This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

The Season Pass for SR3 is just for online co-op ?
All of Saints Row 3 is just jump in and jump out co-op with the exception of Whored Mode, which i think you got to set up a lobby for. The season pass adds three story based missions that can each be beaten in an hour or less and I think some kinda cosmetic pack.

Is the DLC for PvZ GW Xbone installed as part of the 2.9GB patch when you first install the game?

I'm not seeing a listing for it in the store on the console. (the DLC, that is)
I'm pretty sure DLC is added with patches. I've never had to download something separate.

I wouldn't buy another MS system if both Nintendo and Sony both discontinued all production and did a full recall tomorrow.
You're such a liar but it's OK, I still love you.

So, both the Mass Effect and Skyrim Mash-Up DLCs for Minecraft are on sale for 25% off ($3). This is the first time either of them has been on sale, and may possibly be the best discount we end up getting on them (though I could see them going to 50% later on), so go grab them if you're interested.
Bleh, guess I'll buy em now before it turns out to be a 2 day sale and I miss them.

Xone's patched in automatically since it's required, not sure about 360.

On a happier note for my backlog, I almost done Gears 1. I got it when I bought Gears Judgement but never got around to finishing the game. One more act left and I will have finally played the whole Gears series!
There are still people playing the campaign online. If you need help with the final act, make sure to set your game to Xbox Live and public.

I honestly had no idea Halo: Spartan Assault was released already. It was completely under my radar. I see it got crappy reviews, but I'm still looking forward to downloading it this June. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood looks interesting. I wouldn't pay money for either of these games, so it's nice to get them with GwG.

But it would be really nice is Microsoft ever included a GwG game that I didn't already own AND that I was also planning to purchase some day.

So you're saying there's a chance...?

I was kinda hoping on seeing cosmetic DLC sale for SR3, since I already beat the game to death with the season pass as well but I still miss some cosmetic things. Also no sale on SR4, just SR2 for 18 Euros in Europe. Screw that price, it's been way lower than that even in Europe.

Is the Black Ops 2 Season Pass worth it, price wise?
That depends on how much you play the game. It gives you 16 high quality multiplayer maps, some of the best ones of the whole game, and plenty of people online use them. Also it gives very different zombie experiences: including a western one and a WWI steampunk one, truly unique stuff and very different from any other zombie map. If you want to play alone, maybe the Pass isn't that great of a deal, since zombie maps lose a great deal if not played with friends. If you've got company, it's a lovely season pass, probably the best one in any COD so far.

I am sold. :p

Oh, and I kinda promised to post my tips and info on Saints Row 3 again when it becomes free. Here goes, again:

A couple tips, advices and facts from someone who bought the base game back at launch along with the season pass, and completed game and DLCs 100% (both game-wise and achievement-wise). The game is not extremely long (it's an open world game so you'll likely be messing around, but we're talking less than 40 hours if we don't count that), plus 6 more hours or so for the DLCs. The DLCs, as hilarious and awesome as they were, were hardly worth the full price (talking about the campaign ones, the small weapon & skin ones don't really matter), since they really are like 1.5-2 hours each for 100% completion. If they'll be on sale for at least 50% they are recommended though, also for the cheevos.

The game is not really difficult. At first you'll have massive troubles getting gangs out of the way, since you're quite weak with limited weaponry against giant armies. Same goes for some of the collectibles and stuff: if you approach these things early on, you will have issues because your character is far from powered up and not having the best weapons and vehicles yet. In fact, as you progress, you can upgrade your character (plus unlock all kinds of OP weaponry). I advice AGAINST upgrading your character fully when it comes to health and ammo especially. Why? Because the final upgrades literally make you immortal and with unlimited bullets. That is fun, as it'll be like playing a wacky GTA with cheats, but if you want to have some kind of challenge in an already fairly easy game, my personal advice is to wait out with the best upgrades 'till after you're done with the missions, and you're merely planning to screw around from now on.

Achievements. No missable achievements except for one that requires you to play a certain mission twice (but needs a new game to work, so either you backup your save or you start a new save where it'll take you 1 hour or so to get to that part again), everything else is fairly easy to pull off. A couple are time-consuming but I managed to do every single achievement and 100% completion without ever accessing a guide - and this still in the 40 hours or so needed for the base game. Just play at your own pace and liking, enjoy the messing around, and don't worry, you'll have time (and better equipment) to get all the achievements down the line if you don't unlock them while you play.

What else to say? If you never played SR3 and SR4, you did not play anything like this. Not even SR2 comes close to it. This is GTA on all kinds of drugs. The storyline is downright bonkers, some of the things you have to do are beyond anything you've done in videogames (not even gonna spoil anything, I'll let you find all the surprises, as there are plenty in both the base game and the DLCs). The soundtrack is great and very varied: you've got fairly standard pop, electronica and rap, all the way to pretty badass metal stuff like Between The Buried And Me - you'll likely find stuff to your liking. There's an impressive character customization, tons of insane weapons and vehicles, and many things to do. The only downside is the lack of proper multiplayer, but if you've got a buddy, the coop is great fun - just don't expect the kind of grand scale multiplayer you see in GTA V for example.

