New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

That's awful good people of Irrational.

Speaking of the Feb 4, if anyone wants a mulliganish one, The Plan is free on Steam, takes about 5 minutes to finish, and gives you a shiny +1 to your Perfect Games count on yer profile (and on Astats).

I'm counting that, plus a couple of games where I finally got the last few achievements for 100% in addition to starts/finishes in Feb proper.
BLAMO! That's 2 finished in February! (The Walking Dead was my other) 1 more week to get 2 more...

Wait, do you have to start it in February, too???

Yeah, the point is to clear them from your backlog, it doesn't matter when you started em as long as you finished in Feb.

http://www.gamestop.com/browse/pc?nav=138c-162

Some decently cheap games, some of which activate on steam. (Tomb Raider for $5 for example)
In for THIS for FREE:

http://www.gamestop.com/pc/dlc/saints-row-iv-reverse-cosplay-pack/113773

{throws this key aside for when I get around to buying SR4 PC}

EDIT:

When I booted-up GameStop PC App, which ain't so nice that I got to use this program...

....It's kinda nice that when I added it to my cart it just added it to my account and I didn't have to do anything w/ it wanting to charge my CC for $0.00 or anything of that sort.

Not bad for Mensa Academy, but only 50% off. I'm also still waiting on a <$5 Syndicate.

seduce me finally in a bundle for 15 fuck ing dollars
That is some wild wacky stuff in that NSFW bundle. The cover of the Girlvert book is quite off-putting. I wanted to be more interested in the $1 tier, but the Animal Chuki music is horrible crap. I am interested in Vampire Hookers and Seduce Me but not for $12.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any banter over this:

ORION: Dino Horde $0.99 (or $0.75/each in a 4-pack) 93% off until the 27th ...and a whooping 36/41 on metacritic.
Got in on a 4-pack. <$1 is usually a good buy-point even for bundle fodder.

My 4 in Feb:

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - tremendously overrated game. I regret spending steambux on it, should have bought it in a cheap bundle.

DLC Quest - fun, little platformer

Dishonored - great game, if you are not trying to be a good guy. Sadly I couldn't manage to beat the fabular dlc, at least for now.

Antichamber - I enjoyed it way more than Portal 2. I'm really glad I went BTA with HiB11.

That pack is free on Steam store, free everywhere. I wouldn't install their shitty client to get it.

I'm about to grab GR Future Soldier, saw some videos and the game looks great. Any objections? I don't think I'll be playing MP, should I grab the deluxe version??

I only have the Regular Edition.

About the game:

Great = NO.

Good = YES.

My review for GR: FS - Single Player Campaign:

http://classic.xfire.com/blog/mysterd/4764767/

In short, for the SP portion:

If you expect GR:AW series style of gameplay (of controlling your squad-members), expect major disappointment.

Expect some elements of CoD (Russian storyline, modern warfare) + GoW (3rd person cover-shooter) + Splinter Cell (some stealth elements + missions) + putting its own twist on things - yeah, you might like it.

Story & characters = nothing special.

BTW - never touched the MP. Can't speak on that.

It's worth the $5 that I spent on it from Amazon DVG a while back, for the SP.

For some reason that damned game just won't go on a good deal. Either it's somewhere selling it at the $10 MSRP but not 75% off or it's somewhere selling it 75% off but never lowered the retail price to $10. I've been keeping an eye on it for ages.

My 0 for february:

Starbound
Bf4 mp
Rust
Titanfall beta

Maybe Titanfall can count as one. I did reach the max beta level, which took all of a couple hours.

I enjoyed Future Soldier a lot, surprisingly for many of the same reasons I enjoyed Conviction; it streamlines the series' gameplay down to its essence and the missions were a lot more engaging than past games. You might want to at least try some of the earlier games before playing FR, to better appreciate the leap forward and because I think it's hard to go back, but for $5 you can't go wrong.

Deluxe won't add anything of value to your single play experience. While I would recommend checking out the multi modes because they're fun (and the main game is even better in co-op), if you're only looking for SP content, Raven Strike is the DLC that expands the campaign.

It's pretty late for this (sale ends in 5 or so minutes) but wanted to say I just played the first two missions for Hawx and am having a blast so far!

