Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Well the Ford GT looks pretty damn good.
Yeah it's gonna look good on the side of the road lol. fuckin' Fords.

I'm more interested in the tracks for the next Forza Motorsport title to be honest. We should be getting a bunch of really purdy environments with the new hardware and things they've learned using the Azure infrastructure.

The February Update should be coming out for Preview Members. It seems like a pretty light update with the two most notable features being transparent live titles for custom backgrounds and a new "Game Hub" feature.

LOL!!!! As an employee of a Ford competitor...I couldn't agree more. Besides, that aluminum chassis they're going with on the F-150's is stupid for so many reasons.

With the trade in a game @ best buy offer + GCU + 10$ Gift card buying Dying light is almost a no brainer comes out to about 30 withh all the savings. Hoping it is good if not it will be a cheap rental to sell back to BB or Gamestop.

Here's hoping Forza 6 will have the weather effects from Forza Horizon 2. That would make 6 much less sterile and more dynamic.

Transparent tiles look cool, the game hub feature seems similar to what the PS4 does when you press down on a game tile, it's a pretty cool feature but I wonder how convenient it will be compared to the PS4 offering.

Just one week until the Windows 10 conference. Will be interesting to see if the Xbox One gets any discussion or if Phil Spencer is there to talk solely about Windows 10 gaming.

In a move everybody saw coming Microsoft has announced there will be a "Promotion" and the Xbox One will go back to $350 starting January 16th. Microsoft also notes the Xbox One was the best selling console in November and December, but NPD numbers for December aren't public yet.

http://news.xbox.com/2015/01/xbox-one-record-breaking-holiday-look-ahead-2015

NPD Software numbers were released and with games that were released on both current-gen consoles in mind 8 out of the top 10 games in December sold better on the Xbox One with the only exception being Far Cry 4.

With the whole year in mind the top 10 games that were released on both platforms the PS4 beat out the Xbox One with 5 of the 9 games released on both platforms selling better on the PS4. That leaves 3 games selling better on the Xbox One (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, and Minecraft).

Note NPD Numbers don't include bundles or digital game purchases.

Rogue Legacy is coming to Xbox One later this year. It's one of the best Metroidvania/action platformers I've played. Here's my preview.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is an excellent puzzle game for Xbox One that's only available at Japanese retail. My guide tells you how to import (it's region-free) and what all the menus do.

Thanks East for all of the videos I have been watching them as I come across them in this thread. Been eyeing Puyo so might import thanks for the video and advice.

Anyone else really excited and depressed at the same time over the Borderlands port?

I'm excited, but I found out too late about the collectors edition (again). Why the fuck do they have to make them so fucking limited?! I love this series, and it really is shitty that due to my schedule and how they handle the releases that I get screwed. Why not announce it, and say preorders start in 1 week? Sigh.

The Windows 10 conference starts today and there may be some talk about the Xbox One. At the very least Phil Spencer will be there to talk about Xbox on Windows 10. I'll update this post with any interesting announcements.

-Universal Apps will come to the Xbox One through Windows 10's integrated app store.

-Xbox One App on Windows 10. Will let you voice chat with your friends, send the messages, check out their game-clips and activity feeds, and it will also introduce GAME DVR to Windows 10. Game DVR works with ANY Windows game and will let you record the last 30 seconds of gameplay then edit the clip and share it on PC.

-Fable Legends is coming to Windows PC's and will feature cross-play with the Xbox One.

-You'll be able to stream Xbox One games to ANY Windows 10 device anywhere in your house. Forza Horizon 2 is demonstrated being played on a Windows 10 PC.

The streaming thing is pretty awesome. Wonder how well it will work. Has to be a response to Sony's PSTV/Vita streaming capabilities, which is great because I was pretty jealous of that.

Voice chat on Windows 10 is cool.

Just hope my W7 PC can run it no issues when the free upgrade comes around.

According to GAF the PC streaming is on a game specific basis and games will require an update to use the function. This is unlike the PS4 Remote Play which works on a system wide basis.

Microsoft has stated that Fable Legends is only the first of many Microsoft Studio's titles that will be coming to PC.

watch  all the window users using hacks for fable legends ruining the experience .

Will be interesting to see how many games can actually be streamed. Id assume all Microsoft games will but i'm not so sure about 3rd party since that might see it as cutting into their PC sales.

Depending on the process required to enable Remote Play I wouldn't be surprised if it's just strictly Microsoft games. I hope I'm wrong as I am sure Microsoft will want to be working with third-party developers to get as many games supported as possible.

I don't see loss of PC game sales being a factor in the decision process since not everybody owns a gaming PC and I'd say the people who own consoles are probably a majority of the crowd that doesn't game on PC.

I wouldn't say that. Games will generally look better with a decent enough PC, and mods. Plus Steam Sales.

Now if I can only use Mouse + Keyboard controls.

I bought two refurb Xbox Ones from Microsoftstore on Black Friday and at the time, I only setup one of them which works fine. The second one I just opened and tested it tonight. When I turned it on, it had a coil whine sound but then when it finished updating, it was gone. Should I still be worried?

What's the difference between followers and friends in the buddylist? How can I tell if someone on buddylist blocked me?  Thanks

No, I think they put out a update that fixed the coil whine if Im not mistaken so you should be good.

Borderlands is nice. Glad they are putting that on the One.

Hopefully Forza 6 has a lot of tracks. I feel like 5 got the series almost right, except for the amount of tracks and other small things like the f2p crap.

This may be the greatest Open World RPG, Period.

Then again over 30 endings. I am not going to name other series of games, but this is how an open world RPG where your choices matter should end.
We can only hope so. If anyone besides Bioware is going to aim that high, I would hope it's CD Projekt for The Witcher.

Borderlands in 4 player split screen is quite an awesome concept and you gotta love cross-saves!

Yeah FM5 had a rough launch but they've updated it since then. They added a track via update but I agree, more tracks def.

Yeah, oh man I can't wait for The Witcher 3 and Batman AK!

Witcher 3 first person or third person or can you switch? Never heard of the game (I do not game much) until now and if it's third might be interested.

Third-person only. If you have an Xbox 360, part 2 is Games with Gold until the end of the month.
