I am having a hell of a time tracking down the Serious Sam Classics games, by the way. Found one guy who had them on SteamTrades, and offered him a game for it and he said the offer was way too high on my side. So I said, okay, well what else do you have to trade? And then he left. :wall:
When you say SteamTrades do you mean the CAG buy/sell/trade thread?

Oh, wow.

The FOV on Darksiders II is horrible.  Almost immediate motion sickness.

A quick search suggests that I need a 3rd-party utility if I want to change it.

Has anybody's SS HD: Second Encounter stuff popped up? My achievements don't even show under the profile section, and everything before and after that specific game was detected. I don't own the game, so I'm wondering if they're able to tell the difference between the free version and owning it.
Yes. Also know someone who doesn't own paid version who got rewards for it.

They do filter family shared games thought.

So I managed to finally hunt down the Classics, and ended up with a second copy. Anyone who wants to buy the pack from me (SS Classic: 1st Encounter, SS Classic: 2nd Encounter and SS Classics: Revolution) so they can get the rewards/games, feel free to PM me but only if you plan on actually adding the games to your account (aka not resell). Giving you guys first dibs before I take it to the trading thread.

My SS collection is shaping up pretty nicely now. I think I just need SS 2, and the DLCs for SS3 and SS: TSE HD.

Edit: Sold my spare. Thanks again Waggles!

You... technically don't need any of those. SS2 was a console game and mostly hated by SS fans (although I enjoyed shooting stuff anyhow). SS:TSE HD is just a nicer-looking version of SS:TSE, minus a couple of cool gimmicks, and a new mode or two thrown in. But if you're looking to collect more than just get the best versions of games... well then carry on!

I'm more looking to collect because they all look nice together in my Steam library. I already have TSE HD, I'm just missing the DLC for it (Revenge of the Beast). During a 90% off sale, everything I'm missing adds up to $3.50, so I might as well.

I had more fun in SS2 than I did with TFE, so if anything.. I'd recommend it over TFE.

You sure you don't mean TSE and not SS2?
I knew you'd ask that. Yes.. I haven't even played TSE, so I can't compare it to that. SS2 is just less dated which might be part of why I enjoy it more, and the graphics are more appealing to me (although I'm not a graphics whore).

Played both games with friends.. everything about SS2 was just more enjoyable.

Hey well, glad you liked it. I didn't hate it myself. It just gets tons of hate from most folks and it's the lowest reviewed of the three I mentioned. It's quite a bit different from the other games in the series as well, so people that like one don't always like the other.

Naturally, credit can't be used with the code, making the whole thing rather useless to me.

It can't? That sucks. BL2 GotY for $15 is a decent price too.
They nuked that whole gravy train a week or two ago. I'm pretty sure it still works on sale prices though, so I guess everyone will have to wait for an actual sale to use credit effectively.

Gravy Train stopped because of the [PC] at the start of the thread title... did you learn from the IG thread... shortly after [PC] got added to the title, Fox stopped hosting.  It's almost like you're wanting to ride this handbasket all the way to Hell.

I blame the console peasants. They frequently don't put their platform(s) in their thread titles (The bajillion Target threads for example) but as soon as a PC oriented thread crops up without PC in it they get their panties all twisted because they wasted 2 seconds clicking on it.

Actually it's mainly just the special promo coupons that you can't use credit with, the usual -20% one still lets you use credit.

Lame, no F2P or previous bundled game rewards today.

Oh well, got my plate full with Planet Stronghold/Sweezy Gunner/You Have To Win The Game/Serious Sam series/Swipecart/Saints Row: The Third anyways.

Incidentally, I had a pretty damn good time with Sweezy Gunner last night. It's pretty basic, but for some reason it reminded me of Toe Jam & Earl if it were a shooting game. The progression stuff is nice as well.

Crud. I want to play Sweezy Gunner (and Swipecart) but had problems with the reservation page when the reservation period was going and there seems to be no support for those that had issues.

For anyone wondering, the first three could be obtained in a couple of hours, max. Good luck on number four.

It dawned on me why I really think these Playfire rewards are stupid.  If I worked one hour of overtime just once, I'd make more money in far less time than even some of the shiver-me-timbers people have earned to date.  Not the hardcore yar types, but probably their first mates.

But, that's using logic, so I'll shut up now.

Yeah, as a money-making scheme it'd be a pretty poor choice. I personally view it as a motivator to diversify my gaming time; the side-benefit being a few bucks in credit.

Of course, I may be doing it wrong as I'm actually playing the games.

I decided not to spend real money on games this year after EC. I've kept to that, but Playfire and Steam cards and PSN promos have let me get quite a few games so far this year anyway.

Hooray, the bundle buyers win again. Always love getting free credit on bundled games. It's like a retroactive discount.

+1. This is pretty much exactly how I feel. Playfire credit either discounts the purchase of a game for me (I bought Darksiders 2 from someone the other day for $4.50, and made all that money back in rewards, and I get to keep DS2), or gives me incentive to plow through one of the many titles in my backlog.

No, I feel much the same about cards. I can waste enough time trying to play the card market and realize that I'm spending my home recreation time making $1.05 an hour. At least cards I can farm via SAM and sell cheap. The idea of feeling obligated to play games to make pennies kind of leaves me feeling like I'm better off not getting started.

