preorder and my favorite manager applied the 20% on top of the $10 (not just in conjunction but actually on top of the total trade value!).

I had a base trade value of $40.50 which should have become:
$40.50 * 1.2 (20% preorder) = $48.60 + $40 ($10 deal) = $88.60 * 1.1 (Edge card) = $97.46.

I ended up with just under $10 more than that, so that more than made up for the $4.50 in decreased trade-in values.

Tekken Dark Ressurection - 22.00
The Thing (ps2) - 1.00
The Bouncer - 2.00
Ghost Recon - 1.00
Hunter the Reckoning (xbox) - 2.00
XIII (xbox) - 1.00
True Crime streets of LA (xbox) - 1.00
Counterstrike (xbox) - 1.50

Killzone - 5.00
Ratchet and Clank Up your Arsenal - 5.00
Deus Ex: The Conspiracy - 1.00
Disaster Report - 1.50
Stuntman - 1.00

with all promos and 10%

i got 106.70 in credit
Has this ever happened to you guys and what would you do in a similar situation? He seemed really ticked off and I hope he didn't report me or something.
No worries, chewster. You own it, you're trading it in. Whether you played it or not is a non-issue. Now, if you're trading in, I dunno 15 or more games flipped from Kmart, I'd consider that a stretch. But that's me personally. Not the store.

And there are folks around here who seem to have bought prolly near to 30 or 40 dirt cheap K-games for the 3/10 deal. It's an ethical thing, and something you can ask advice about, but in truth, you will know in your heart if you're doing something right or not. We pretty much all know that the $2 kmart games will most likely be recalled to corporate by EBGS when their store inventories indicate that they have all these copies on the store floors not selling. And then they'll be destroyed. That's a loss for EBGS. So are we defrauding a company? weeeeeeeeeeeeell... We all have to make our own decisions.

That said, I did pick up a copy of Rayman DS and an xbox copy of Mercernaries at Kmart for trading because those are games that I know my local EB will sell no problem.

I didn't open the games, I only removed the stickers. Trading those in with other titles, the manager laughed that I was trading in unopened games and gave me straight up store value credit for those titles... Rayman sells for something 29 in the store and Mercenaries 15. So on top of the games I pulled from my colletion that I was more than willing to part with for the 3/10 deal, I made out big time.
I tell them that I'm an adult and take care of my games. Seriously, outside of some dust and a younger family member finger printing them, why shouldn't your discs be in good condition?
Exactly! You hold a disc by the rim, not the bottom. I think the folks at EB would be more shocked to find a game of mine had fingerprints or scratches than not. They know my stuff is always complete, the disc always perfect and resting straight up in the case.

Friends always laugh at me when they see me line up a cd in it's jewelcase. But how long does it take, like 1.5 seconds if that, to straighten it?

Oh, I don't think they will ever get recalled and destroyed. The worst that will happen to them is they will drop the sale price a bit more and end up losing a bit of credit on the trade value they gave you. But since that is credit that will come back to them anyway, they aren't losing too much. EB/GS stores sell a TON of cheap used games - and it is a nice bonus that all these games we are giving them from Kmart are minty fresh and don't look like the typical used-as-coasters budget games they have in stock.

But DAMN, girl, you got $29 for Rayman?? And just after I posted that I got $4 (well, $9 after bonuses actually) for one I also got from Kmart. Of course, I opened mine before hand .

Yes there has been A LOT of drops lately. I was trying to hold off but I think I'm getting rid of the stack I have here just in case tomorrow.

I picked up 3 cheap games at Kmart. It will be my first time to trade at EB/GS. How much credit would I get from them? Btw, I already have FF-XII preordered at GS and I'm going to apply the credit towards it.

StarFox Adventures (GC)
Dragonball Z Budokai 2 (GC)
NFL Street 2 (XBOX)

Is NFL Street 2 considered a sport game that won't be eligible for the Trade 3 Get $10 deal?

Hmmm... NFL Street 2 will be tricky. I had a DS Tiger Woods and it took 3 tries before they finally took it. But I had other games to swap for it the first two times (I usually bring an extra or two just in case). Since you just have the 3 you would have to refuse the whole trade if they won't take it (since they won't give you the bonus on the other 2 then). I have passed on NFL Street from Kmart because I knew it would be trouble.

You should be able to get a clerk to take it, but you might have to try a few times.

