This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Fixed.

EDIT: I just realized how that could be misconstrued. What I'm saying is that Netflix destroyed gaming. Looking at my friends list, it's all anyone's doing, even the hardcorest of gamers I know. T^T
Don't know about "destroyed" but ok. Maybe they're just taking a break? I played the shit out of Dead Rising 3 getting 1,000 and now I feel the need to just chill out from gaming for a few days.

Thank you as always for the quick and awesome replies. I do believe that I will give the first Dead Space game a playthrough. One can't have enough good horror games. And I'll admit to being a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft, so the prospect of dark, tentacly (probably not a word) evil things is extra appealing.
Good choice. I was going to say that if you played through 2 without playing 1, you'd be missing out on some cues from the first game. There's definitely some parts of 2 where you're crapping your pants because you experienced something similar in the first game. So playing through the first enhances the second. The 3rd is kind of meh. Nothing really tying that to the other two than parts of the story.

So misconstrued.
Heh, sorry. My mind is paranoid about that stuff because apparently everyone I've come into contact with doesn't ever understand exactly what I mean, even though I'm speaking proper English. Is there a "phobia" word for that? Meh.

Anyways back OT, looks like I'll be getting Phantom Breaker. Ever since I bought Charlie Murder, I've been addicted to sidescrolling Beat em ups. Might get Alice but with my backlog, I don't think I'll get around to it anytime soon.

Damn choices choices choices.....I want Crysis 3, Catherine, and Alice. Then that damn Final Exam looks awesome; I'm a sucker for side scrolling beat em'ups even though this one seems to scream sucks. Has anyone played Final Exam that can give an opinion on its merits or lack thereof?

Damn, and Phantom Breaker....this week looks painful.

Could anyone speak to the quality of that Phantom Breaker beat 'em up and Final Exam?  I played the demos for both, and was left feeling unsure about whether both games get better as you go along or not.  I love beat em ups, and I'd also be playing these games with buddies, as co-op is a big part of the draw for me.  Thanks in advance as always, you guys are da best.

Team Four Star has a few Lets Plays in Final Exam. Looks like fun when you have others to play with.

Mass Effect 3 question, but to get the best ending do I have to get to 100% prepared in multiplayer? I Played some like a year back and sent classes I maxed out to war or whatever as well if that makes any difference.
Nah, I finished it around July last year but I didn't have full MP done (the Galactic Readiness or whatever it's called). I had done most of the side quests/ tedious "missions" and I had over 90% on the MP (which was surprisingly fun) going into the final mission.

P.S. Don't let other people tell you it's a bad ending, judge for yourself. I didn't play it when it came out so I don't know what the original ending was. I started playing the game and downloaded the extended version and I thought it was a good ending and a fairly good way of wrapping up the series.

I caved in and bought The Witcher and Dark Souls. I might not even get to either considering I have an X1 and PS4 now. My digital backlog is getting bigger than I like.

Thanks. Didn't know if I had to split between multi and single to get full enjoyment, but yeah looks like everyone is saying if I do just the side missions I should be fine. Curious, but is there any benefit to sending off fully maxed out soldiers in multi to the war effort?

Also looks like XBLDB might have picked up the last few things on sale and only thing not brought up that's half off is RAW is WAR for $5.

Mass Effect 2 DLC, why can't you ever go on sale other than the two times that I am aware of?  With Citadel going on sale finally, I might just have to ante up and buy them at regular price.  Then I will watch and see all Mass Effect add-ons have a sale for $3.37 or some randomly low Xbox live price at the beginning of February.  Then I will placate my loss with a sandwich and then go out drinking and spend more on each of those than I would have saved in the first place.    Ehh

Nah they're just extra points for the galactic readiness thing. But MP is still fun as hell, if you're into the "Horde" thing. Shotgun Inflitrators OPdesu.

Also, like Masters said, ignore what others say about the ending. And like David Cage's games, only play through the series once, because multiple playthroughs could or could not destroy your previous opinions you had of your first ending.