I haven't played an arcade aerial combat game since Ace Combat 2 on PS1 so I can't compare it to anything more recent, but Hawx is basically exactly what I want in this sort of game; effortless controls*, the ability to pull of ridiculous maneuvers, and a really satisfying feeling when I blow enemies up. There's a neat leveling system where you earn XP for completing missions, special objectives, and killing enemies which unlocks more planes and weapons to outfit them with. I like the sense of progression it creates, and also that it extends to every mode in the game (not that I plan to play MP, but there is a co-op campaign mode which I know some might be interested in).

It still looks, sounds, and runs really good for how old it is (but as is always the case don't go too close to the ground or things start to get ugly), looks to have a good deal of content, and is just a lot of fun to play. There's some typical Tom Clancy story which is entirely impossible for me to follow (something about secret military operations, rogue PMCs, yadha yahda), but otherwise I've been very impressed and would recommend you pick it up if you've been itching for an arcade flight game (don't expect even a sliver of realism, it's not here), you could do a lot worse for $2.49.

*EDIT: forgot to mention my only real complaint so far; getting a 360 controller to work is a tad finicky. The game supports it just fine, but none of the button prompts will show up as 360 controls, so you'll have to either fool around with them until you learn what everything does, or remap them to your liking (which was what I did) if you want to play using a controller. There are of course keyboard controls (and I would assume it supports flight sticks) but I haven't tried those yet so I can't comment on how good they feel.

Apparently Hero Siege DRM free is being discontinued and removed from places where it was available.

Indie Game Stand has taken the DRM free version down based on the developers request and everyone who got in on that deal, even if they paid under $1, now should have Steam keys there.
Woooooooooow... check out the guy's comments on other stores:

"we are not interested in supporting IGS or Desura, steam just works so much better. Its always a big ass pain updating the game on other channels, we are trying to pull desura out anyway"

Absolutely mindboggling. If he has trouble updating the game for multiple channels then okay, but the way he went about it... He's definitely lost me as a customer.

So, why pull the old DRM-FREE versions then? That's silly.

If he doesn't want to update those - so be it! Just...leave those alone, un-patched!

I know that leaving DRM-FREE version alone and not-patching might piss a lot of people off, but it's better than his even worse solution to pull DRM-FREE version entirely!

What he could do - is when he cuts support off for updates on Steam-version and is totally DONE w/ that game, just update DRM-FREE version to the same Final Version as Steam-version.

This way - everybody (Steam crowd and DRM-FREE crowd) is happy!

Also, begs next question - Is Steam-version's EXE protected at all w/ CEG?

If it isn't - this really shouldn't be too much of a big deal to DRM-FREE fans.

It might annoy them they have to go through Steam to just initially get their files & updates - but the damn thing still would work, if they're having issues w/ Steam and want to get it to work w/out Steam going.

I've played every Ghost Recon game on PC. Only finished the first one and its expansions, but liked the AW 1 & 2 too (but never finished). I liked Conviction to, just because what you're saying.

I'll grab RS3 too, I have an itch for some tactic missions. Miss Swat 3 & 4 (too bad SWAT 4 isn't on GOG)

Edit: Missed the sale!!! Ok... next time. 2 games my backlog will be missing

I actually played and beat 2 times Seduce Me (got it from Amazon with some credit and other things). It's not horrible but the people in it are, it's notoriusly hard to win the game (I swear some of the games are confusing as heck, and near the end you have to win enough but not too much...yeah can't win by too much).

I actually really like My Girlfriend is the President in the same bundle. This was a funny, cute and fun game overall and a lot more lighthearted than some visual novels are. I would recommend that from that bundle more than anything else. Seduce me isn't totally terrible, but it verges on the bottom of being a bad game. The endings are terrible though, I supposedly got one of the best ones and it still felt like garbage. My Girlfriend is the President equals two thumbs up though!

It says 32 bit OS might not work... I think he lost you as a customer sometime ago. ;)

If you liked the GR type of tactical stuff in GR:AW, don't expect that in GR:FS - it ain't there, unfortunately.

One of my complaints about this game, besides story and characters are nothing great.

But, yeah - if you like some elements of like COD + Gears of War + Splinter Cell - it's worthwhile.

Especially if you can get it DIRT-cheap (i.e. $5 - which is what I paid for it).

Just...don't expect FS to be the best GR game made.

To me - it ain't GRAW, more or less.

Keep in mind, I have not played the very-old GR games made before GRAW.

Is this Bundle Material?
Do I look like Moobstradamus?