Looking at the Wiki, it looks like StarFox is $2, DBZ Budokai 2 is $8, and NFL Street 2 is $3, though that's an old quote. I would expect NFL Street 2 to be $1-$2 now.

So, base of $11, total of $21 if you don't have an Edge/More card, or $23.10 if you do.

Is DBZ Budokai 2 a cheap Kmart game? I know I've seen this but didn't think it was on the list. I also had no idea it got as much as $8 at EB - thought it would be $2 or something .

Damn, this Gamestop by my house that was doing the 40% off used games under $9.99, had several copies of DBZ Budokai 1 & 2, for like $5.00 or $6.00. I think that sale is over though, ah well.

That's the first time I've ever heard of that promo! It sounds like something that could have been used to move credit from EB -> GR .

Yeah, well it was 30%, but my Gamestop card stacked with it. I asked the employee, and he said their store is the only one doing it in Arizona. I did pick up a couple of cheap games, and flipped them over to another Gamestop. I didn't want to do that too much though.

Unforunately, there are no GR here. They didn't even have them in California when I lived in San Diego... are they only in the East Coast or something?

I believe any game $3 or less should not make a loss as a trade-in with the $10 bonus :)

Funny thing is that the Starfox Adventures has the bonus guide thing printed in the middle of the bottom part of the cover, and has a slightly different UPC from the regular version. I hope I won't have a problem trading it in.

I think I'll need to dig out a game somewhere just in case GS won't accept NFL Street 2. Will they still take it by itself outside the trade 3 get $10 promo?

Also, do I need a coupon or something in order to get the 30% extra bonus towards the FF-XII preorder?

yukine, why does it say "Banned" under your username? I doesn't mean you're banned from CAG, does it? Seeing that you're still posting ;)

They infest the LA area, and there is ONE up here in the NW. They don't seem to be on the East Coast either (or at least the part of the East Coast I care about - none around DC). They are in places like Atlanta (like on every corner there, it is ridiculous - though their GR are pathetic compared to mine in terms of size/cleanliness) and the midwest, where no one goes (just kidding!).

True enough - I do have that game on my list, and I swear I checked one once and it rang up $19.99 - I think this was the Tualatin Kmart, you didn't happen to get it there did you?
io, Were you forced to pay off Zelda in full or given the choice to just put a certain amount on the preorder?
No, but I chose to, just for the sake of convenience (I can only lose the credit on my card, and there is plenty there anyway). At this one particular EB where they let me stack the preorder and $10 deals for months now (just the old 10% one before) they have always let me put just $5 down. At one other EB where I used the old deal, they did make me apply all the credit to the game. As I intended to pick up the game (Disgaea 2) anyway that was fine with me.

But in general, no, it has been my experience that they ask you if you want to do $5 or pay off the whole thing. At one store they say if you pay it off in full they will hold the game for you after 48 hours. This was important with Okami because I was out of town that week, so I was glad I paid in full in that case.
Also, do I need a coupon or something in order to get the 30% extra bonus towards the FF-XII preorder?
Yes, for the 30% you do, that's why I only did the 20% - no coupon needed for that. I'm not sure which games qualify, but I know all Wii games do, and Gears Of War.

So technically, I could trade a crapload of games, claim that I want to put it towards LoZ:TP or GOW to get the 20% bonus, and end up accumulating hundreds of dollars; yet I would only be forced to use five dollars of my credit on my preorder? That's pretty cool.

Yes, exactly. And there is nothing to stop you from cancelling the preorder later anyway. Though since my favorite EB has been cool about stacking the deals I have never cancelled one on them (though I have switched a few based on bad reviews or because I could get them cheaper at GR). In fact, when I traded in a lot of games early on in the trade 3 deal, I would give them 2 or 3 preorders at a time - totally unnecessary to get the bonus, I was just being nice and rewarding them for stacking the deals. The other EB's that claimed the preorder deal ended, or that it wouldn't stack - NO preorders from me, and subsequently the crappiest trade-in games saved for them :D.

Went to a local Gamestop yesterday. I found out that since the day before yesterday Gamestop now can process EB Credit on EB store cards. Works for me, so I picked up a bunch of games for flipping. The guy at the desk even pointed out that for some unknown reason Naruto Clash of Ninja for GC trades in at 20 dollars, and you can buy them used for 16.19 and trade it in for 22 with the card so I picked one up, and flipped all the games at a different Gamestop. Total came to 67.72. Not bad at all. Only new Trade in Values I had were...

