I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

You know... I think this thread is so huge not because the sale is so great, but simply because it has been the most confusing clearance sale in recent memory.

And as of now, four of my items ordered yesterday morning are still InProcess, geeze...
 
Oh, and here in Towson, MD there is nothing left at all. I went yesterday and saw a shitload of hoarders grabbing all the good deals. I managed to snag THUG (GC) and GTA: Advance (GBA).
 
I went to the one in NYC on 26th street and there was no sale.....Someone help me out here. I asked a employee to scan some games for me and it was full price....and they were 4.99 in that list.

This is bogus. I'd like to see the source of this thread.

I went to the my local Best Buy. They only had one title on this list. And it was listed for $9.99. They have no games for sale less than that. I suspect most Best Buys will be the same.
 
The one in Paradise Valley Arizona had nothing I wanted. No Paper Mario 2, NO FInal Fantasy VIII or Origins, no SIlent HIll 4, and nothing. It is no fun.

I'll check back another one later this week. Hopefully I can find something.

That doesn't surprise me; Manhattan plays on a different money scale than the rest of the country. Where else can you find people selling cheeseburgers for $20?

Yah, Two Towers is decent, pretty good for a hack-n-slash type game. Not my favorite genre, but I had fun playing it.

Last I looked there were somewhere north of 2000 posts! Pretty damn funny, especially since this sale was a bust for most people, myself included. I managed to get Tron 2.0 for $4.99. Wow.
 
Didn't have anything at the BB in Little Rock, AR. (Not that I think that matters to anyone here)

Gah, these deals are always of the type where I see the games a few days prior, so I get excited that I'll be able to snag some. Come the day of, they're all freaking gone. We don't even have a PS1 section anymore.
 
Just got back, my BB had quite a few things left. I grabbed Godzilla for $9.99, GBA SP with Metroid Fusion and FF Tatics Advance for $89.99, and grabbed my store pickup FF DoS.

They still had Astro Boy, GTA Advance, Mr. Driller, Zoo Keeper, Bards Tale, Magic the Gathering. They didn't have Paper Mario which sucks.

Yea, there was absolutely nothing at the store in Rockville (the one on Rockville pike).

There are still tons of 1080 Avalanches and Taiko Drum Masters at that store if anyone is interested.
 
for 4.99 SH 4 is a deal but definately the weakest game in the series I suggest you play 2 and 3 also if you can find it at a cheap price!
 
there was nothing really special about MA2.. it came with two more maps...which were downloadable after like 1 month for free. plus some extra vids..
 
I went to my Best Buy and they had Zoo Keeper (NDS), plently of them, and Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls 1 & 2 (GBA).

If anyone is interested in some of those games, I may go back, and be able to pick some up to sell to CAG's. PM me if your interesed in one of these games and I may be able to pick one of up for you.
 
nah it will go down as the sale in which HOARDERS STRIKE BACK...i can see it now someone who wants to just get one game just for himself and its next to the group of razor sharp theeth hoarders with there three carts of junk..just as he reaches for one measy game, one of the hoarders turns around, looks at the game, turns to the guy and bites his hand off just as he was picking up the game..then he takes the bloody game and runs off with his ebay/ebgames prize.

One of the Memphis Best Buys down, nothing. Nothing except the group of 4 gimps who about had a heart attack to get infront of me to the games to find nothing. :)
Nothing worse than seeing a group of balding guys RUNNING to the video game department....sad sad.

BTW: Anybody notice that if you try to order games from Bestbuy.com it now returns a "We're Sorry - The page you requested cannot be accessed right now or no longer exists" message? I looked up SH4, FF:DoS and Bloodrayne 2 and all returned that message.

I wonder if the site has been slammed by people looking for those titles and that is their way of saying "They're gone - piss off!"

Honestly I had been pondering that. BB is gonna have trouble with their future marketing at this rate. The "devil customer" they hate and try to avoid wasn't ever really a specific demographic, as can be seen by this site, but it seems its getting to be more and more common, and more like the "informed customer".

Hoarder dicks attacked my store. The only games I found were Narc and Driv3r and they were not marked down to 4.99 they scanned as 9.99.

I met some one else there looking for silent hill 4 and a few other games, fucking hoarders got them all.

If anyone can get a silent hill 4 xbox, mechassault 2, or ff 1 & 2 for the 4.99 price tag and would like to sell me a copy I would be much obliged.

the list was wrong those prices are 9.99 you wont get them for 4.99

I honestly just think that a lot of these games were already sold out before the sale started and that there isn't as much hoarding going on as people think. For the majority of these games, Best Buy didn't have massive quantities at any time.
 
quick question.... if game are still being process but others are saying they got the Backorder email do you think those games will be backordered as well (its the same game)

I ordered an extra copy of 1 glowlancer and 1 Y's to trade off here but they are still in process

Well there were alot of the game seperators marekd 4.99 with no games behind them laying all over.

And there were probably only one or two copies of most of those games there to begin with if the employees didn't buy them first.

I'm thinking you're right. I made a quick look-see at my normal BB to visit on Sunday, with list on my Palm, and frankly, there wasn't that much of it there that was "good". Some of it was there, though not much at all.

I think this was a case of clearing out the stuff they didn't want around anymore, and there wasn't that much of it out there, at the store, to begin with.
 
did Best buy pull A lot of the games that was on sale off the webpage. I could of swear They had Nba street vol 2 for gamecube and around 3 or 4 other games that was still in stock... everything is gone now

For what it is worth, that is basically what a BB employee told me: that they just didn't have most of the stuff that was on sale.

Yea I just noticed, man I just printed out the fairly oddparents page cus its in stock at a local best buy but now an hour later its gone, does anyone know if they actually look up the page while you ask for a price match that would suck if my printout isnt enough.

Two Towers and NBA STreet 2 for GC were in stock, they're getting the "page cannot be found" error. Could be getting pulled.