I Played through the multi and yeah I did enjoy it when I played it a year or so back.

And bleh David Cage. Hated Beyond: Two Souls so goddamn much. Worst thing I played last year and I goddamn enjoyed Heavy Rain.

Damn these sales adding to my backlog. At least I finished up four games this month. I'm in for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and probably Catherine.

Mass Effect 2 is the best game of this generation.

Nothing will change that.

Dragon's Dogma couldn't change that.
Indignate, as much as I like watching your signature, you are wrong here. ME1 is much better than ME2. :)

I actually ran an ME1 vs ME2 poll on another forum a while back, and the results were nearly dead even. It's a very controversial topic.

Help me out guys, should I buy Kingdoms or Citadel? I've been looking at Kingdoms for a while now, and of course I, like many others, have been waiting for Citadel to go on sale. I don't think I have enough cash for both :( Decisions. Decisions.  :wall:

In case you forgot about your f5 button:

More on xbldb.

BF 1943 @ 7.49

Moon Diver @ 7.49

Shank 2 @ 2.49

Edit: Err wait...were they just not important enough to mention. Might have to check out Shank 2. I bought a used Bad Co. 2 off ebay a while back w/ an unused 1943 code in it so that's checked off the list.

Please EA now make bad co 2 a gwg game with all DLCs half off so the user base can get back and I can finally buy them :(
I'd love to have BC2 again! I liked it more than BF3 and sure as hell love it more than BF4 but I stupidly sold it. I already have all the DLC (except the horde thing) and it would be amazing to go back to playing that game again!

I had it without the VIP thing (used copy ugh), then sold it, and now I bought it again because VIP is now free. I'd love to introduce my friends to BC2, the best Battlefield game ever IMHO.

Prices are so broken in Europe anyway.. 13€ for Catherine? 15€ for KoA? 10€ for Mirror's Edge? -.-

I'll wait for the GwG announcement and if there are no discounted DLCs I'll pick up BF1943 or Shank 2

Also, why aren't Mass Effect games on GonD except for the first one? :/

I want Tales and Dark Souls, but I'm scared they'll end up on Games for Gold and/or PS Plus in a month or two.
It's possible that they may become titles available in Games for Gold or PS Plus, but if you are really interested in playing the titles, you are unlikely to find a cheaper price than $4.94 and $4.99 respectively. Physical copies of both titles would be at least $10.00 or more, and the sheer value for the amount of hours of gameplay and entertainment you get for the money spent is ridiculous.

TL;DR: If you like RPG's, I would recommend that you get them. The off-chance that they may become free later is no reason to not buy a game you want to play now.

I would if the servers were till up and I could get the dlcs achievements.
TrueAchievements doesn't list the DLC achievements as discontinued. Apparently when the game attempts to connect to EA's servers, you can press B to cancel and it will let you play them offline. (Offline as in no leaderboards or ghost runs from the EA servers, but you're still connected to XBL so the achievements are timestamped.)

Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC? Woo hoo! Time to play all the campaign DLC and finish the achievements.

Mirror's Edge? He'll yeah! I was just thinking about this game and will buy it.

Dead Space? I'm a scaredy cat but enjoyed the demo so I'll nab that too.

EA, why won't you put Dante's Inferno on sale? I want that for $5 too!

I'll be downloading trials for all the XBLA games on sale this week, but I'll probably pass on them. After playing the TOV demo earlier I decided to not buy it. The price is extremely tempting but I have enough RPGs to play and I hear you have to play it 3 times to get all 1000 GS and I couldn't imagine enjoying 1. I'd rather play Lost Odyssey again since that game's amazing.

If you have not played the game and do not mind a digital copy then go for it. It is a steal at below $5. Plus it will get you ready...when your backlog lets you... for the sequel that is coming out. I bought a used copy from GS a while back for about $17 and it is too late to return it. So I am skipping on owning a digital copy

Decided to get it. I played the demo a while back, and I had fun with it. Need some parkour games anyways.