Oni PS2 $1
MDK 2 Armageddon PS2 $1

Also they wouldnt accept Project Gotham Racing, Sega GT/Jet Set Radio Future Twinpack or Outlaw Golf Holiday Edition as they were 'sports games'.
First time they have ever been denied for me, and technically the deal is 2006 or earlier sports titles are not ok.

Oh. And current instore credit $222 on my card.
Ugh, I traded in a few games the other week and they guy asked me if I'd even played the games. Caught off guard I carefully said, not really. I had just picked these $2-4 games up from kmart, so they were like new. Even if they were from my collection, they'd be in great shape... Has this ever happened to you guys and what would you do in a similar situation? He seemed really ticked off and I hope he didn't report me or something.
This happened to me, I told them the truth, they said "Oh ok, we are just making sure they aren't stolen or anything" because I had traded in a few stacks of games that were never touched. They even commented on how that's some smart thinking.

I don't lie to the employees, the worst they can do is not accept my trade-in and I'll just go to a different store, but that's never happened yet. I bought all these games myself, the sole owner other than the store has been me, so I'm not going to lie when I'm not even in the wrong.

I ended up using the coupon on the other side, the additional 10% off any used games/accessories, and the guy at EB ended up giving me $10 off. I'm happy bout that, because I only picked up a used copy of COD2, which ended up costing me ~$22 in credit after More+coupon. It should have only netted me an additional $3 off, so I'll gladly take $10. :D

I'm in the process of playing a few games i dont think ill like so i can trade them in before the end of this promotion. With the next gen stuff coming out, im thinking it might not happen again too much in the future.

Dave Mirra Freestyle 2 is now on the things to trade list =]
*Edit* Add Celebrity Deathmatch as well

I got six more games to trade in today. MY Kmart restocked the $10 3-pack, so I think I will pick one of those up. I agree, we may not see another deal like this for awhile.

I went to EB yesterday & was going to trade in 3 games...I asked about the Victorious Boxer 2 if they have that for Pre-order...The girl had no idea what the game was & couldn't find it...So as she was ringing up the trade, i gave her my MORE card & she was like oh did you get the magazine for this month....There's a coupon where you can get an additional 20%...She then rips out the coupon & say here you go...I was like i thought these don't work with the 3 for 10 trade...I told them about my previous experiences at other stores where they wouldn't even accept my MORE card for the additional 10%...She said that was stupid & that they should allow to stack the coupons...I told ok, i'll just come back tomorrow as i got a lot more games to trade...

I'm going to go there today & unload all my games...Going to pre-order Final Fantasy XII CE...

Has anyone actually gotten their Game Informer this month yet, or are all the people getting the 30% bonus using the magazine in store?

Assuming you're talking about the issue with DMC 4 on the cover, than yes, I have received mine.
Assuming you're talking about the issue with DMC 4 on the cover, than yes, I have received mine.
Awesome. Just checked the label on my last issue, and my subscription expired last month. Even though my GI card expires this month. At least I shouldn't have any problem getting the coupon in store then.

crap... a gamestop I went to today had Powerdrome Racing (PS2) for $3.99 and X-Squad for $4.99. RIP little buddies....

Max Payne 2 was still $1.49 for both versions

I did this on 9/30/06, one week ago. I did the 10 bucks for 3 trades thing and stacked with my Gamestop card.

Shenmue 2 bawks 1.00 before 4.87 after
Sonic Adventure DX GCN 5.00 before 9.71 after
Crazy Taxi 3 bawks 2.00 before 6.08 after
Zelda Master Quest GCN 18.00 before 25.44 after (kinda wish I didn't trade this one in, though)
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball bawks 3.00 before 7.30 after
Onimusha Blade Warriors 3.00 before 7.30 after

60.70 total store credit. Used that, 77.85 credit, 61.10 credit, and 85.00 credit from various trades over the past year and got myself a bawks 360 for 123.41. Sweet.
crap... a gamestop I went to today had Powerdrome Racing (PS2) for $3.99 and X-Squad for $4.99. RIP little buddies....

