FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
Yeah, did anybody else notice that some of these games seem to have vanished from the shelves? I remember lots of those games being there a few days ago, and when I went, most of them were gone. Anybody know anything about this?
yeah I figured they pulled them, but judging from the posts here, most of the NYC CAGS beat me to the punch today, so its probably a no for the most part unless they really do plan on retagging everything.

yeah, I def. saw a decent amount of Ys when I went home LD weekend, and from my understanding they're all gone now :( It's most likely employees, not a big conspiracy or anything.
Another big sale while I'm in Japan. What's up with that?
I'll trade you one semi decent sale with sold out games for a trip to japan, eating great sushi, buying mangas and anime, going to Akihabara and checking out japanese hotties.

Deal? ;)

I just hope you can PM tommorrow for those of you who picked up the game early. I figured they might consider it a sale/clearance and therefore not pricematch it.
Damn BB item locator isnt working.

How am I supposed to make my rush for list?
store thing hasnt been working for over an hour... im not going to worry about it since i just placed my order online

Growlanser Generations and Ys the ark game.... if they dont price match i will just return them.. Nothing else i would even want on the list since none of them are in store and none of them are really worth 8 to 12 bucks each (after shipping..
I just hope you can PM tommorrow for those of you who picked up the game early. I figured they might consider it a sale/clearance and therefore not pricematch it.
Its a different clause of their price matching policy:

If you find a lower price on BestBuy.com or at another Best Buy store either at the time of your purchase or within 30 days of your purchase, we will refund you 100% of the difference. The extra 10% of the difference does not apply. (Web exclusive offers advertised on BestBuy.com are not eligible for price matches.)

No real exclusions within BB.

I'm sad to say, but I believe that a lot of CAGgers out there are going to get/feel burned by this deal. First off, BB sucks and one should never trust their wonky ass, craptastic, store locater for their products listed on their site. I did, went to the store and they barely had anything. Just a bunch of games most people don't want, i.e. Cabella, Ford Racing, etc. I also had one of the nice enough employees due a search of Vegas for most of the sought after items like Ys and Growlanser and suddenly not a single store has one. I thought for sure a couple weeks ago there was still a Growlanser at this BB. Did a search for a bunch of other items and most are not anywhere to be found. I might be overtly pessimistic at the moment (only way to prove me wrong is to see how events unfold tomorrow), but I don't think this will be that good of a deal, so guys don't get your hopes up of another CC sale like last year or even earlier this year. While there though, I did learn from this employee that usually they only receive two shipments, one on a Tuesday and one a Friday, but this week they received a third on Saturday and were trying to count and get through all of it today so there may still be hope, though in my mind it is dimming since he said that any of the games that I had him search for would have already come up in the stores inventory, since all they were doing was just counting up quantities of items to make sure that they had received the right number.

Still, I did see that they are getting Rebelstar: Tactical Comman for $19.99 which is supposed to be a pretty tough to find GBA RPG. I'll be for sure GGC it at least tomorrow. Here's to everyone find at least something tomorrow.

I'm afraid about buying them online because I know with my luck i'll walk into BB and they'll end up never having the sale so instead of about $80 worth of games i'll end up having to pay $384 + S*H

That would suck SO BAD.

just return them all say you were wasted and got all of these games :)

i think im going to check the webpage around 3am 5am and 7am tomorrow

WOW!!! Thanks for that list..looks like im going to have my dad pick up me 10 titles..for all of them..its about $50 bucks!!! This is going to feel like Christmas..10 games for UNDER the price I pay for 1...makes me feel kind of important. ALL BB stores are doing this deal right? And would there be any not on the list..I would hate to miss a few good buys..

I hope my BB still has the good stuff when I get there. I've got classes until noon, which will be the earliest I can get there.

sorry if someone has already said this (but i dont have patience to read 29 pages, lol.

is there a limit to how many of one game you can buy?
That's good. Now we have to make sure that the prices actually change for tomorrow. I would assume you'll get a full refund on shipping if you return the items or do you get screwed on that?
You can return them in store and get everything back.

How much can they sell in 2 hours?..to bad walmart isnt doing this..I would be up there at midnight..haha

Excellent. I might just do that and drive around tomorrow morning just in case.
go figure, im WAY broke.............
I'm the opposite, I just got a $75 BB gift card in the mail. I was signing up for Road Runner cable modem anyway and noticed that BB had this offer to get a $75 card if you ordered it through them!

Unfortunately, I'm very pessimistic about this deal. Sounds like they may have pulled the games plus FatWallet-hoarder types might wipe out whole stores in a single visit.

I'll go at noon (earliest I can make it) but I bet I won't see a single game I want.

Which is why I'm just doing the online route. If that doesn't work, oh well, and I go on with my day.

Won't they sell out instantly online?

I want a lot of stuff from that. I wasn't around for this before, I don't know how this works, but..

I live in Canada, and thus am exempt from this deal. If I gave someone full price for each the game + taxes, + shipping, how much extra would I have to give someone to get the games for me? I assume last time this happened someone made the same request I am, so if someone could let me know, I could compile a list and see if anyone wants to make a few bucks helping me out.
Won't they sell out instantly online?
Indeed, which is why I ordered my stuff today and hold them to their own PM policy, and I posted the link on a prior page.
Won't they sell out instantly online?
That's why he ordered them already, as did I.

If they drop the online price, my order is already processed, all I have to do is call them for a price adjustment.

Narrowing down the list I either own it already or have no real interest in it outside of being cheap, all the same i'll go anyway when they open for the one or two that caught my eye.

Thanks for the heads up!

BB is fairly close to my house. I will be there with a list and a stack of $5 bills(figure of speech) when they open tommorrow.
You can return them in store and get everything back.
they don't refund shipping if you decided you no longer want the item, only if you got the wrong item or if it was defective
So what are the chances of Best Buy restocking for this sale?

I'd wager it as slim to none.
why would a store restock old games they cant get rid of?
why would a store restock old games they cant get rid of?
Figured they would ship some of the excess out of the warehouses to stores... anything $10 dollars and under sells no matter how shitty it is.

But if they actually do switch the prices online, problem solved.

I do remember during one of the Circuit City clearance sales, some stores actually did get more product in over time.
So what are the chances of Best Buy restocking for this sale?

They've done it before, though the amount they restock makes it disappear quickly.
they don't refund shipping if you decided you no longer want the item, only if you got the wrong item or if it was defective
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking would happen with my luck. I'd buy $170+ worth of video games online but BB (with my luck) probably would end up not changing the price online and instead I get stuck with returned games but having it cost me $15+ in s&h. D'oh!

Bought the 3 games I really wanted online to PM, I'm willing to chance it for $6 in S&H fees. I will still be doing some hunting tomorrow just in case though.
sorry if this q? been asked before on this sale, is this a ymmv or is online buying included?
Here it is straight from the very first page of the post:

They've done the price drops both in-store and and online in the past, though why wouldn't they drop the price online, which would allow them to clear out inventory from the store level and the warehouse? They'd have to ship it through the stores to get rid of it, which seems like a waste of effort when they could just ship directly from the warehouse.