Now if people are using it as incentive to play backlog games or something and enjoying the "playing game" aspect with this as icing then that's great. I just know that, personally, I'd start looking at it as "Man, guess I better play XYZ now or I'm gonna lose that dollar." So it's not so much "Playfire rewards suck!" so much as "Not a good fit for me".

If I like the playfire rewards game it rewards me for playing and gives me incentive to play such game from the backlog. I like them and sometimes the games are fun and you can enjoy your time with them (not talking about the SAMers).

I view PF rewards as if they're side quests. If they're relatively easy and I don't have to go too far out of my way to get them, I'll try and get them, but if its too hard or too time consuming, screw it, onto the next one. And like others have said, both this and steam cards have actually motivated me to play some games I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Last day for Sweezy Gunner rewards. I've gotten two so far, so I figure I'd say how they're gotten.

:

Collect 25,000 Gold is simple enough... collect 25,000 gold. You'll have to do this in the normal mode, not survival (unless you're pretty damn good). Note that you have to have 25,000 gold at once. You can't spend 5000 and get 20,000 gold after. This is kind of a pain at first when you want to upgrade and have to save, but if you grind some jobs (which consist of killing a certain type of enemies and finding a number of dropped items from them) that you get from shops, you'll hit 25,000 pretty quick.

TFYXJMe.jpg
:

Again, no real strategy to this one (Power Up) either. Just play through the game and make sure you grab every power up you get (which give you temporary abilities and change your bullets). You need 100, so it will be a fair bit before you get this, but if you're just playing through the game you'll get it soon enough.

:

Break It Down is kind of a pain. You have to destroy 250 breakable objects. Sounds simple, but you won't get the ability that makes your bullets break those objects until you beat the third boss, which won't take THAT long to get to, but it's certainly not a quick process. That said, once you have the ability, it looks like you can just go to this square on the map to find a bunch of breakable objects. Break em, leave the area, come back, repeat. Easy as pie.

Really fun game. Shame the achievements are so dull and all "do this x amount of times" basically.

If overtime consisted of playing video games, you'd have a point. Really this is playing video games so you can play more video games for cheaper or free. Hard to compare it to work.

Yeah, it's making me play games here and there that I wouldn't have played otherwise. In some cases (like with Monaco), I really don't like the game much, get the achievements, move on. With others though, I probably never would have played them otherwise and am really impressed with them. I wrote Sweezy Gunner off as a chintzy Greenlight game that only got through because of being involved with WGN, but damn, really fun and inventive game! I'm not the biggest fan of twin stick shooter sort of games, but combining those mechanics with Legend of Zelda style exploring, unlocking abilities, upgrades, etc? Really smart and fun game.

What play ? I dont play I idle till night time then I play my other games. It more fun to eliminate games to installed then playing game hehe!

Since we're posting guides, let me post some tips for the F2P nightmare that is "You Have To Win The Game".

Now I love platformers, but this one is far too unforgiving. Requiring a mixture of quick reflexes, muscle memorization, frame-counting and timing, this game puts SMB to shame in terms of difficulty (on YOLO mode though). Part of the problem is that a lot of it boils down to trial-and-error, as the controls are solid (outside of the wall-jumping, where the controls are terrible), but the hitboxes are fucked up in several places.

It's definitely a twitchy platformer in the worst way, and it would feel rewarding clearling certain areas, if you weren't immediately faced with another hurdle. Particularly in YOLO mode (as you can't even save, or pick the game back up, so it MUST be marathoned which in itself is a load of shit).

As noted above, the first two achievements are relatively simple (die once, easy, and get the last power-up). The main challenge lies in getting all the little money bags, but there are plenty of challenges in the way of the main mission.

Tips:

Achievement 1 - Just die. It's easy

Achievement 2 - Refer to this guide on how to do it nice and quick. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF_bJtUF2WI (The achievement unlocks at the fourth orb power-up thing)

Achievement 3 - This one's ridiculous, you can't die without starting the whole game over. Refer to the video I posted, but here's another big tip. Have ANOTHER copy of the game open (download DRM-free version here) and set on regular mode (where you can die whenever). Why? Because as I said, the game is largely trial-and-error. Use the game in regular mode to test our your jumps/learn the appropriate patterns and then replicate them in the Steam version when you've finally gotten it down 100%.

Even with this advice, chances are you won't be able to do it, but it's definitely a lot easier that way.

TL;DR. fuck this game, and fuck PlayFire for picking the worst achievement as the top-tier reward.

Kill 3rd boss achievement - 7.9% of players.

How is it even possible? You get an ability to break stuff after 3rd boss... 0_0

That happens with all Playfire achievements. This must be their plan getting people buy these buggy pieces of shit, no piracy needed.

Yeah, I saw that too... Shows that more and more people are douchin' it up.

Sweezy Gunner is pretty fun despite the bugs.
Like these ones?

(I actually haven't run into one glitch.)

The only bug I've run across is the full screen one. Basically the game freezes if you try to expand the window and there are no graphic options in game. Otherwise I've had a blast with the game. I'm only past the first boss you posted there, but I am close to unlocking the first two achievements and might even get the third one.

Not sure what other bugs MadJoki means. If this happens with every playfire game I don't think the games are buggy, I think people are just being pirates and using SAM to unlock crap not even in order.
