Wal-Mart 360 Mistake! Black Controllers & Batteries on Clearance YMMV

I stopped into my local Wal-Mart last night and they had half an aisle in electronics with clearance items. To my surprise they had a peg with black xbox360 wireless controllers and another with black rechargable battery packs. The controllers were not marked so I had the kid scan one for me......$20! Bought one and a battery pack for $26. I asked why they were on clearance and he said because those SKU's werent on their planogram so they have to put them on clearance. I wish I had the money on me to buy them all, I could have made some money.
Anyone on the West Coast find anything? Seems these are all over there...in the East! Not fair!
See my Oregon post above...
Deals aren't as good as the right coasters though.
I work at wal-mart, and here's the deal:

These are all new items for the new "modulars"(basically just the plan for how everything is set up). If the new mod isn't set yet, almost all new items show up as DELETED in the computer system. What's likely happened is these stores haven't set their mods, and their employees are morons(not like that's surprising), so they see the item is deleted, and even though they've never seen it before and the shipping label specifically says it's "NEWMODWK##", they clearance it out.

So this is definitely going to be YMMV, but I'm sure it happens alot, and probably worth checking out.

But, this also means any items that Wal-mart isn't carrying anymore(the entire electronics department is getting reset) are going to be on clearance. Clearance is a store-to-store basis, though, so prices will vary.
Cloe. A lot of the smaller stores aren't carrying the black accessories at all - thus even if they've set their new mods, the items still won't show up as something they carry on a regular basis. So the items are more likely to be marked down when the Department Manager goes through and starts marking down all the stuff they don't carry.

YMMV, of course.

Everything at the Williamsburg, VA store was regular price, which is to say "too much!!" (it also took me going to 5 of those price-checker machines to discover that)

Why is it my Wal-mart never has these YMMV deals? Grrr. Seriously, $50 for a controller you need a $20 accessory to even use sucks... :bomb:

My Walmart in Hamilton NJ had the black batteries packs for 5 bucks each, only saw 2 there so I bought them even thought I don't have a black controller. Also saw 1 Logitec wireless PS2 controller for $15, bought that as well, that's all I saw at my Walmart.

20 GB HDD marked down to $80 found on clearance endcap near photography. HD-DVD add-on marked $150, same area. 120GB HDD marked $180, rings up $172.00.

No black equipment at all, so maybe it already sold, or the deal isn't going on here.

Just a note, if you don't have a location listed below your name, please tell everyone where you're getting these prices. It could save trips to Wal-Mart for other CAGs.

My Wal-Marts clearance isle just put up alot of game stuff. Nothing in the way of black controllers most is Wii and DS stuff.

Yep. I wish that were a required field in the form.

If anyone sees some in J-town, leave one for me. :) I'm going to head over after work.

My local Wal-Mart (Las Vegas) had nothing. They didn't even have any of the elite accessories on the shelf but they had a lot of empty spots so they are probably going to reset soon.

Well I went to Santee, La mesa and El Cajon walmarts and none of these 3 stores (not the camino canada one) had anything in clearance.

I might swing by the South Bay (San Diego... the ones in Chula Vista or San Ysidro) walmarts tonight but i doubt I'll bother.

I'm disappointed that the National City walmart didnt drop the price on those controllers more. $47 is cheaper than $50 but CC has put the controllers on sale for $40 in the past (even if they were the white ones). If you're looking for clearanced stuff, check out this walmart and Lemon grove. None of the other San Diego area walmarts had much of anything at all on clearance.

I have no plans of checking any walmarts north of the 52 or east of 67 so if you're in San Diego, check those other ones out (like at Poway).

This weekend I may hit one of the vegas walmarts but I won't be able to hit multiple stores, so who knows.

I'll be checking out Westport Road. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

nothing at boynton beach super walmart, hypoluxo 24hr walmart(got the only thing), nothing at linton walmart, and nothing on the walmart on 441 in boca.

No luck on Hurstbourne. They were all locked in a glass case marked $49. I didn't even see any other black accessories other than the controller.

