Man, I blink for one second and am already outbid on the few items I bid on. The good thing is that I am winning the test item and Kirby Squeak Squad. With my luck however I will be sniped in the last second like in every other lowball auction I've ever been in.
looks like i got outbid on kirby oh well.
oh man, I didn't know it was you who had the previous bid
sorry about that

blumpies, that may very well be the best avatar that I've ever seen. Love it.

For the record the sale is supposed to end Saturday night not Friday night. Looks like my counter got confused. I have to reprogram it. The next sale will hopefully auto-stop accepting bids once it's over. Then I will have to work on having different ending times for items (so I can have rolling end times or multiple auctions simultaneously). History in the making folks ^_^

I think it's still going on because it will still let you make bids. Also sorry sbarbermisier on outbidding you, needed to test if it was still accepting bids

blumpies5 is correct. I have fixed it to show the ending time properly now. It should show up as:

0 days,
20 hours, 11 minutes, and 45 seconds
until the end of our latest Lowball Sale!

[Ending time is 11:59:99 EST 05/02/2009] - Automatic timer is based on your computer therefore not 100% accurate

Keep in mind that the auction is set to EST (Eastern Standard Time), while the timer goes by whatever your computer is set to. So yes, the sale ends at 11:59:99 tonight. The next auction will automatically shut off bids, this time around I will have to do it manually. I'm working fast :) My last day at my current job is Tuesday and then I will no longer have to work nights (which means I'll have more programming time in theory). Wish me luck. Thanks guys!

Honestly, I'm surprised Dissidia isn't higher than it is. A Rare Japanese import fighting game that features an all-star cast of Final Fantasy characters from Square-Enix? I paid around $40+ for it and the game is MINT. Surely someone wants it :(

Great news, I was able to put in a bid-tracking system now. I will have records of each and every bid along with a date and time stamp (that is set to the server, not to the individual computers). Meaning I can verify the ending time of the auctions in case there is any question to whether or not a person was the highest bidder at the end of the auction. Here is an example of this output. Right now it will not be posted on the site publicly, but I hope to have bid history visible to all viewers within the next week (in time for the next sale). Thanks guys! Making progress one step at a time ^_^

Here's the sample:
Bid History for Lowball Auctions:

Auction Ending 05/02/2009:

13 - goomba478 - $15.50 :: 02/05/09 : 03:17:35
13 - goomba478 - $66.50 :: 02/05/09 : 03:18:15

Good afternoon guys. Remember the SALE ENDS TONIGHT AT 11:59:99 EST (right before midnight). I will be using the new bid verification system I have put into place to verify time stamps, so any last second bidders beware.

Here is what the new system looks like. I modified it even more today to include the item names, and the seconds for the bids. The timestamps are currently not showing daylight savings (I'm going to fix that right now):

Bid History for Lowball Auctions:

Auction Ending 05/02/2009:

Test Item [13] - goomba478 - $620.00 02/05/09 : 11:46:19
Test Item [13] - goomba478 - $717.00 02/05/09 : 11:47:32

I figured it out ^_^

The time clock on the main auction page for the lowballs is now 100% accurate. It is set to the timer on the server (which again is EST) but now it will reflect the actual time no matter what time zone you are in (good for dv8mad and those of you who are in other countries). Here is what it will look like:

Today's date May 2, 2009, 3:24 pm
Countdown date May 3, 2009, 12:00 am
Countdown 0 days 8 hours 35 minutes left

It is no longer animated, like the one I had with Javascript, but it will update upon refreshing and reloading, so every time you go to the site there will be no question about how much longer the auction is going for.

The next step: Make the auction automatically stop accepting bids once the auction date's end is reached (wish me luck on that one).

Can someone confirm that the time shown is the correct time on the main page?

http://lowball.gamesforcanada.com

it should show:

Today's Date: May 2, 2009 - 5:25 pm EST
Auction Ends: May 3, 2009 - 12:00 am EST

Countdown: 0 days 6 hours 34 minutes left

------------
Please check to make sure the time it shows is accurate for midnight tonight. Thanks! I will be setting this timer to make it so bids are not accepted after midnight. Hopefully it'll work. Time is ticking for me as I have to leave for work in only two hours. Yikes!

Okay guys I'm going to work now. It SHOULD work like this:

at midnight tonight (11:59:99) it SHOULD remove the links for bidding. The main page should still show the items properly but the bid links, bid buttons and all that will vanish.

I will also be using the official timestamps for verification in case something gets mucked up, but you will know the winners tomorrow. PLEASE bid on the items if you see something you like. I really need the money right now :) Thanks guys!

Remember, if you experience any problems or have any ideas how to improve this system let me know. I will be opening this up to the public in about two weeks (so you can list your own items). ^_^ THANKS!

Well, it didn't and there's still bids being made after the time limit.

ah man, I lost the two games I thought no one would bid on and won the game I thought I would lose, go figure.
Oh well, at least I got something
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

i won Kirby
That two Kirby games down one to go
So YOUR the one who outbid
Well, you better enjoy that game twice as much now for my sake
I completely forgot that the auction was going to end tonight
I blame Pacquio for not ending that round sooner then the second round

well I meant to put in 13 in phoenix wright but accidently typed an extra 3 in... so yeah...

Also the others i bid on are ones i actualy want
yeah i bid later as a joke... i know there not going to count at least Ill win okami
That's bullshit to bid later and try to mess with a new system that's trying to get started up. He should hold you to your "joke" bids.

There's a lot of bugs still so to fuck with it is ridiculous.

Yeah, I don't really appreciate you messing with the system just do so man. That's pretty crappy. I mean, granted I realize the system isn't perfect yet (I stated this was pretty much a trial run which is why I didn't list a ton of items this time around) but still... Please don't do that in the future. I will of course be tightening down my system as to not allow bids after the time (as it is I had it auto-disable the links, but obviously if you had the pages open or bookmarked them or whatever it'd still let you through). I would have finished the programming, but I had to work tonight and didn't get to. My wife was mad that I spent almost 5 hours today working on it as is.

:(

For all those who bid and won items in my Lowball 2.0 auction, I will be contacting you in the next couple of days with payment info and totals. I will be out of the state today (Sunday) so bear with me ^_^ May take me a day or two to get to you. I won't forget don't worry :)

Okay here's the deal guys. It will be another day or so before I get it all worked out about who owes what and such, but just hang in there. Here are a list of the bids after I got the log system up and running. Keep in mind all bids after 12:00 will not be accepted (I will reflect this on the actual website tomorrow after work):

Okay guys, I'm back in Connecticut now. I will be working my first day in the poker room tomorrow at the new casino (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) and when I get home tomorrow night I will update the page to show the respective winners and will add payment info. Thanks again! You can look forward to a bigger, better sale this upcoming week as well ^_~

I work at Mohegan Sun as of tomorrow. I was working for Foxwoods Resort Casino for the last 5 years and I'm switching sides. It's nothing really against Foxwoods, it was fun while it lasted there, but I think I have more potential to make more money at Mohegan and it'll work better with my schedule. It's also closer to my home ^_^
