Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.
Man some of you guys have traded in some real good games like Mario Kart: DD, Zelda: WW, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden Black...all for "low" prices. Don't you guys regret trading them in?
With Nintendo, their games will be around for years to come in some form or another (note the Wii's downloadable games) so I'm not worried about it.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa wait...I can do the trade 3 for 10.00, 10% more card AND 30% bonus with the GI coupon towards Gears of War????
Yes, but it depends on the clerk to do it or not. Some will, some won't...

i just traded in $45(12 K-Mart games, 3 of mine) worth of stuff at Gamestop , preordered Zelda : TP with $5, and wound up with $114 credit.

I'm not sure exactly what happened there. It would be $95 after trade 3 bonus, $104.50 after 10%. It seems like i got 20% more from the $95 and a free preorder worth $5. Kinda weird. Ill most likely transfer the preorder to Guitar Hero 2 if i can.
Good news though, i got a co-branded EDGE card - no more paper slips, yay

Total Credit = $971

Turned 50 bucks of my credit into 78 today. I picked up Xbox music maker for 1.99 and they were gonna take it cept that it was too scratched up. It was gonna trade in for 50 cents, I asked the guy if he wanted it and he said nope so it just got binned. I sure as hell dont need it.

Credit now stands at 243.58

A few years back I used to trade impulsively as well during the PSone era. I could have had some true gems in my collection today like FF7-9, CC, MGS, all black label and non-GH. I've slowly rebuilt alot of it cheaply (albeit in GH form) and vowed never to trade in again (unless I purposely buy $2 games for fodder).

Do any of you guys regret it? It's easy to say "sure I'll never play those again," and trade them for $6-8 but it isn't easy to say that 3 years later when you want to really play them again.
I've only traded in really crappy games, or really cheap games I got at clearance. The only exception would probably be... Nintendogs, but I got about $15.00 for that, and bought it for around $25.00 at BB.

I regret trading in a lot of my stuff as well, I used to do it a lot back when I didn't know any better. I traded in my NES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Playstation, etc. The one I probably regret the most is my Genesis, as I had A LOT of complete/mint games, including some of my favorites: General Chaos, Mutant League Football/Hockey, etc.

in the last 3 days I turned $30 into $430......pre-ordered GoW, R6 Vegas and Splinter Cell DA and bought Just Cause and I still have $200 left in credit. Tomorrow I'm flipping at least 30 more games. I'm still undecided whether I'll spend it on a Wii or save it for more 360 games.

Reading shit like that angers me...mainly because I can't get away with it.

Gamestop to Gamestop to EB to EB to Gamestop etc......
I also have a B2G1 deal in my area only going on, which sweetens the deal. I empty stores out of as many 3.99 games and below that I can find and bring them to a different store. Tomorrow I'm going out of town with a big haul of games. I am going to attempt to obtain 50 games tomorrow at one store and flip them at a Gamestop out of the area. The trade 3 get $10 deal is over next week so I have to abuse it while I can.

Congrats on this flipping. I wish I could do that. I dont feel bad for GS/EB because they make too damn much money anyways seeing how a lot of their used game prices are rediculous.
Reading shit like that angers me...mainly because I can't get away with it.
Reading that scares me, I personally witnessed someone getting blacklisted while I was waiting in line about 8 months ago. He traded in the exact same games about 5 or 6 times, and the last time the DM was actually in the store, and made a huge scene out of it and told him never to try trading in the area again. Im not sure if he was flipping or which games, but id assume that was the case. Now if im going to flip, I try to take games from one district to another, or at least not do it more than 3 times with a single game.

Crappy thing is im in the market for a 360 and have a ton of clearance games to trade in, and id love to mix in a ton of flipped games. Not sure if I should try it because I did it already at the beginning of this event with probably about 15-20 games.

I get enough credit legitimately thru clearance games, thats its not worth the risk of banning to flip from Gamestop to Gamestop. If you can get away with it, thats cool but what that DM did was reasonable. You are basically siphoning money away from Gamestop - using their own deals but taking away from the store's bottom line nonetheless.

Well I'm pretty sure these guys have caught on to what I am doing....but they just laugh everytime they see me come in with a ton of games, even when they say stuff like "I know you traded this in yesterday". Tomorrow though, I'm taking a BIG haul to a different district.
I don't feel that this is morally wrong. Sure I'm taking money from GS, but isn't GS the man? So I'm sticking it to the man!

If only I had this week off work I would go for $1000 in trade in credit!

What did the guy say? I would of said "fuck you. I'll just have someone else trade the stuff in for me. You can't stop me, mauhahaha!" Or I'd curl up in the fetal position, and cry myself to sleep. Who knows? :D

By flipping games, do you mean buying from Gamestop and then trading in to gamestop? If so, how do you make any money that way? All the shit my GS has costs to much to try and sell back even with the promo. I can't find like $1 games.

