I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I think it was a simple matter of the list being wrong.

I would also appreciate if someone could pick me up a Zelda: Link to the Past for GBA. And Megaman X Command Mission sounds decent for $4.99 plus whatever other charges(Time, gas, shipping). Thanks.


Shrike; I had a clerk scan Namco Museum and Shaman King(Not sure if there is more then one) for the GBA, and they both scanned as regular price, and I know someone else posted in this thread stating they picked up Shaman King. Ah well, it was probably a different Shaman King.
 
I give up on this thread. Even though some of the steam has been taken out of it, it's still going too fast for me to keep up, not to mention I didn't get anything. Aww...well.....I wonder if any Vegas people found anything. If they did, please post.

Anyways, I am off to 2 more bestbuys tomorrow after school to see if there is anything left. My friend was able to find a eye toy with that dance game...the one that was marked down to $10...Hopefully they have more of them.

I think there's a couple different versions of it, and according to Metacritic.com, there's 4 different ones.
 
yah flame me ...good job boy. im starting to see that BB f'uped here from what i have been reading..really thought of buying online but after reading a lot of people's orders are still being processed or whatever, its just not worth the hassle. its the hoarders who picked most stores cleaned and sold them at eb for almost double of what they payed for is what bothers me as eb will turn around and sell it for twice what they paid. i can always hope for them to go players choice for 20 bucks somewhere right?

All that means is that you checked the wrong one. The stand alone Eye Toy in the slightly blue packaging is not part of this sale.

Yes, some of the prices don't match the list we saw in the beginning.

Yes, people have issues with orders being backordered.

Yes, people are still finding games at BB B&M.

I went back into the store today (making me late for class again).

Picked up:

Bloodrayne 2 Xbox (reconsidered and decided to get it) - $9.99

Another Taiko drum master for $20 - $5 McD - my wife picked this up last week after I sent her the link. Kinda fun in a weird way like all rythm games. I will trade in the game to gamestop or wherever like previously suggested - I just wanted the 2nd drum.

4 copies of Rocky for PS2 for $.99 (leaving at least 4 there). I think hoarding these are ok, because no one wants to play it :D Is this POX for Ebgames or no?

Picked up TMNT2 but put it down again. Not worth $10, not even for the old arcade game. @ $5 I would have been all over it.

The cart with the clearance games was still full of junk. Strike Bowling, sports games, Casino gamblin, etc.

I found out my store has GGCs back again though, I bought 2 of them. :D
 
I knew that I was late on the sale, but I went in today @ 4:30 PM to my Best Buy here in Mesquite, TX. I found tons of 1080 Avalanche for $10 (which I bought), GTA for Game Boy Advance for $10 (didn't buy it), and I saw Yager there for $1 too (but I don't own an Xbox and I'm lazy on selling stuff on ebay).
 
I ordered online when I mysteriously woke up at about 3:00 am the day it went down.

Why is this non-existant sale at best buy still posted when it's quite obvious that there was no such sale. I haven't heard from anyone who has actually authenticated this sale. It's just a bunch of BS.

You obviously haven't read much of this thread if you think this sale is BS. Many of the prices were $9.99 instead of $4.99, but this was definitely a real sale. I know I was able to pick up Paper Mario, Y's, Astroboy, Catwoman, Yager, Freekstyle, and Ford Mustang.
 
The sale isn't BS, as I was able to find a couple of games. It is just that it isn't CAG-exclusive, so the games went fast to employees, hoarders and other lucky people. The two BB's I went to were pretty well cleared out. The second having only a few beat up penny guides.

Not so much a non-existant sale as more of a game hunt. The Best Buy I went to (Seattle, Northgate Area) has the prices in their sales associates computers, but for some reason NOT in their registers. If you can get a sales clerk to do a look up they'll change the price for you.

I got three games for $4.99 each. GoldenEye Rouge Agent, True Crime; Streets of L.A. both for the GC & Second Sight for the Xbox. If I wanted to get a real sucky game I could have gotten Catwoman for .99 cents.

good luck our local CC will call and ask if they have it in stock.. I thought meijers would do it BUT they said they need a Black and white ad they wont pm internet junk ... sucks too they had tons of Growlancer and Y's

i got a few printed off but i dont think any of them (besides 1) will work since all of them says SOLD OUT... I do have a glowlancer but its more of a Paint and paste thing
 
I wouldn't give up on this sale yet. Remember the weekend after the CC sale? People were still finding stuff, either because it was returned, hidden, misfiled, or (supposedly) new shipments from other stores or a warehouse. Personally, I'm going to keep an eye out at all my local BB for the next 2 weekends...even a single surprise game (Yager?) would be a nice bonus.

One thing most don't understand is that it's a clearance sale....meaning the stores are clearing old stock off the shelves. Many stores don't have anything to clear b/c it's all been sold already. The online sale, however, was real....many games listed for $.99-$9.99.

Thing that sucks is these games are pulled from the shelves...so there aren't even spots for them to go back into.. I dunno if they are just gradually selling off four games at a time or what...

If you printed off the web page, I'm not sure that would work at most stores. I tried just about every store in town that I could think of that would have Ys or Growlancer. The only places I could find it at were GS and EB and they said they couldn't pm the web site or call the store. I was hoping to price match one of those two at mejiers, but they did some remodeling and got rid of a lot of stuff. I knew they had copies of both. :cry: I didn't try Kmart and I doubt that McVans would price match.
 
One thing that may or may not work for pricematching is to get one of the CSRs at BB to write up the price quote on a game you're looking at. They may or may not do that, depending on if you can come up with a good reason for doing so. But with a Best Buy form listing the price, you're less likely to run into problems with them checking stock or whatnot. That worked for me PMing Baten Kaitos at Sears during the CC clearance, and I've never had any luck doing any other PMing since.

i wouldnt go to mcvans even if they was giving the games away for free. all the do is rip people off. THey will only allow people to trade when it best for them. meijers does have glowlancer but they wont accept the print out
