I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.

Traded in the following today (10/11):
Rainbow Six 3 (XB) ---------------- $1
Splinter Cell (XB) ------------------ $1
Ghost Recon (XB) ----------------- $1
Simpsons Road Rage (XB) ------- $4
Lord of the Rings: 3rd Age (XB) - $2
Lord of the Rings: RotK (PS2) --- $3
Lord of the Rings: RotK (XB) ---- $1.50
Mercenaries (XB) ------------------ $4
Enter the Matrix (PS2) ------------ $1

Total COST at Kmart (after 7% tax) = $19.26

Total CREDIT at EB games after 3/$10 deal, 30% Pre-order GI coupon, 10% edge = $67.93. (3.5 times what I paid include tax!)

(I didn't quite get 30% - not sure how he did the math - but ended up with 27% by my calculations. That's OK, the guy was really cool and helpful and let me stack the 30% GI coupon with the 3 for $10)

EDIT - Also, a BIG THANK YOU to all the CAG wiki editors... having that updated with the latest trade in values takes a lot of the uncertainty out of these deals. And thanks to the OP for the EB/Gamestop information!

I traded around 40 games today, I didn't get a receipt on how much the trade in values were but I got enough to reserve a Wii on Friday, I have LoZ TP paid for in full, and about half of Excite Truck paid off from the credit I got today.
Will they accept NBA street 1 as part of the 3 for 10 extra?
I think every store is different. My store did not take NBA street 1 or 2.
To be honest, Silent Hill 3 isn't that rare. You can still buy new copies at Konami's site for $20.
And ZOE2 is getting reprinted.
Funny thing with Silent Hill in my area. The EBs used to have dozens of SH2s, but since the movie they seem to have none.
hmm ZOE2 for $14 -> $19 after bonus? I might have to play that this week and trade it in...
Haha, I was thinking the same exact thing.

MoH: European Assault (GC) - $8
Batman Begins (GC) - $7
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath (XBX) - $5

the top two were $5 at target a few weeks ago at 75% off.

I have a feeling if I actually had time to study the wiki and do some damage, I would have been a trade-in supastar. I guess you can't win them all :D

Traded in last 3 games.

Turok: Evolution(XbX) $1.00==>$4.87
Time Splitter 2(GC) $2.00==>$6.08
NBA Street(1)(PS2)$1.00==>$4.88
GC Memory(251)$6==>$6.60
GCmemory(59) $3==>$3.30

Total in all of trade-in for the Promo==>$328.25:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I traded in some stuff today. As the manager was doing the trade, I asked how long did it take to sell out of PS3's. He said 35 minutes. I asked if people were there when he came into work. Which he responded with yes. I asked how many PS3's they presold. He said that he can't release the info. I laughed and said it was either 8 or 16. He said, "What does it matter to you?". I said it doesn't. I was just curious. He stated, "Well it doesn't really pretain to you then, does it?". I said, "I guess not." End of conversation. All I was doing was making small talk. It is not like I wanted a PS3 (to expensive) or anything. So, I figure I have 3 more days to exploit this deal. And exploit I will, for spite and for me.

i wish i could flip games... but unfortunately, there's only one eb/gs store here... the next one's over 50 miles away, and there for, not worth it, especially to risk gettin' banned. but anyone got other ideas to build up credit on cheap? besides buying cheap from other stores? there ain't nothin' here but a wal-mart, a hastings, and the ebgames.

This might seem like a dumb question but here goes. When you use your EDGE/MORE Card credit to buy games instore, is there a record of the games you purchase/trade in when you use it at that store or other stores that you use it in? Just curious and thanks in advance to anyone with info.
Do they save what games you trade-in and buy with your EDGE card? I want to flip games between stores
I think they have ways of knowing, otherwise people wouldn't get banned. Probably depends on how vigilant a DM is.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but the thread is too long to sift through at this time. I've got a couple questions; thanks in advance:

1. Is it possible to stack the "power trade offer," "extra $10 when you trade in 3 games," and the edge card at the same time? Or will they just give you whatever promo gives you the most?

2. Does the extra $10 offer work with 360 games too?

nope, and nope. it's been ymmv if your store will give you all the discount's, but if you're going by what it is normally, they give you the extra $10 and let you use your edge card, or the other offer. not both

unfortunately, it doesn't work w/ 360 games.

and honestly, you CAN get all that info if you read the first post, and probably some of the last pages. 10 minutes

After reading some of this thread, it finally dawned on me why every Kmart, Target, Sears, CC, and TRU in my area is devoid of any cheap new clearance games. Apparently people snap up all the good deals in large quantities and trade them in to EB/GS for credit for newer games or PS3s/Wiis. People like me who want to keep the old games to play rather than flip are out of luck.