The guy didnt say anything. Ive actually talked to the manager a few times, hes a nice guy and will let you get away with some stuff, but he said he got the same exact trade ins from some other people also. I mean, not like its impossible to trade in once youve been banned, but he didnt seem to care if it was obvious or not. :)

So Gamestop to Gamestop is bad? What about those clearance K-mart, Sears, Toysrus, etc...

So what happens when you get banned, i mean what happens to all the credit you have in your card?

So after hearing on CAG about all the Gamestops now taking Edge cards I figured I'd give the closest store to me, which is actually a Gamestop, a shot. They said they started taking them TWO days ago! So I went out there and gave it a test run with 6 games - worked just fine. They put my credit onto my old Edge card, scanned for the 10%, etc, no problem. The guy even seemed to give me a little extra credit some how (I had $16 base credit + $20 bonus, and with the 10% that should have been $39.60, but I got $40.59).

This is great, though, because it adds a store that I can trade and shop at which is MUCH closer to me than any of the EB's I had been going to before. I probably won't trade much any more, but now I have a place where I can spend my credit that is convenient (as opposed to fighting traffic to get to the EBs).

Not much new in the way of trade-in prices:

GC Midway Arcade Treasures 2 still $3 (last Wiki quote was from July).
One wierd one - Simpson's Road Rage for Xbox is UP $1 to $4 from just Oct 3rd! WTF?? I had a bunch of those a few weeks back (for which I got $3) and only had one left .

The only reason it works for me is because i get a B2G1 promo going on right now too in my district. I combine both and pay about $15 for 6 games and walk away with around $30.

so...today i found out they can void your credit even AFTER the transaction is complete and you are given back your card. Apparently all they have to do is rescan the receipt and put it as VOID and the credit is off of your card without even needing to scan it...sounds a little scary.

Curious... And HOW did you find this out?
Curious... And HOW did you find this out?
well they screwed up on my tradeins, so they redid them and put the credit on another card, commenting that my original was "voided" even though it was a gameinformer card. I just thought they forgot to rescan it to take off the credit and that i had made some extra money, then at my next EB it turns out that the credit had disappeared (i already had credit on there to begin with, that credit was untouched)... meaning they took it off without even touching the card.

^^^^ Ah, OK, I was thinking there was a banning and credit void issue there :D. Probably they can void transactions that are still in the register for the day - they were messing around with such things last time I was in there. I would hope that they couldn't do this so easily the next day or later though.

I used to get excited about these trade-in deals. Hell, i'm still excited about this one.. but I won't participate. Why? I mean, c'mon. Some of you guys are accepting $2 for great games like Wind Waker. GTA3 for a dollar. Viewtiful Joe 2 for $1.50. Give me a break. I'd much rather pay $60 than lose 10-15 good games.

But I'm still jealous of you guys that are racking up over $900 doing this deal. I feel dirty if I go to EB/GS now.

Since you guys are selling your shit so low, if you wanna sell any of your XBox (complete) games to me for $1 or $2, i'll be more than happy to oblige.

True enough, I've traded a Viewtiful Joe and a Metroid Prime, but they weren't MY copies - they were obtained via credit at the GR clearance or at Kmart or the like :D. I'd never trade my play copies of those games. Also note that no one is selling ANY games to EB/GS for $1 or $2 - the minimum with the trade-in deal is $4.33 ($4.76 with Edge card).

Eh...depends on what you sell. Most of the games I've been trading in have netted me only a little less than I paid for them originally. Don't think I'd trade in WW (if I had a Gamecube, that is), and I like GTA enough to keep those around, but some games I just know I'm never going to play again. And if I got a deal when I bought it, then it's not a bad transaction.

For example, I bought Gun a couple weeks ago at target for $10. It was a lot of fun, but a little short and I feel like I did everything in the game. According to the CAG Wiki, it trades for $5. By the time I add the 10% and the extra cash for trading in 3 at once, playing the game's only going to cost me a couple bucks. Plus I get to use that money toward another game. And I get 10% off the purchase price to boot.

Or another example: I know I'm never gonna play Kingdom Hearts again. I bought it new for $20 a couple years ago. I traded it in to EB for $8 + 10% form the Edge card + the $3.33 (its share of the get an extra $10 trade in credit). Grand total...$12.13. I had the game for 2 years and it basically cost me $8. That's not much more than a rental and I had forever to play it.

My point is, itr CAN be a good deal if you bought your games cheap to begin with.

I have flipped quite a bit over the last few months. Lately; I have been buying up the Kmart 3-packs. I have 7 EB/GS to trade into. Should I carry some glitter or wear boots, in case I get blacklisted?

Will they consider the $10 Kmart 3-pack sport games? It's bowling, fishing and something like that. I don't want to get stuck with those useless games if they refuse the $10 bonus.

Yeah those would probaly be considered sports games. My EB wouldn't take generic racing games as part of the deal.

