I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

so far, other than y's and growlancer, I don't really see anything I NEED, but once there is an official list, all hell could break loose :)
 
Yeah, there's some pretty good games on that list. My bestbuy is newer, but I know there are/were a few of those games there. I'd be happy if I just got silent hill 4, but there's some others that would be good. Let's just hope all the employees don't buy them up.

By the way, a 9.99 paper mario 2 is a fucking steal.
 
Thank God that list appeared, unofficial as it was. Otherwise I was gonna make fun of a lot of people for ballooning this thread to 100+ posts in the two hours I was gone.
 
That's a nice list of games. I just hope Gamespot.com doesn't do a story on this with the list like they did last year. And I know it will happen anway but I hope it stays off of FatWallet for as long as possible.

crap I work on monday from 7:30am to 3pm..even though the kids get out at 12:30pm, i am contracted to stay until 3pm on mondays..>BAH!!
 
I know Goldeneye: Rogue Agent got some real poor reviews, but has anybody played it? Is it worth $5? I'm a fan of the Bond games in general, even the "not so hot" ones like Agent Under Fire, and $5 is less than a lunch for crying out loud. If the controls are tight and the gameplay is fun that'd probably get me.

For $5 sure go for it, no more than that though. I think it was alright it was considered terrible I believe because it was hyped up to be "Goldeneye 2" but it wasn't even close. But it was about as good as the other dissapointing EA Bond games so if you liked Agent Under Fire you'll like it fine.
 
Looks like almost all of the ones on the list are showing up as unavailable for local pick up. That seems a little odd, unless they've removed them from the database because of this imminent sale?

Well, Paper Mario isn't even coming up in a search of the entire site, for one, so that leads me to believe something is slightly off.

Well, you can always rent it for $6+ first to make sure it's worth buying :)

It seems every title that shows up on the website, says limited availability so it looks like most stores will only carry like 4 titles at most from this huge list.

'Unavailable' because this is 'old inventory'. Most Best Buys have not had these titles for years... Find a Best Buy that does not do much business and you might be able to score some of the titles on the list.
 
Went to BB just now and bought a lot of the games on the list to do a Price Adjustment on Monday. Best Find - One copy of Y's. No Paper Mario 2's, though. :whistle2:(

Here's hoping that EB $5 deal doesn't have the exclusion list in effect, cause if I get enough, I may just put the money down for a 360.

Store Locator does not work. I tried to use it to find Y's, and it said they didn't have any in stock. So check it out - you never know what you'll find! :whistle2:D

I'm also curious if this is online. Just in case, anybody know the hours to Best Buy, I might have to stop early if it's true.

...well at least in my store.

I just got back from my local Best Buy and they had only 3! yes 3 games from the entire 200+ game list. Outlaw Golf 2, Narc and Ford Mustang. Everything else was gone, these are all games Best Buy got very few of to begin with and never got anymore in. Most stores will be sold out of them. I even made a worker check about 10 games on the computer just in case they had already pulled the games from the shelves, and they had none, all of them being "deleted" from the system meaning they don't care them anymore.

I ended up only picking up Narc for pricematch next week. I already bought Outlaw Golf 2 for $10 at TRU and Ford Mustang isn't even worth $5.
 
i've been watching otogi 2's price at my local best buy (via the online store locator) and just 2 days ago, all of the sudden, otogi 2 wasn't on the website anymore. i called the store, and they said that they still had it in-stock for $29.99; i knew this meant it was only a matter of time before it was gonna be on a sweet-ass-sale.
 
My stores still had a lot of games in stock - so I'm guessing this is going to be supremely YMMV. But then again, so was the CC Clearance Sale.

A lot of good deals, will be good for Gamerush's trade 2, get $20 off a new game. Or if they do the extra $50 trade in credit for 10 games thing again.

Ya dude I know when it starts. But these games won't be appearng out of thin air on Monday and they have a pricematch policy for a reason.
 
Lockage, should occur. Then whenever somebody gets the official list they can post it. And after somebody posts the official list, only mods and the op can post. Wayyy too many deal threads are screwed up by people just posting nothing. THANKS VERY MUCH TO THE MAN WHO GOT THE UNOFFICIAL LIST! AND TO EVERYBODY ELSE THAT POSTS STUFF THATS GOOD!
 
if the store locator is right they dont have anything in fort wayne... im going to go tomorrow and at least try to grab zoo keeper. I been wanting that game for a long time.

The only games I want are the Final Fantasy games yet I don't think Best Buy in my area has them. Is this also for online or just B&M? I know it has to have been posted if it is or not and I hate to ask but I didn't see it. I'm guessing its B&M.

I've called two stores, and both confirm that you can PM since the clearance is happening within BB - not another store.

Play it safe and buy some games tomorrow. Then, next time you have to run some errands, drop by BB within 30 days and do a price adjustment. That's my plan, anyways.

Unfortunately, my BB only had one copy of Ys and everything else only have value as EB trade fodder. :whistle2:?
 
My store was totally empty - I bought all the shit I wanted online - I'l Price Adjust it when it shows up at my door.

If BB gives me grief about trying to do that, I'll just straight up return 'em. Took a pretty solid hit on shipping though...

Ys and Growlanser in stock on-line...
 
if that list is official... silent hill 4 ps2 for 4.99 is a crazy price for a pretty good game, would recommend that for anyone who doesn't have it yet