No such luck in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I checked out the one on 27th and College Ave area and the Ghetto-fabulous one by 27th and Oklahoma. No such luck at either...

No black accessories, but I snagged (3) $5 white battery backs. Just what I needed. They also had (as of yesterday) 4-5 512meg 360 memory cards at $30 each. About a dozen Nintendo Wi-Fi adapters for $20 each. Some Wii starter kit that has a stand, remote glove and 512meg SD card for I think $20.

Umm, you do realize that you can use regular AA batteries with the wireless controllers, so you don't need "a $20 accessory to even use", right?

Thanks a ton OP. Just got back from the Auburn, NY Walmart with 2 wireless controller/play and charge kit combo packs for $25 each. They're marked $50, but they ring up only half that. I left 2 wireless controllers ($20 each) and one controller/play and charge kit ($25) for anybody who was thinking of going and picking one up. If nobody picks it up in a day or 2, I'm going back to get it, so let me know if you pick it up (and save me the 45 minutes).

Nice! they didnt have any of the play and charge kit ones out when i was there. I might stop out tonight and pick one up, ill post whats left when i get back if i go.

Checked the Walmart in Waco Tx and they didnt have any of these. They did have the combo packs but were marked 64 and change plus tax. I didnt think of asking to pull it out and check. My bad...

At the WM in Taylor Tx, they did have a clearance rack but the controllers were comming up as tagged at 45.00 and the plug n play was 18.00 instead of 19.99.

Well, I wasn't referring to the Play-and-Charge thing, I meant the receiver to use it with Windows, specifically "Games for Windows" which are supposed to support the Xbox 360 controller without mess.

I know, I could just get a wired controller for $30 off Amazon... in fact, that's what I'll probably do instead.

No luck on Westport Rd. The only thing Elite I spotted was the HD.

No luck on the black controllers in altoona, IA, but they did have the regular white battery pack on a clearance table for $5 so I grabbed one of those. :D

Wal-mart hates modders, too.

The Wii starter pack was $19 at my walmart too. They also has the media adapter for the DS that let you play mp3s and watch movies from an SD card for $22. The white battery packs were $5 at mine and they had a few different DS carrying cases for $3.50 each. Lot of other stuff too, I just didnt pay much attention to the Playstation stuff because I dont own one.

Saw that last week at a Wal-Mart by me, however, they didn't have controllers. They just had battery packs and play and charge kits. The battery backs were 10 something and the play and charge were 17 something

any of these deals in MA Walmarts? my local Walmart is too far for me to blindly go check.
Anyone see this in Northern, VA?
I'm in manassas, and the prices were the same as they always are. that was on the tag. I was going to take it to one of the scanners but they have that stupid security on there so you can't take the controllers off the hooks.

sol44 you couldn't hook me up and get me another one... loser

I went to the walmart here in Syracuse, NY...Nothing

i checked yesterday at my walmart location (Craig Rd & Las Vegas Blvd) and there were ZERO black accessories...so either they dont have em or other cags got em

I checked just about every Wal-mart within 20 miles of Baton Rouge, and all I found on sale where the 360 battery packs for $3 each. I saw quite a few black accessories, but they all scanned at their normal prices.

I hated to start a new thread for this...I just saw some PS2 Ultimate Spiderman Limited Edition @ WalMart for $14.88, which is their usual "old stock we need toget rid of" price. I'm not sure what makes the Limited Edition so special, but not a bad $ if somebody cares about it.

If the stuff was on clearance then it would be in a seperate clearance section with all the clearance stuff. I can guarantee you that if the accessories are on their normal racks. hooks and shelves then chances are they are not being clearanced.

I just saw this today also... I wonder if maybe there was reprint?

Ya I figured that, but i thought i might just try just for kicks and giggles. The only thing in the clearance section of my walmart was digitial camera crap.

I checked North Reading sunday, but no luck.

Prolly not, I cant imagine they would reprint a special edition just to sell it that cheap. Most likely it just didnt sell through, and they unloaded the remaining copies in a bundle to the dubya.