Logically you'd think EB/GS would be flooded with so many of these clearance games that EB/GS would lower the prices on them, so I ought to be able to find a bunch of cheap games like Namco Museum for PS2? But that doesn't seem to be the case. Most used games are still in the $7-$15 range, even ones a couple years old, and my used price threshold is usually < $6.

Since I've learned I can't compete with all the other people who buy cheap clearance games at local stores to flip them, it seems my only alternative to buy them from EB/GS after they've been flipped. Does anyone know if or when EB/GS will lower the prices on these games or will they keep the prices high regardless of quantity on the shelves? In other words, should I be going to EB/GS frequently during this sale or should I wait a while for the prices to drop?

I don't have any games I want to trade-in, so I won't be using this deal. My worry is that EB/GS is going to learn a lesson from this, and since they can't keep people from buying games like Max Payne 2 + 2 other games for $1-$2 each and trading them back in for $13 in credit, they probably will decide not to offer this deal again. When I've finally played some of my games and want to trade them in, I'm afraid there won't be any more deals like this.

Geeze... If you want the games ASK! There is a forum to do so and I have seen PLENTY of people actually OFFERING to hook people up with games they have found cheap for little or no profit (asking for shipping only). Heck, I bet there were some in this thread too.

You can start by having a want list...Not all CAG's are hoarders, before i traded all my games i had them up for trade/sale for almost 2 months now...No one wanted them so i traded them in...

I feel your pain though, i really wanted Taiko Drum Master for long time & then i finally gave it up for Mario Power Tennis...I didn't want to give it up but i needed it badly...Then some fellow CAG just hook me up with Mario Power Tennis for only $10...So its all good now...

Ubichu.....

Honestly, sometimes you have to scour the Kmart cases to find the games. They're not just going to be out on the counter, waiting to be bought.

Hell, one of my local Kmarts has games from the prior list still in stock(but coming up price required), so there are still chances to buy them out there.

Believe me, I was like you at first, when I couldn't find ANY cheap games, but now I'm finding more and more lately.

So, it just takes a little time and patience.

You really have to look around if you want to score on clearance sales. And depending on the clearance price sometimes it's not worth trading on this site, since there's shipping to consider.

EB might still run a similar deal around/after christmas to restock. That's what they usually do. If I remember correctly the 2 for $10 was during January or February of 2005. Isn't trade 3 for extra $10 pretty much the norm?

This is not the first time that they offered this deal...and currently they had extended it. You need to stay on top of clearance deals...like everybody else does...and when stores are sold out fast of the clearance games its not usually because somebody is trading them in...its because they are reselling on ebay...

The last were trade 3 get $10, previous to that there was a trade 4 get $10. Trade 2 get $10 would be amazing - I dont remember seeing that , but then again I never used to trade anything in. They will need to restock after the holidays, but I dont know if its going to be that severe with all the next gen stuff coming out.

Why can't you compete? You can get out there like everyone else on CAG and find the same games. I've gone back to the same Kmarts over and over across several weeks and I always find *something* from the clearance. You might not find a specific clearance game, but chances are there's something buried in those stacks. It could also be that the specific stores you go to remove the games when they go on clearance or tag them correctly and put them out (so they disappear in a day). My Target, right now, has several $5 games. They aren't worth flipping, and they've been there for a while. Sure, they are TAGGED $9.98, but if you scan them they come up $4.98. If you read CAG a few minutes every day they you can figure out which games are on sale and get in on these deals. If your "price point" is less than $6, as you say, then you need to do a bit of work to get games that cheaply.

But don't assume it is flipping from this specific EB deal that is causing all these games to disappear near you. For one, they may never have been there in the first place. And secondly, there are plenty of people who buy them for themselves, for friends, for presents, or even for eBay. They certainly aren't all ending up at EB. The reason we use these games is that, for the most part, they are NOT highly desired by anyone on CAG - thus they are good to use for trade-ins.

And as someone else said, just ASK if there's a game you want - ask in the Kmart thread if it is a Kmart clearance game. More than likely, someone will hook you up.

Oh, by the way, Metroid Prime is down to a pathetic $1 today. Also, I got a quote of $8 for DragonBall Z Budokai 2 for GC - so the person who said they got $2.50 for that either made a typo or got screwed :D.

I guess I need to do more exploring on CAG to find the trade forums and learn how they work. I have enough trouble keeping up with this forum. I'd have to pay cash + shipping as I have no games to trade.

