Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Found an open box Microsoft One headset off eBay for $40. I am extremely happy since I really wanted a headset other than the crappy one that comes packaged in, plus the chat adapter comes with it.

Hopefully the Forza Horizon 2 demo finishes for me today. 10 GB for the demo just so I can play it for 10 mins and get a car for the full game, lol.

Should I preorder the Sunset Overddrive bundle at bestbuy for peace of mind?  Or should I wait to see the Sunday ad for bestbuy the week it comes out?

Preorder it to be safe, then keep an eye out on the deals thread for a preview of that week's ad. If you have to, cancel the preorder and re-order or call customer service to ensure that you'll get whatever deal comes with it.

Yeah I think I'll do that. I just don't want my movers coupon to become invalidated because i preordered online. Also does bb charge you now or when it's ready for pickup? I've never preordered anything on bestbuy.com. I'm thinking of just ordering it and if there is a better deal asking the manager to pm it

Pretty much but, I've pretty much decided that the Sunset Overddrive bundle is about the best deal I'm going to get. I want to pay in cash but, I also don't want them to run out. I'm waiting on a $15 gift card from bb in the mail and maybe find a way to get from 249 to 250 points for another $5 off but yeah I'm pretty sure that's the bundle i want I just don't want to be left out in the cold when they don't have any in stock

If I'm kicked back in the recliner it picks up my feet as a hand. If I'm sitting directly in front of the kinect on the couch I can't get the gestures to work worth a damn. Works fine in games, though and better than the 360 version.

Dude, you sound like me. Overthinking it and "over-CAG-ing" it. :whistle2:k First, I don't think the SO bundle will sell out. I may be wrong, but I doubt it will. Second, They charge when it comes out and picking up at the store is simple and pretty reliable. Third, don't worry too much about timing with the reward certs...you'll get a bunch from the console purchase and you'll no doubt want to buy more games before long anyway. Those reward zone certificates will get used.

Regarding paying with cash, you can preorder at BB, but the day it comes out you can buy a 2nd one with cash and return the preorder. Don't know if that will negate any preorder bonus credit or anything and it's a hassle....but you'd get to use cash if that's important to you.

Not really just will save me a trip to the bank to deposit the cash I've set aside for the console. I'm not too woried about timing with reward certificates it's just if I push myself one more point I get $5 off. Not that big of a deal in the scheme of things but, you are right I'll get another $5 at least by buying the console and I'll probably end up buying some games on black friday anyway.

Same here, disabled the hand gesture function during videos. Do you know if there is an option to show how much a download has progressed by showing the data count instead of percentage like PS4? My Forza Horizon 2 demo download is stuck at 95% and I can't tell if it is still downloading or not...

there's not. But, if you go to the Network settings there should be a bandwidth usage that'll show the current download speed and a time table of how many GB's are downloaded per hour. It's also a good idea to run a speed test in there when the xbox isn't downloading something to make sure you're getting the correct speed.

Edit: Also for those getting the forza demo, you might want to do as much as you can in one sitting. For whatever reason, the demo resets your progress when you close it out. So if you load it up again later you have to sit through the intro videos and tutorial stuff. Kind of annoying.

You can do that just for videos? I may have to take a look at my settings.
 
The Forza Horizon 2 demo was fun as hell. If the real game has a shit load of content then It's a definite GOTY contender for me. I haven't had as much fun playing a racing game since probably the first TDU, Burnouts before that obviously.

Settings > Kinect, contains the option to turn it off during videos.

Oh yes. Horizon 2 has 168 championships (which I think each have multiple races in different locations) and lots of stuff to do beyond that, like Team Events, etc. It is my racing game of the year for sure.

People complain about the intro in the demo, but Need for Speed Rivals' intro was at least 20 times stupider. That game's story just made me want to punch whoever wrote it.

BTW, D4 comes out Friday 9/19 for $14.99. Flockers from Team 17 is also out that day.

Next week we get Castle Storm ($10), Kickbeat ($10), Defense Grid 2 ($25?), and possibly another game. So many games!

On Major Nelson it says D4 on friday. Volgarr the Viking should also pop up very soon too and Pinball Arcade is in certification, i lurk the xbox one games thread on gaf ;p

My bad - I got the release date mixed up with the review embargo. Good to see a fellow GAFer here. CAG and GAF are my two favorite online hangouts. :)

It's one of the best looking games on the platform, has very realistic handling but options for assists to make it manageable, a nice open world structure, some offroad racing here and there, lots of races and variety in their locations, lots of cars to collect, a good unlock structure, a pretty good selection of music spread across three radio stations, good enemy AI created from actual players (i.e. drivatars), fun multiplayer features... Not all of which is in the demo, but you get the idea.

I wish they would give Horizon 1 on Games with Gold, would really like to give the series a go.  I guess I could snag the demo..

 
Forza Horizon 2 might become my favorite racing game period. What I really love about it is how I can set the difficulty so that it's just hard enough for me to be challenging but not so hard that it's not fun. Drivatars make this game special as well because these AI don't feel like AI. They mess up, will ram your car, make crazy moves like real people would.

I am seriously impressed and I can't wait for the full game. My favorite part of the demo is they don't screw around giving you easy tracks, first race is you spend a good portion of it offroading and it's awesome.

Has anyone ordered from the Microsoft store online? They claim that all the games coming out this year you can get on release day and I am wondering if they are usually good with that. If so, I am getting in on that and buying Forza, Halo and Dragon Age from them because they all come with free $10 xbox credit.

Still prefer the street racing series and Burnout over Forza/Gran Turismo, but FH2 is a great game.  The demo just did everything right.

Not a day 1 purchase, but wouldn't mind buying this game.  Also a NFS Underground reboot is much overdue at this point.

 
fifa 15 my opinion is the best sports game yet on next gen it runs soooo smooth and announcers are so amazing GREAT job EA sports bravo now do the same with madden next year.

when you playhing league games they even have announcer come in updating when a goal is scored i another game describing it  =P~

was not even going to buy this game and plan to keep playing 14 but i can't go back to that now :/

I got it for $10 around a week before the Xbox One free Forza 5 weekend. Played the demo first, and it was rather expansive. I immediately purchased Horizon after completing the main objectives in its demo.
 
D4 is great so far, but trying to play with a controller if you also have a Kinect attached can be annoying. My game would start tracking other people in the room, even after I had chosen to play with controller, thus disabling the controller. Then we're FORCED to stand up and raise a hand before it will allow us to switch back to the controller. Really dumb. When I say I want to play with the controller, that's what I mean, period. (Unplugging the Kinect would solve the problem, but that sucks.)

 
yeah seems like d4 was another kinect only game until recently and devs were lazy when it came making game work with gamepad. just got past the intro and game is already odd like i was expecting liking it so far.

Another thing tried to stream it on twitch app and gives me error code but madden and fifa both stream so hope it's fixed would love to stream this

I realize I'm late to replying to this. My issues (some demo specific) were:

There was way to much cut-scene going on before I could drive a car. (Forza 5 was the same way at start. Unskippple video bothers me)

Once I chose my own car (the SUV), almost the moment I picked up speed, the camera flew off to show me something I should speed past, despite the fact that I was just forced to decelerate for said message.

My first race, mostly off road, in an off road looking vehicle was stupid. I spent a large bit of time at every turn with my vehicle sliding perpendicular to the direction it was facing. I have no interest in simulation going to the next level of making me drive a course I'm not designed to drive on.

On comparison a game like The Crew had me losing some control off road (even with off road set up) But not to the degree I saw here.

On the other end, I am picking up D4 today. Maybe something else while I'm at BB.
