I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

My BB must be retarded...I brought a few games that the list said were $4.99 apiece (GBA Urbz and World Championship Poker), but they rung up $9.99 each instead. Booo Hiss...

Fortunately, I stopped by this new video store near there calledMovie Trader Depot, and picked up Xbox Manhunt, Enclave, Amped 2, Tony Hawk Underground 2, Urbz, Silent Hill 4 and Knights Of The Old Republic 2, each brand new still factory sealed, except for Enclave which was pre owned, for $5.99 each...So I was fairly well consoled for the evil of Best Buy. -=x

me and my brother went to a local BB and the jackass media dept. employee had a stack of the games on the list sitting on the counter which he had pulled from the shelf because they were clearenced! and when we asked if Nascar 2005 for xbox was $4.99 he started asking us where we got this information. he was all pissed off because someone "leaked" the price changes to the internet. what a dumbass!!

$5.99 for KOTOR II?!? Wow! :shock: That's excellent. That is better than the BB deal. Btw, don't know if you've followed the post since the beginning, but most of the games were really $9.99 instead of the mis-stated $4.99. Not really sure who's to blame for the bad info.

Ok i know i seen a post that showed what gamerush gave on trade ins for these. I have looked and looked. Anyone know what page of this its on???? thanks in advance. I will continue to look.....

This is awesome! I'm actually going to Wal-Mart tomorrow to pick up the SM64DS + Mario 64, and I'll have to stop at Best Buy on the way back and spend some money on those bargain games! Dang, two absolutely great deals in one day...
 
Warranties: I don't think they're 'commission' per se, however, they are pushed from corporate and they probably have a quota to sell, and I'm sure occasional store or zone competitions to get extended warranty sales up. The sales clerk doesnt' get a commission for selling warranties, but if he doesn't sell enough, he gets in trouble, and if he sells enough, he gets some reward.
Why are they pushed so hard? Profit. Extended warranties on most items are one of the most profitable things Best Buy [or anyone else] sells. Very few people remember they have it, or take advantage of it, and of course all the fine print and conditions help with that. If they weren't making money off them, they wouldn't be pushing them.

Heh... thats why I'm about to ask for a refund on my CC service plan, since they won't replace my laptop battery and I'm pretty sure I paid more for the plan 2 years ago than it will cost to buy a new battery. We'll see how they like that.

And in on-topic news, think I'm gonna try the Mayfield BB, since I never did end up going there once the sale started. Just saw crap when I went the Sunday before. Might be worth a shot as its not all that highly trafficked by people other than Case kids (which, surprisingly enough, are not generally CAGers or the like).

In my old retail days, if you didn't push the EW or didn't sell enough you would be "Lectured" or written up. You can't control what the customer whats and what they don't want. If they say no..leave it at that. Working at target was nice since I didn't have to push the EW (they didn't have it back then,dont know if they have it now) but man did they push people to make others sign up for the Target credit card, including there own employees..i remembered how my manager was constaintly harrassing me to sign up for one or she'ed cut my hours..yes thats illegal and i could have reported it to the district manager.

Next time they offer the EW on a product during a Qand A session , say ok... let the process fan out for 20 so mins, then when your about to ring up the stuff. say you know I think i will be ok with the product by itself so no thanks to the EW and I am sure i don't want it. I see EW good for PC's(if you don't know anyone who knows how to fix these things), any LCD/Plasma item (PC montior or tv), washer and dryers, and other expensive applicancies. Everything else its not worth it.

Basically i am looking to buy a BEST BUY game from someone on here to trade in with my rainbow six lockdown...... I just want to make sure the one I get is eligable for trade in... Not like I am trying to hoard or anything, just want one measly preorder :)

By the way - an update on my "free shipping" offer for the unavailable store pickup of Crash & Burn - it just got backordered :D. This was AFTER the lady on the phone said she checked inventory and it was supposedly in stock. Today I got another "free shipping" notice for my Tak 2 that was unavailable for pickup. That one they said was unavailable right away but put me on backorder just in case. So it must REALLY REALLY be out of stock as opposed to Crash & Burn which was just SORT OF out of stock.

I can tell you that Rocky (PS2) and Pinball Hall of Fame (PS2) WORK - just used them to preorder Twlight Princess today. ^_^
 
I picked up FF I & II at the Mt Vernon, NY store. Nothing at the Yonkers BB and I didn't get up to the one in Hartsdale.

There's Rocky and the newer Rocky Legends. Rocky is $.99 and Rocky Legends is $4.99.

I traded in the spare Taiko Drum master game at gamestop today, $11 credit, making the extra drum cost about $9. :D

For giggles I also traded in Rocky, trade in value was $3 at Gamestop, FYI.

I put my $14 toward the LE Dragon Quest 8 strategy guide. :D

I carefully walked through the BB in Saginaw, MI again today. Found a stray copy of Otogi 2, yay! :D Almost got Spyro for the wife, but we put it back, she still has to play Jak 2 & Mario Sunshine.

I've found a simple way around them calling local stores to confirm the item is in-stock.

With the advertisement, hand them a list of at least 6 telephone numbers to local Best Buys.

Most CSRs won't call all six stores. When they see that list, they usually don't call one.

Good luck with that...most warranties state that they do not cover the battery.

Well, it states that in my paperwork, but if you bought the same warranty now, it does cover the battery. Hence my displeasure. But like I said, it also states "you may receive a full refund at any time." So there I go. Get $300 back, pay $150 for a battery.

Yep. I have the same thing. No backorder notifications either. Nothing. Also, I noticed that my one game that has shipped, so far I haven't been billed for it.