Thanks for the advice on clearance games. I have trouble competing because I don't have a lot of time outside of work. 1 day a week I can run 2 hours of errands, and when I do it's usually to buy non-game stuff at Best Buy, Comp USA, Staples, or Fry's rather than Kmart, Sears, Target, or TRU which are out of my way. I've gone through every game and display at Kmart, Sears, Target, and TRU and come up empty-handed each time. When games are under $4, I'm pretty tolerant and will often blind buy unless I know it's bad. Basically, the stores are always wiped out of the cheap good stuff whenever I go, so I don't try very often. It takes me a lot longer than 5 minutes to check each clearance thread for updates at CAG, so I only do it once or twice a week. Usually by the time I look I've already missed the next Kmart markdown. Yes, I know it's my fault, but then I pass the blame onto work. If I didn't work I'd have time to pursue the deals, but then I wouldn't have money to buy stuff.

And honestly (I posted about this in the Kmart thread) each time I went to Kmart or called about clearance games, I got the same story that every time they do a PLU the same guy comes in the next day and wipes them out. From reading the Kmart thread I never figured out how to know in advance when the next PLU is going to hit. Usually by the time I see the news, it's after the fact, and I call up Kmart and they tell me the same guy already cleaned them out. Since I learned to call, at least I don't waste time driving there now.

Anyway, I'll stop my whining. I realize it's nobody's fault, and the fact I have to work and don't have time to keep up on clearance sales is not a good excuse at CAG. I wish I could afford to quit my job and be a full time gamer. Perhaps going into the trading forums here and posting what I want would be best.

I'm always amazed that so many people post they have good luck going back to their stores every month. I think it must be my area and this local guy who I've nicknamed the "Kmart Kleaner".

He had replied and said it was a typo. He meant the original Budokai was $2.50.

D'oh! I'm usually pretty thorough reading through these things but must have lost a day there due to all the PS3 hype. I thought he just never responded. Had I known that I would have brought the damn game to trade in with me tonight. Watch it drop to $2 tomorrow :D.

I think very few people here are "full-time gamers", whatever that means. I work, and I have 3 kids who all do a variety of after-school activities (so I'm usually watching one or two while the others are off with Mom). I have a flexible work schedule so I can juggle all these things and spend a fair amount of time on CAG and searching for deals. But I have to squeeze it around everything else - but, really, it's all just a matter of what you make time for. I tend to watch little to no TV as a result (I watch Adult Swim while I'm on CAG and working late at night, that's about it).
I've gone back to the same Kmarts over and over across several weeks and I always find *something* from the clearance.
This has been my experience too. Over the course of 3 weeks, I have been back to the "good" Kmarts multiple times - picking up 1-5 games each time. Sometimes to pick up additional copies that I left there, sometimes to look for games that I hadn't thought of or that were ringing up more than the clearence price, or games with recent price drops.
It could also be that the specific stores you go to remove the games when they go on clearance or tag them correctly and put them out (so they disappear in a day).
I find the more organized the Kmart, the less chance of finding clearance games. I have been to 3 or 4 Kmarts that have a relatively organized game display (everything with spines facing out) and clearance games pulled out and displayed elsewhere with correct prices. These are the "bad" Kmart (as far as clearence games are concerned - good for a pleasant shopping experience otherwise though). Clearence games don't last long at these Kmarts and it's not really worth me going back to look again.

And don't go by what the employees say. 90% of the time they have no idea what is on clearence or what the price is. At one of my "good" Kmarts, the electronics guy told me that some woman came in a month or two ago and cleared them out - bought a 100 games. Well obviously, she must have become independent wealthy from selling those games because she certainly hasn't been back to that Kmart in the last month. I keep finding $2-$4 games there.

But it does take time to be successful at it - keeping up with the forums and going back to stores, sifting through their locked display cases. But I treat it as a hobby - it can be fun (when you have success).

But there are hoarders too - just not too much at Kmart because the games are older and its more difficult to find them. I remember when the Circuit City $8.96 sale was leaked - I went to CC to pick up some the first day at lunch time. I was going through the DS games and picked a few. A guy came in with a hand basket and started to fill it up with any game he could find from his list. He and I chatted - I found something for him - he returned the favor - but I bought maybe 2 or 3 games - he had at least 20 DS & GBA games.

i think this is my last run...unless i stumble upon a hoard of dirt cheap (less then $2) games somewhere;)

i will list what i think is not on the Wiki yet

GC
Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines $7
Black and Bruised $1.50
Mark Davis Pro Bass $6.00
Egg Mania $3

xbox
Seaworld $4
Atari Anthology $3

Xbox 360
Headset $4

the rest i traded got the same as listed in the wiki so total traded with this deal over the past month is about $500 in which i would say i spent about $200 for everything :D

oh yea...they also said i could preorder the Microsoft Zune...I didnt even know what he was talking about...lol im looking it up now though

Yeh the Zune is Microsofts "answer" to the Ipod. Has video/music playback and it'll be sold in Gamestops (and other electronic retailers). Didn't know they were doing pre-orders though.

