Gamescom bits from overnight:

Crackdown 3 

100% destruction is only available in multiplayer mode because of the almighty cloud. Single player/offline has destruction, just not full environments. The game is being co-developed by Sumo Digital. They recently did the :360: version of FH2. Devs claim the game is out Summer 2016.

Quantum Break

The game and full show episodes are all on the disc. What you see in each episode depends on the game choices you make. Episodes are 22 minutes each. (I really hope we get a CE for this game.)

Battleborn

Releases on February 9 of next year. The game features 25 different playable characters now. Open Beta coming later this year/early next.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

The game is now cel-shaded, Borderlands style. Ok. Wait, what? New screens here.

We need a Champions of Norrath competitor, couch co-op hasn't been the same since and that was back on ththe PS2. When I first started watching I was all, "wait, is it?!" But then I was all, "'turn-based?' BLEGH!" I am disappoint. 😢

That seems like a really weird change to drop on people less than two months before launch. Not that it looks bad. The style worked really well for American Sk8land (though this isn't anywhere near that extreme).

Same. I can dig certain turn based games like Stick Of Truth, KOTOR, and that LOTR game that came out for PS2 (Third Age?). But for the most part I much prefer Diablo 3 style RPGs.

Naru's journey to reach Ori at the end could be interesting. Gumo had to be doing something while Ori was exploring too.

There have just been some odd pricing changes in the last week. The FIFA 15 Deluxe dropped from $44.99 to $34.99 on 7/31. Then on the 4th, the price dropped again to $29.99, and the 40% off Gold discount took it to $17.99. The base price was then set back to $34.99 and the discount price went up with it. Madden's price also jumped around, affecting its sale price.

Diablo 3 on console may as well have been made by Snowblind. They literally took Diablo 3 and wrapped it in the Champions/Dark Alliance formula.

The game didn't have great visuals to begin with. They made the change, undoubtedly, because of fan outcry. But this change makes things appear even worse.
Most likely waiting for the $20 BF price...

Looking at it on something larger than my 12" laptop I see what you mean now. The skaters definitely do look pretty terrible though I think the subtle styling on the levels in the screenshots looks quite good.

My expectations for this are really quite low, sadly. The past few have been so terrible and they're clearly having problems with this one. I want it to be a return to the greatness of 2, 3 and even 4 but I'm not expecting it.

I would much prefer a full price underground 3 would probably be expensive to make a big open world with modern graphics but I would buy it for sure

 
Regarding that Ori expansion... It will also be made available via an upcoming Definitive Edition. No word on what exactly will be part of this version. I wonder if this will be a disc release, too. Might have to double dip...

The Definitive Edition will have “a lot” of new content, including new areas that use new mechanics and artwork, as well as new abilities.

I didn't enjoy Diablo 3 at all. The controls on consoles are great but that's the only good thing I can say for it. It felt like a cookie cutter game - more of a Diablo clone than a Diablo game - and even falls for the zombie fad. That kind of incensed me, like hello, there's already demons slaughtering innocents. You don't need zombies too.
 
They showed off the software settings for the Xbox One Elite controller, and it looks pretty great.  You can easily change the button layouts, the rumble/stick/trigger sensitivity, and even lower the brightness of the xbox button or turn it off completely.

Zombies? 1% of the enemies are undead and you're complaining about it? You have an irrational hate of the game. Did you get past the second quest?

I'm pretty sure zombies have been in all three of the Diablo games in some form or fashion, if we're trying to keep it real here.

Hopefully they'd update Naru's movement. If she moved at that slow pace the whole game not being able to jump more than 2 inches that expansion would be a slog.
 
Did kickrockz ever comment on the Tony Hawk news? Isn't he our resident expert on skating games? Curious to see his opinion on the shading. For me personally, I lost all interest in the game seeing that but then again I haven't played a THPS game on a regular basis since THPS2.

I saw it but didn't post because I'm catching up on True Detective S2 and other shows. I'm not sure what to think about the cel shading. It sucks that they just changed it less than 2 months from release. They should have just delayed it and actually worked on improving it rather than change it to cel shading. But nope. Will need gameplay video and more info before I cancel my preorder and say fuck this.

If EA and MS can just bring Skate 3 over to :xb1: BC then I'll have my skateboarding game and be happy. That game still holds up very well.

Well beatbuddy came out of nowhere. Looks interesting. Horrible name, though. Still on the fence about the swindle. And you're right about submerged. I do want it, but it can wait for a sale.

See, this is what makes me think that they know it's going to be a flop and would rather capitalize on the holiday sales than put another six months into it and still be mediocre at best. Huge red flag for major overhauls to be happening in what should be when the game is getting polished.
