So, the Mass Effect Andromeda launch trailer's out and is awesome. However, many people - male and female - are upset (triggered?) that is focused on Scott like all previous cinematic/story trailers have been.

I personally don't care even though I'll be playing as Sara but I can't deny I was expecting a more balanced trailer or maybe an alternate trailer just like they did with the FemShep-centric "Reinstated" trailer for ME3.

Oh well. Just 5 more days for the EA Access 10-hour trial and 11 days for the full game. Hyped as f*ck.

PSA for the achievement hunters out there, I wouldn't bother with the Steep free weekend if you're hoping to get some free gamerscore. For BF1, during the free-to-play last weekend, it was very possible to get a ton of achievements. If you check out the ones for Steep though, they are all grindy and require a lot of playtime. The weekend is not long enough to earn a lot of GS.

Non-achievement hunters -- feel free to play for fun.

Actually 8 in Florida. I've only been to the one in Winter Park. Slightly different than the ones I remember in San Diego. Was still really good. We got our first meal for free when we signed up for their eClub last year. I don't think they have that offer anymore.

You can still get a free fish taco. I think they still give you a free meal on your birthday as well.

Hmmmm, interesting. Remember the ongoing XBL Rewards promotion where you get $15 for digitally pre-ordering 3 games by March 31st? There's also another one where you get $6 back for spending $60 in the store also by the 31st.

Well, I pre-ordered MEA and later, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 when CI Games announced that the XB1 version of the game would also get the season pass for free just like the PC and PS4 versions. Thing is, I got in touch with MS Support via chat on Sunday and canceled SGW3 and used the space money to get GR Wiildlands instead.

It seems the Rewards tracker can't recognize canceled pre-orders because I still got the $21. No complaining here. Just saying  :whistle2:

Thanks for the heads up, yeah challenges ftw. The challenges for FH3 & Halo Wars 2 keep me coming back and playing Blitz and the assorted multiplayer modes. Last night I finished all the three dailes and weeklies lol.

Taco Bell, Rubio's, Chipotle(my #2 to go to place)  But small family owned Mexican restaurants sometimes can outdo everyone, like the one I found in my area I can't believe food can taste so fucking good food touches so deeply feels like home.

A week before Zelda came out (and I didn't realize I'd be able to get it), I decided to attack the backlog. I felt like shooting things and fired up the original Halo via the MCC. I never understood the hype for the series, it just seemed like a competent, forgettable shooter.

This week I've played almost as much Halo as Zelda, which I initially chose b/c I told myself "You can't be up til 2am, play a game with structured levels so you can quit after 1-2." Nah, I was still up late. I still don't totally get the hype but I enjoyed the original game far more than I did ~13 years ago.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that the Halo remaster looked a lot better than the Halo 2 remaster?

 
Update on the oscar movie gift card situatuion for anyone interested.

After contacting the Microsoft Store support(They only have phone, not email or chat), They gave me my $25 plus an extra $5 for my trouble. They had to call me back to research the promotion and didn't actually call me until a day after they said they would but they gave me my money. Their gift card generator was having trouble so they issued a direct refund to my microsoft account so my credit doesn't expire for 2 years so that's a bonus.

For anyone who hasn't gotten their credit and is willing to call, I recommend calling the microsoft store support. Twice I was put in contact with Xbox support though the chat option on the movie support and they cannot help (though they did give me a free month of gold for my trouble). When I contact microsoft support, They wanted my order numbers though they couldn't find them at first. My issue I believe was that the microsoft store marked the time in UTC which was ahead of my time. This made it appear in the system that my order was after the purchase period. The only advice I can give is to call the windows store support phone number, tell them the promotion was called "Build Your Oscar Collection Movie Offer" and they will likely ask for the names of the movies and their respective order numbers. Personally, I ordered 5 movies so I got $25 back so tell them how many movies you ordered and how much you expect to receive. That is of course $5 per qualifying film. ^ It was a spiritual successor to Goldeneye as Halo C.E. was that game to play or hell bring a TV over to your friend's house so you can all hook up a Xbox and play a big LAN party. The controls for a fps weren't really worked out yet and Halo C.E. had a big hand in that. The story was pretty good too. I got a Xbox for that game, and happened to get a game that came with it, Blinx.

Halo 1 brought tight controls to shooters with that OG Xbox controller the Duke and S, it had a split screen coop campaign and unbelievably fun 16 person multiplayer when you hooked 4 tvs and 4 Xbox together. It brought the fun PC players were having with Counter-Strike to consoles. It brought console shooters to the map and paved the way for things like Call of Duty Multiplayer, Destiny, Battlefield on console, and so many other shooters. Before Halo the competitive shooter genre was not big on console.

That's why people love Halo 1 :) to go back and play just the campaign now won't give you the same appreciation of being in the hype of when it came out.

you get Premium packs....one Deluxe and one Super Deluxe Booster....for use in multiplayer every week for like 5 months, I think. Some shit like that.

The achievement/trophy list leaked btw....you don't really have to play MP at all aside from the tutorial if you don't want to. If its anything like ME 3 it'll be addicting as hell so I'll be playing that shit.

I feel like Goldeneye always gets left out of this conversation. Before that, shooters just plain didn't exist on consoles, and the mission objectives in Goldeneye even brought things to the genre that hadn't been done before. In terms of MP, Halo had a bigger impact, but Goldeneye deathmatch was a pretty big deal in the late 90s.