Picked up 6 games from GameCrazy for $21.60 and flipped them to GameStop for $34 after $20 extra + 10% more + 20% preorder toward FFXII. Only put $5 to FF and used the rest to buy a GameCube controller.

the clerk at my store told me that the 30% towards a reserve is only whatever amount you put TOWARDS the game... so say i get $10, if i put $5 for the reserve, that $5 is 30% more... is that how it's supposed to be? or is it supposed to be for the whole amount? guy probably gipped me out $7 more

Supposed to be whole amount of your trade in as long as it goes towards your deposit on select list of games including Zelda:TP, FFXII.

Been to two gamestops in my area that have given me the 30% on my total trade in value not just what I put down. You could always say put it all towards the game so he can't say it's just what on you put down since you're putting everything down but then you may not be able to move the cred around later. I'd prob call back and talk to a manager.

Trade in Values:

Xbox
Silent Hill 4 - $8
Shark Tale - $5
NBA Ballers Phenom - $5
Pac Man World 3 - $4

PS2
Suikoden Tactics - $8
Evil Dead Regeneration - $5
Demon Stone - $4

PSP
Splinter Cell Essentials - $12
Twisted Metal Head On - $6
NBA 06 - $8

As I related a couple days ago, they didn't give me the 30% on any games in my trade transaction. Went in today, he knew he had screwed it up as apparently it had come up with a conversation with the manager yesterday. But I'll have to wait until after my hopeful preorder tomorrow to get it taken care of by the manager.

exactly. i didn't do it on gears of war 'cause i wasn't sure if i could get my reserve credit back. figured not to ask 'cause how bad does it sound to have that conversation of $5 or all my trade in credit, then ask, "if i don't want it, can i get my credit back?":D

lol

it's like asking if the $1-$3 games they have qualify for the trade 3 deal, right before buying them

Well, I got about 12 more games to trade in. Since Labor Day, I have amassed $250 in credit, bought a DS Lite, NHL2K7, PGR3, Test Drive Unlimited, Gears of War, a 360 headset and I think 7 dvd's. I spent a total of about $75 out of pocket. Not bad!!!

We got the new marketing kit in today, the trade promo is ending so if you are holding out on some trades, NOW IS THE TIME TO TRADE!!

On another note, if you have a console to trade in, wait until the 16th and you'll get another $20 on the trade. I'll update the OP tomorrow night with the new promos.

Just to be clear, the trade promo is ending the 15th, right? Meaning you can get the extra $10 up to and including the 15th (which is Sunday). I may trade in most of my games tomorrow with the Wii preorder if there really is a 30% bonus for trade-ins then (why they'd want to deal with trades at the same time as all the preorders I don't know but I'll bring 6 games just in case).

Then I just have a couple of World Champ Pokers left after that :D. I need to find things to go with those with to trade in though - probably just use even-value filler from GR and local BB stores.

Not a bad hall, I just wish there was a way to be there tomorrow morning to preorder a wii.... stupid job.

I'm not sure what the fuck happened today.

Splinter Cell - $1
Ghost Recon - $1
Rainbox Six 3 - $1
Max Payne 2 - $0.50
Charlie & Chocolate Factory - $4
Pinball Hall of Fame - $2.50
Medal of Honor: EA - $8
Mark Davis Bass Fishing - $3
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow - $7
Monster Hunter - $9
Batman Begins - $7
SSX On Tour - $6

Total = $50 plus $40 plus whatever I can stack, right?

First time through, guy is cool with the stacking. Gives me a total quoted of $102.30. Preordered FFXI CE for $63.89, left with $38.41. I noticed the receipt said GMR discount of of $9.30, so by my math it was $53 plus $40 plus the 10% on both.

Hold the phone. Noticed there was no 20% to be found on the receipt. Guy says "Shit, I thought it would be automatic". He can't figure out how to do it, so he manually adjusts prices. The problem is that he is taking 20% of the games value and adding it on the 3 for $10 bonus. For example, Splinter Cell looks like:

$4.62
$1.00 trade-in
$3.20 bonus
$.42 GMR 10%

But now my total is $107.53, minus $63.89 for FFXI = $43.64 leftover. I'm having some math issues here, and without the original receipt I can't find the discrepancies. THe total trade-in value dropped from $53 to $50, which I guess means he put in a game earlier on a different system that has a higher value. But even at 20% of $50, I should have had an extra 10 bucks, not the 5 something it appears. I was hoping for the $93 plus 20% plus 10%, but since he didnt know how it didnt work like that.

Yes, it ends on the 15th.

At least he trys to stack for you... Most won't do it because they aren't supposed to. Lots of lucky people on here getting deals stacked.