And if you find yourself on the fence about DLCs: the 3 campaign DLCs give you achievements, in some case new areas, wacky new things to do and more. If on sale, as said, they're worth it. If you're a completionist, all the extra weapons, skins, vehicles, etc. are worth considering, do keep in mind however that if you happen to like the game very much, you have good chances of finding the Game Of The Year edition cheaper than you could buy all the DLCs for, even if they happen to go on sale. Keep that in mind, before a DLC shopping spree. Lastly, if you enjoy(ed) the game, right in May comes out the Game Of The Century edition for Saints Row IV - it is more of the same, almost identical gameplay, except even more bonkers. The 30 bucks it starts off for the base game and all DLCs is definitely a solid price of admission if you can't get enough of Saints Row 3, because the 4th one indeed feels like a giant DLC, because graphics, gameplay, menus, etc. make it seem like it's SR3 all over again.

Well I usually order from ebay, I always keep the game cases so that its an even cheaper buy the second time around, lol.

Any where else I should be looking?
Wouldn't really know if you're in the US, but I saw BO2 in Europe for 10-20 Euros multiple times. Given how our prices suck ass usually, I'm sure there's been better in the US, though probably not at GS.

It's actually maintained a $30-$40 dollar price from what I know. Amazon has it for $40 right now. Microsoft has it for 24.99.

Would rather snag it on ebay for $14, lol.

Thanks for your opinion on the DLC again though. :)

14$ is solid, considering you're also shelling 25 for the pass. 40$ or so for the whole package is definitely worth it, it is basically the best, most balanced and most varied COD on market right now.

That picture looks beautiful. Holy shit. I'm digging it already.

So by reading the article Halo 5 is set for release next year (which is good, means they've had 2-3 years of dev time instead of 1-2 if it released this year). They said they had something for this year to announce at E3 though, so it's probably going to be Halo 2 Anniversary.

I'm surprised they'd blow a Halo 5 announcement before E3 though.. what are they doing?

So by reading the article Halo 5 is set for release next year (which is good, means they've had 2-3 years of dev time instead of 1-2 if it released this year). They said they had something for this year to announce at E3 though, so it's probably going to be Halo 2 Anniversary.

Definitely want some Halo this year (Spartan Assault was fun enough imo, but I want a real Halo!), I've put a lot of time into the franchise and it's easily one of my favorites. Definitely digging the style and can't wait to see what's at E3.

I would love for Halo 2 Anniversary to hit this fall/winter with a full online built into it, would be a nice way to help refine/test the new engine out as well.

I think they just wanna get people hyped before E3, and showing a bit of Halo and saying there will be more to show definitely has me interested, it's weird to see them do it but I'm hoping that this really does just mean that they have a real lot of stuff to tell us at E3 and that they need to get some of it out now already.

That's probably the idea, which I think works great. But yeah, Fall/Winter 2015 should be enough time for the game to be in the oven. I'm hoping they learned from all of Halo 4's mistakes. We'll see.

MS sure has me wondering. They already dropped some massive bombs before E3: no more mandatory Kinect, lower price, Games With Gold on X1 too, an extra game in June for both systems, Halo 5, new GOW in the works... really makes me wonder what kind of stuff they'll show at E3 if this is their warm-up. Some of my bets, besides multiplatform stuff? Halo 2 HD gameplay. Halo 5 CGI trailer. Forza Horizon 2. Mention of the new Gears Of War. More on Sunset Overdrive. Details on what kind of (timed or otherwise) exclusive stuff they'll have on the new COD. Some Titanfall stuff. Couple new X1 bundles, new apps, new services... and at this point, barely any Kinect I suppose? They could even announce Rare is working on something non-Kinect...

Peter Molyneux embraces M$ again and announces Fable 4, and promises it will change gaming and life as we know it.

Hmm that's perfect timing for me on Halo 5, that's when I was thinking I will buy a new console. I can prob get a halo console bundle in fall 2015 now

Even Nintendo has begun showing some of their E3 cards. From more Wii U Sports games leaks via Japan, to games releasing in the 2014 window during their investor meeting(Yarn Yoshi, X, Bayonetta 2) and even their NFP platform(like Skylanders and Disney Infinity) which could really bring the Wii U out of the depths of last place in the console race this gen. Time will tell what they'll show off at E3 though

Definitely pumped about the upcoming E3. I have pretty high expectations for Microsoft and Nintendo... although I'm destined to be disappointed. Here's to hoping Microsoft reveals something big for the Xbox One! :D

Is Saints Row The Third not free just yet? I'm getting errors trying to grab it where XBL says my CC info couldn't be retrieved even though everything seems to be correct on my end.

For the most part E3 has become like April Fools day to me. Something that fills the internet, is completely untrue, and I wish would just go away.

It is free. I had the same problem yesterday but I had just renewed my Gold. I exited and went back in and it came up as free and dl it and Dust.

It was showing for free, but just errored out at the purchase screen. I just went to the site for the second time, which finally let me grab the game.
