CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
thats werid. i ordered Grow and Ys around 5pm central and both of them shipped, i wonder why yours went backordered .. also check your order status they said the discount comes off automatic so you might not have to call...
I think it's BB just telling me that they can't do a single order for shipment without fucking something up.

Oh, and here's a new one.

They said that as the orders get credit card authorization from the bank, they're started through the shipping process. By that same thought, they just made it out that my bank is slow on the uptake, and yours isn't. I told them that I know of people that had their items ordered after mine have their items shipped, which didn't make a lick of sense to me.

I think in the last six orders they've shipped out to me, there's been something wrong with each and every one.

Plus, the rep who I set them up the request for the credit closed out the request without doing a single thing at all for it. Which was a blatant lie. Damn glad I called them and checked into it, since I would've been fucked out of my $60 + tax on the four items that did ship. We'll have to see if I do get my credit by week's end, and if I ever get Growlanser & Ys.

One of the few games available at my Best Buy was Silent Hill 4 for the XBOX. I would much rather have it for the PS2. Anyone willing to trade?

XBX - Crash: Twinsanity $4.99
XBX - Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf $4.99
XBX - Midway Arcade Treasures 2 $4.99
XBX - Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Acade... $4.99

if anyone would be so kind as to help me out... it would be awesome! PM me
I don't want to go through 90+ pages or do a search..

But do you guys know when will this deal ends?
When the games run out. Best Buy is just trying to clear space for all the games coming out this fall along with making room for the X360. I wouldn't doubt that there will be another wave of clearance soon.

No Joy in CT.

Stopped by my local BB B&M and they had a table set aside away from the games marked Clearance, but everything on the table was only marked down to $9.99. The had a stack of XB Incredibles games, all marked 9.99. I asked one cashier to check the price and she just looked at it and said its $9.99. I went to another cashier in the back of the store and she was willing to scan it, but of course it still came up $9.99. They also had Spyro a Heros Tale for XB 9.99 and GC NBA Street 2 and NFL Street both going for $9.99 each - so no good sale in CT.

Thanks anyways.

Both of these are still online a BB.com. The price list is $9.99 each, which is what the actually price was in the stores. Unless you begged and pleaded with a BB store person, those games were not $4.99.

got this today from best buy

credit has been applied to your purchasing credit card for
the drop in price of both of your items. Your lending institute will
receive notice of this credit within the next 24-48 hours. It may take 2
to 3 billing cycles for the credit to appear on your billing statement.
If you have questions regarding your credit please contact your lending
institute for more information.

hope someone didnt go CRAZY buying up a lot of games thinking they could do the price match on monday cause it seems it could take up to 3 months for the credit to appear on the credit card

Other than that, this sale is lukewarm for me. Nothing I can't live without on this list. Instead I might just go by BB just to get a Taiko or two for PS2.

Man... I don't check the site for a few days and I miss out on this.

But, I noticed that Ty 2 GBA and Scaler PS2 were still in stock so I got them for my wife (she loves run and jump games).
I don't think so, its a fine novelty product but I like the Donkey Konga set the novelty wears pretty thin. In my mind 10-15 would be about the limit for me.
it depends on if youre a rythem gamer or not, i mean the same could be said for all rythem games, but i HIGHLY reccomend this game, its obviously not for everybody, but i think you should be able to tell if a drum game is your thing or not.

That's BS about it taking 2-3 billing cycles. A credit card company will apply it to your card as soon as it shows up, though the statement that is attached to that credit may take a statement cycle to show up.

Watch your card at the end of the week. I'm sure it'll be there. I know that's what I'm doing.

guess i will wait til Paper Mario 2 hits 20 bucks or so someplace else :| god why can't Nintendo port more of there games to the PC...there IS A MARKET FOR PC GAMES!!

any other Northern VA cagers wanna speak out or do you have a gag order on you?
I've only been to the three around my house (there's four but I don't want to pay for parking at the Pentagon one). All three: Potomac Yards, Springfield and Bailey's X-Roads are wiped out. I managed to snag a Tak 2 for XB $10, an SRS for $10, there's plenty of Cabela for $10 (I passed on that). All the cheaper games are nowhere to be seen.

Edit: for anyone in the area who wants to PM Paper Mario (or at least try) at CC, the CC at Bailey's X-Roads has over 10 copies of Paper Mario for GC (but I have found that the employees there are asses).

Yes. Especially if you like Godzilla movies.
Hey I am curious about this Godzilla game now. Are any new Godzilla games supposed to be coming out soon? I just don't want to buy this game now, only to see "Godzilla: Stomp the World" announced tomorrow. If there isn't a new one over the horizon then I'll probably just get Save The Earth.

No luck in Commack or Huntington, NY, I don't think they had a single game on that list, although I really was only targetting Paper Mario and HP. They didnt even have those tags that separate the games for them, let alone copies...

Then even worse was I saw they had HP online but I said I wanna check the stores first, and when I got back HP was sold out, guess it just wasn't meant to be. My question though is if I print out the page from Best Buy's site with the price tag of 4.99 on HP and bring it to CC, will they match?

Nintendo sux at dropping prices. They will hold on to their dear mario games ex. MK: DD and PM2 till the very end till they drop those prices.