I'd personally "GLITTER BITCH!!!" If you knock over the magazines, they'll just leave them there.
I hate how they get like 700% profit on these used games.
I hate how people assume that they are instantly turning around and reselling every used game they buy instead of what really happens more often- games sitting around through more and more price drops and some even being sold at a loss.

Today I finally traded in 3 games:

Tales of Symphonia (GC) $10 (Up from $8 last week)
Indigo Prophecy (XB)$5
Asphalt: Urban GT (DS) $2 (This is clearanced at Target for 2.48)

Total Credit with the 3/10 promo and 10% edge: $29.xx

I traded in 9 games today. No idea what they're worth individuallly or exactly how much I got total. Seriously. I knew they had to be at least 4.76 each so when he said "43 bucks on the card" it sounded right. He ran my EB card through to put the credit on, gave it back, and that was it. No receipt (except the slip I signed and gave back to him). Figuring it out now based on the Wiki, I should have gotten $45.40. I traded in (all Xbox but the last):

3x Mechassault 2 ($2)
2x LotR: 3rd Age ($2)
2x NFL Street 2 (listed as $3 in the wiki from July but I'm sure it's $1 by now)
1x World Championship Poker ($1)
1x Winne the Pooh Rumbly Tumbly Adventure ($1)

$14+10%=$15.40 + $30 bonus = $45.40. But he said "43 bucks."

If LotR dropped to $1 that would make it $43.20, so I guess it's safe to say that's what happened. I have no real evidence proof though. I guess there's no way to check credit balance online?

Would I be able to trade in my PS2 and PSP + games and accesories and recive 30% extra and 10% extra, or does it specifiacally exclude console trade ins. Because that would net me close to $400.

excludes console trades...

FYI, the trade value of the PSP is down to $60

They're supposed to give you a receipt when you trade in games, the receipt is an almost exact replica of the one that you sign for them, except for the fact that yours won't have a signature section. I never leave those stores with-out a receipt, too many previous issues... (Like walking out of a store with only game cases, because the clerk forgot to put them in the case...)

They wouldn't give me the 30% extra on top of the trade 3 get $10 and 10% EDGE card. Is there any fine print that says promotions shouldn't be combined or does anybody think I can call corporate and ask for the extra 30%?

Anyway, here's what I traded in. I pretty much got what I paid for the games originally:

PS2
Kingdom Hearts 2 - $15
Castlevania Curse of Darkness - $7
Siren - $2
Midnight Club Street Racing - $1
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - $4
Time Splitters Future Perfect - $4
Killzone - $5

GC
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - $4
Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble - $4
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
F-Zero GX - $1.50
Burnout 2 - $9
Monopoly Party - $8
I-Ninja - $3tar Wars: Clone Wars - $7
Baten Kaitos - $7
Ribbit King - $2.50
R: Racing Evolution - $1.50

My total was $160.58.
Yes, in fact the fine print says they CANNOT be combined, but many people have been able to and it is worth a shot - but I don't think corporate will help you out there. What corporate will help with are those stores which do not allow Edge with the $10 deal - as that is not combining two promos, but doing one promo along with the standard membership benefit you paid for.

I don't have the text for the GI 30% offer, but, from the web site, here's the fine print for the 20% one that anyone can get (don't need the coupon):
Trade any games towards the reservation or purchase of the following 3 games and receive an extra 20% trade credit. Gears of War (XB360), Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCUBE, WII), and Final Fantasy XII (PS2).

*Offer expires 10/15/06. Offer not good on cash trades. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Cannot be combined with any other offer. Trade-ins subject to manager approval. See store associate for details. No dealers.

Went to a GS out of my district today to drop off 42 flipped games, and the manager was mad because the guy in front of me had just dropped off about 70 some games. I think he knew I was flipping the games because he was asking me stupid questions and tried to deny me the full amount of credit I should get. First time I've EVER seen them check the discs twice to make sure there's no refurbishing fees. This guy wanted to give me an extra $10 for the first 3 games and stop it at that. I told him to call the district manager and discover that there's no limit on the games. He wasn't too happy about it and just gave me a hard time.
I now have $300 in credit + GoW, SC DA, and R6 Vegas paid off and I picked up Just Cause. I have enough credit for a Wii after 3 days off flipping.....
I'm really not sure on when to call it quits though......I mean this deal is just too good to be true.....should I keep going or realize that it is time to call it quits......I don't know......its just so tempting to keep on flipping these games and making more and more credit.....
Don't get greedy, you have more than enough. You don't want to get banned.
Yeah, well, it all ends this Sunday anyway . But you are right Yukine, what Wolve is doing is pretty risky (taking games from the same chain and flipping). I'd stop now and be happy with your gains.

I only have 3 games left to trade right now, but I'm tempted to make another Kmart run. Unlike Wolve's strategy that still means money out of my pocket (and less risk of banning since I'm actually adding value to GS's used game stock), but with all the things I will be buying soon I can use the credit for sure (Wii + Wiimotes + Component cable :bomb: + games + a PS3 eventually, etc).