Do I regularly engage in bundle prophesy?

Have I complained about all the wannabe-bundle-prophets?

[customspoiler='Answer Key']No. No. Yes.[/customspoiler]

Negative. The point is the clear up some hard drive space.

/faceplam... those free DLCs are often free everywhere (and SR has had a few free DLC)... but if you really like being violated by the NON-DRM-FREE experience that is the GS client, then I'll just sit here and silently judge.

I've had GameStop PC App installed on my PC since the OLD Impulse days, back when Stardock owned it. Ain't a big deal to me, to just boot the program up.

Of course, if I knew ahead of time the DLC was free on Steam and it was actually on the DLC List, I wouldn't have added it from GameStop PC App.

Steam should really have a split section for FREE DLC + PAY-DLC, to make crap easier for us. It's already a pain in the butt sometimes, trying to check DLC Lists. Often, the numbers of items ain't the same from the game's whole DLC List vs. Complete Ed or DLC-Only Packs b/c Steam ain't counting/putting FREE DLC in the Bundle Packs. So then, you look at the entire DLC List and you realize, "Oh, free DLC ain't in the Bundle Pack! I can just add those on my own!"

It doesn't currently effect me b/c I don't own the game - but pulling a DRM-FREE version is stupid.

At least, he could leave it ALONE - and let them game owners keep it tied to their account!

I'm sure that modders, if they really wanted to, could find a way to take Steam-version updates - and somehow mod/patch them into the DRM-FREE version, if necessary.

I do understand it's easier & cheaper to support ONE-version w/ patches (i.e. Steam-version) - that's fine. He probably should've just went w/ this route and only supported Steam-version, from the get-go - if he didn't wanna patch a DRM-FREE version-up.

When he's done w/ patching the game period - since a DRM-FREE version's out there, he could always officially patch the Steam-version's final version right into the DRM-FREE version.

Oh and FWIW I checked and tried to run 'Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\HeroSiege\bin\Hero Siege.exe' while Steam was not running. It tries to call Steam but Windows User Account control brings up a prompt window asking if I want to let Hero Siege.exe launch Steam.exe.

However, if I say no to that prompt then Hero Siege still runs and I can play it but Steam does not get launched.

I guess after all this fuss it is still sort of DRM free, or at least DRM optional at any rate.

That's pretty sweet. :D

I'm a big fan of game's Steam-version initially not being riddled w/ CEG like that.

Best of both Steam + DRM-FREE worlds.

I'm all about options.

Nobody's gonna argue that he's lazy and trying to save money w/ testing both DRM-FREE + Steam-version. It makes sense to just test one-version here - i.e. Steam-version.

It's just he could've went about this much better and in much different ways, though - IMHO.

I've never bought from IG before, so I was wondering is their 2nd Tier going to increase in price? Or will it stay at $4.99?

I'm looking at Dysfunctional Systems, Hero Siege & Cubetractor atm.

TIP:

Far Cry 3 + Deluxe upgrade is cheaper than deluxe edition.

:D
I got the base and DLC separate on a previous sale and IIRC I had to take the UPlay key that Steam gives you, load the game up and enter it in the options there to unlock the deluxe stuff.

So I started playing Condemned Criminal Origins today...so far it's pretty crappy. Whatever potential the game has is pretty much ruined by the beyond clunky controls. I would stop playing if it wasn't such a short game. I'm probably about halfway through, may as well finish it and clear it out of the backlog.

Edit: Also, so far the story is beyond retarded. Your character is "framed" for a murder when a criminal kills the two cops you're with. The FBI assumes you did it, because they were killed by your gun, and there's just NO WAY a criminal could EVER get your gun from you, so you MUST have done it.

Also, apparently DNA/fingerprint testing isn't a thing in this game, which would clearly show your character's innocent.

I'm hoping there's a lot more to it than what's been shown so far.

For some reason Far Cry 3 is way cheaper in the UK:

Standard - £3.75

Deluxe - £4.99

Don't understand that. Particularly when Blood Dragon is considerably more expensive for us.

On FC3, I've been playing it on PS3 and I love it. It's a huge, open-worldy FPS with a lush paradise setting and a slightly silly storyline. There's been much chatter about it on these boards but it's all been mostly positive. I won't double-dip, but I AM tempted by Blood Dragon. Yet something tells me one day we might see a Humble Ubi bundle.

I need a responsible Mooby.
