Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

There is no reason to not buy Titanfall unless:

1) You hate FPS

2) You want a good singleplayer campaign.

3) You don't like the lack of system link/splitt screen/offline matchmaking, as it is online only.

4) You're holding out for some insane microsoftstore.com deal where It's $5 (the 360 version already was at least and sold out really fast) or GWG in 5 years on X1.

Everything about the game is great and It's a steal at $10. It's probably my second favorite game of the year behind Bayonetta 2, just ahead of Forza Horizon 2. First time I ever went to prestige more then three times (I'm a Gen 10) and even after that there is ranked play which resets every month.

Yup Titanfall is a must if you own the system. I got it with the system included and I'd say very memorable and fun time then. I heard they added some kind of horde mode?

Yeah it's called Frontier Defense. The only thing I don't like about it is each "game" takes about 25-30 mins.

I'm not a fan of twitch FPS games and I didn't even really like the Titanfall beta, but I still grabbed the deluxe edition, that price is too good to pass up and I'll give the game another go.

After all the flack given to the PSN outage, surprised there isn't an uproar from others.

Lizard Squad is a pretty cool name though.

Meh, really no reason. Anyone with a brain knew this count happen to anyone so not shocking Live is getting hit.

I visited Xbox.com and got an html error page a few hours ago. Got on just now on my phone as I decided to check out Xbox.com's Cyber Monday deals and noticed the Titanfall Season Pass for Xbox 360 doesn't require gold. I was gonna just pick it up for Xbox One for later but I'm not a Xbox Live Gold sub atm. That's strange.

i also jumped on titanfall deal hard to pass that deal up. i heard the dlc maps turned out better then many of the main game maps so excited to try it out sometime this week

What do people get out of these hacks? They feel good about doing it? I mean, if that's how you want to waste your time on this Earth. Pretty sad.

Attention. Last time they took down Twitch for a few hours, they said they'd only bring it back up if 3 people wrote Lizard Squad on their forehead. Eventually, 3 people did it so they left twitch alone.

Maybe it was a grudge match.

I have a few questions and this seems like the best place to ask. I plan to pick up a xbox one after xmas. My daughter, neices/nephews are getting me giftcards to best buy (my wife spilled the beans). I find this act to be beyond cute given they are all under 7 years of age. they want me to have the console, and who I am to argue.

anyhow I have a wiiu and ps4. I want the xbox one for exclusives. I look forward to playing sunse overdrive in a big way. I do not really enjoy fps titles, so I am wondering what other major exclusives can I expect to see in the next 3 months. also, which ones have I missed?

I fell out of the loop on this console, only because it was not something I planned to get until next year around the holidays.

I do remember some info about connecting to my cable box. does it have to be connected? if I do connect, what cables do I use. do I connect the cable box to the xbox and then run to the tv, or does the xbox conntect to the cable then I connect that to the tv.

Sorry if the question sounds remedial, but my downstairs set up already has the wiiu and ps4, and I am limited with hdmi ports. Do the hdmi port splitters/adapters work well, or do they have a lot of lag?

if the console is run through my cable box, can I have full dvr functionality run through the xbox? again, sorry if this is all basic info, but I am clearly uninformed. thanks in advance.

In terms of exclusive not much is announced for 2015. Stuff like crackdown 3 scalebound phantom dust and quantum break have been announced but no firm release dates. Quantum break should be 2015 but I dont believe the others have been given 2015 release or not

Halo 5 is out holiday 2015 as well as the new tomb raider but that is only a timed holiday exclusive

Exclusive Wise here's a list I've pulled together. Just note I included some games that are also on PC, but you didn't mention having a gaming PC. Also note I didn't include releases into early next year because I think it's pretty empty besides Ori and the Blind Forest.

Current Releases

-Ryse Legendary Edition

-Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition

-Forza Horizon 2

-Forza 5 Game of the Year Edition

-Sunset Overdrive

-Disney Fantasia Music Evolved (If you're into Kinect Games or maybe your kids would like it if they play games)

-Project Spark (Kind of unsure about this as I haven't played it since Beta)

-Zoo Tycoon (Haven't played it so I'm not sure how good it actually is)

-Kinect Sports Rivals (Another Kinect game so hit or miss if you don't like Kinect)

-Killer Instinct

-Power Star Golf

The Xbox One has an HDMI IN port which is where you connect your cable box and then you use the other HDMI port to connect the Xbox (And through the Xbox your Cable Box) to your TV.

You can use all the features through your Xbox One, but you cannot control the Cable Settings or On-Demand menu from the Xbox (You have to use the cable remote). Honestly unless you're getting a Kinect I wouldn't even bother connecting it to your TV because without voice commands to watch TV I feel like it's an underwhelming UI since Oneguide tends to load really slowly for me.

Im bet they're some more exclusives coming out in 2015 that arent announced yet.

thanks to you both.

my downstairs set has 3 hdmi ports. currently occupied by wiiu, ps4 and my cable box/dvr. so by connecting the xobx and cable box I would only then feed one hdmi cable to the tv? meaning I would have enough ports to satisfy all the devices?

the info is greatly appreciated.

Current 2015 Exclusive list (Pulled from GAF for the most part):

-Halo 5

-Screamride

-Ori and the Blind Forest

-Fable Legends

-Cuphead

-Below (Xbox/PC)

-Rise of the Tomb Raider

-Happy Wars (Xbox/PC)

-State of Decay Year One Edition (Remastered game)

-Inside

-Forza 6 (Not announced, but you can definitely expect another Forza game)

-Quantum Break

Additionally while nothing has been said I expect the heavily rumored Gears of War Collection will be announced and release in 2015.

Yes that would work. The Cable Box goes to the Xbox One so your TV would have the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One connected to it and the cable box would be connected to the Xbox One.

kaz, thanks. that answered my biggest concern my game room upstairs has all of my other consoles hooked up or in the the closet. so being able to have all the new systems in one place will be big for me.

Also remember that Xbox does not have a bypass for cable so when you want to watch tv the Xbox must be on

Oh. I was unaware of that. I guess it makes sense being on the same output. Something to keep in mind for my wife.
there is a "boot to tv" option in the settings though. That way if your wife or kids turn it on, it'll go straight to the tv instead of the xbox dashboard. Xbox still has to be on, but they won't have to mess with the xbox or use the controller.
