I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

i asked one person working back in the games today and they had no clue what a discount was.... Ummm discount on games never heard of it?

i think im going to sleep early after family guy and getting up at 2am central and checking ever hour for the Webpage to update : ) monday should be a fun day at work if i do this cause i will only have 3 hour sleep

I'm going to be at BB early tomorrow. I just hope the one Ys is still at the Northcrest BB. I remember seeing only one copy there a few weeks ago. I'm also hoping for Growlancer and Otogi 2.

I'm probably not going to pick up any of the others. I don't want to pick up games just for credit. There's only a few that I need.
 
My BB probably won't have much, so I want to get there when they open. I'm guessing they open around 10 on Mondays? I tried to check at BestBuy.com, but the Store Locator is down right now.

y is gone someone ordered it off the webpage today and its being held on special order (already check) They are out of growlancer at northcrest and someone has already said they grabbed the last copy at appleglen

WOw. Very nice. Good thing I go school tommorrow in the morning and then I can go to BB in the afternoon. Better have the game I want. I think Imma spend like $50.

Do you know of anywhere else that has Ys and would price match? I doubt CC has any of those. I'd guess that EB and GS won't. Would game crazy?
I'm still going to northcrest for otogi 2.

im still going tomorrow as well cause they had to pull some of the gamecube cames cause the section was empty.. i pm a Best buy flyer at eb i dont know about webpages.. maybe sears??.,... CC wont cause they wouldnt touch that drum set for 19.99
 
Went to BB this morning when they opened, and they did not have one title on the list. Is it possible they pulled them for tomorrow?
 
Went to the Colma BB, I saw no signs of Y's on the shelves or any other game that was on the list, so I asked an employee to find me a copy. The employee told me, all of the games on the list were moved to the 50% off bin. No luck here, seems like everyone went ahead and bought all the good games to be price adjusted tomorrow. Damnit.:cry:

Would Circuit City pricematch stuff without an ad or something though? I mean, I know that I could find a lot of the games there, I'm just not sure about the success of doing a price match.
 
Am I the only one who finds the habit of buying things before they're on sale then returning them and rebuying to be kind of shady? To each his own, I guess. I'll be cruising local BBs tomorrow morning.

I don't think so. These are old titles... most stores no longer have 90% of what is on this list.

Not really. Most stores like BB or CC have a price adjustment period where if you buy an item and it's cheaper within, say, 30 days, they'll credit you the difference. CC just did it for me on a video recorder I just bought and was cheaper the next day.

Out of 5 stores in my area only 1 had a copy of Growlanser -
Decided to make my purchases today and price adjust tomorrow.

Bought the only Growlanser (PS2) that I found, LOTR The Third Age (GBA), Bloodrayne 2 (XBOX) and a couple of others. Did not see any Ys or Bard's Tale (already have anyway)

I went today and the only thing I found that I sorta wanted was 1 copy of Y's. I was looking foward to SRS for $5. My store had lots of monoply, final fantasy 1&2, astro boy(gba), and eyetoys. I didn't look at X-Box or Cube, cus, I don't have either. I'm pretty sure somebody was there before me though, cus there were a few games hiding, in other places. If this sale goes online, I'd surely want to pick up some stuff.

I don't think anybody is actually waiting for tommorow, lol. Everybodys pretty much buying what they want now and pricematching later.
 
i'm hoping that they would still have paper mario when i get there tomorrow... if they don't have it i'll prolly break down and pool out the $35 for a new copy at amazon/TRU.

i checked my best buy, Nothing on the list visible at all...did remember seeing many of those games a day ago on the shelf. Checked the area in the back didnt see any carts or any sign of the games. makes me wonder if they are sending them back to the manafacturer?

can tell you know paper mario 2 wont be grabbed Its discountined here and the upc has been taken out of their datebase.

im sure youre not the only one, i personally have no problems with it though, its the best way to get what you want.
 
Yeah, I KNOW for a fact they had Y's at my Best Buy, but now the Availability thing says it's not there. I want Y's, Paper Mario, Growlanser, MGS: Twin Snakes, Zoo Keeper, and FFAnthology. If anyone can find those I'll pay cost+shipping, and maybe a bit more. I'm in school until 3 (damn you High School!) and I know other CAGs that live in MI will probably snag all of those before I can get there. I would really appreciate someone picking up those games for me. I've got a nice non-GH Castlevania: SotN to trade for some of them. Or maybe a minty fresh Legend of Mana, perhaps? :D

Yeah, I saw the Gowlansers, I hate dealing with PMings, so I decided to take a chance a hope its still there tommorow.

did you see/get any copies of resident evil outbreak? Noho is like a 30 min train ride and i was too lazy to head over there.

I wish they would mark down that stack of Phantom Braves they got.

Yeah, did anybody else notice that some of these games seem to have vanished from the shelves? I remember lots of those games being there a few days ago, and when I went, most of them were gone. Anybody know anything about this?
 
It's gonna be a hard time sucking up my dislike of Best Buy in order to score one or two cheap games... all the good stuff will probably be gone by the time I get out of work tomorrow anyway... shucks, I haven't even cracked open a couple of games I scored from Circuit City's big blow-out a while back!