They can, but don't wish to; it would dilute the brand.
And paper mario was $20 with a $20 gift voucher at ebgames 3-4 months ago (so I effectively only paid tax, so there).

So, they suck at making less money than they could have? Oh no, don't tell the shareholders.

You just suck at waiting.

Did anyone else notice any supplementary sales going on in addition to the markdowns? The Sanford, FL store had a sub-section of the marked-down games (plus some other clearance games) in a plastic bin. If you bought 2, you saved an extra 5%. Buy 3, save an extra 10%. Not a great deal itself, but when stacked with the markdowns and the coupon you could get some of these games for even cheaper ($10 becomes $9, minus $5 McD coupon = $4).

to my suprise when black friday hit in 2003...not only did i pick up my first game cube (still in use today) at best buy for about 60 some bucks (priced matched from walmart), but microcenter had Mario kart:DD for 25 some bucks and the game came out a week before!!!! Best buy priced matched them with no problems...it was worth the 2 hrs waiting in line to get run up just to get the cube and this deal. Can always wait for it to be Player's Choice right?
I doubt CC will pricematch, since it says "sold out" on BB page
I priced matched Final Fantasy I&II at my Circuit City in Daytona Beach. They also undercut Best Buy by a few bucks so it ended up being 8 something.

its like waiting 2 freaking years after the sims 1 came out for it to finally drop a notch...seriously 50 bucks for 2 years...popular or not company's need to get there act together.

Save the earth is already itself a sequel. It's the second Godzilla melee game to come out. I have the first one on xbox and it's a great party game. Stupid for single player, but great party fun.

Got the last Final Fantasy for gba 9.99, got two GTA's for gba 9.99, two Shaman king for gba 4.99, and max payne II for 9.99. They had a few games from the list but werent marked down and half of what the site said the store had they didnt, harvest moon for gc wasnt marked own and neither was hotwheels for ps2.

I went last night to a BB in Dayton, OH and found very very little from the list.

Paper Mario $9.99 (only 1 left!)
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life $29.99
The Incredibles (XBX) $29.99

I got the 1 game I really wanted, thankful I let the $20 EB Games deal go by. But still dissappointed that they didnt have but a few games and even those were NOT on sale.

Trust me... here at our Mobile location, there was little of anything...
LOTR 3A for GBA 9.99
GTA for GBA 9.99
Future Tactics .99 (I got the only one there)

I saw an intellivision lives for GCN (already have it for PS2)
They had alot of the games originally listed for 4.99, that ended up being 9.99... but none of the really good 9.99 games (FF 1&2, Growlanser, Y's)

The developers of Save the Earth and Destroy All Monsters Melee are working on the new Rampage game, so I don't think we'll see another Godzilla game for a few years.

I haven't heard of another sequel to the game at all. It's a great party game, too for up to 4 players. The single player game is really lame, but the fun is in fighting as the monsters and playing against friends in person or on XBL.

As stated two pages ago, the games will be these prices until they sell out of them.

Everyone, please at least try to skim the first page and the last three pages before you ask a question that has most likely been answered many times before.

I believed this is the permanent price for these games because they want to make room for PS3 & Xbox 360 games.
Does anyone know how long this clearance is going to last?
Why would you even ask? It's very unlikely something's still available anywhere, and what's available today might not be tomorrow. Were you going to wait until the last day of the sale?

Yager just shipped for me. I ordered just before 4AM yesterday. Silent Hill 4 for Xbox is still being processed, but it hasn't been backordered yet. I may be willing to trade Silent Hill for Otogi 2, or possibly MK: Deception KE. If anyone is interested, I'm just a PM away.
Does it only appear if you scan to buy, and not price checking?
Not sure what you mean. If by price checking you mean you ask an employee to check the price, its the same as scanning it to buy it. If you mean are the prices listed around the games, then the answer is sometimes, depends on the store you go to.

Anyone think Two Towers is worth $10? It's either that or I get it from EB used for $6. Or I wait for the Target near me to have another price drop in clearance (it's currently at $10.68)

I say wait. You know me from the GR thread - I preorder and keep just about EVERYTHING, but this game I played about halfway through and then dumped at GR back when I first started GR trading. It is one of the few games from my collection that I got rid of. For $5, get it - not $10 though. Like you said, get ROTK instead. I haven't played that yet but will someday. Basically it is a button mashing combo fighting game where you have to get all these perfect combos to get good scores. I hate those kinds of games. Now if you like that sort of thing, go for it :D.

Oh, by the way, I went to the Springfield, VA Best Buy (which someone said had nothing) today (Tues). Sure, they didn't have anything GOOD, but they did have many of the sale items - I saw one Catwoman, and 1 Magic Battlegrounds. They also had GC Two Towers, Xbox Bard's Tale, and MAT2 for Xbox, and a few other things. I picked up Simpsons Road Rage for Xbox and Scaler for PS2, used a $5 PS2 coupon, and got the pair for $5.24 total. So I call total BS on any cashier who says the "computer" won't let them take the coupon for $4.99 games or clearance items (yes, the fine print says no clearance but nothing stops them at checkout!). As always, just pair it up with a game that isn't free :D.
