I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Thats the thing, I have been charged for my items. Is it possible that since some of the items on that particular order were backordered, that they are waiting to get the items in before they ship all of them together? Hey, I can dream can't I?

Me too. I got an order confirmation and then nothing. When I check BB, I still get usually ships in 0-1 days, well, you know what - I call :bs:. I guess I will not own MK or Mechwarrior anytime soon.

I'll just have to cry myself to sleep while holding the Growlanser I picked up :lol:.

Were you charged for all your items - even the ones "In Process?" Interesting. I checked my Visa statements online and so far nothing from BB.com. It *could* be that since I used a gift card with my order, it's deducting from my GC first, but it's weird that you've been billed but I haven't.

I was billed for both in process and backordered items. I used the BB Credit Card.

You are the first person to know that was Quinlan Vos. I hope he survived Order 66!!!

Here's one you're all going to love....

In addition to the Tron 2.0 I was able to snag in-store, I managed to sneak in an online order for a couple of titles, one being Colin McRae Rally 3. Much to my surprise, when I received the order today, I found that BB had either a) screwed up or b)substituted a similar title by sending me Colin McRae Rally 04! Not a huge score, but it's nice to think I may have beat them out a few dollars.... :)

Listen newb, you obviously haven't read this tread. I admit it can be difficult at 100+ pages, but maybe you should refrain from calling it a hoax without proper research.

These "price drops" were both online and in store.

Many of the $4.99 titles on the first page are incorrect, they are actually $9.99. (Some are still $4.99 and somewhere in this tread someone created a more accurate list that I have been using.)

But most games are now NOT available online ("Sorry page cannot be found" message).

Since these were old/clearance games, the selection in store was limited. This price drop was "advertised" on many deal web site. Given the limited inventory and and the publicity, people have been reporting hit and miss with finding these titles.

No, it's not a hoax.

First off, the list wasn't 100% correct, this much we know. The prices for a good number of items were $9.99 instead of $4.99, this we also know.

Calling this a hoax is complete bullshit. Any advance leaks of information can't be 100% true, and it depends on the source of the information. We had a jump on the sale, and that's enough for me. You calling it a hoax is completely unfounded. Yes, it's mostly picked over, and yes, BB.com is being a bunch of jackasses about it, though it's still going on and the games are being sold.

So, how exactly is this a hoax, because you have BB reps at your store that don't have a fucking clue how to look up stuff in the computer? :whistle2:s
 
I don't think we should all get on mongosay's case. Most people couldn't even had read what he had written anyway (black on black?).

Well, some BB stores do think there isn't a sale and that it's a hoax. A friend of mine stopped in the Brooklyn BB and they told him that it was only an online web site stating that there was a sale and that there really isn't one. :roll: And, if you check the links out on the bb.com site this late in the game, of course this deal would look bogus since most of the games are now not listed online.

How about Killswitch, SSX Tricky, and Silent Hill 4 for the PS2, are they $4.99 too?

Anytime John Ostrander and Jan Duursema are working on it, it's definitey good. I'm sure it'll be collected in a trade paperback collection soon. As a librarian, I make sure we get all of them, too, so check your local library.

I can say for sure that Return to Castle Wolfenstein is $4.99 because I picked it up myself.

I just got my shipment today...

FF8's case was okay, but the seal on top is missing, so I opened it up, and the disks look okay, as if they're brand new...

Buu's Fury, on the other hand, was a mess... The WHOLE box was crushed! I like to keep complete games so it 's really annoying... Now I'm gonna have to find out if someone has the box for it in a better conditon.

Best Buy is not that bad, but I'd wish they'd change their shipping methods, and use freakin boxes to send gba games!
 
That always happens when I order GBA games from them. It's VERY annoying considering how much they charge for shipping. Even when I ordered some DVD based games so they shipped the order in a box, the GBA games managed to get crushed

Mine are for Tron 2.0 (XBOX), LOTR: TTA (GBA), and Spyro (XBOX) the others were backordered and I got notification are Silent Hill 4 (XBOX), MGS:TS, and Mortal Kombat SE (XOBX).

I'll never see any of these, will I?

Glad i didnt waste my money and went 2 day shipping on the game on the webpage (I would got them yesterday for 5.99) I went Ground for 1.99 and all of them Besides 1 package got here today...

there was a rumor going around at the fort wayne stores that they was to get these games in mid week this week. I didnt say anything cause it was a rumor and that what it was RUMOR nothing new came
 
I checked two Best Buys (Porter Ranch, CA and Woodland Hills, CA) with no luck what so ever. they only had Rocky left.:cry: A BB employee did give me a copy of the list though. Just so you guys know, Kill Switch and SSX Tricky are listed as $4.99. I don't know why they're scanning at $9.99. Anyway, does anyone know if the Burbank, California store have any titles left?

ANyone have any luck ordering from bb.com for store pick-up before the clearance started and then getting the pricematch when you go pick the game up? I want to know if its worth my trip since I have a game ready for pickup

Well, I would assume that most stores computers will have the marked down price for the item already. The worst that you could do is refuse to pay for it at full price and cut your loss. If you really didn't want to drive there first, why not call the store and ask them what price is in their computers for the game you ordered? I don't know if it'll work, but it's worth a try.

Another thing, too is some folks on this forum have gotten the email that the item is in, but when they get to the store, it's not really there. Probably would be a good thing to confirm by calling instead of wasting your time.
 
Meh.... Mayfield Heights BB as empty as expected. One thing to note however, a few of the games on the list were in the 15% off cart. But of course they weren't 15% off.

Picked up MoH: Rising Sun for $4.99, but thats it. They had a bunch more copies of Two Towers and TMNT2 (GC), but honestly I don't think anything PS2 or XB from the list was stocked, and I know nothing was marked. I think the Spyro was the one on the list (Hero's Tail?), so I might go get that at some point if it looks interesting.

At least this one didn't require a drive out of my way...
 
Well this is lame... got my first shipments in today, and one of the games was missing!

MechAssalt 2 came in a flimsy cardboard envelope thing, kinda sucky packaging but it arrived fine. Pac-Man World 1 came in a higher-quality box, but there was NO FREAKING GAME - just a packing slip. The flaps were open on top and there was a dry strip of glue on one of them - but no evidence of any "tearing" whatsoever. It's as if the glue was applied, then allowed to dry completely before the box was shut (thus there was no adhesive to keep it shut).

So yeah it was just a $0.99 cent game thankfully, but I damn well better get fully reimbursed here. Anyone have experiences like this with Best Buy? With packages just arriving empty??

EDIT: Also, MechAssault appears to NOT be the limited edition, as it was listed on the site. Not such a big deal really, but just another small morsel of stupidity on BB's part.
 
I received by order in the mail today purachased on the 12th blood rayne 2 came factory sealed, while LOTR third age came shrink wrapped with the EA imprint on it interesting....

Found at the Bestbuy in Rochester Hills, Mi Ford Mustang XBX for $4.99 and Simpson's Road Rage XBX $4.99

I didn't buy them, but if someone is looking for them they were there as of an hour ago.

I also saw Spyro XBX $4.99 at the Madison Hgts Bestbuy yesterday. That might still be there too.