Just make sure you have the Extended Cut DLC downloaded (which you obviously should have anyway). The EC DLC patches the game so that in order to get the "best" ending (or at least, the ending variation with the highest requirement necessary to achieve), you only need an Effective Military Strength of 3100 at the point in the game where that number locks in. In other words, even if you haven't played multiplayer recently and have the minimum Galactic Readiness of 50%, you still only need 6200 Total Military Strength. Before the Extended Cut was released, the EMS requirement was too high to attain without playing multiplayer, but 3100 is quite possible (even moreso if you have some of the other DLC, such as Leviathan).

Just one warning about promoting your multiplayer characters: once you do it, the war assets gained for each one are automatically there for every singleplayer game that you play ever again. If you do this enough times, it actually makes it impossible to deliberately get the worse endings without jumping through hoops (disconnecting your Xbox from the Internet). I also hate having such a high war asset rating for my multiplayer squad, as it undermines what Shepard is doing in the story and makes the rest of the galaxy look weak in comparison. In my opinion, Bioware really dropped the ball by having the singleplayer and multiplayer automatically connected, without even providing an option to unlink them from one another.

As for the Citadel DLC, I'm really glad that it's finally on sale so everyone who has been waiting for it can buy it. I personally was lucky enough to get a download code for it the day it launched from someone in the trading thread for $7 (which I was really stoked about because I was prepared to actually pay full price for it). But congrats to everyone who held out for a sale! Now all of the ME3 DLC has been on sale at least once.

how often has all the other ME3 DLC gone on sale? Omega, From Ashes, Leviathan....shit starts adding up. With the sale included, the DLC alone would be over $41. Yikes.

You've convinced me to get them. :D

Now about Mirror's Edge. I got a free copy on PC, but my PC is crap. Should I wait a year or so to play it (when I MIGHT get a new PC) or just get it now?

Got all excited when I saw ME3 DLC, but kind of disappointed it is only one of them. Oh well, will purchase that and continue waiting patiently for the rest. Just recently restarted Mass Effect 1, so I have a while before I need them.

Oh man...Dead Space 1 and 2 are such great games.  I haven't tried 3 yet but I got it in my backlog.  Dead Space 1 was just the perfect thriller.  Dead Space 2 had a great gameplay.  I loved it so much I played DS2 about 9 times.  The hand cannon is just beast and so fun to play with....it was worth the headaches.  I even bought that shitty Dead Space ignition game just to get the Hacker Suit for DS2.

As for Kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect 3, be sure to download and play their demos so you can get the suits from each game.

come on, we are CAGs meaning what ever we buy, we play on the spot. Backlog, pfft what is that?In all seriousness, I would say it depends on you.I mean i think you could play mirrors edge with a controller on the pc so you could wait. I mean, i even have mirrors edge on the pc, though my pc is crap as well, I bought a copy for the xbox360 as well due to my dilemma. I mean for $5, it is a steal. Don't think, Do.

Also, why aren't Mass Effect games on GonD except for the first one? :/
I've noticed that EA seems to be unable to figure out how to release multi-disc games as digital downloads (or is just too lazy to try). Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 are all two-disc games published by EA and none of them are available as Games on Demand. Strange, you'd think that EA would want some of their highest profile games to be available for purchase as many ways as possible, especially once they start getting older and more people will be forced to buy the physical copies used.

Not often, unfortunately. From Ashes was only on sale once and it wasn't even a decent savings (only 30% off). Omega was half off once in July and Leviathan has been half off twice (Black Friday 2012 and the 2013 "Back to School" sale).

The best Mass Effect DLC sale that XBL has ever had, by far, was a daily sale during the countdown to 2011 when all of the ME2 DLC (except for Arrival, which hadn't been released yet) was only 200 MSP each. That was 75% off for Lair of the Shadow Broker, the kind of sale that Microsoft almost never had back then!

As a general rule, buy any Dead Space or Mass Effect DLC that you're interested in any time it goes on sale, because it hardly ever does!