Max Payne 2 was still $1.49 for both versions
Yea I picked up Powerdrome for $1.99. It depends whether the employees at the store you are at aren't too lazy to update the prices. Half of the Powerdromes were $1.99 the others were $3.99.

Flipped about 20 games today and I ended my day by buying 33 games which will equal at least $110 dollars in credit tomorrow. I love that I have 5 EB/GS in my area now.
Oh, I don't think they will ever get recalled and destroyed.
The stores do get notices from corporate to send back X numbers of Z games from time to time, when there's an over-abundance of titles within the stores. A number is kept for their warehouse/online stores, but there have been occasions when un-movable product was destroyed. Not often, but it does happen.

The worst that will happen to them is they will drop the sale price a bit more and end up losing a bit of credit on the trade value they gave you. But since that is credit that will come back to them anyway, they aren't losing too much.
Oh, no question about it. Especially condsidering MOST casual traders will use their credit toward a new, high priced game, play it and then trade it back to the store shortly... we all know the newer the (used) game, the more they sell for (usually, I'm not talking disagea, here). It's a good bidness for them.

But DAMN, girl, you got $29 for Rayman?? And just after I posted that I got $4 (well, $9 after bonuses actually) for one I also got from Kmart. Of course, I opened mine before hand
Well here's the thing. The manager is 1) an area manager so he's got a little leeway with what he does. 2) He's also the DMs manager of choice (in more ways than one, according to certain sources). and 3) trying to recruit me to help out over the Christmas season (I've been roped into helping out at another EB Christmas pasts), so it's possible he's being extra nice to gwen in a futile attempt to bribe me.

Also, y'all are all over this 30% thing making some sick credit off of $2 and $3 games (yes, I'm jealous!), but I flat out refuse to buy a subscription to GI. So my trade ins only get the EBedge 10% bonus (and the 3/10 while that's in effect).

So... I deserved a break. *giggles* No, people are always really nice to me. =D
Unforunately, there are no GR here. They didn't even have them in California when I lived in San Diego... are they only in the East Coast or something?
It's funny, I read this post and I really thought when I last visited my big bro out in Phoenix area, I stopped in a BBGR. I did a zipcode store locator seach on their site and - no stores. That's a shame. I hope they have them in Colorado, I'm hoping to move there.

LOL I traded in my FIFTH copy of the Clancy Trilogy tonight for yet ANOTHER $14.30 in credit(bringing my total back to OVER $100 on the Edge card.

Thing is, this was at a Gamestop, which now uses the credit card terminal as their POS unit(like EB's already did). I was shocked that they FINALLY went over to using the CARDS. All I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!!

Thanks to my new MicroSD SuperCard I was able to trade in my entire DS collection. Total credits came to $136.90 which included a pre-order for Gears of War. Not bad considering most of these games came from the Game Rush and CC clearances.

FIFA 06 DS - $4
Meteos DS - $7
Ultimate Spiderman DS - $4
15 + 10 = 25

Metroid Prime Hunters DS - $11
Tetris DS - $14
Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits DS - $2.50
27.50 + 10 = 37.50

New Super Mario Brothers DS - $17
Starfox DS - $20
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow DS - $15
52 +10 = 62 +20% = 74.40 preordered Gears of War

Why on earth would you trade in all of your DS games?
I did this on 9/30/06, one week ago.

Zelda Master Quest GCN 18.00 before 25.44 after (kinda wish I didn't trade this one in, though)
Trust me, almost everyone on this board wishes you hadn't traded it in as well...

Man some of you guys have traded in some real good games like Mario Kart: DD, Zelda: WW, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden Black...all for "low" prices. Don't you guys regret trading them in?

A few years back I used to trade impulsively as well during the PSone era. I could have had some true gems in my collection today like FF7-9, CC, MGS, all black label and non-GH. I've slowly rebuilt alot of it cheaply (albeit in GH form) and vowed never to trade in again (unless I purposely buy $2 games for fodder).

Do any of you guys regret it? It's easy to say "sure I'll never play those again," and trade them for $6-8 but it isn't easy to say that 3 years later when you want to really play them again.
here's why:

If you use that, you've crossed the line from being a CAG to a criminal.

Kendro - Most people only trade in the really cheap stuff. I only trade in PS2 games and at the most titles that have gone GH. Some of the more recent GH stuff can get you $7, about $10with the deal. Not bad for a GH title that's bound to go down in used price in the next couple of years.
