Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Cool, I just read that the devs of Blade Kitten (anyone remember that game?) have gotten the publishing rights back from Atari and are planning a new DLC episode on Steam. I heard the game wasn't that good but it's still interesting news, plus it means it might finally get a decent discount.

Wow, that's great news.. I've been wanting to buy the Steam version but it's never had a good discount.

That Meteorite Bundle from IR isn't half bad for an IR bundle. Bleed, Arcane Worlds, Not the Robots & No Time to Explain have been bundled before. The high entry price seems to keep me away from IR for what one gets in return. $4.98 right now seems a bit too high for my Indie bundle CAG liking. I'm continually surprised at how many bundles they sell on average.

No Time To Explain is the only game that I've missed out on in the past and would want, but it's disappointing others have mentioned lag issues. It looks kind of fun in a silly time paradox randomness of hats and cake eating sort of way. Plus it has Steam cards! Must stay strong...

Edit: Apparently Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta - Episode 1 is right "up there with Ride to Hell Retribution in terms of hilarious incompetence and misery. It's one of those unique experiences that are so bad that you just have to see it for yourself." according to the most helpful Steam review.
It's a crappy IR bundle IMO. I think the only redeeming games in it are Bleed and Not the Robots. I played a few minutes of No Time to Explain and and while I didn't have lag issues, I thought the gameplay mechanics were terrible. Very annoying to play, I don't think I have the patience to get anywhere near finishing it. Arcane Worlds might be worth playing.. when it's finished. I was watching Carl play it and it looks like it's too early in development to get much enjoyment out of it. Maybe I'll get some guilty pleasure out of Unearthed.

The only game I actually want from that one is Bleed. I missed the bundle it was in previously. I had noticed a large upturn in the amount of Bleed giveaways on Steamgifts the last couple weeks & couldn't figure out why (still can't despite my google-fu). In my searches I did decide I kind of want the game.. So it's been something I've been looking at... but I'll be passing on this bundle as well.

I, too, am always surprised at how many bundles they seem to sell. I don't even know what the last bundle I bought from them was at this point. I do know that when I get an email announcing a new bundle I typically am not very excited when I open it & see the price and what they're offering.

Bleed is free if you have IGN prime this month. That would be why its all over steamgifts

Oh man. My friend got me that game as a joke. I beat it in less than an hour and a half. It can definitely be beaten sooner. It's so bad. Oh my god. There's a "stealth" mission where you are supposed to escape across rooftops to avoid being seen by cops. I missed a jump. Fell to the floor and the game considered me completing the mission.

There's also a chapter dedicated entirely to walking with two characters as they have a conversation. No action, just walking and talking.

I hate my friend.

I got Unearthed Episode 1 on launch and will definitively do the same when Episode 2 comes out. Its 2014 GOTY!

At least, unlike Ride to Hell, the devs actually give a crap and have been fixing many of the bugs and putting new features in.

No Time to Explain looks like something I might enjoy for the story but be aggravated by the gameplay. As far as I can tell, Arcane Worlds actually hasn't been bundled; it only appeared in a Groupees Spotlight. Not the Robots seems like it would be entertaining. Unearthed looks like a kind of indie Uncharted knock-off, which sounds right up my alley, which is why I've been eyeing it for a while. On the whole, I'd have preferred to get in at $3.99 but this still seems like a decent bundle to me.

I take the term "most helpful" with a 40-mm chunk of rock salt when it comes to Steam reviews. I read this particular review and the guy trashes the game but gives it a "recommended," which is a bit stupid. He says virtually nothing about the game itself beyond a simple comparison to Ride to Hell. Crzyboy88's review includes more detail about the length and some of the glitches he experienced so that is more helpful than the most helpful Steam review.

Game of the Year!

This is why we cannot have nice things... ;)

Also did we actually find out why the rats have human hands...? <- This disturbs me

So, it's a lot like the Ass Creed franchise, 4 then?
Tru Dat. Although for whatever reason it didn't bother me so much the first 1000 times it occurred in Ass Creed II -> Revelations, but it started to grate on me the 10,000 times it happened in Ass Creed 4. There's so little (meaningful) content on land in that game (not to mention an actual reason as to why the main character is or is not an "Assassin") and to waste it on tailing characters who yammer on (and you can't really listen to what they're saying because you have to stay in the dreaded "Cone of Conversation")....but "HEY, LOOK OVER THERE...PIRATES!!!!! A PIRATE SHIP!!!!!"....Oooooh, ahhhhhh....yarrrrrrrr, matey.

Eh, it hasn't really bothered me at all, to date. I abandoned the Assassins Creed franchise after I got about 85% of the way through II and got stuck on a ridiculously-difficult stealth mission, but there was a lot of that sort of thing there. I just accept that that is a part of the way the story is told in certain kinds of games (mostly things I classify as "action-adventures" for lack of any better way of going about it). It's a marginally more interactive way of advancing a narrative than simple cutscenes but in practical terms, it's basically a cutscene.

If I recall correctly (big IF), at one point in earlier games they didn't have the "Cone of Conversation" you had to keep up with? You just had to stay within range of the chars....who at some point would stop and become Basil Exposition and then move on....I guess I preferred that to having to jump rooftop-to-rooftop and listen to some conversation at the same time.

Did you ever make it to the flying machine missions? Those were some real winners (and by winners I mean rage-quit controller smashers).

Yeah, not a literal "cone" but you did have to remain within a certain radius.

Oh yes, I got past that, although it was irritating the first couple of times, rather like the races (most of which are fortunately optional).

i tag some of the games with their publisher but not all is in but now it shows 505 devolver and tripwire like publisher catalog.  and yes pasports i do says cats as  normal house pets

Gross. You know I'm pretty sure this is the one topic you might want to actually type in plain english for. There could be some serious misunderstandings involved.

Yeah. I almost had one of those for Valentines Day. Fortunately, backlogs don't deceive you or forget to tell you they just started being played last week.

You can already search by publisher, why tag it?
It's Tebow. No one knows why he does what he does. I doubt even he does and if he did he couldn't explain it in a way that makes sense. I'm actually curious and scared to see what sort of tags he would come up with.

On a serious note for a second though sometimes Steam has multiple listings for the same publisher written in just a slightly different way and is too lazy to ever merge the listings. *shrug*

Seems worth it for the DLC alone, but since I haven't touched the base game yet I'll pass for now.

I tagged Bene-toilet (I don't feel like looking up the spelling and accent marks) 2deep4u :p

The Not Shenmue isn't mine but I also saw that one.

*Edit to add: And yeah Valve are bunch of dense Pollyannas in an ivory tower for not realizing people would go nuts with these tags. Do they even use the internet?
